    i got mine pierced about an hour ago, 10/10 pain. almost passed out and it still kinda hurts afterwards. i didn’t have that much skin to work with since im skinny as hell but it still looks good. i’ll probably update this on how the healing process goes.
    next day: hasn’t been hurting much. sore to the touch. cleaned it when i woke up and cleaned it when i took a shower. used unscented soap and the saline salt after. a tiny bit red around the top ball but looks good on the bottom.

    I agree on all your points. I had mine done 8 months ago. Not painful at all--other than snagging occasionally it's one of easiest ones I've had. There were a couple of times I used a piece of that breathable 'surgical tape' over the top at night to keep it from snagging on sheets or a blanket.

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  5 лет назад +9

      Tape will work and I've had clients that have used it in the past. The only thing is to be careful and make sure the adhesive doesn't get on the piercing or the jewelry.

      @@BodyPiercingTattooing Yep, I just made it a kind of bridge from the top to bottom and letting it shield the area. My first jewelry was a pronged jewel and it tended to snag. @@extractdigit See, those aren't nearly as bad as the charmed and dangle ones. I still only stock the basic gem ball style, and it is what I suggest for long term wear. They don't get caught as often and no sharp edges to dig into the inside of your navel.

    I got mine piercing in 2019. It didn’t hurt that bad. Perhaps at least a 4-5/10 for me. It healed fine but got a bit irritated halfway through. I took care of it and it healed well afterwards. Yes, the high waisted pants are the sworn enemies of navel piercings. In fact, I think that the low wasted hip hugger Jean fashion of the late 90s had more to do with the popularity of navel piercings than anything.

      Yeah the rubbing prolongs healing, damages jewelry and the piercing and can cause all kind of issues. In fact, I've heard a number of horror stories over the years of the jewelry catching on the pants, the person sitting down and the piercing tearing.
      It's why I always mention it in my Pre-piercing consultation and advise against them during the healing and even afterwards.

    I got mine pierced March 7th so last month and the pain I would say I am really trying to keep it clean cause I don’t want to go through the pain again. I hear that scar tissue hurts worse than the first time. The first couple days I forgot it was there. Then like 2 weeks after it hurt to bend it hurt to touch it for me to clean it it just was a lot of pain. Now the crustys subsided and it doesn’t hurt unless I accidentally lean on it for to long when I’m sitting down. But I think it’s cute and I love it. It took a long of convincing for me to get it done because I’m on the bigger side. Im on a weight loss journey and I hope it won’t affect the piercing.

    i got mine 2-3 months ago and let me say i had a lil scare when i thought id have to give up on mine.. my piercer used a small (the standard 10mm) size bar and this was putting way too much pressure for me to heal. no room for swelling whatsoever, and she pierced through a decent amount of skin. i had these red circles around my piercing holes and they turned dark and ugly i hated it. it showed absolutely 0 bar and was difficult to clean because of the snug to perfect fit. then i bought a bigger bar and now (after 2 months) they’re completely gone, its super cute, and the swelling went down so i can see more of the bar. if you feel this describes you change it! but with gloves and sterilize everything. its better to heal with the proper jewelry.

    Thoughts on floating navel piercings? Body piercers online are saying it’s slightly better for people who have a belly but it does still come down to anatomy. I’m considering a navel piercing now because all the jewelry options are so cute. I’m just not sure if I want a regular navel or a floating navel.

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  3 года назад +2

      Here's the thing when we were piercing with rings the piercing was done more inside the navel and at the angle that the "floating navel" is done at. The only real difference is that it is done with a curved barbell.
      The whole reason the angle moved more outside the navel is the popularity of curved barbells. The piercing should always be done to match the person's anatomy.

      The placement and the jewelry that works. With floating navel you can wear rings, curved barbells and j bars. So in a way it is more open to different jewelry types.
      The only real negative thing I will say is I think it's a dumb name. It's kind of like making a cheese burger and calling it a dairy inspired hamburger.

My piercer told me to use a saline solution and that has been working for me but im curious to know what the difference is and if one method better than another. Thanks

      This is an older video and my aftercare instructions have changed. I suggest using a sterile saline solution such as Neilmed Piercing Aftercare or Woundwash spray. The only time I suggest using anti-bacterial soap is when the area has been contaminated. Thank you for watching.

    Pro number 3 is only half the situation. Yes there are zillion options for curved barbells, but they are all 1.6mm, max 12mm long and the balls are almost without exception 5+8mm.
    10mm balls: forget it
    longer banana bars with bling: forget it
    curvier bars (fuller bellies need like bars with a 110°/18mm diameter): you have to make it yourself from a regular slightly curved bar (30°) or a straight bar.
    thicker bars (2-3mm): forget it.
    So the zillion options is basically just catering pancake-stomach girls with a nice ridge. Not the other 90% of humankind.

    If you want to do the more traditional deeper piercing and not at an angle like you said is common now for curved barbells, will professionals do this (and know how to/ what the difference is)? And what type of jewelry would this use - straight barbell or a full ring?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  5 лет назад +1

      Yes, they may not like it but if your navel is correctly shaped and they pierce to the shape of the navel, they shouldn't have an issue with it. In fact if your navel is deeper, you are going to have more success. The other option is a J Bar. Though most studios no longer stock them.

    I’ve had my navel piercing for 10 + years now. I was a teen when I had it done, however in those long years I’ve put on a lot of weight and I also had a smaller bar for those years and realised.. I’ve got a crater formed on the top part of my ring, I’ve since sterilised and cleaned a longer bar and placed that in, but my question is, will that crater heal when I start loosing weight? I think where I’ve put on a lot of weight on my mid area the small bar has had no room and pushed into my skin.
    I don’t want to have to take out my navel jewellery and loose my piercing because I love it.
    Just wondering if that’s there now forever or if it will heal over in due time once I loose my weight slowly over the next year. x

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 года назад +3

      It may. I'm guessing there is some tearing or splitting of the tissue caused by the pressure of the smaller jewelry.

    Hi I got my belly pierced last August. The piercing never gave me any problems until I was sleeping and snagged it really hard on accident. (I feel it is unfair that this 1mistake killed my piercing) It kept getting thinner and finally fell out in the shower. I want to get repierced but I don’t know when I should. The was two mounds when it ripped but they fused together and the skin is whole again. Now it’s trying to get lighter and just heal. I heard getting repierced hurts worse and they will have to go deeper. Should I just go back to my piercer whenever it heals? I have a feeling it won’t reject (I literally had 0 complications) but I just want to know how I should go about getting repierced

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 года назад +1

      The main issue is that the scar tissue is thinner and less resistant to migration and rejection. Basically it can't support the piercing jewelry as well and if given a chance your body will push it out.
      The longer you wait for the tissue to strengthen, the better result you are going to have and the less sensitive the area will be. See your piercer and have them take a look.

    So I need help/advice. 3 years ago I pierced my navel and it stopped pussing and bleeding after a few months and I was almost at my 1 years mark when its supposed to be healed but I took the ring out before and the piercing closed up. Last year February I pierced it again and up to this very day it still pusses and bleed and crust. It was pierced through the same area the first piercing scarred. Idk if it's because of the size of the ball because the bottom ball is quite big but the bar has more room than the first whereas the first I had a bump... or if its because its pierced through scar tissue but I don't think it should still be doing this should it? I use saline solution spray on it.

      To get rid of it, you need to remove the cause. Without seeing it first hand its impossible to say what is causing the issue. It would be best to see your piercer and have them take a look.
      The most common causes are trauma from sleeping on the piercing, wearing high waisted jeans or pants and jewelry that has things dangling from them.

      The jewelry being too tight can cause issues. Changing the jewelry may cause it to go away.

      I’ve had mine pierced for years and I wear high waisted stuff all the time! Once it’s healed it shouldn’t be a problem.
      Keep in mind though if you’re wearing thin and/or tight high waisted pants (like leggings) or shirts you may see little bumps where your piercing is.

      That's why I don't suggest high wasted pants, they cause abuse to the piercing which leads to bumps. Mainly stiffer materials like jeans. Softer materials like leggings, are not going to cause as many issues.

    I was watching this video and I have a question so I had an allergic reaction when I got mine done and so I just took it out it closed in like 1 day. Can I get it repierced?

    So I have an outie, but the piercer I went to said the only possibility I could get pierced if I gained weight so there would be more space to pierce since I’m also a bit skinny. My belly button looks like a vertical slit with a small outie in the middle. (And I do not plan on piercing the outie itself lol.) I was wondering if gaining weight for it would be worth it? I’m going to a second piercer in a month after I’ve hopefully gained enough weight to get a second opinion, because from friends and those I know who’ve been pierced locally, that piercer is said to have a good professionalism. Thanks 👍 💕

      It is always hard to say without seeing the area first hand. Gaining weight might losen the tissue a bit but it has more to do with lobe being formed enough and there being room for the jewelry. You might want to consider getting a floating navel.

      Regardless of your weight it all comes down to anatomy. I have done navel piercings on people of all shapes and sizes. If it helps motivate you to be more healthy even better. Good luck and know you can do it.

    When I sleep I put a giant bandaid on mine because I do sleep on my stomach even when I try not to is that ok?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  3 года назад +1

      It is more about the pressure on the piercing and a band aid is not going to help that.

    Hi😬. Question Would it be okay to do yoga with a three day old piercing? Or any form of belly fat loss exercise & to what extent ?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 года назад +1

      Some movements are going to cause discomfort. You should also avoid contact or stress on the piercing for the whole healing period.

    How long do you have to wait to go to the beach/swimming pool after having done the navel ? + Is it normal that after doing it there's no blood or serum coming out and it's not even swollen or red ?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  Год назад

      No swimming until it is completely healed 6 to 12 months. Everyone reacts differently, be happy your isn't red.

    Can I wear high wasted clothes if I cover the piercing with gauze or something? Because that’s the only big drawback for me...

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  3 года назад +5

      It is more about the pressure and rubbing than anything. So covering the piercing really isn't going to make a difference. The worst case is wearing Mon jeans like it's 1983.

      Oh also want snake bites really bad I know all the risks but my parents said they would kick me out if I did....lol (don’t know if that’s a bluff or not). It’s sad because I know I would be a lot happier with a snake bite piercing (just the dots) than a naval piercing which they actually accept. So how do u convince someone that facial piercings are not as bad/dramatic as they think?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing

      No not really. Especially during the healing.

    I want to get my navel piercing done, but I had surgery to get two hernias taken out. I have scar tissue in that area, and got this surgery years ago. Could I still get mine pierced?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 года назад

      Maybe it depends on the location of the scar and if the tissue is strong enough to support the piercing.

      hi!!! i also had hernia surgeries on my belly button. MAKE SURE your piercer knows that!!! i’m not sure if you’ve already gotten it done. but make sure your piercer is aware and pays attention to you. the shop i went to was soooo good. all 4 piercers stopped what the were doing (they weren’t with other clients) and came over to make sure it was in the proper place!! it depends on how much scar tissue there is, etc. but it is possible!! just make sure they know and they look at it before they do it :)) i hope this helped!!

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing

      The key to avoiding rejection is placement and correct jewelry. As pso having the correct anatomy. Find a skilled and well experienced piercer is the first step towards avoiding issues.

    What should I do if I have scarring on my nipple piercings but the piercings are still healing? They got pretty snagged and dried out and looked really rough for a long time because I went swimming in the ocean for a bachelorette party. They still look pretty rough, and it’s been like three months. Any advice?
    Also thanks for the video. I am getting my navel done soon :)

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing

      See a piercer or medical professional. If you went swimming, it could be an abcess or cyst from an infection you got from swimming in the ocean.

    Hi. I'm thinking of getting a navel piercing, but I'm afraid that in the long run if I decide I do not want it anymore and take it out the scarring will be very obvious. Is the navel very prone to obvious/ deep scarring and often a case of people that do go through with this piercing?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 года назад

      It really depends on how the piercing heals, and how long you have the piercing.

      Navel is the jewel of woman. No need to hide it by a silly ring let alone disfigure it in the process!

      Of course unless you wish to adorn your own body.
