    Not gonna lie: the clamp felt great, first needle felt just like any other piercing. Not too bad. Second clamp, again, great (I learned a lot about myself that day), and then OOOO I feel bad. It hurts, but not terribly, but I yelled in my piercers face. Left her a $20 tip from embarrassment!

      Thank you for sharing your experience. A little yelling and maybe some swearing is prt of the piercing experience for a lot of people. Most piercers don't mind and a good tip is always appreciated.

    this video really helped me to decide to get mine pierced. i finally did it yesterday and super happy with the results. definitely did not hurt as much as i was expecting. first was about 4/10 but the second was a high 7/10, but over SO quickly. the piercer was also really helpful in making me feel comfortable because i was extremely nervous walking in to the appointment

    Maybe not a typical situation but I had my nipples pierced for about 4 years before I became a mother. I wanted to breastfeed and didn’t want to lose my piercing so I would take it out and feed daily of course and just put jewelry back in daily or sometimes weekly without any issues. I breastfeed for two years and still have my piercings 🥰

    I got mine done two days ago, while on my cycle. So far so good. The piercing pain was less than I expected, 4/10. Afterwards that day it just felt like I had nipple clamps on (pleasurable for me). They’re a little crooked but it gives it a little character. My piercer made me feel comfortable and did a good job overall.

    I got mine pierced back on Saturday, so far it seems everything is healing well. I’ve been watching this guy and his videos made me more confident while getting this body part pierced. I’m going to see my piercer in early June and I’m hoping he’ll be able to tell me that it’s healed enough to safely go swimming while I’m on vacation. I had mine done 6 months ago and they weren't nearly as painful as I expected from friends stories! My whole city went into lockdown a week after for 4 months so there was no way to downsize until three weeks ago. Thankfully no irritation bumps happened somehow! My piercer did them freehand since he's been doing them that way for 10 years and they're done perfectly :D

    Hi DaVo, thank you producing such comprehensive, educational content for free! It really helps people make informed decisions before getting their piercings (that's why I went ahead and got my septum done a few years ago, and currently considering more!).
    Where I live, it's hard to find piercing shops with such high levels of professionalism like you've made me aware of through your videos (such as offering a thorough consultation before the procedure, providing detailed/written information on aftercare etc.), or they charge a ridiculous amount (I forked out more than a hundred bucks for the septum)-because getting pierced by a gun at a jewelry shop is a far more common experience in my country.
    It's also obvious that you have such a passion for what you do and always eager to stay up to date, which is so wonderful.
    Btw, did you ever mention what the best size/gauge of jewelry to get the nipples pierced with? I might have missed it.
    Thanks and hope you have a great Christmas! :)

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 года назад +2

      You're welcome and yes, I would like to see the standards of the industry improve. I think that starts with the clients expecting more.
      Usually with nipple piercings 14-10g is the standard. Width on barbells 7/16-5/8 on average. It all comes down ro the width of the nipple.

    • @kristinphillips777
      @kristinphillips777 2 года назад +1

      Yeah I get you there I live in Wichita Kansas and it is hard to find a very professional piercing spot either they’re super cheap super uneducated, or they’re on the other end of the spectrum and they’re super super super expensive I forked out more than $200 for a septum ring, then he pierced it with a clicker and it’s swelled too much, and I had issues with it it’s finally healed now and it’s beautiful I love it but it was way way more expensive than it should’ve been. And to my knowledge you’re not supposed to pierce a septum with a clicker

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  2 года назад +2

      Yes you are right, it shouldn't be pierced with a clicker or hinged ring. A lot of it comes down to the jewelry they stock. I try to stock many options from good quality affordable jewelry to very expensive gold and everything in between. It means a bigger investment but not everyone can spend $200 on a piercing. Also a simple Titanium circular barbell is going to make for a much easier heal.

    thanks for another informative video. i'm someone who got pierced with curved barbells and my piercer's reason was because i have slightly inverted nipples and the curve would help mitigate any potential pressure that the inversion may put against the piercing. the reasoning was sound to me so i went with it, and healing has been fine! when i downsized from the piercing jewelry, my piercer still used a pierced barbell for the same reason just to be safe, and things have still been fine. i'm at 9 months now (some grumpiness but still overall great) and i've just ordered some 1/2" straight barbells to be my final jewelry, and i'm looking forward to it!

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  3 года назад +2

      I'm glad you found the video informative. The main issue with curved barbell is they tend to set with the top of the curve. I get what they are thinking but unless the curve stays inward, a straight barbell would have been a better option.
      Now, it the barbells are in fact sitting with curve inward, it would best to stick with the curves, if they are pointing downward a straight barbell is a better option.

    I got my nipples pierced about 3 weeks ago the healing process went amazingly well so far, I think a little too well. No swelling even immediately after, no liquid coming out, no pain whatsoever(only when i got them pierced) and no crustiness. But i noticed that one is a little bit more deeply done than the other and i think that the piercer did that so it looks more even(one of my nipples is not exactly straight and even), so it’s a bit close to the areola. Should I worry?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing

    I got mine in February of 2023. I was worried it would be an issue because my nipples were already pretty sensitive. If they were touched a certain way I’d start feeling nauseous and uncomfortable. Fortunately, the piercings have actually helped to make that particular activity more pleasurable more often than not. I haven’t regretted the piercing at all. I clean it every day in the morning and check it in the evening. At 5-6 months there really wasn’t any build up to even clean the second time. Definitely the most painful piercing I’ve gotten though. The only one I ever yelled for. I suspect it’ll be the only one of any future ones too 😅

    I recommend using a breast shells during the healing process to keep it from touching anything, especially while wearing a bra of tight clothing. I wore these while working at fedex , where I literally had boxes and other things hitting my chest 10hrs straight. Lol. And not once did I experience pain . By the way breast shells are hard plastic half spheres on one side and soft silicone on the otherside that lays flat on the breast and has a cut out circle that the nipple fits into. Breast shells are for woman who are breast feeding and the breast shells catches the milk that comes out between feedings. Also they are not noticeable in sports bras with pads . They should also never be used with push up bras.

    I loooove this piercing! Did it almost a year ago, both were not very painful, at least less than my helix (still remember that day…ugh). Love the look, all kinds of jewellery and the massive confidence boost.
    Edit: sometimes it takes a bit more time to find the right jewellery because I need larger barbells than 5/8”. But it’s not a problem for me at all.

      Thank you for sharing your experience and I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying your piercings.
      5/8 is a pretty common size for most barbells. I guess it really depends on what you are looking for but there is a lot of the more designs on the market than there used to be. Especially the threadless jewelry which opens up a lot of different options for ends.

    I just got mine redone yesterday. I first had them done when I was probably 20/21 and had them for probably about a year before one got infected and I took them out (which I now know was the worst thing I could have ever done and I’ve never been in so much pain in my life. Thank goodness Antibiotics exist). I’m now 26 and had been wanting to get them redone so I finally did. My second experience was way different the second time around. 1st go around clamps were used and the piercer used rings which I absolutely hated because it was so I comfortable. It also led to be buying barbells from Spencer’s just to get the rings out. This time I used a completely different shop and guy. He did it free handed and he was so knowledgeable. He said barbells were the way to go and he also gave great after care instructions and explained everything as he did it. My second experience was 10/10. They’re straight and look amazing! The difference in price between the two experiences was DRASTIC but you really get what you pay for. I would describe the pain as a burning sensation but it goes away soon after they’re done. If you are considering the piercing I would highly suggest it! Also the shop sold the spray recommended in this video and I highly suggest! Much better than the hydrogen peroxide I used when I was younger ( I was uninformed and was given 0 instructions my first go around).

      If the piercings were healthy when you removed the jewelry, re-piercing shouldn't be an issue. Scar tissue can be a little more sensitive and the piercing may be slightly uncomfortable but not too much. Sometimes it may bleed a little more. Otherwise should be about the same as the last time.

    One day after I got my nipple pierced I realised that the jewellery is very thin. Turned out that the piercer pierced me with 1,2mm curved barbell so I called her back to ask if she hasn't done it by mistake, because as far as I know female nips should be pierced with 1,6mm needle. She told me that it's very uncommon to pierce them with such a thick neede and that I could choose how thick the needle would be except she forgot to tell me that. Now I don't know if I should have them repierced with 1,6mm or leave it like that. Please, somebody help me because I'm stumped

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  3 года назад +8

      14g or 1.6mm is the thinnest used in most cases. The piercing cam be healed with thinner jewelry but I would suggest stretching the piercing after it has seasoned. Also straight barbells would be a better option.
      Here is the deal if the piercings are healing and there is no issues, leave them be.

    Perfect timing! I was thinking of getting mine pierced! How do you feel about nipple shields? Obviously I would wait OVER A YEAR to make sure those bad boys are all healed out, but I've heard some piercers say nipple shields are the devils work, and others say they're completely fine as long as they aren't too heavy and tug on the piercing. What are your thoughts?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 года назад +13

      I should have mentioned them but this video is rather long. You should mention that you plan on wearing nipple Shields at the time of the piercing.
      The main issue is that a majority of them are one size fits all and as I'm sure you are aware, the anatomy of the nipple and the breast varies greatly. So they tend to be ill fitting and cause pressure outward against the piercing.
      I always suggest wearing them only for short periods of time. Special occasions basically. Avoid anything made out of silver and sterling.

      I do not suggest swimming until the piercing is completely healed(6-12 months). It is the only way to ensure that they will not become infected. A waterproof bandage may reduce exposure to the water but they aren't 100% effective. Also, the adhesive can damage the piercing and collect on the jewelry.

    Thank you for making this video!
    My personal experience with this piercing:
    Mine are a little over 3 months old at this point, with a pretty smooth healing process so far. I was pierced with 12g straight barbells, internally-threaded and implant-grade titanium. The piercing itself was, quite frankly, shockingly painful to the point I thought I was going to have to back out halfway. I think my piercer did not use forceps, but I wouldn't be surprised if he had and I just completely forgot; I was pretty nervous going into the piercing, and once the pain started the rest of my concentration completely scattered. Despite the possibly free-hand piercing, I see nothing wrong with the final placement; the piercings are not uneven in any way I can see, are appropriately at the base of my nipples, and (at the recommendation of my piercer) are angled to visually complement my anatomy, which I am very happy for. But even though I love how they turned out, I can easily say that the pain of the piercing experience is singularly the reason that I would never ever get them re-pierced.
    In terms of healing, I haven't had many issues at all, but have had to make a couple expected lifestyle changes. I was a nearly religious stomach-sleeper before getting the piercings, but obviously have had to unlearn that. I've also discovered that I am much more comfortable wearing some type of sports bra at all times of the day than I am going bra-less, because it helps to have that bit of a barrier between my piercings and everything else. I have had little to no pain or soreness since the first couple days after the piercing except during my period, and even then it's nothing that a bit of ibuprofen can't soothe. I was a little nervous about how the healing would go because even though my helix piercing (~2yo) is very docile, my earlobe piercings (~6yo & 3yo) act up a lot. But I am happy that so far these piercings are being nice to me.

"Everyone" is "professional" when they're in a shop and that's certainly a huge misconception. If only they all RUclips videos like you, we'd know that they really know their stuff. I personally look for all the basic necessities of a shop/piercer: hygiene and cleanliness, credentials, a portfolio, reviews etc. The thing about that too is, the popular shops normally care the least because they have sooo many customers (in my experience) and the smaller shops don't care enough by the looks of things. If they are worth their weight in salt, they will be willing to take a few minutes and sit down with you. The great thing about finding these videos and others is you are more educated. So ask lots of questions. Even ones that you know the answer to. Also ask others what their piercing experiences have been like.

      They should aoways be marked with the client standing. I find it is more comfortable with the client to be reclined. With their body fully supported, they are more stable and it reduces the risk of the client moving.

    Hi, i have had 2 kids and breastfed both. Because of that my nipples are slightly droopy when they are not erected. Do you think that getting them pierced might correct this?

      There is no 100% in life and piercing but they may appear more pronounced and erect. Also I have had clients in the past say that it help regain some of the sensitivity they had lost after breast feeding.

    Curious, does the second one hurt more even if you wait a few weeks or months between having them done. I'm just wondering if the phenomenon of the body reacting more severely is short term. I've wanted this done for almost 20 years and went to do it in Sturgis but my nipples were too large for the barbells they had on hand. My brother in law got them done instead and had a horrible experience which scared me away for awhile.

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  3 года назад +2

      The second hurt more is more about how your body registers pain warnings. After the first piercing, the nervous system is on high alert.
      However, it is common that one side is more sensitive than the other. So you may notice one hurts more than the other regardless of when you do it.
      Chances are it is not going to be as bad as you think it is going to be. Also male piercings tend to be more painful than female nipples.

    Could you be able to use numbing appointment before getting the piercing

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  2 года назад

      It makes little or no difference. Also it can cause swelling which could make the placement off and tends to be petroleum-based. Which makes getting a proper hold on the area and marking difficult.
      It isn't going to hurt as much as you think and the part that hurts isnt the surface.

    Hello, thanks for your informative video🥰. I do have a question though. I just went through the comments and read that another women had some bioplast (plastic) barbells with titanium balls. I have the same. I’m afraid now because I read your answer. But when can I switch my jewellery to another one? Don’t you have to wait a certain time until you can change the piercing they pierced you with (for the first time)? And do you recommend a specific material :)?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @annap.2609
      @annap.2609 3 года назад +1

      Okay, so I just reached the point where you talked about the material. So I have an answer to that question now. But I have another two question now 😅. When do I know whether my piercing is healed or not? And when can you start touching the nipples in the bed room again:)? Thanks!

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  3 года назад +1

      It is always best to wait until the piercing is healed before changing the jewelry. At this point if it isn't causing issues leave it be.

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  3 года назад +1

      When you he piercing finishes its first stage of healing, the piercing holes will pull inward, the discharge will reduce or stop and the jewelry will move freely through the piercing. When in doubt see your piercer and have them take a look. We love seeing the results of our work and happy to tell you that it is healed or give it more time.
      You should avoid contact until the piercing is healed.
      You

    Do you think seamless rings in nipple piercings would still be considered choking hazards?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 года назад +3

      More than likely the least risky. However, it brings up the question of whether the jewelry would damage the child's mouth. Thst would need further research about the child's development. Also often a large ring is need. So just the size of the jewelry could be an issue.

    Thank you so much for this video!! Very informative and helpful. I had additional questions about females with larger breasts. My nipples sit a little lower, due to gravity (as my chest is 40DDD). Are nipple piercings still an option for me? Or will there be higher risk involved with the piercing itself and/ or heal time? 🤔😅
    Thanks in advance!

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  2 года назад

      There is little or no difference. The only thing that might cause an issue is if the weight is putting too much pressure on the nipple. Making them more like an inverted nipple.

      They should have been both through the nipple only. If they had to go into the areola, you may not have the right anatomy.

    Hey my nipple piercing got hooked on the door a couple weeks ago and ripped, not completely but significantly. There's no more bleeding, no infection but it's still painful. I've only been using saline to clean nothing else. Any advice on what I can use to aide in the healing process. Also have you ever seen a tear heal back to original piercing size. Btw I got them pierced in September

      About all you can do is monitor the piercing and hope for the best. If it seems like the piercing is moving or migrating, see your piercer.
      In some cases taping the wound together will help to to repair.

    I think I have a high pain threshold, I got mine pierced a few days ago and they didn’t hurt, I got my septum pierced same time and I’d say they were the same pain level. Nipples are healing better than septum and septum hurts more than nipples lol my most painful piercing was my tongue, no regrets love them all 🖤🤘😝

    I got mine done in October and I love them so much! I knew I'd pierce them at some point of my life, since middle school, so finally at the age of 21 I decided to get it. So far they are definitely more sensitive than before and it helped make my flat nips, a bit more "out there". Some swelling occurs around my period, but I think this will also calm down once it's healed. I had a little inflammation going on for a moment, but it went away after the oak bark soaks and I reacted very quickly. Thanks to covid I can go braless, which in my opinion helps with the healing process to some extent. Overall, they've been fun so far and I can't wait for them to be fully healed. An interesting thing is my piercer did them with a bioplast bar and titanium balls. The bar is interesting since it was cut to fit my nipple perfectly and allow for swelling, as well as I can come in January and get it shortened while healing, so the bar is not annoyingly long for the entire process, as with titanium bars. What do you think about this method? So far I don't have any problems with it, but after the piercing heals, I will definitely switch to a full titanium bar, preferably one that can only be unscrewed on one side, as I'm a bit paranoid with both sides being possible to unscrew. Last thing is that I did notice that one of my piercings definitely had to settle in the right place during the first couple of days, but has not moved since then.

      Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.
      The main issue with plastic is there is no third party verification that it is biocompatible. The term bioplastic is only a name brand and has no meaning. So there is risks of toxins leaking out of the plastic into your body with long term exposure.
      Additionally, the plastic as a rougher surface that can damage the piercing or scratch easily. Also the flexibility of the tubing can cause the piercing not grow straight which can lead to migration and issues when normal metal jewelry is put in.

    Got mine done yesterday and it does enhance the look of the nipple. They look gorgeous I love them. But the pain!! If you don’t have a high tolerance for pain it’s gonna hurt a lot. I have a high tolerance for pain, and my piercer told me took it like G 😂. What they say is true, the 2nd piercing does hurt a lot more than the 1st. Cuz I was like oh that’s it? Until they pierced my left nipple 🤦🏾‍♀️. If you truly want to get em pierced, go for it. You’ll like the end result, if you can get through the pain.

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  3 года назад

      It is often normal but it can be a sign of allergic reactions to the jewelry material or aftercare product. Also the tissue drying out which is common if you are using anything other them premixed saline solutions and sprays.

    • @c.modesto5307
      @c.modesto5307 3 года назад

      Nope, it’s a very bad idea to take antibiotics when you do not have an infection under any circumstance. It won’t do anything to help, and you might end up killing off the good bacteria that your body needs to actually heal the piercing and keep you healthy.

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing

      Antibiotics are not going to help at all. As @localcrybaby said you shouldn't take them unless you in fact have an infection.

    Wish I saw your video sooner, had my left nipple pierced with a bar bell initially and I don’t know if it was too superficial or what but seemed like bar bell was to heavy so I talk to my piercer and he putted a banana there, as you said it had issues but still had it fine for about 4 years then end up rejecting and had to take it out, I’m thinking about re opening it with a better piercer or one that tells me if it’s just not right for me (nipples too small or something) how long should I wait to re open it? Thanks you 👏🏻 love your videos

      It is hard to say if the piercing can be done again without seeing the area. If it rejected the tissue may not be able to support a new piercing or the piercing will need to be done at a different angle to avoid the jewelry just traveling though the softer scar tissue.

I guess i got lucky bc the second was no more painful than the first! Lol Do yourself a favor and eat well beforehand. I waited until right beforehand an nearly passed out. I've wanted to do this for a while now. I'm done having babies and no more breast feeding so that's no issue. However, I am a swim instructor and I am in the pool 4-5 days/week. Can I still have this done and use waterproof bandages?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  3 года назад

      It would be best to wait until you can be out of the water for at least 6 months. Waterproof bandages can reduce the risks but they are not 100% effective. Also, they can damage the piercing and cause the adhesive to collect on the jewelry that could cause issues.
