Christopher Reeves IS Superman for me. Always.
Nicholas Cage is
Amén.
he literally did it to himself.
Thank you for making and posting this video. I'm a lifelong cinephile with Asperger syndrome, and I want to win an Oscar one day so I can end my acceptance speech with: "And finally, to anybody out there with a disability, if anybody tells you you can't realise your dreams, well, damn it... *holds it up over my head* you tell them about this!"
Jarred, I hope your wish comes true!
Thank you!
They dont give a f about it, its just fasion to give a image of political correctness. They didnt give a f till it became fashion to do it . They are fooling you in a shameless way.
@@andergutierrez6021 You could be right, but I think the point is that they did it at all.
@@andergutierrez6021 no
Zack literally said “And the Oscar goes to” perfectly but Shia literally said “The Neighbors Widow” it’s WINDOW lmao just wanted to point that out
Ok wtf
@Dr. Mercy Chinwo ok keep in church
@Dr. Mercy Chinwo god is a superstition
The legendary Christopher Reeve.
Man I had no idea that happened to Christopher reeves. He seemed like a great guy
He made you believe a man could fly. And then no longer could. Such a shame. He was thrown off a horse. He died 9 years later after that oscars speech. He deserved an honorary award but I don't think he got won. He died 9 years after the speech. At the age of 52 in 2004. I'm only young but the tragedy is still sad.
The best video that the Oscars will ever upload, thank you
Marlee Matlin is so beautiful. And William Hurt was a jerk.
Lmao, why is he a jerk?
Always great to see Michael J Fox again
Honey Boy is one of the best movies of this century.
"water from the moon" not impossible anymore.
Who cares if they have disabilities or not? What really matters is their talent.
Linda Hunt put in an extraordinarily great performance in her fascinating and technically difficult role as "Billy Kwan", a man afflicted with dwarfism, who is also possessed of an unusually high intelligence coupled with a perspicacious ability to understand and empathize with other people.
I read turner syndrome in Google
They wouldn't allow her to play a role like that today.
@@itsjemmabond why?
@@antoniolopesmoraes5923 A white woman playing a Chinese man? Of course people are going to go mad in this day and age! Remember Miss Saigon?
@@itsjemmabond Yes!!! the real sticking point was that Jonathan Pryce wasn't Asian.
That was one of the most beautiful videos i have ever seen 👏🏼
All Of These People Are Warriors My Hopes, Prayers And Thoughts And Congratulations Are With Them And There Friends And Family ❤️❤️💙💙🙌🏽🙌🏽👏🏼👏🏼😭😭
"Water from the moon is impossible"... uh, NASA would like to have a word with you.
Thanks for recommending this YT
RIP Harold Russell (January 14, 1914 - January 29, 2002), aged 88
And
RIP Christopher Reeve (September 25, 1952 - October 10, 2004), aged 52
You both will be remembered as legends.

Anyone knows what’s the original Indonesian translation? 0:43
That is nice, Oscars! : )
Nice to see this over the years
Crip Camp has been nominated for Best Documentary
Shame you didn’t even nominate Peanut Butter Falcon
What would you not have nominated instead?
I thought that Little Women, Marriage Story and Jojo rabbit were all quite below average, didn’t really add anything interesting to the competition, and were otherwise nominated to fill diversity quotas aside from their actually quality
@@frishf8888 But 2 of the movies you mentioned star white men. I'm confused. Well, I'm sure some people would've said the same thing about the movie starring an actor with Down syndrome.
I thought Marlee Matlin could speak
Wait I’m confused? So the cop from internal affairs knew they were setting him up this whole time?
Why i havent see 'em before?
Because you didn't have internet probably
Becose the dint give a f till it became fashion becose of the loliticsl correctness. They are trying to fool you.

I dont see disabilities I mean legit they are winners more than I'll ever be more than a comment
Would be nice if you can change the title...They are specially abled...Not disabled
Nooo pretty sure they’re disabled
Don't get too mushy. It's not a gift to be disabled.
Trust me on that. I've been disabled since 1966 from events in Vietnam. I still don't feel it's a special gift. Any happiness I may have looked forward to, has been taken from me. That wasn't a gift. It isn't special. It's HORRIBLE.
Exactly.That's what I tought.I mean,c'mon Linda Hunt was not a disable person.
i am a disabled and i MUCH prefer to be called disabled. most of us hate the term “specially abled”
We’re not handicapped! We’re…HANDICAPABLE
Stunning and brave of the Oscars to continue this celebration by disabling their likes/dislikes and comments. It's like poetry.
1:01 not anymore
Who was the first man?
The name is right there at the bottom- his name is Harold Russell, he was a WWII veteran, only one of two non professional actors to win an Academy award for acting
@@Necromancer0225 thanks
@@Necromancer0225 Who's the other non-professional?
Wouldn’t it have been cool if The Academy acknowledged the existence of Motherless Brooklyn
How are Linda Hunt and Michael J Fox disabled?
She has dwarfism and he has Parkinson’s disease
Linda Hunt has Dwarfism Michael J Fox has Parkinsons
I would have so much respect for this channel if they snuck in that clip of John Travolta saying Idina Menzel’s name lol
Hello Academy- Linda Hunt? Are you kidding me?
💚💫💜💫💚
Inspire
@Pastor Rev Ron meyer damn your like on everyone's comments 🤣🤣
Disabilities at the oscar .seriously !!!
😍😍😍
الكبر لله وحده سبحانه
Was this video really needed? The title? Seriously?
It’s vital to remind people that the disabled community holds a wealth of talent. We are so dismissed, so marginalized. Without these examples, the disabled will continue to be under employed in the industry. There is a rising tide of remarkable talent out there and the entertainment business needs to promote diversity and inclusion of the disabled to challenge the horrible stereotypes that we are less than or worse, invisible.
@@JLeBrecht if it is about equality and inclusion, then it shouldn't be highlighted what the differences in appearance are. It shouldn't matter how one looks or what disease they carry. This distinguishing element adds to the stereotype that indeed these people are somehow lesser individuals that need a 'separate' mention. And even if you wish to concede to their 'uniqueness' on a public platform, 'disabilities at the oscars' is one hell of a problematic term to refer to someone. A more respectful and uplifting language could be used.
@@faizanabdullah4977 I am very glad to have a dialog with you about this. So, first off, thank you for replying. I don't completely agree that if one separates out people with disabilities that this means that they are "somehow lesser". I think that one can look at other marginalized communities, like female directors, for example, and apply the same justification for wanting to highlight women as an important artistic force in Hollywood that has been overlooked, or worse, denied opportunities because of their sex. Sexism and Ableism exist. How we counteract that calls for a number of different tactics. This video is just one part of a campaign that is needed to open up minds to include people like myself in hiring decisions. Not just to be nice. But because it makes good business sense.
@@JLeBrecht Hmm. Yes. I do see your point. Thank you for enlightening me about the subject.
, 😍😍😍😍😍
Amy Schumer isn't on this; forgotten as always.
Not so super any more
Wow
The oscars are so....
Progressive...!!!?????
The Academy the suitable word here is "Specially Abled" or "Differently Abled".
No, Amit, from a disabled person myself, so many of us prefer “disabled”. Euphemisms don’t help. These terms are simply inaccurate to me.
#firekathleenkennedy
Disabilities are OK but woman with libertarian opinions are not. Nice.
Why tf are they that obsessed with the inclusivity all of the sudden? They make a fool of themselves. They didnt give a fuck about it till it became fashion to do it. DISGUSTING.
Idiot
You're right. I find it so patronising, just another form of inspiration porn, like the International Day of People with a Disability (which is today incidentally, December 3). All these days, months, whatever, are just ways for normies to feel good about themselves.
Straight white guy here.
As inspiring as seeing Christopher Reeve was, I DON'T want this for film. I want to be entertained, not lectured and telling me that "white people like me are evil" i'm sick and tired of Hollywood insulting me and my political and religious beliefs and painting us as racist bigots. Clint Eastwood once said about message and social issue films " If you want to send a message, call western union" Film should entertain FIRST. lecture second.
