I follow you mainly for developing the skill of singing but I just want to say that I deeply appreciate how I keep learning little bits of the history of music, as if by accident, as I learn from your videos and lessons as well.
Thank you so much! I got into the habit a while back when I started up a tiny opera company called Opera Here (my other YT channel if you want to have a look) which was all about helping people who wouldn't normally hear opera to understand and appreciate it. I'm glad you like it! Happy Singing. 🎶😁
FABULOUS! This song is so pretty - I have always loved it and would love to sing it but don't have a Mezzo partner - sigh! I would sing it all myself but it wouldn't work correctly. Still, I might "play around" with it and see what happens. Thank you though for the tuition and everything else, and of course the singalong. You are totally AMAZING.
@@dianeshepherdlyricsoprano1394 Hi Diane. It is very lovely, and I never tire of singing it. You can just about make it work as a Sop solo if you sing the opening Mezzo bars and then the low "versez" triads then jumping to the sop part on "nos baisers". I honestly think Offenbach would be happier to have you singing it as a sop solo than not singing it at all! Thank you for singing with me - I love having you here (and I've subscribed to you. I love your content - your passion for singing shines through!) 🎶😁
@@singingtips1 Dear Lois (hope you don't think I am being too familiar!) OH, A BIG BIG THANK YOU for your fabulous reply. I really welcome your advice. I think what "put me off" was that when you sang with both voices, it really DID sound so heavenly and I have only ever heard it performed with two voices in the past, but you have given me confidence and I shall definitely try, taking into account what you have said. It was quite "witty" about what Offenbach would have thought about the "one voice", and if YOU are happy with that, and Offenbach would have been, then I certainly am! I have a motto - "Never Say Never". What I cannot do today, I WILL do tomorrow! Thank you so much for writing back and for the subscription - I am honoured! 🙏❤🎤
@@dianeshepherdlyricsoprano1394 Hi Diane. The soprano tutorial is coming out soon (my amazing Sound Guy is busy editing 😘) then you'll be able to give it a go - as a soprano solo, or as a duet with me singing the mezzo part. Let me know how you get on - I'd love to hear it! 😁🎶
I really love this video. I’ve been doing it in bits because first of all I have to learn the French language, which is not natural for me. Then there is the factor of learning one part of a duet because of course I’m used to solos, but it’s all quite fascinating. I’ve been working on it every other night since you first released it and I’m making quite good progress. Tonight I actually went to the sing-along section and was fascinated to see that there were two of you. It’s going to be so fun singing along with you. Once I get this mezzo part worked out. It is such a beautiful song and I’m really excited about it. Thank you so much for doing this. I see the soprano part just got posted but I think I’m going to stick with the mezzo part for a while. it certainly is a new experience for me and it’s going to be a lot of fun. I’m actually learning the French not just by ear but by watching the shape of your mouth. if I shape my lips just like you shape yours I seem to get the right sound. it’s all great fun and you are a marvelous teacher.
@@SherryWidmer Yes! My Sound Guy made 2 of me!! It pays with my head, tbh 🤯! I hope you don't get too confused about which part to sing. Let me know how you get on with it! 😁🎶
Tahnk you! I am so glad I found your postings. You are a great teacher.
@@monicasoos3645 Welcome! I'm happy you found me. 😁🎶
Thank you for doing this tutoring session. It’s very helpful!
@@mhz00544 You're welcome. Quite a few people had asked for it, so I was happy to oblige! 😁🎶
