Picked this watch up for an absolute bargain - I talk through the watch, plenty of close up action on the watch as always and WOW - its looks the business.
Congratulations Andrew for this once-in-a-lifetime present from your Parents. Just picked mine on bracelet, with the stunning blue dial. It's a timeless masterpiece, for today, and in decades, too. Sportswatch on a bracelet, dress watch on a leather strap. What a Beauty!
It's a gorgeous watch and I can't understand why it's not more popular than the date just. It's simply a better watch whether technically or looks wise. I'd rather have the blue version though.... One negative is the fit on thin wrists. The case is a great shape but it's not a wrist hugger. Finally why Omega won't adjust the lack of micro adjustment is beyond me. Other companies have can add it to a butterfly so why can't Omega??
I think the reason being is bc of the look of the fit/correct proportions. In the sartorial world, there's a saying that "fit is king" .. meaning that if faced with a drastic choice between something that is high quality brand but incorrect fit vs a lesser renowned brand but correct fitted, one should ALWAYS choose the latter. It's about the how the clothes or accessory make the person look/ compliment the look, rather than, all focus on the accessory itself. So basically, your choice would be you would like the rolex date just over the globemaster, IF the sizes were reversed. Honestly you would.
It's video like this that cause us to look into models that are not so common. It makes you realise there's more to this watch stuff than speedys and submariners! Thanks again for a great video
Omega has not marketed the watch effectively. I also believe, particularly in relation to other omega lines, a few more dial colors for the basic model with tungsten bezel. The annual calendar for example has a stunning green as o recall. Maybe something with texture. There’s so much opportunity for them with this line. It would be a shame if they failed to develop this line a bit more, from its base offerings.
Great review. I have had the Globemaster in my sights for a few months now, but the lockdown is still in the way. At that price you made the only right decision. The bracelet looks beautiful too, by the way!

This same Globemaster is my goal watch, I will get it sooner or later - with just one change though: gonna put it on a brown leather strap. It's definitelly one of those classic watches that will always keep it's charm.
Ive adored my Globemaster since 2016 - You mentioned you've never seen it appear silver BUT that's the reall joy of this watch..even now it continues to surprise me and reveal new things. One day you'll get tons of silver then next day it'll look pearly white.
Good video, man. I'm looking a white dial watch and never thought about the Globemaster. It looks awesome. It's a bit pricey, but I do really like the way it looks. I'm finally starting to appreciate a fluted bezel. You've got a super-classy watch.
That pie pan design has to be one of Omega's most famous design cues...I love seeing that on those vintage Constellations, so yeah, it's great they have brought that back, but it still looks so modern. I think because of all the brushed surface it's more of that everyday watch you can wear to anything. Hope that bracelet is a perfect fit otherwise there's gonna be some explaining to do next Christmas if it's not around 😉. Great review and Go Yankees! ( i mean Fightin' Irish!)

What an awesome watch. I’m a bracelet guy too. I hope it fits you. It’s a concern of mine with omega bracelets. No micro adjusts. Puts me off. Like you said... the bracelet needs to fit properly. I’d have bought a Railmaster by now if not for the bracelet. Keeps making me hold off.
I think the Globe master is a beautiful watch, defo would have the Globemaster over the Aqua Terra and I think you chose the right colour dial considering your Rolex date just 41 has the gorgeous blue dial , the same as the President of the United States Joe Biden , he has the Date just 41 in blue on a jubilee bracelet 👍🏻 - what a wonderful gift from your family, bless them 🙏🏻👏👏💯
Not sure if it’s unpopular, but more people myself included tend to prefer tool watches as opposed to more dressy watches or out and out dress watches. It’s a gorgeous looking thing.
A very handsome and quality piece. Only two negatives IMO. 1) Lack of a screw-down crown. 2) Lack of a quick set date (although it has quick set hour). Love the use of tungsten carbide for the bezel....a technically appropriate and pleasant looking feature. Contrast with Rolex's gold bezels...technically a very poor choice of material, based on glitz and appearance alone.
Great comments,,, and I agree with the screw down crown, considering it had the same movement as my Planet Ocean the Globemaster is so much tricky to wind.
Great review. I also never gave the globemaster a second thought, but you make some compelling points on why to take another look. I do want to see it on the bracelet and hear what you think. It's crazy to think this quality is readily available, and for discounts, while other brands have a never ending waitlist, let alone to even see a watch in person.
I have been lusting after the 2 tone blue dial blue leather globemaster for some time now. Yours looks great in white btw. Such an under rated and unknown watch. I discovered it on the urban gentry, he dose a great review and history of it. Well worth a look. 👍

Also the 39mm is absolutely nailing it 👌 Rolex though..... even though they are technically inferior to modern Omega, they are the bollox though aren't they. Just the way it is.
I think this is now my favourite omega watch. Hadn't seen it before your channel. I'm a week off getting an explorer 1 from an AD so might have to add this to my wish list in a few years. You got a great price on the watch! 👍haven't seen it in many dealers in the UK jewllers - will have to keep an eye out.

I absolutely love it mate. It’s defo a me kind of watch. Where you like bracelets I like my leather straps and watches that edge towards the dressy side. I do have some sporty pieces but I don’t wear those as much. Good video and I’m glad you are forced to keep it 😂😂😂

It’s a watch that’s been on my radar for a while, it’s like the thinking mans datejust (I’ve owned a few DJs so not a hater) but I also like the all brushed bracelet- hate the polished centre links on the aqua terra. I also like the date at 6- which appeases my minor ocd around symmetry 😂 One minor concern I had with the globemaster was the lower beat rate- do you notice it or not?
Superb taste my friend! I’m homing in on this reference myself. But I wouldn’t say it uses a de facto “better” movement than a modern 41mm Datejust - the co-axial movement isn’t really anything special in my opinion but I don’t care. This is the most beautiful, elegant and understated Omega ever and the only Omega I’d buy over a Rolex actually, so I want the Platinum version (or 18K white gold, if need be) as replacement for my 70s era Cartier tank. I do need an updated formal/dress watch and after all my searching and nearly going with a platinum 36mm Day-Date, I discovered this and it’s everything I’ve been looking for.
I’d definitely not consider it a dress watch. A GADA sports watch is what I call it. GADA because, particularly on the bracelet, it’s sporty enough, yet with straps etc it can be classy as f***!
Still waiting for mine to arrive :( It's on the bracelet and i know there are lots of little links to take out or add so i'm hoping for the perfect fit, if it arrives this millennia that is >.
I had the Globemaster and sold it after a couple of months. I think it just doesn't have soul. Too much open space on the dial, all indices are exactly the same, date at 6, completely symmetrical, boring stick hands... There is just nothing happening on the dial. Also the pie pan dial is too cowardly executed. Almost not visible at a glance.
@@watchandrew I appreciate the response. I live in a tropical country, and the humidity, wet and dry seasons (and therefore, dust) are constant considerations. It is a magnificent looking watch, no doubt.

@@watchandrew Yea I did that with a GS I bought at one point it was basically everything I did not care for in a watch and it became my go to watch for way over a year. I was always a one watch guy now I have small collection of mechanical I have nothing automatic anymore again after buying a weird watch but that has led me to what I really enjoy. All via things I would never have had if I did not just try something different.
Beautiful watch Andrew and I would say it's a "dress watch ". But so is the datejust . I would happily wear the globe master but for me no way is it in the same league as the datejust 41 . Theres a reason why you can get omegas at discount and to get Rolex you have to pay a premium usually . Omega bracelets for me really let a lot of their watches down . Rolex bracelets are on a different level . Having said all this the globemaster is a nice watch and hope you have many years enjoyment from it mate 👍
Rolex the brand is hyped. You can't deny that. Take a look at the DJ specs vs the Globemaster specs. The Globemaster is a better watch but The Rolex has the hype behind it. I type this as I am wearing a Submarinier.
@@bdg5593 if there was no substance to the hype it would fall apart. It shows no signs of this . And as for the crazy shortages and wait lists, which is a relatively new thing . Rolex was still more popular . As for being better watch , that's your opinion. Compared to a quartz battery £100 watch they both cant compare with time keeping . Does that make it a superior piece . I'm not trying to dump on omega , they make some nice watches . Any comparable omega against a Rolex and for me I'm taking the Rolex . Before your say it's because of the hype and value retention that's not the case . I'm a 50 year old man with my own mind and I know what I like. And I have always liked Rolex , way before all this recent brand craziness

I think the watches that become what we enjoy the most are the ones we never think we like. At least for me it has become the norm.

Rolex the brand is hyped. You can't deny that. Take a look at the DJ specs vs the Globemaster specs. The Globemaster is a better watch but The Rolex has the hype behind it. I type this as I am wearing a Submarinier.
@@bdg5593 if there was no substance to the hype it would fall apart. It shows no signs of this . And as for the crazy shortages and wait lists, which is a relatively new thing . Rolex was still more popular . As for being better watch , that's your opinion. Compared to a quartz battery £100 watch they both cant compare with time keeping . Does that make it a superior piece . I'm not trying to dump on omega , they make some nice watches . Any comparable omega against a Rolex and for me I'm taking the Rolex . Before your say it's because of the hype and value retention that's not the case . I'm a 50 year old man with my own mind and I know what I like. And I have always liked Rolex , way before all this recent brand craziness

@@watchandrew hope it looks the part and feels comfortable. I know your always supposed to get the bracelet if you can and I do agree . But sometimes a really nice leather or quality fabric strap is nice for a change 👍Is it not your wife's DJ 🤣🤣

Nothing compared to rolex ! Rolex is a gold standard for swiss watches industry, omega is a follower to that standard which rolex set already!
