I saw Shinedown in one of their very first performances when they were an unknown backup act. They were the first of two warmup acts before Three Doors Down. They blew me away. Went out and bought their first CD, and every CD since that one.
There is a live album Somewhere in the Stratosphere. Live and acoustic in Kansas City. The place Shinedown calls thier 2nd home. They talk about and explain all the songs. Very cool and worth a listen.
Saw Shinedown when they were opening for Van Halen. They were on their way home and stopped in Tallahassee and played a show at Floyd’s. I stood no more that 4 feet away from Brent thru the whole show. It’s was just Brent and Jasin Todd sitting on stools for this song and Simple Man. I have never heard a bar crowd so quite for this song. The original version of Shinedown with Jasin Todd and Brad Stewart will always be the greatest line up to me. That was one of the best shows I have ever seen.
I’ve seen them several times live and loved them. They are one of my top 3 bands and Brent Smith, the singer, is very into trying to be a motivational and inspiring person. And he really tries to convey a message of hope and love to people. My favorite song by them is called better version off their first album.
Call Me, I dare you, Burning Bright, and Get Up are all songs you really need to look up. They're all about learning how to believe in yourself despite or because of your faults.
Some very goid songs, Kate!! I do agree!! I would also play Save Me....another great one...about addiction...that Brent, The Lead Singer battled for years and said he wrote this song for that reason!!
@@DawnMGP58 Yes, Save Me would be a perfect song for Ty to react to. I Dare You would be another great one, and Get Up from his newest album. There's just so many to choose from. His earlier work is definitely some of his best, though. If you can find it, look up Shinedowns version of Burning Bright with Halestorm. I don't know if they ever released it on youtube, but on their delux album they did a duet version of that song that will just blow your mind.
@@katemccrea6963 Yeah, it was mentioned in a lot of different interviews. There were a lot of great songs that came from that album, but I agree that Devil was one of the best.

Matt254 Neatherlin That wasn’t their first song. It was the first song released from their second album. “Fly From the Inside” was their debut song with “45” and “Simple Man” to follow.
Save me is a good song, but this song, 45, is the first song that got them popular. Only not this version. This one and fly from the inside and simple man were HUGE songs off the first record.
I was in Iraq when this song came out I came home I couldn't tell my wife or my parents how I felt I told them to play this song and it will let them know they cried and so did I
Man, thanks for your service. I'm gonna be enlisting soon, and i can sense that i probably don't know what I'm getting into, as in i'll probably get fucked up, but you know. I'll never know if i don't do it.
I've heard the regular version of this song before, but this is my first time hearing the acoustic. It definitely has a different vibe. I think the original might have more raw power going on, what with the other added instrumentation, and some background vocals, and if you can believe it, his voice is even MORE intense. But there's something beautiful about this version too. It feels like the person has reached a real point of desperation and they don't know what to do. (To me, the original sounds like they're still in the pissed-off and fighting against whatever life has thrown at them stage.) I'm glad that you enjoyed it. All of their songs that I've heard are packed so full of emotion, I can't help being drawn to them. If you get a chance, even if you don't react to it, try looking up the original of this song too, just so you can hear the difference in the tone and emotion. Also, a few other songs by Shinedown that I would HIGHLY recomend! "I Dare You" "Follow You Down" "Diamond Eyes"
Brent actually got me into Chris Cornell there are similar with there vocals but Brent didn't copy him. Although I did hear him do a verse from a soundgarden song spot on to Chris. Even when he did a tribute cover Black Hole Sun at a Smith and Myers show he still sounded like Brent. Wish I appreciated Chris when he was alive.
Check out Shawn james! ! He has so much passion and emotions in his music. And he's a one man band. Check him out please. My favorite song in...that's life...a frank sinatra cover.
The lead singer Brent Smith's voice just gives me the chills! I absolutely love Shinedown! I can't wait to see more reactions to Shinedown!
The raw emotion of an acoustic session is absolutely the best way experience the music.
I love Shinedown ❤
His voice is beautiful.
I've seen them live. You're spot on Ty. The raw real talent is even more apparent live. They're great no matter what, but live.....WOW!
Ann Steiger yeah, saw them at a five finger death punch concert and they KILLED IT

And fly from the inside . Love shinedown so much and the songs you names are all my favorites
I love this song and their cover of simple man so much. Thanks for reacting to it. You should do shinedown- fly from the inside.
Simple Man cover is Amazing...!
A couple great rockin tracks from them are Cut the Cord and Enemies.
By far my favorite showdown song. most people don't give their first album alot of props. Good choice bro!!
You should definitely check out their song, GET UP. The singer wrote it for his best friend (the band's bassist) who is currently battling depression.
I didn't realize Get Up was about the Bassist. I think that and Devil is some of their best off the new album.

If Shinedown is coming near you on their current tour do yourself a favor and GO SEE THEM. Their live show is absolutely amazing.
Seen them live in the early 2000’s the sound is just as good
Within me a demon does hide
Feeding upon my pride
Leaving me an empty shell
I find myself living in my own personal hell
You see the pain flows from my eyes
As my blue skies
Are replaced with a never-ending rain
As my demon laughs at My Pain
You see me as I want you to
For the pain within me would make you blue
The light in my eyes is only a reflection
For I suffer from an internal affliction
That snuffs out any light
In the darkness I have no sight
Lost now within my own skin
I feel myself in a spin
For this is who I truly am
What you see is a scam
People hate the words that I write
For they are not a pretty sight
You see the pain I feel is real
So I write what I feel
My poetry peels back the mask
It really is a healing task
For too long from these feelings I hid
Wishing things were the same as when I was a kid
For you see my adult life
Has always been filled with strife
My reality forever scarred
These scars number more than there are stars
The scars Run Deep
Even in my dreams I weep
To escape this pain is my dream
Yet everyday I wake to my own screens
Fo you see my eyes are now blind
To those who so desperately want to be kind
Self hate and Loathing is all I see
No more happiness for me
When I die I pray for the pain to be gone
For my life has been a hell of my own
So when you read what I say
Remember to stay sane words are my way
Yes the pain lies under my skin
But don't worry I'll never commit the ultimate sin
For the words that I write set me free
Allowing me to see
My pain in a Different Light
Till my last breath I will fight
For tomorrow is a new day
With my words I will find a way
Away to make it through
For my words are always true
