- The 1976 UEFA Cup Final played over two-legs between Liverpool of England and Club Brugge of Belgium on 28 April 1976 and 19 May 1976 at Anfield, Liverpool and the Olympiastadion, Brugge. It was the final of the 1975--76 season of Europe's secondary cup competition, the UEFA Cup. Liverpool were appearing in their second final; they had won the competition in 1973. Brugge were appearing in their first European final and were the first Belgian team to reach the final of a European competition.
Watched by a crowd of 49,981 at Anfield, Brugge took a two-goal lead in the first half of the first leg when Raoul Lambert and Julien Cools scored. Liverpool recovered in the second half; three goals in seven minutes from Ray Kennedy, Jimmy Case, and Kevin Keegan secured a 3--2 victory in the first leg for Liverpool. A crowd of 29,423 at the Olympiastadion saw Brugge take the lead in the 11th minute of the second leg. Liverpool equalised four minutes later when Keegan scored. The scores remained the same throughout the remainder of the match, resulting in a 1--1 draw. Thus, Liverpool won the final 4--3 on aggregate to secure their second UEFA Cup.
Ray kennedy is so under-rated
Liverpool fans have much passion of this game ,they are simply the best in the world
I was at that match on the kop. Jimmy case came on and turned that game around. What a underrated player he was.
I get goosebumps watching the kop rolling forward like an ocean!!!
I was 9 years old. I saw this game. Club Brugge still my team after all these years.
me to ik ook
A superb club...in the belgian tradition..
Keurig Henk
It was a clash of two great managers,Bob Paisley against Ernst Happel
Ray Kennedy what a player
Ray Kennedy RIP liverpool legend!!!
Nothing to touch those 1970's European nights at Anfield.
Don't know we have had a few goodins the last few years ! Barcelona, dortmund. these have to rank up there as well.
WHAT A FANTASTIC NIGHT 🌙 THE END . MIND BLOWING SOUND FROM A KOP 😅😮😊
Liverpool - European royalty of England.
30 years without premier
@@charlenegatt1769 ...why are you watching Liverpool videos?
@@charlenegatt1769 Football wasn't started in 1992 idiot.
@@charlenegatt1769 19 league titles , 6 CLs....keep talking trash....Utd went 41 years with no league title, Chelsea and city even worse
@@charlenegatt1769 said what? 19th league title
The best english football team.
Keegan...the most under-rated English player since the war...magnificent.
Underrated??
I remember Keegan being viewed in 1976 as the best player in English football. His move in 77 was devastating to Liverpool fans but then Dalglish came in.
" Keegan Turning Brilliantly....Kennedy Again !!! And Case !!!!!!!!!!.......... 2-2 " One Of The Best Bits Of Commentary I Have Ever Heard ( Gerald Sinstadt 1930 - 2021 ) ....Look At The Kop Just Rock ...You'd Never See That Intensity In Crowds Nowadays.... Thanks For Uploading...A Sad Loss For One Of Britain's Finest Football Commentators/Journalists.....
Undoubtedly *the* highlight in the existence of Club Brugge.
This was the beginning of the Bob Paisley Liverpool, one change at half time (Jimmy Case) showed the way we were becoming a class European side
Kop....simply fantastic...
Keenan
Greatest footballer in world 🌎 ❤1977
Number 7
I was in the kop that night it was a great game my dad was in the paddock standing next to two FC Bruges fans they were awe struck by the noise the kop made...
no comparison these days from the kop. it was immense when we were all standing. noise was incredible. few times i been to anfield last few years you could hear a pin drop for half of the game. sad really, but hey it is what it is.
Can still remember how shell shocked I felt when Bruges went 2-0 up.
The Kop was simply fantastic: incredible noise and incredible supporters yesterday and now! YNWA
@@nicolavivarelli4127 Some major swaying going on. ESP. when Ray Kennedy hit the post and case knocked in the rebound......woh I was catapulted what seemed like thirty feet down from the middle to near the bottom of the KOP. Happy days.
I was at the first leg at Anfield and the semi against Barcelona with the great Johann Cruyff...a long time ago now, well 43 years.
Ray Kennedy great player very underrated .
he was mate, one of my favourites from those years.
None of liverpool players were underrated
@@parisstromatias637 why not?
@@Alvinegro-rp9nd because all of them were individuals perfect for any position they were chosen and all of them could tribel the ball and also especially the 2 defenders Alan Hansen and Johnson which were tall guys theye could handle the ball almost like Kevin keegan every player was a complete player using their heads and all of them could score a goal and the 11 of them
@@parisstromatias637 oh okay. I only asked because almost nobody talks a lot about this generation of 73 to 77 from liverpool, most of them only remember the dalglish and soundess that is 78 and up. I think these liverpool players are underestimated because almost nobody talks about them
Toen konden we nog onze beste spelers in het land houden voordat de geldreuzen uit het buitenland ze altijd moeten wegpakken.
Clubliefde is verte zoeken deze tijd.
Good to see these having been too young to be there at the time!
3 goals in 5 minutes, yep things haven't changed much! :D
Gotta give credit to club Brugge, a team of wich i am still a fan of, tbey did do good to score against Liverpool
Thanks. Baku city
The tackle for the penalty was outside the box.
If it were true these sort of decisions "tend" iron themselves out. Check out LFC V Bayern 1981 Euro cup. second leg Howard Gayle -foul ( disallowed . clear pen). shit happens.
By far the Best....
Великая команда тогда была у Ливерпуля.Успехи продолжаются и сейчас.
Ray Kennedy Liverpool legend RIP
Bruges were brilliant going forward in this game in 76 but were so negative in the European Cup final in 1978, there keeper jensen was a very good keeper though !
I remember this well as 11 year old ... why are they showing European Cups on the bottom bar of this video, I will never know as this was The U.E.F.A. Cup Final
Great memories
This is our second European major trophy as club, before winning good old big ears 4 times in late 70s & 80s.
Must have been 2 great games.
fc bruges
The best fc brugg too. Fair-play ;-)
I was born 1977 , from the kop Of Thailand
Not sure what the Brugge goalie doing on that Keegan freekick.
All for 50p to get in
£49 return flight for the 2nd leg
You can’t get in for that now
How’s the party going now Gerald Sinstadt
Il n ' y avait pas de pénalty ,la faute a été commise a l ' extérieur du rectangle .
Oui
It wasn't a penalty - it was outside the box ? Is this the correct translation?
my fav reds game of all time..the noise, fantastic goals...even better than st etienne somehow.....you can keep modern day footie, rubbish
I think it was the feeling that night that we were the underdogs the underlings, some small club in Europe. We came of age that night and literally put Liverpool on the map. The rest is history...
Manchester United and city never be has good has liverpool because i love liverpool since 1974 and yes i love the Beatles has im from Leicester up the reds
Kevin Keegan came up trump's in Belgium 👌👌
Le penalty la faute est en dehors de la surface....
