Terry McDermott what a legend and Tommy Smith sadly missed. I remember him stopping for me and my mate after we shouted his name when he was driving his car in Blundellsands Crosby around 1977 after we’d won the European Cup for the first time. He signed his autograph on a piece of paper he had in his glove box and I still have it to this day. As a 12 year old back then I was blown away by his kindness and sense of humour 😎 R.I.P. Tommy, a true LFC legend and lovely man too…

The number of Liverpool fans there was incredible - far outnumbering the Germans. I remember the 'Oh Joey Joey Jones' song being sung in every cafe in Rome that day, and there were red and white flags in the Coliseum everywhere you looked. Also remember everybody was friendly, the two sets of fans drinking together with not a hint of trouble. No police presence, it wasn't needed.

Bloody Movietone garbage. This type of commentary was at least 30 years out of date even in 1977. Patronising and completely ignorant of the game - may as well have been describing children having a kick-around in a playground. It had long been out of fashion on proper televised sports, and Barry Davies was the new style at the Beeb. Informed, engaging and for me really nostalgic.

Just an observation, but back then, and for some time still to come, every fan of our top teams, and even those who were not especially Football fans, could name and recognise those player's, by face and name, and actually pronounce them. Money bought the extra-talented foreign player's to our sides, but damaged our National Team. ( in my opinion ). Today, few player's are local hero's.

The editing is atrocious. This is without doubt the worst highlights package I have ever seen

I flew from Belfast to Rome to see this match. I had no ticket. I was 25. A very decent Borrusia fan had an extra ticket and gave it to me. Greatest night of my life !!!
