Outstanding instruction! I was taught that if you stay for a knife fight by choice or by force, be prepared to bleed at the minimum. If they have extensive experience, you are going to die.
Nice. Thanks Kevin - you are spot on the money. First thing I was ever told when I made it to my unit - 9 times out of 10 - you are going to get cut. Train with a sharpie (and that's just the tip lol) - and people see how fast this happens! Kicks help a lot. Valuable info in your content!
Again a very interesting video, my friend. This weekend I'll have my first knife defense training. Eventhough you can crossover some of your knowledge from non-armed fighting arts, a weapon in your opponents hand brings a whole new dimension to the fight. Very menacing indeed, like you said.
Great video Kevin, I really enjoyed hearing your take on these tips. I've heard and trained many of them before, but you gave me some new perspectives to look into and explore. Awesome stuff brother
Great video. Listen to this man! My cousin was in a division of elite military and also a street fighter. He told me that he once ask his instructor how to defend against knives (hoping to use the technique on street) and the instructor replied "What the fuck do you think I make you run 6 miles on daily basis for? "
@@Combatprofessor Many good memories of your seminar here in Singapore. And that gut punch that almost blew my head out. Looking forward to training with you again.
Truly excellent. I would add training the balance and tactile sensitivity is critical... balance enables keeping your feet under you to escape and kicking, to keep the knifer away.
One self defence weapon that I don't think gets enough attention is a high lumen flashlight. At the very least they render you more or less invisible to your attacker, and at best they can temporarily blind an attacker and encourage their retreat. Not to mention a flashlight no matter how bright is not legally (or otherwise for that mater) considered a weapon, so you can feel free to carry it without consequence in countries with draconian weapon laws such as here in Canada or the UK.
You just need to be careful with carry on. Twice I’ve had them confiscated from carry on while travelling through U.S. connections and that gets pricey. lol
Thank you very much. I've seen more melee weapons than I'd like to admit especially as I never worked in the security sector and the scariest part was that I've never been mugged! The first time, a group of late teens threatened me and three others to slaughter us like pigs and there was absolutely no provocation from our side. Later someone went after me in a fit of rage that I didn't deserve and once a simple argument escalated beyond comprehension. I thought we traded insults and now we're tired of it, but he came back with a weapon... the worst part of it it became a feud that lasted over a year...
@@Combatprofessor Thank you. I survived mostly by dumb luck. Most situations, I could solve by getting people between me and them... The scariest one, men much better than me could not have solved by fighting or running, but that bunch of teen apparently had no real intention in murdering us; they just had a sick joy from scaring the crap out of two mothers and their kids... it's so frustrating, when you know that there's nothing you can do about a situation and even later not even the cops do something about it...
From a purely technique standpoint, what's your preferred method of engaging the knife if you have to? I saw in the video some striking off of a Russian arm/2-on-1, is that where you're aiming to end up?
Absolutely. The 2-on-1 is my preference. We subdivide the baseball bat grip -2 hands on wrist and the Russian 2-on-1 andctrain fkuenct and transitions in both with heavy e Phases on head spearing and low line attacks
This is excellent instruction. In fact, I've never before seen knife defense instruction presented according to these very sensible points. Excellent.
Thanks Robert
Great summary. Always enjoy your reasoned and intelligent approach to this subject and the design of your workshops and drills.
Thanks as always for watching. I really appreciate it.

This is the best overview of knife defense that I've . I've been doing Martial arts since I was fifteen.
That’s very kind. Thanks for watching.
Kevin, you're spoiling people with all of these great videos lately.
Glad you are enjoying it. Much more to come.

Yep. Agreed.
Thank you, Kevin. I appreciate your insight.

Thank you. Sharpies are indeed instructive. Less permanent ink is a little kinder on the wardrobe :)
Very sensible, thanks for sharing your wisdom
Thank you for watching.
This was a well produced and polished production. Good info too. :)

great concept

Thanks Kevin. Appreciate your generosity. 😄👍🏼
Thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any requests.

Me too. One of my all time favourite trips. You have a great crew. Next time I promise no gut punches. Lol.

Absolutely agree. That is hugely important and so overlooked. Thanks for watching.
Great video!
Thanks Greg
Haha Secour means Helps in French. Thanks for the help
Good stuff.
Thanks James
@@Combatprofessor Kevin. You're too kind. You're obviously skilled in business as well as martial arts.
Run today , live to fight another day
Kevin this was useful thank you and hey if you remember I ask what shoes are best for stealth well I got decent ones that seem stealth enough.
That’s awesome. I hope you enjoy them.

Absolutely. I’m a huge advocate. I just steered clear of them here because I had published this last week

I also have three other older videos that apply: ruclips.net/video/jT5eVv43JvI/видео.html

Long story short, I have a keen interest in realistic self-defense, but I never came across any school teaching it at least in my region...
I’m just glad you’re safe and made it out of those.

Lol
Fuir reste le top, après si ça arrive dans un ascenceur...maintenir la distance hmmm me faut plusieurs années de CQC là.
