1. Since I just had to go and bring up benzene, here’s a big disclaimer that I have the report but haven’t had the time to read it (it is, indeed, Ulta’s fault). Seems some of my favorite creators are saying it’s a dud, so there may be nothing to worry about at all.
2. Sephora is copying Ulta’s homework again. And good, I’m glad they are, as that ANR duo was sold out before I even woke up (I am absolutely not losing sleep for this sale, no ma’am.) Sephora typically switches their sale over between 5-6 AM EST vs Ulta’s 1 AM EST. Worth checking if you’re more on my schedule than Ulta’s late night schedule.
Ok that’s all I have to add, thanks for tuning in and hope you all enjoy shopping if you’re shopping this sale, or stay strong if you’re on a low/no buy!

The ONLY change from last sale I DO like is the second-chance sales on Saturdays. This change I do hope they continue.

I definitely think the worst part about this change is not being able to choose between products from week to week. I definitely used to want at least two different moisturizers for example. I might be annoyed enough that I’ll actually be shopping less. I’ll be so interested to see how this works for Ulta and if they keep this format for the next sale!

I’m wondering that as well. I feel some of us will buy less out of annoyance/frustration, but I do think some folks will buy a lot more. It will be interesting to see how many returns this leads to!

I placed an online order for the Billie Eilish perfume ($36 for 3.4oz, amazing), a Fenty contour stick and some press -on nails at about 3am on Saturday. It was delivered at about noon on Sunday. People complain about Lasership, but I love it.
Thank you for doing the hard work for us. And for the reminder that there will be other sales if now is not the right time based on finance OR personal stock. I'm in the category of having some budget but needing to finish items and clear shelf space so dial myself back.
I'm team pump and will choose products based on whether they are in a pump container or jar.
You did such an awesome job explaining this Ulta sale, but it’s still super random and I feel a migraine coming on. Yes, that was a run-on sentence. For some reason, insurance only covers nine migraine pills a month, so I am not feeling warm and fuzzy about Ulta this morning. ❤

Thanks for the breakdown and better graphics! I also appreciated your "dont give into the hype" caveat about buying too much. This weekly release format is not helpful when you're trying to stick to a budget. That being said, I have 1850 points and am starting to get that haul glimmer in my eyes. 😂
You could do a nice 1000 points haul worth a $100 “value” ($50 at 50% off). that and the 2000 points level give you the most bang for your buck 😁

I understand what you're saying about these deals because I almost bought Estee Lauder and Beekman. Then I need to tell myself I still have a bunch of skincare left and need to think about the environment, including my bank account.
It’s so close to being finished, but we have to re-popcorn the ceiling (a statement that says without saying, “my house is old” 🤣😂). Turns out it’s hard to find the popcorn ayyy

Alice, the perfect hairspray is Pureology Lock it down. I have fine, blonde hair as well and I’m a hairstylist. It is a strong hold but they do have two lighter hold sprays. It smells so good and preforms amazing. All of them. ♥️

And PS- my mother is THAT PERSON. She has had skin cancer removed from her forehead a few years ago- one of the reasons I got into skincare as a 22 year old. I have placed COUNTLESS SPFS everywhere on her counter- I have done everything- given her all different types, chemical and mineral, US and Korean…
and she just won’t wear it! I don’t understand!!! She rolls her eyes and gets angry when I push her to wear them and whenever I apply own 🙈😭
The ABH story is hard to briefly explain. I’d recommend Smokey glow’s video on the topic (it leads to personal choice at the end of the day, I’d say)
I started wearing sunscreen because I saw that happen to another person in my life. Seemed awful enough that I hope to never experience it myself 😞

lol I use MAC Paint Pots every day. Started with Painterly - I bought it in the Ulta sale a few years ago (I couldn’t afford it back when it was viral, but always wanted it). I use it as a base. In the last Ulta sale I bought Groundwork, and one of my go-to quick eyeshadow looks is Groundwork up to the crease (I have hooded eyes) and on my lower lash line and a shimmery Sephora liquid eyeshadow on the lid. Stays crease-free for such a long time!!!

I really like that Urban Decay concealer. I'm so pale I'm almost blue and it's the first concealer I've found that is a really good match. The brush in the cap is nice quality as well, though it's a pain to clean.

Hello Alice 😄 I am in Canada - so no Ulta shopping for me, but I do enjoy watching your Ulta videos. I do have to mention though, I have tried some products from Beekman 1802 - they started off as a small brand on the home shopping channels (HSN in the US and in Canada we have TSC) - on our home shopping channel is where I was first introduced to them. Long story, long - I also had some irritation to a few of their products, but one of the products that I really do love from them is the Milk Shake Hyaluronic Acid & Squalene facial toner mist (this is very nice). Just as a side note - I am a skincare fan and don't wear makeup - and if any, I am a lover of lippies and mascarar (or falsies). I do have quite the collection of lippies, thanks again - enjoy your content so much! Have a great rest of your evening. 🌸💮🌸
Wait are you me. I used to rave and rave about that mist! I still love it to this day, but I’m cautious not to use it before filming (apparently the pretty glow IRL translates to greasy on camera 😟 ahhh c’est la vie)

Sephora brand! I use them allll the time, more than anything else in my collection (including some that cost a lot more lol)
I will definitely reiterate this in the inevitable Sephora video, which honestly might just be about the Sephora brand itself lol. I’m actually really looking forward to the 30% off!

@@shadowtouched16ooh I have to admit that I actually use a lot of scented products on my body (it’s because I can LOL 🤣 - my face is much more picky!)
That said, I do really like innbeautys body serum - it’s strong though - and Kopari’s body scrub, both which are unscented.
And I’ve repurposed a lot of products to my body as well, yup! Most products that were too strong for my face can still be used on my body, though I have to be a little more careful about my chest area

@AliceintheRabbitHole it does thank you. Most heavily scented things give me headaches and burn my face. Just walking into Sephora, Ulta, BB&B, Lush ect is an instant headache. I still go, I just shove Vasaline up my nose first. Works great. Sometimes add a super small drop of clove or peppermint depending on my mood. But it works on its own.
As for showering and body care, most products with a heavy floral scent are OUT! Adding hot water to that scent, trapped inside the shower with me......ugh so viciously unpleasant. Lmao shivers.
It's incredible how Ulta generally has many offers during the year, I would love for that to happen in Chile.... Hahahaha. A hug Alice and I hope you are very well 🥰

I love the eyeko mascara! It is my favorite tubing mascara and gives the most volume of any I’ve tried. I haven’t tried the new Tarte one or the elf one so can’t compare to those.

This is exactly what I will do - hold onto the products and return if I want something else later instead. I refuse to allow companies to push me into overspending or into over-consumerism. They want to play this game? Then they need to prepared to handle returns. And if they stop allowing returns, I’ll just stop buying. All this marketing nonsense is stupid.

Alice, have you tried the Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong Hold? They also have a medium hold version. If you can tolerate the smell (which I think is lovely and tropical) the hair spray itself is my absolute favorite. It doesn’t make my hair feel too crunchy but it also has good hold.

I have to admit I do prefer a jar when it comes to moisturizers because I like getting every last bit out easily. It drives me batty when product gets stuck inside a pump bottle and u can't scrape it out

I just picked up another Too faced blush. Very pigmented, long lasting powder blush. It is fragranced which is odd for a blush but I really like the smell, very sweet smelling. Beautiful packaging. I love blushes and this formula is one of my favorite powder blushes. I have tequila sunrises and golden hour, both are beautiful

Because it’s so spread out and complicated to plan I know I will be spending much more money than I want. I really hate the change as I used to stock up during the sale but now I know I’ll buy something one week then the next week they’ll be something I want more. Luckily Ulta has a good return policy

The klorane non aerosol dry shampoo is soooo good, it used to my staple repurchase, but now ive found the I dew care tap secret powder dry shampoo and there is no going back.

You can refill the I dew care with Klörane (or briogeo in my case). Saves even more $$!

I saw people saying that but I doubted it from day one. It’s not really Ulta’s sale entirely, as the brands make the determination on pricing (so for example, Estée Lauder told brands: we are permitting you to sell ANR at 50% off today). That’s the catch, it’s not exclusive. Sephora, Nordstrom, anyone can also match that price.
And go figure, Sephora copied it!

Yes definitely, the duo makes a big difference on breakouts. Those are two of my must-haves at this point (which is a short list tbh!)
I used to love DHC Brand-but I didn’t know that about their CEO. But I stopped using them because they were so non-environmentally friendly. Still anything I’ve tried from them has really been pretty darn good but their pricing is a little bit high. He apparently didn’t like the fact that the Koreans make generally better skin care for less than his brand, ha ha.

This whole year has been terrible for me in a lot of ways, and I probably will have to skip the sale this time. Previous years I'd hold out and wait for the one thing I wanted to get during the sale, but this year I don't need anything, and shouldn't spend the money if I don't. I'm pretty stocked on skincare and makeup at the moment.

So funny, I'm the same way always but travel size perfumes but NOT with the Billie Eilish!! Needed the full size, although I bought mine from Walmart and I think it might be a different formulation/ concentration maybe 🤔 so maybe I need to pick up a backup or extra bottle in the sale.
Love ALL Klorane dry shampoo, but agree their non aerosol is so good! I'm with you definitely use WAY LESS now that I've predominantly switched.

Yes!! Yes this is true.
However, I’d say not to worry for “reasonable” returns. Obviously that’s hard to really put into words, but I can say this:
I know for a fact that there are “influencers” who buy entire collections, swatch them, and return every bit of it. Those people ARE getting banned from returns. To which I say good.
In contrast, returning a few products that didn’t work out? Probably just fine.

Hi Alice! I’m super new to the Ulta sales and realized Sephora also put all of their available items from this set on 50% sale today, too. Is that normal? Do these sales come from the brands (Estee Lauder, ABH, Tula, etc.), or does Sephora just do this to try to undercut Ulta? I’ve just never noticed this “One Day 50% Sale” on the Sephora app before, but maybe that’s just me! Thanks for your insights so I can shop this sale well 🥰

Yup they usually do it! And sometimes it’s the smarter approach too, as you might be able to scoop up a Sephora GWP with a $30+ purchase, while Ulta tends to require $50+ (and only on select days)

Non related but it was on 5x points lol so I picked it up … I just found the absolute perfect foundation… its Lancome Teint Idole stick foundation it just melts into my skin has the perfect coverage looks just like my skin is the exact perfect shade I cannot believe my eyes its great with my skincare and sunscreen it looks just like my skin but way better!!!! YES, it lasts so much longer! I’ve been surprised to hear that it doesn’t last as long on some folks, because it wears very well on me
I asked my sweetie to explain the differences (she’s a lot better with scents!), here’s the explanation:
Fresh cream cashmere is a warm, buttery vanilla that has a more mellow feel. Eilish is a sweeter and more complex vanilla with stronger projection.

OK I need to know what the controversy is with Merit, I’m a big fan of several of their products. I love their cream blush, their bronzer and their foundation stick, and their bi-phase serum. I’ve been a fan of the brand, but I’ve only bought directly from them once. usually, I buy their stuff through Sephora.
It’s customer service complaints. In fairness, I’ve never had an issue (actually had pretty quick shipping for this past BFCM!), but it seems a lot of people have had issues. Might be best to buy from Sephora for the time being; alternatively, now that the attention is on them, maybe they’ll step up their CS. I’m hoping for that!!

I'm actually planning on using points in this sale, I've definitely been a dragon with them. But I'm planning the point purchase for the about face sale day, and I'm going to add some Half magic beauty to the cart to get the totals to where I want. However I do feel bad for anyone that wanted to stock up on brushes with points in this sale, Ulta made that impossible. Well, impossible for strategic point use. 😮💨

Idk why but I could never get into ulta. I remember j in had all these “points” that translated to $ that expired and I was so peeved bc ok they could’ve told me that #1 i have points #2 they’re going to expire #3 I can use them as cash basically. It was maybe $75 and the whole thing confused and pissed me off so much and the ladies weren’t helpful or nice even so I vowed to never go back. And I didn’t. Once in a while I’ll get gift cards for it and just give them away too. I’ve always liked Sephora much much more anyways. Sorry but, personally, they don’t even compare to Sephora.

I’m after some ginseng advice please :). I’m in Australia so some of my options are limited and some things greatly more expensive than the US. Im in my 40’s and want to upgrade from my beauty of joseon ginseng water as my hydrating am step. The Chogongjin Sosaeong toner (150ml) I can get for $40 AU and the Donginbi 1899 single essence EX (120ml) is $110 AU - should I bite the bullet for the Donginbi- it would be my most expensive step but I know 120ml will last me a long time but it just feels like such a huge jump and not sure if I’ll get 3x the benefit.
I personally do like the donginbi more BUT: have you looked into getting some minis? A lot of the higher end brands do have minis available, which might help you make a more informed decision with regards to your own skin

I can only get minis in sets from Yesstyle unfortunately and they will be over $200.
I think I’ll probably end up waiting until I’m happy I’ve adjusted to my new fermented serum then just get the Donginbi, I hate waste and have enough of the BOJ to last until then.

I don't like this new sale format. I liked being able to see the whole sale at once and deciding when to buy favorite products. Now they're showing only one week at a time with each day having too many items. Oh well, I'll still buy stuff but I'll try not to go overboard.

I’ve bought from them direct without issues, but it sounds like that hasn’t been the case for everyone. Will probably stick to buying that brand through Sephora!

I had a great customer service experience from merit. The foundation stick I purchased fell apart immediately they refunded me right away. I didn’t even need to send the product back. There are a bunch of sheep on that video just saying they’re not going to purchase from merit anymore because of how they treated Wayne.

Clinique’s Take Off the Day cleansing balm lasts me 6 months. This saves me so much money and it gets the job done. Also, I don’t have to put it with my liquids when I travel.
