      Beauty is completely subjective and cultural. Traveling really brought that home for me as in some countries I dont get any attention regarding my appearance yet in other countries for some reason I get hit on a lot. Like higher than what anyone would consider normal. It is so strange. I saw this social experiment where a women sent her picture to graphic designers all over the world for retouching and the images she got back where so different given each cultures’ beauty standards. It was very fascinating.

    If only I had your jawline! Thank you for this. The ZiiP is my favorite microcurrent device although sometimes I still use my NuFACE mainly because
    I can watch some thing while I’m using it. The ZiiP does have a default program, it’s a four minute lift program that does not require the app. I’m a big fan of my MITO, pro LED panel, since I can’t use a mask. The mask is too close to my face and I get hives.

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  4 месяца назад +1

      Ah yes you’re right, it does have a default! I wish the Halo worked the same way the Gx did though in that you could store your most recent treatment (that’s the one change they made with Halo that I don’t love, although the new price/louder buzzes are better!)

    I have a red light therapy panel coming and I’m excited about the potential benefits. I also have the Medicube EMS and ussera deep shot. Love the deep shot. I have a fairly high pain tolerance but I can’t handle the ems. It’s not even so painful, but I hate the muscle twitching feeling. So that’s sitting in a drawer. 😬

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  4 месяца назад +2

      I know what you mean!! It’s kind of funny that it doesn’t “hurt” but it’s SO jarring!
      If you do want to pull it out of the drawer, my tip is: only use it on your jawline on a low setting (slim, 1 seems to be the most gentle) and load up on gel. Eventually it does stop being so strange, but if you caught in the clip, I still giggle at the twitches to this day 🤭

    I really have to try LED... Will it help with melasma and rosacea?
    Your knowledge and willingness to share is greatly appreciated!!! Many blessings!!!💖💖💖

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  4 месяца назад

      Melasma is a little more tricky, in part because its cause seems to be poorly understood. There are some studies looking at LED treatment, and so far, it seems that red light is likely to be a good option, but you might want to avoid blue light completely. It’s extra important to not overdo the red light therapy though (“more isn’t more” strikes again lol)
      For rosacea, it does seem more promising with a bit more research (due to the wound healing/anti-inflammatory attributes which directly benefit those with rosacea!)
      Ultimately, as I am not a dermatologist nor do I have those conditions, I always like to suggest talking to your doc/derm about it first!

    I love devices!! One upside to them being more expensive is that I really do the most when looking into them before I finally purchase Which actually really helps me commit to using them!!
    Rn my number one most important is also red light. I use a mask for 10 minutes every other day and occasionally a panel (I actually tried to do it more frequently than that, and it made my skin feel dry. Hence, following directions really is ideal lol.)
    My number 2 is the Nira laser Which I finally purchased last black Friday. Any time something has heat involved I become nervous about #1 melasma and 2 fat loss. I think for me the pro version was just less intimidating because it doesn’t get as hot.
    I’m almost through my first 90 days and I do see myself sticking with it.
    After that, I think my microstamping is my next most important, but I only do that very occasionally. That was something I was hoping to replace someday with an electroporation device!
    I do really want to get back into microcurrent. I think because I have a round face I’m never gonna see sculpting, I just need to believe that it’s helping ATP. it’s hard to stay motivated Lol but I’ve spent the money so I might as well use them. 😅
    Any time I add more than two devices though I do start to slack so It really helps having some real world experience in what I will and won’t keep up with!

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  4 месяца назад +1

      Mmhmm yep it’s so important to figure out not only what fits our needs, but also what we will realistically use! I am with you though on being pretty good about using what I have, although I’ve definitely replaced quite a few with better fits, ie the foreos and the first gen Nuface.
      With microcurrent, i like the ZIIP/founders favorite because it’s Freeform - so while it’s 10 minutes, I can spend that 10 minutes watching RUclips haha! IIRC, most of the microcurrent devices have some kind of Freeform option too. I don’t think i would stick with it if I had to stare at an app for 10 whole minutes 🤣

  • @IndigooceanOrg

    I'm about 30 years older than you but we've both settled on pretty much the same devices. I use a red light panel though, even though I have a face mask and a neck mask from Omnilux. I just like it better, and got back into daily red light by not having to recharge the little power blocks. I prefer to just plug in, sit there while my computer boots up, then keep it moving.
    I don't use the EMS device but other than that we're using the same facial devices. I definitely find that the Ussera Deep Shot tightens my face quite noticeably the following day.
    I'm thinking about getting the new Booster-H (the pro version) so I won't have to keep using both the Booster and the ziip, having just once device. Would also perhaps get me to start doing the airshot routine again, because that's one device I have that gets absolutely no usage.

    I've seen a few threads talking about broken capillaries with microcurrent, but nothing of the sort for EMS. Strange as you'd think that the stronger current would potentially more irritating? This is what's scaring me away from microcurrent as well!

      Ah you know what, you bring up something very important here (that I tend to forget because I’m overall pretty gentle on my skin)
      I’d ask how hard those folks are pushing the device into their skin. These devices are meant to glide gently across the skin, but considering I’ve seen some people scrub their faces HARD, I do think it’s worth mentioning: there’s no need to do this with devices (or skincare!)

    I don't know if this is total placebo effect but I didn't see a lot of difference from my omnilux mask when I first started using it, and then I saw a video interview with The Honest Channel suggesting reducing the time under the mask to 6 minutes and suddenly I started seeing results 😳🤷‍♂ I suppose there is some kind of antioxidant inverse reaction after a certain amount of time? You probably know better than me. Either way I'm a happy camper now, I don't think I need to buy any more devices!

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  4 месяца назад +2

      Yep, tbh we don’t really have evidence that it has a prooxidant effect (although that’s absolutely the theory in using something like green tea prior to treatment). That said, it would make sense for LED to have a dose-response curve beyond which there isn’t more benefit

    I’m always afraid of these devices and the risk to skin cancer. I have not researched this in journals. Do we know anything about these for people that have had skin cancer? Do we know how the LED eye mask impacts the eyes?

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  4 месяца назад +2

      This is a good point that you bring up and a limitation in the way studies are conducted. For example, take the studies looking at skin aging: the exclusion would indeed include skin cancer (or other conditions) to focus in on only aging. Meaning we don’t want confounding variables. The problem is, when we exclude people from this research, it leaves a gap in terms of how it affects those same people.
      Bottom line: I think it would be wise to ask your doctor first in this case.
      As for the eyes, it’s a bit of a mixed bag at the moment. There is research into using red LED to benefit the eyes (!) but it’s not really in the context of LED masks. There is also concern over blue light negatively impacting the eyes. I would personally recommend using goggles with blue light, with the option to use it for red. Hope that helps!

    I don't think using an EMS device in moderation would deplete cellular ATP any more than using facial muscles to emote. Really, I'm using up the same amount of ATP when I laugh really long and I laugh way more often than I use facial devices.

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  4 месяца назад

      Yup, you got it.
      I’ve noticed studies are sometimes taken out of context. It’s pretty important to take into consideration exactly what the study did and HOW it did it!

    For EMS what i heard was that ATP is temporarily reduced just like excersice temporarily reduces amount of ATP (to me that would mame sense if ATP is like excersice for the face).
    What are your thoughts on this?
    Disclaimer: just what i heard, i dunno.

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  4 месяца назад +1

      Yep, that’s it! We use ATP in moving our muscles, so it indeed makes sense!

      @@AliceintheRabbitHole guess it then depends on when the study meadured ATP if it is after the ATP should have recovered it sound iffy but if it was measured before ATP would normally have had time to recover i would pretty much chuck it up to EMS works like excersice in terms of ATP

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole

      Precisely. Using ATP isn’t a negative thing, and I do feel the study was misinterpreted in that sense

    Ziip has a really poor quality materials. I had 2 of them both had issues. Regarding the halo - people started to complain that the probes are falling off. So think twice. They have amazing customer service but warranty is limited - and if you are ok with repurchasing it after 1 or 2 years then that's ok. I would consider buying foreo bear or medicube age r pro honestly

    Does an led mask last forever or the lights will start losing their intensity after a few years?

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  4 месяца назад +1

      Ooh great question!
      The expected lifetime for LED is around 20,000 hours. That said, lithium batteries, as used in masks, have a shorter lifespan. So what you might notice (and I noticed this with my DDG mask in particular) is that you will need to charge the mask more often at a certain point.
