I’m so sorry. I’ve been through that also. I had no idea it was going to be as terrible as it was. I ended up in the ER. So happy you are feeling better.
Just a note, specially korean lip tint in a velvet form are formulated to not stain. A lot of "stains" are tints, what's means its applies color in a natural way, without been too heavy. I really hope this can allow you why didnt you a like a lot of korean "stains"❤
Ohhh totally makes sense on why they call them tints! When I was looking up stains, the tints in this video all populated because they also claim to stain / last all day though 😊
@AbbeyYung seeing your video I sugest you try the wakemake dewy gel glow tint and lilybyred bloody liar coating tint. For me are superior yo peripera ink mood glowy tint. They do not leave a stain, but are a super glowy gelified tints, same or more glowy than this and lot off less stickier and more pigmented. Hope you give it a try
I feel like for people looking for a stain, non-patchy longwear should be the first or second most important characteristic along with comfort... I'm surprised anyone would specifically look for a stain and not care about staying power? *I understand not caring about staying power, but then why look for a "stain" in the first place.
They all have longer staying power than a regular lipstick or gloss. But once I got into weeks of filming this footage & realized that most of them don't last all day long, I started caring less about that! I have no issue reapplying after a few hours. I personally love stains because they look more natural than full pigment lipsticks and last longer than lipsticks or glosses alone
Some of the Korean brands products you used are not actually made as lip “stain” products. Also most of Korean lip products that has shiny/gloss finish, you are NOT supposed to rub your lips against each other or with your finger after applying for the best result(shine).
All of these populated when searching for stains because they make claims to last all day or stain. But totally get that the effect is different with some traditional stains vs tints! And I was rubbing them to see what the color looked like after being blotted xx
I think that asian “tints” don’t translate to what American “tints” are which is why you didn’t like most of them. Asian tints are more of matte liquid lipstick and not very light or sheer. Also, none of the tints lasted bc you threw on lip balm on them. Lol we all know you love a good shiny lip gloss which is how I got the feeling this experiment wasn’t going to go well for u. 😂 Thanks for trying. ❤
It's nice to see Westerners trying Asian products... But the big issue in this video is applying them all the same way regardless of the differences in finishes and then blotting and applying gloss over the top. Saying they don't work, when they haven't been used as recommended by the company, is not the best test of their quality 🥲
I feel like if you need to follow a secret unintuitive formula from the company for using a basic product like a lip oil or stain, it’s not a great product no matter how you look at it. And if it’s a stain that makes your lips dry and uncomfortable, regardless of intended finish, of course you’d have to wear a gloss to tolerate it. I find Asian lip products are always drying or at least lack any moisturizing quality… and if you can’t blot without destroying the result, how are you supposed to actually wear the product in daily life as your lips are always moving and talking?
O man, wish this video was made earlier! Bought several shades in all the bottom 3 ranked lip stains a year ago, got duped by all the good reviews online. Your assessments are all on point, and are the reasons I don't use them regularly. Thank you! Love this series!

You have no idea how long I've been researching and trying to figure out what lip stains to get. They always lean VERY pink for me, and I hate it for me. I want more neutral, brown/tan colors or a rich, deep blood/berry. But often those advertised as such still lean pinky. This video is seriously a godsend!

I definitely suggest trying the Judydoll Watery Lip Gloss. It's one of my favorite tints. I am really getting into Asian skincare and makeup, and I just discovered Teso Life which is so much fun to browse.

I have to ask.... I bought two Elf Glossy Lip Stains and both were super dry and felt almost empty from the moment I purchased it. Package was sealed so I know it wasn't opened at the store or anything. Should I repurchase? Mine never felt very wet and the payoff was meh... must be horrible luck to have that happen to two shades purchased at two separate occasions months apart... right?
Holika holika has my fave stain, the balm stainiacs can be applied without a mirror, they are so easy & light, & mansly is a very low budget but fantastic brand for me so far - loving lip mud stains!
I love your content, Abbey! So thorough, so well presented, so refreshing. Don’t stop. I’m a mental health provider and I need these quality of fun and thought provocation in between clients to decompress sometimes.
As someone who is extremely sensitive to gross synthetic smells and tastes in makeup, THANK YOU for mentioning that! It's the biggest dealbreaker for me. Gained a sub immediately 💕
I was really hoping you'd include some of the marker-type stains, those were my go-to back when they first came out and I'd love to get some again but not sure who is doing them well
I have a question for better understanding, when you say you don't need a balm or you need one, where do you apply it? underneath the tint or over top? I use a watery tint from essence a lot and I figured out it works best on dry, not oily lips (maybe some of the patchiness things came from it) I also like to layer it, let it dry in between layers, so I have lots control over the pigment.. I also love that one teddy tint which has a velvet finish but doesn't seem to stain, I'm wondering if the peripera is like that.. I might order some anyway because I found some 50% off 😅😊 in general, sooo many thanks for this video, it was very helpful!!
Yeeeesssss! This was the video I was waiting for! I bought milani when you mentioned it because several years ago I bought the benefit lip stain and loved the effect, but hated how dry it made my lips. But lip stain obsession started there. Milani was sooo much better and I expanded from there to Elf and Rare beauty (which I LOVE). Was so excited for more good options but it seems like I got the exact product I wanted out of what I had. Now to expand my shades! Thank you for this video!!
Abbey I think you should try out the non-sticky dazzle tint lip stains from unleashia !! All of the shades are so pretty and for me the are also long wear. My favorite shades are nr.2 Sunbeam and nr.3 Glow Day. If you are doing another lip tint showdown I would LOVE to see them in it. Love your work and all the effort you put into your videos, you are such a big Inspiration 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
Thank you! I know you put a lot of work into this. It’s one I really looked forward to watching & requested. I know I will be watching this more than once. They all seemed to look pretty on you.
Thank you for this thorough video! The amount of lip stains out there is so overwhelming which gives me purchase paralysis! I'm so excited to buy one now once I decide on the colour!
Thank you so much for this video!!!! I am always on the hunt for new lip stains. My favourite so far is the Fenty Beauty one, I have two shades and they really last all day. Now I want to try the Rare beauty one, it looks awesome on you!❤
Great list and I agree with you that elf should be at the top of the pile. I love to use the dark sienna for a liner and then any of the other colors in the middle. Lasts all day for me and I get compliments all the time great job, Abbey!
I always use a lip brush, not the packaging applicator/foot, for the most precise application. That way the skin around my lips does not get stained and I don't have to clean up. I also use waste less product, and I let the first layer dry down and apply a second layer.
1, Loved this Video 🥰 2. I need a Ketoconazole Shampoo.. is Nizoral drying? Is it the only option? How do we use it? 1st Shampoo? 2nd Shampoo? I have Demodex Mites & the Yeast overgrowth.. not sure if I need Salicylic Acid, Ketoconazole, or Tea Tree.. can you overview treatments?
I LOVE your videos and how incredibly helpful they are 😍 I want to mention though, I don’t think you use the water tints the way they are supposed to. Referring to the etude/benetint problem. You apply it like a balm, but it’s more like - place drops in the middle of the lip and rub and smack your lips against each other - it will add a translucent layer. It’s not to be applied along the outer lip lines. Same for using it on cheeks. I think that is the ultimate purpose of them, it literally takes two seconds this way to add blush and lip color. You slap it on and rub and done.
have you tried the covergirl outlast lip marker stains? I heard Kelly Gooch talk about them in a recent drugstore makeup video and how she wears them in tandem with the milani color fetish lip stain.
These are the kind of videos that I adore and love and can’t wait for. That being said, I think most people gravitate towards lip stains for the longevity, but after watching this, it feels like they’re not as long lasting as I would think. So weird but I’ll be grabbing some rare beauty ones for long lasting results.
Did you consider doing a video of organic fruit pigmented lip stains? I am very interested in that category. I especially want to find one without any allergens like aloe or lanolin.
This was such a joy to watch because I have the exact same tendency as you to apply lip gloss over everything because of how dry my lips are and moreover I just love the comfort of some gloss on my lips. I have just ordered my peripera water bare tint, glowy tint and glasting gloss and can't wait to try them out! 🧚♂️
Ive tried most of the kbeauty ones and i agree with your top 2 however i rate the peripera water bare tint as no. 1 bc its a lot lighter and less sticky than the ink mood glowy tints.. great vid!
THANK YOU!! I feel like I’ve flooded your IG comments asking for this because I have a strong passion for lip stains and I cannot thank you enough for doing this amazing and thorough review. Question for you - long lasting is a priority of mine so would you say the Elf brand is the top for good quality, feel and wear? Thanks again so much!
Great job girl! You went through a lot to give us the lowdown on what’s really good and what isn’t! Everything you see on tic toc is mostly bs aimed at teens to buy from Sephora and buy pricey products they don’t need. Kids bankrupting their parents.
Oh my goodness, I have been WAITING for this video! Ever since you first mentioned it was upcoming. I have wanted a good lip stain, and this will help massively, so, thank you!
Abbey I highly recommend you try Amuse jel-fit tint!! I have the shade Healthy Salmon, when I first apply it, it’s super vibrant but lasts a long while and the tint is incredible. It definitely lasts through eating for me. I don’t think you would like the color I got but it sounds like you would like the formula. Oh and I’m interested in the beauty brand Hera I’ve heard good things but it’s too pricey for me to buy and try on a whim, but I value your input!
Have you tried any of the lip stains that you peel off? Like the Sachue lip liner Stay-N-Peel off tattoo lip stain. I'd like to know your opinion on something like that. Thanks!
I've been using the Popsicle Lip Stain from The CREME Shop. It's a little drying but last a very long time. Also, Dollar Tree has a color changing balm stick by b-Pure that stains a pinkish tone, which is extremely long lasting. It's very hydrating and glossy.
Is there a certain topper or gloss you recommend to go on top of any of these? Do I need to look for certain ingredients to be in the topper that don't break down or fade out the pigment in the stain quicker? Hope that makes sense.
OMG I have the peripera ink mood glowy tint in 03 - and it is gorgeous! Another one I find myself reaching for a lot is Maybeline’s Superstay Vinyl Ink - it’s more long wearing, while still glossy and nourishing.
You sure went to a lot of trouble for us, Abbey! Thank you! I can't believe how tired or bruised your lips must be after this. I enjoy your showdowns and get suggestions from each of them.
Something to keep in mind is that lighter nude shades will never have the same staining effect as deeper hues! As an eternally dry lips sufferer, I prefer Lanolip’s waxy tinted 101 balm as it grips on and sheers into a lovely peach. Can get 1/2 day wear time, even through lighter meals as the wax repels water :)
You should try the Romand Glasting Water Tint. It looks like a gloss but the staying power is way better. The color does a decent job surviving eating and drinking and if you top it off with a balm or gloss afterwards it brings back a bit of that shine. I also find the shades to be pretty wearable.
My favorite are the covergirl outlast lipstain markers. Really look natural, last a couple of hours (easy reapply), no transfer because it’s literally a marker, great with layering a gloss or for outlining your lips. I was so glad when they brought them back because I got hooked on the ink-style stains while I lived in Korea. I’m not a fan of the gels or creams for stains. When I want a stain, I just want a stain! If you ever went through a round of the non-gel/gloss kind, I’d love that. Appreciate all you do nonetheless. This is super helpful because I was so curious seeing these in stores, but didn’t know what the textures were!
Abby i so love your personality and great comparison videos. Thank you for all the work on this one. I had given up on lip stains and this one has me interested again
Oh thank you for doing this🩵as someone who struggles with full coverage lipstick and needs sheer lip products ,we needed this ..... and peripera serves so well with their water bare tint and ink mood glowy tint formula( its my top lip products too, coming from someone who has dry lips and is picky about lip products) Cant wait to try out the elf lip stain as it ranked high for you . Thank you for this amazing video
OMG! I’m looking for the perfect lip stain now, so I thought it would be very helpful if you would do a video about lip stains. tbh I didn’t expect it because you like to wear lip glosses and oils, but here it is! Thank you very much for this! You are amazing ❤️🔥
Thank you for explaining your preference while showcasing the different types of lip stains out there. Given that I have super dry lips ( but oily face? 🫠), most of these are super patchy on me immediately. I’ll give Rare beauty a try!
This is such a great video. I have tried only a few stains, rare beauty and milani, and this video was super helpful. There is another tint from Romand, called glasting water tint, which has a kind of satin finish and is often compared with the rare beauty one. If you can try that and give your insights in a future video, that would be awesome!
Video idea/ request! A cool toned nude lip video 😭 I just cannot for the life of me find a cool toned nude lipstick on the UK high street (think mid tone nude with a lilacy undertone). Everything has warmer pinky or orange undertones and they just don’t look great on me 😭
What I love about this is that she very clearly explains that lower ranked doesn’t mean it’s an awful product, and she reiterates this all throughout the video. For example, the Peripera In Airy Velvet is very low on her list because it doesn’t check her boxes and thats okay! I like this product because it’s soft, smells nice, looks phenomenal as a blush, and is affordable! But because Abbey has a different criteria than I do, some opinions ultimately won’t align. And that’s alright! Because what matters is having people in the community who are willing to share opinions, provide reviews, and be respectful of the fact that what’s for you may not be for me and vice versa! I love lippies and love discovering them, so I truly enjoyed this video!
This video was fantastic, I bought 3 different ones & I'm totally happy with them. Couldn't find Clio on Ulta or Sephora, would like to try that brand. Also, you looked great with the Benefit one on!😊

I love your content, Abbey! So thorough, so well presented, so refreshing. Don’t stop. I’m a mental health provider and I need these quality of fun and thought provocation in between clients to decompress sometimes.
You covered all the products that I was gonna spend money to try. Thank you so much! This is very helpful.
As someone who is extremely sensitive to gross synthetic smells and tastes in makeup, THANK YOU for mentioning that! It's the biggest dealbreaker for me. Gained a sub immediately 💕
I was really hoping you'd include some of the marker-type stains, those were my go-to back when they first came out and I'd love to get some again but not sure who is doing them well
You have to try the Clarins water lip stain! It's my favorite
All that work! We appreciate it so much! I'm definitely going to try the Elf and the Milani.
Yay! Hope you love ❤
Whenever I add a gloss to a stain, it immediately starts to break up the stain. Do you have any tips?
Warm pinks look so good on you 😊😊😊 and the slow decent to madness as you counted down is hilarious, thanks for all the work that you do lol
Omgosh I cannot imagine the work it takes to make a video like this? Thank you so much.
❤❤❤
I’m also in the shade expansion phase now 😂
Abbey I think you should try out the non-sticky dazzle tint lip stains from unleashia !!
What lipstick are you wearing in the video (while not testing)? So beautiful!
Thank you!
I know you put a lot of work into this. It’s one I really looked forward to watching & requested.
I know I will be watching this more than once.
They all seemed to look pretty on you.
Thank you so much! ❤
Now I want to try the Rare beauty one, it looks awesome on you!❤
Thank you for such a great review video. These huge hauls of products always makes me wonder what you do with those ‘never use again’ products?
Great list and I agree with you that elf should be at the top of the pile. I love to use the dark sienna for a liner and then any of the other colors in the middle. Lasts all day for me and I get compliments all the time great job, Abbey!
I always use a lip brush, not the packaging applicator/foot, for the most precise application. That way the skin around my lips does not get stained and I don't have to clean up. I also use waste less product, and I let the first layer dry down and apply a second layer.
1, Loved this Video 🥰
This was SO helpful!!! I really struggle with dry lips and I’m wondering which ones of your favorites you find least drying by the end of the day?
I know you said you're not a high-pigment matte girl but I think you look beautiful in them!
I LOVE your videos and how incredibly helpful they are 😍
I want to mention though, I don’t think you use the water tints the way they are supposed to.
Such a great video! I always appreciate your showdowns, because it helps me determine what is right for me without having to buy a bunch myself ☺️
Yay so glad! ❤
love your makeup in this video! it fits all the tint shades 🥰
These are the kind of videos that I adore and love and can’t wait for. That being said, I think most people gravitate towards lip stains for the longevity, but after watching this, it feels like they’re not as long lasting as I would think. So weird but I’ll be grabbing some rare beauty ones for long lasting results.
I felt the same way! Seeing my wear footage made me realize most don’t last all day… but they definitely last longer than lipstick!
You are amazing and this is so helpful. Love that you didn't realize until near the end you had the numbers wrong. We can all relate to that.
Did you consider doing a video of organic fruit pigmented lip stains? I am very interested in that category. I especially want to find one without any allergens like aloe or lanolin.
Which one do you think is the longest wearing?
This was such a joy to watch because I have the exact same tendency as you to apply lip gloss over everything because of how dry my lips are and moreover I just love the comfort of some gloss on my lips. I have just ordered my peripera water bare tint, glowy tint and glasting gloss and can't wait to try them out! 🧚♂️
Thanks for this huge review.
If you like super glossy tints i recommend to try AMUSE Dew Tint
Ive tried most of the kbeauty ones and i agree with your top 2 however i rate the peripera water bare tint as no. 1 bc its a lot lighter and less sticky than the ink mood glowy tints.. great vid!
You do such meticulous reviews and showdowns. THANK YOU!!!
I am so glad you think so!!! Trying my best out here 😂❤
I love the format of this video! So much helpful information!
What a fantastic show-down! I am surprised I haven't seen the Dior Lip Tint in here!
You are a super hero for creating such a comprehensive review! Thank you ❤️ ready to go get me some!
Love the review. Although my opinions on some of the products are different, you definitely get the descriptions on point.
High pigment matte stains are my thing! Thanks for the review 🫶🏽
So in terms of lastingness only, which one of these would you recommend?
Another great video!! Glad to hear you're feeling better and that you were able to put your health first and take a break off, happy you're back 😊
❤❤
The amount of hard work you put into your videos is clearly shown, kudos to you Abbey.
My favorite beauty content creator!!!
awww thank you so much! ❤
I LOVE this video! You’ve helped me SO much with lip stains! 💋
I agree! I was looking for these in the video
@@sarahyoung6759 have you seen the Stila ones? Way overpriced, but if they go on sale…
Check out the neutrogena lip hydro boost. So good and it lasts and keeps lips soft for a long time.
Abby i so love your personality and great comparison videos. Thank you for all the work on this one. I had given up on lip stains and this one has me interested again
GIRL you are doing the work!! Thank you for such an in depth and big review 💕💕
Oh thank you for doing this🩵as someone who struggles with full coverage lipstick and needs sheer lip products ,we needed this ..... and peripera serves so well with their water bare tint and ink mood glowy tint formula( its my top lip products too, coming from someone who has dry lips and is picky about lip products)
Cant wait to try out the elf lip stain as it ranked high for you .
Lip stain with gloss = my obsession rn 😂 thank you so much for watching! ❤
Loved this Abbey! Which would you consider the longest lasting of them all please?🩷
Everything has warmer pinky or orange undertones and they just don’t look great on me 😭
Thank you for all this hard work ! Can’t wait to see the best one ❤
This video makes me so happy! Thank you for taking the time to create this ❤
This video was fantastic, I bought 3 different ones & I'm totally happy with them. Couldn't find Clio on Ulta or Sephora, would like to try that brand. Also, you looked great with the Benefit one on!😊
Clio is an asian brand so I would try yesstyle or maybe oliveyoung. My local Asian stores carry some clio products sometimes so maybe check those out
