It runs so well in 120 hz mode on my LG C1 too. I don't know what happened with the grass but at a guess it is just because they used PS4 Pro for some reason as the base. "brief and rare" frame-rate drops. Really that's all that needs to be said on that subject. It means the frame-rate is steady and not even remotely an issue.
This is true. They overdone it in Requiem - you can't tweak the intensity, even on low it's too heavy even for me, and I'm a notorious motion blur enjoyer 😄 In Innocence it's very good looking, tasty.
@@johnmerced32 its personal. On 30 FPS games I feel it’s a must to not make the camera movement feel stuttering. On 60 FPS I usually disable it (if I can). Test it On and Off in some other game.

The One X comes out on top in some cases from the looks of it: At 4:57 there is far more grass rendered on the One X vs the Series X And at 3:08 the image on the One X seems a bit clearer than the Series X (this could be because of motion blur though as the image looks softer) I'm watching this at 1440p 60 for anyone wondering.

@@naderzein2435 It depends on your set up, if you have a TV with HDMI 2.1 and freesync that means you have 4K 120fps enabled by default and it's just a matter of toggling it within the game settings. Am I the only person who can't tell the difference between 60 and 120? At first I thought it wasn't working on my TV, but I've tried it across Dirt 5, COD CW and now Doom Eternal's PS5 update and I honestly can't tell the difference.
I have that TV and LOVE VRR. I'm still shocked it's not working on the ps5 (along with any official storage upgrade) almost a year after release. What's the deal Sony? Just fyi, people want the things you promise and put on the box
They are keeping it quiet but word on the street is the issue is the chip vendor and not lack of Sony wanting the feature. LG And Samsung make their own chips so it's far easier to implement features but Sony does not. They rely on Media Tech i believe for the HDMI 2.1 and it has issues currently and may never support VRR until the next hardware change meaning next year's tvs.

@@DEVILTAZ35 How does VRR have anything to do with chips etc? It's a software thing - many TVs already support it, and it works just fine with Xbox. Sony claims that they will roll out a SW update to enable VRR. How does is it related to HW in this case?
120fps has half the motion blur and half the response time of 60fps - after switching to a 120hz VRR display I can hardly stand frame rates below 90-100
As a PC gamer myself, I don’t know how 120 isn’t “necessary” but we can say the about anything I guess, FPS, resolution, SSD, etc. I play my PC on a 144mhz monitor and some games that output 144fps show a major difference, so to say that 60fps is just as good as 120fps is ludacris. Not trying to bash you man, but it’s just how feel as well.
@@aaronburns9538 Where did you see that in this instance because that's not the case at all at a 900p resolution vs 1440p at 60 and above on is big brother. I will say the Series S is a noticable difference for Xbox One or One S owners if they upgraded to that and add on the fact that you have the ability to now stream certain games via the cloud to the Series S you can play games at resolutions and frame rates that exceed is internal hardware capabilities.
I’d have liked to see RT lighting; the SSAO was the fly in the ointment in otherwise photorealistic settings, with distracting shadows disappearing and reappearing as furniture or stair steps move off- and on-screen.
So if I understood correctly, there is no 120fps mode on Xbox from the devs but because of the uncapped framerate Xbox users can use the 120hz from the settings. Which is not great and is very unstable, but with VRR things get fixed a lot.
@@paksitgyud9162 why do you expect console players to be as knowledgeable as the rest of us!? Most are casuals who simply buy the new console and new tv and expect everything to work in harmony. It’s totally understandable if someone didn’t realize they have to change settings if it doesn’t happen automatically
Yes with VRR it can go almost to 100 fps at times. It seems to average somewhere around 80 which is pretty damn good. The LG C1 and G1 have VRR range from 20-120 hz too compared to last year's models that were 40-120 . It probably won't affect this game but it may affect games in the future.
No kidding. It would make no sense to add a 120Hz mode on the PS5, as having the FPS constantly varying between something like 60 and 100 would probably look a lot worse than just fixed 60. VRR instantly make this actually the preferred way to play.
Curious how vrr users feel with this game. Seems like it’s a huge fluctuation from 70-120fps, does it make the game feel better than the locked 60. Don’t have a VRR display yet to try it out.
@@maxminy5634 VRR matches the refresh rate to the fps, so you don't feel the stuttering or lag, it feels much better than locked 60. It's literally unnoticeable.
@@maxminy5634 yes it feels better than 60fps, any fluctuation, no matter how wild is absolutely fine with VRR so long as you are getting over roughly 50fps at the minimum end. Well that's my experience anyway. I wish all games had an unlocked frame rate mode on console.
Honestly an uncapped option is kinda cool.for those with VRR screens (most 120hz tvs), they can get a better frame rate still. Even if the boost is small, it's still a good option. More 60fps games should allow this. Even if the difference may only be like 15-20fps on average, that would still be cool to have as an option on some games.
Uncapped fps can be implemented easily on series x/s bec it use same dev kit as the PC and also its VRR capable. If this is the trend of gaming even the series s will constantly outperform PS5.
@@paksitgyud9162 Plus it would be good for a mid gem refresh. We all know it'll happen again. With how fast hardware moves now, it's inevitable. Just a theoretical example- So let's say for example Witcher 3 gets it update. It's 1800p60 but has the option to uncap the frame rate. But on series X it may only get another 15 more fps on average. So only a slight boost. But them in 4 years maybe we get a refresh. It can now easily push 100+fps

@4:54 there's a bunch of grass missing in the Series X around the rock in the upper portion of the scene. It's like it didn't even load the grass assets. EDIT: ah, I guess it's the draw distance, mentioned a bit later.
I don't mind it being there, at least a per-object system, but I want to be able to completely turn it off completely should I want (and for the most part I absolutely DO want it off).
I was kinda thinking that it's time to upgrade to a fancy 4k display with VRR for the new consoles, but analysis after analysis it feels like a fullHD display would just give me a super clean supersampled image. And that's what I like. Don't care much for crazy sharpness, all I want is aliasing and shimmer completely gone, for the sake of immersion. I guess I'll be a boomer and stick to 1080p for a while.
@@nickmotsarsky4382 true, but I'm pretty sure you could use a 1440p monitor with a built-in scaler though. That way the monitor will accept a 4k signal and carry out the downscaling instead of the console. There are a few posts on Reddit regarding this...
@@TheUderfrykte I would only recommend a 1080p TV for XSS users. Whilst it's true a 1080p TV will give you slightly better anti-aliasing it's going to be pretty blurry in comparison to a 4k tv. Anti-aliasing is dealt with very effectively nowadays with TAA and you don't really need downsampling. 1440p-1800p (which is kinda the average resolution for next gen games) looks better upscaled to 4k than downsampled to 1080p imo. Developers are going to be targeting 4k resolutions on PS5 and XSX so they will put their efforts into techniques to get there. Take this game for example, it is reconstructed up to 4k from 1440p. If you were to put this on a 1080p display it's going to look pretty blurry. 1440-4k and the back down to 1080p is a problem. This is actually a big reason why PC is superior when it comes to resolutions. Also, remember the quality of a TV's panel makes just as much difference as resolution. It's a shame there aren't 1440 TVs or 1440p monitors larger than 32"...
Surprised as hell DF doesn't mention at all that One X has the crisper picture. Just look at the trees, the grass. One X is clearly crisper. I especially noticed it yesterday when I decided to start it on my XSX and I remembered it looking significantly crisper when I played it on One X. I don't care about any motion blur if it makes the pq this much blurrier.
I only experienced this game due to the game pass quest "shoot your sling 5 times" idk why but the presentation caught my eye and the overall feeling of warmth and dread that mixes perfectly.
I wish more developers could make best of the PS5 ssd. If games like Demon's Souls, Miles Morales, Rift Apart, FF7R or whatever can have near instantaneous loading this game should for sure.
I think it’s because it’s a Multiplatform game, iv noticed that any Multiplatform game the ps5 will load like an Xbox, but soon as you play an exclusive those loads screens are completely gone, making 15 seconds seem like an eternity!
It would be a limitation of the current engine most likely. Even though they state it's optimised it still has it's roots very much in last gen and mechanical hard drives.
I started the game a while ago, playing the PS4 version on PS5, however didn't continue, and I'm glad I didn't because I'm excited to play this from the beginning again with all the new upgrades!!
I played the last gen version as well. Couldn't wait for the next gen patch though. The 30fps are quite jarring at times. Have fun, it's a cool game :)
Pls is it a patch for the ps4 version or is it a full digital download of the ps5 version? Do i just download a patch for my ps4 version or do I have to redownload the entire game? Thanks
You should have since the game is so slow that 60fps doesn't really give it any benefit while the lowered LOD and added motion blur are huge downgrades.

Yeah it's annoying it's even more annoying when films do it. Buy a 4k DVD only for it to have massive black borders that takes up 40% of the screen like wtf. If it's not 4k don't put 4k on the box and that goes for games and films.
@@Jackjackalex Because 1440p is the balance to achieve a respectable resolution and frame rate 60fps. Although in this case I feel like they could've went higher since its a last gen title and One X is already 1440p. Now while I like 1440p 60fps over 4k 30, it still doesn't make it right to advertise 1440p as 4k. Sony did it alot for the pro so it wouldn't loom bad against One X but atleast it was upscaled/checkerboard.

@@naderzein2435 It depends on your set up, if you have a TV with HDMI 2.1 and freesync that means you have 4K 120fps enabled by default and it's just a matter of toggling it within the game settings.

Demand it or not, 120mhz is a plus on any gaming platform.
Damn Series S is kinda showing up the X and Ps5.
I have a PC and PS5 60fps is more than enough. I can't be fussed with 120fps I don't feel it is worth it.

What an excellent, in depth analysis, you guys put in so much work. Love your content.
VRR is an absolute game-changer.
No kidding. It would make no sense to add a 120Hz mode on the PS5, as having the FPS constantly varying between something like 60 and 100 would probably look a lot worse than just fixed 60.
VRR instantly make this actually the preferred way to play.

@@brewski535 great thanks! I was just wondering because sometimes these DF videos say vrr can’t help you here, so interesting take from you guys.
For locked 120fps on mid gen Consoles or ps6 too
Uncapped fps can be implemented easily on series x/s bec it use same dev kit as the PC and also its VRR capable. If this is the trend of gaming even the series s will constantly outperform PS5.
@@paksitgyud9162
Plus it would be good for a mid gem refresh. We all know it'll happen again. With how fast hardware moves now, it's inevitable.
Just a theoretical example-
So let's say for example Witcher 3 gets it update. It's 1800p60 but has the option to uncap the frame rate. But on series X it may only get another 15 more fps on average. So only a slight boost.
But them in 4 years maybe we get a refresh. It can now easily push 100+fps
