The Reads were never at Mr.Ratburn's house at all it was someone else's Halloween party. Plus Binky was trying to prank Mr.Ratburn. Mr.Ratburn's haunting house based off of Eager Allen Poe's work is classic gold.
I think part of why some people forgot about this special was because it doesn't have a title card which is different from standard episodes, like "Arthur's Perfect Christmas" has for example. Even I never really watched it until last year. Though I do think it is a fairly non-conventional episode in itself, even if it doesn't have any songs as other specials do.

Fern then tells her about a boy named “Jack Murphy” who only went to Lakewood for a single year, when the school just opened, and also had the locker. The locker had strange sounds and stranger smells. Bad things happened to Jack Murphy before he disappeared. The locker is alleged to be haunted, but she finds out the truth (not spoiling it here.)

An example I can name was when Arthur spent half the episode manipulating DW to try and get her to like spinach with one attempt involving him and Francine feeding Kate spinach and calling her a big girl for eating it while calling DW a baby for not which I'm pretty sure caused her resentment of Kate in the go to your room episode. Not only was he stopping down to her level but he was also bringing their little sister into their conflict
The kids entering the houses of strangers on Halloween tracks. That was basically the plot of the Arthur's Halloween book. The old "the witch in the creepy house is really a lonely old lady that wants to throw a party for the kids" plotline. Which, of course, they stole from Fat Albert, and the Berenstain Bears would steal for a book and a cartoon based on it as well.

Something I don’t get is why any of the Tough Customers had intentions to TP Mr. Ratburn’s house at this point. By this point, they had basically given up on any sort of mischief. Also I personally don’t mind DW in this special. One upping Arthur’s cheap trick with an actually clever prank is something I have to respect.

Even though it’s been a few years since I’ve actually seen Arthur. I remember watching this and actually enjoyed it. I honestly don’t mind the Flash / HD era of Arthur with a few exceptions I.E “So Funny I Forgot To Laugh”

@@mattneffbut after you said about the Read parents siding with DW “as usual” I kind of realize that Arthur does have many flaws plus your whole FU series of Arthur character kind of changed my view on the entire show. Maybe one day I’ll give Arthur an episode ranking rewatch.

I wonder if Grandma thora was just like DW at her age judging from the prank she pulled with Kate at the end. Arthur better pray Kate doesn't let the toxic household have an influence on her or he might end up with another demon spawn sister when he turns 16. But I agree with Matt I think Thora's costume is great with her being the wolf dressed as the grandmother and having baby Kate dress as little red riding hood.

Something I don’t get is why any of the Tough Customers had intentions to TP Mr. Ratburn’s house at this point. By this point, they had basically given up on any sort of mischief.
Also I personally don’t mind DW in this special. One upping Arthur’s cheap trick with an actually clever prank is something I have to respect.
@@DKCfan10 Most episodes are out of order. So it’s plausible this special took place before “The Last Tough Customer” before the Tough Customers themselves decided to give up bullying or causing mischief.
