To me, Muffy and DW were WAY worse. Francine may have been a diva at times, but she had her good values and limits that she knew never to cross.

Arthur once again points out that Francine is not the boss of the show and she needs to cut the crêpe.
Francine is the kid playing in a hockey tournament and goes full Sidney Crosby by tripping your goalie behind the net and then crying to the refs about how you retaliated and are now serving a game misconduct.
I honestly don't know anything about hockey, but I'll take your word for it lol

Theres actually an episode called "locked in the library" where Francine shows the rarest amount of kindess to arthur at the end of the episode, even though she was being an asshole to him over a petty insult that probably wasn't even meant to be one.
@rach3092Arthur was at least trying to be nice and respectful to her in the library before it closed, but she kept acting like a fucking karen the whole time.
And he was right. She was an effin marshmallow! XD

Honestly, D.W. and Francine are the same. Both are the younger siblings of their respective families and they tend to be bratty in some form or another. They often resent their older siblings for one reason or another. And their egos often tend to get the better of them and they have Aesop Amnesia.

Francine is the kind of kid that would literally laugh at you falling on your face after you ride your bike without training wheels. Then, when she does the same thing, she doesn't like it.

@mattneff Well, two of her worst moments for me were not giving airholes to Buster's costume during the play even though he has asthma and for being a bully to Fern during Draw.

An episode you should cover is that one episode where Francine gets a taste of her own medicine when she makes fun of Fern.
Also, as a kid, I was delusional enough to believe that Francine and Arthur were friends. But seeing her as she is now, she didn't have a leg to stand on during So Funny I Forgot to laugh.
Yeah, like considering how much she’s done much worse stuff, I can’t really side with anyone in that episode (besides Sue Ellen). At least Arthur did eventually apologize, which Francine has done so many things worth apologizing for that she didn’t
It's kind of funny looking back at all the episodes of kids shows where they really hyped up Thomas Edison as this amazing inventor, once you get older and find out that he didn't actually invent a lot of the things he took credit for inventing

For an fu muffy episode i suggest the one where muffy is a drama queef about the fact that everyone isnt utterly helpless without her so they stage fake scenarios to placate her sorry ego

Still i can't believe in the episode where D.W. lost her voice, Francine had the hypocritical gall to lecture Arthur about being mean.
It does seem that Francine has something of a crush on Arthur, but this shouldn’t excuse her behavior, especially after the tooth episode where Arthur finally standing up for himself and ignoring Francine’s taunts is met with assault
It seemed to have been on accident that Arthur got hit with a soccer ball but I’m not too fond of Francine’s behavior not being met with more derision or punishment.

How about Francine's Bad Hair Day, Arthur and the True Francine, Draw!, Binky Barnes - Art Expert, Arthur's Lucky Pencil, Francine Frensky - Olympic Rider, Locked in the Library!, Fright Night, The Big Blow-Up, Arthur Goes to Camp, Francine Redecorates
Francine Frensky is just the same as Peppermint Patty from Peanuts. Although they’re a close friend/friendly rival to the main character (Charlie Brown/Arthur Read), they both often tease them or berate them even when it’s not their fault, thus making them feel like bullies. And like you said, even though they deep down have a crush on them, similar to how Helga Pataki and Cindy Vortex are with Arnold Shortman and Jimmy Neutron, bullying is still bullying.
Other examples of tomboyish characters that can act rude and boastful include Cera from The Land Before Time and Rainbow Dash from MLP, but too bad you can’t do an FU Rainbow Dash review cause you’d get in trouble from Hasbro again.

In It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown, Peppermint was upset with Charlie Brown with how the baseball field became a garden and Charlie’s team was beating her’s, even though Linus and Lucy were the ones who planted everything.
In the first airing of It’s Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty blamed Charlie Brown for their football team’s loss even though actually, Lucy couldn’t resist swiping the football from Charlie Brown as usual, so FU Lucy too. Thankfully in later airings, Peppermint Patty’s rant at Charlie Brown was changed to backwards speech.

@@garrettscott6948 Yeah honestly I do agree with you. The Postcards From Buster were okay but not great, so right now, FU DW is where it’s at.
A reminder that Francine wanted to suffocate Buster by blocking the holes on his costume so he couldn't breathe. Canon-wise, Buster later discovers he has asthma, so Francine was going to make an asthma kid have less oxygen to breathe. 😭
Personally, I think Muffy is slightly worse, but yeah, Francine's no picnic either.

Muffy is capable of being humiliated, and the narrative doesn't try to gaslight the audience into thinking she's right.
You could also do an F U prunella. She can be very stuck up around people. I remember, she misplaced a fortuneteller that she was using, and she immediately blamed Muffy, (who did nothing wrong) with no evidence.

The title alone I must thank you for!! I have ALWAYS hated Francine because as an older kid, she should know better than to be an absolute bleep.
Any episode where she got her just desserts was a great episode in my mind. (The barfing episode especially I love because the brat finally learns about the school food chain. Her friend are nice to her, yet she still suspects they are making fun behind her back, but they harass poor George for his recurring bloody nose.)
In the first 2 seasons I honestly felt D.W had more redeeming qualities than Francine.
Any episodes without Francine or Muffy in any Arthur episodes are always a relief.
Or DW, I don’t understand why everyone hates muffy though, the most she does is be annoying but she never outright tried to be mean
When I watched this as a kid, I only hated DW but now that I am grown up and watch this I see that Francine was not better than DW. Think I could not watch this nowadays without being fed up with most characters. It is also interesting to see what their original names are. Back then I watched it in German Dub and they changed some Names 😂

The other big Francine failure episodes for me are the one where she dares Arthur to skip school then gets herself locked out and drags him and Buster into letting her back in to cover for her, and the one where she bullies him for watching the Love Ducks only to reveal she was watching it the whole time at the end.

I just got a physical jolt from remembering when I walked into the girls bathroom at an airport when I was like 10. I think that may have been the cringiest moment of my life.
I saw franchise be nice once when she stood up for someone still needing training pants
The show seems to go with the idea of "she hurts you because she secretly likes you" no that's not how relationships work. Personal I ship Arthur and Molly. Given their interactions in later episodes I can actually see being a couple in highschool
I shipped Arthur with Francine when I was a kid, but as an adult I know better so Molly and Arthur all the way.
I remember an episode where Arthur and Francine get locked in a public library overnight, and Francine is mad at Arthur almost the whole episode because he recently made fun of her for wearing a sweater that made her look like “a marshmallow.” She gets bent out of shape for days over someone calling her a name probably just one time, as opposed to the weeks that she spent endlessly taunting Arthur on two separate occasions. He even calls her out on this towards the end of the episode, but she completely sidesteps it by pointing out and flattering him over something more considerate that he just did for her in that scene. Talk about a hypocritical narcissist.

Interestingly enough, this Arthur episode is one of the RARE times Princess Peach was referred to as such outside Japan. The other times being Yoshi’s Safari and Super Mario 64. Before, she was referred to as “Princess Toadstool” in English.
