Dw is such a narcissistic sociopath that it's REALLY concerning she grows up to be a police officer. What's weird is there are the Tibble Twins, who are depicted as bad children but they are showen to be able to realize when someone is good. Sure they're a bit sneaky, but they've got a soft elderly lady taking care of them with no father. Dw has a mother, father, and an elder brother but STILL acts like a sociopathic, manipulative, arrogant, spoiled, liar. It's bizzare. I often wonder how the writers didn't realize how crazy she came off or if they did it on purpose. Lol

His imagination is typically filled with him being praised for the accomplishment he thinks he deserves, but he at least thinks about how others feel before it becomes an issue. He isn't perfect and sometimes he goes to far, but he always finds a way to take a step back, and apologize or realize his error. Dw on the other hand rarely if not ever acknowledges what she's doing worng. Everytime someone shows disapproval of her actions? She always asks "why?" Or "what did I do?" Or tries to justify her actions just based on her own feelings, even when she's explained why she shouldn't be doing something. I will admit that thier parents aren't great but the dynamic between arthur and dw are dramatically different. I'd argue this is a clearly scenario of nature vs. Nurture. No matter what thier parents do, Dw has a natural radical in her mind so she'll likely act out even if she was disciplined.

People can't control what they like, but they are responsible for how they behave, always. If DW were actually polite and respectful concerning food, she could be as picky as she wanted and it wouldn't matter.

Even as a kid, my little sister couldn't stand DW. DW is a perfect example of how not to do a sibling character, yes you can have the fights, the disagreements and the mainpulation, but at the same time you need to have the positive traits such as willing to put up with what your siblings like, willing to give up your time to be with them and willing to learn about what they are into in order to get an understanding of why they like said thing. I would absolutely hate going to a puppet show! I am fully blind and once I went to a zoo. It was absolutely so much fun walking around touching fences and glass enclosures while hearing people read to you about what animals look like. The "Sibling rivalry" Dynimic in fiction is so annoying. There are so many other dynamics that siblings can have, and yet on tv we always see them only bugging each other.
It’s almost like sibling rivalry exists in real life and fiction is just reflecting it, and because it’s so commonplace and annoying, people are able to relate to it easily. As a matter of fact, Marc Brown based the Arthur characters on people he knew, including D.W., who, if I’m not mistaken, was inspired by his sisters, and on top of that, Marc based the titular character on himself, so the dynamic is based on personal experience. Artists draw inspiration from their lives when creating their art, and this why Arthur and D.W. have the dynamic they do, so who are you to tell artists what dynamics to use in their works?
I like Alvin and Simon's dynamic where they'll work together as often as they bicker with each other...or end up doing both at the same time. another one I like is Yin and Yang's which is pretty much the same thing, two polar opposite siblings who can't stand each other but team up when it counts...only difference is there's far more action.

I know DW was supposed to be teaching kids to be patient and tolerant of having annoying siblings, but damn, she was just too much. the ultimate test of patients. my own sister was annoying and even she hated DW.
My little sister isn’t annoying at all and she related to DW and loved her.
Funny enough I recall remembeering certain episodes differently as a kid. One example is when she blows a whistle on the kid running into the street. Instead of the mother pulling him away, the kid stops and looks at DW like "what the Hell are you doing"?

I know it doesn't count as an FU DW moment, since she technically fixed things for Arthur when she asked him to read his summertime-to-do list, but in "The Short, Quick Summer", the FU part was her attempting to do more harm than good, for as she quoted: "I was trying to make him feel rotten, and he feels great! I'm a failure as a little sister!" Also, the part where DW annoyed her entire family by confusing Kate's baby talk for her first word is really funny.

DW is a perfect example of how not to do a sibling character, yes you can have the fights, the disagreements and the mainpulation, but at the same time you need to have the positive traits such as willing to put up with what your siblings like, willing to give up your time to be with them and willing to learn about what they are into in order to get an understanding of why they like said thing. Arthur and Dw's relation boiled down to "Arthur being in the wrong all the time and dw being in the right all the time and never willing to understand each other"
Yup, my sister, and I fight like no one else, but at the same time we crack each other up like no one else can, and when we work together we're unstoppable. My ma once decided we swore to much, our favorite game to play while waiting for the bus was swearing at each other until we hit Cunt, which is the ultimate in America. My sister, and I found a loophole, if it was in the Bible, it could be said. We poured over it, found, and wrote down all cuss words, even found some we didn't know at 10&12, and No Swear Sunday only happened once

I would absolutely hate going to a puppet show! I am fully blind and once I went to a zoo. It was absolutely so much fun walking around touching fences and glass enclosures while hearing people read to you about what animals look like. I felt like I was going on an educational trip instead of actually going somewhere that kids go to have fun. I cried the whole time and said I would never go to the zoo again! Seven years later, I haven’t been since.

The "Sibling rivalry" Dynimic in fiction is so annoying. There are so many other dynamics that siblings can have, and yet on tv we always see them only bugging each other.
In mlp sisters are getting along well even if they have their downs as well as ups. That's what makes this show special 💕
It’s almost like sibling rivalry exists in real life and fiction is just reflecting it, and because it’s so commonplace and annoying, people are able to relate to it easily. As a matter of fact, Marc Brown based the Arthur characters on people he knew, including D.W., who, if I’m not mistaken, was inspired by his sisters, and on top of that, Marc based the titular character on himself, so the dynamic is based on personal experience. Artists draw inspiration from their lives when creating their art, and this why Arthur and D.W. have the dynamic they do, so who are you to tell artists what dynamics to use in their works?
I like Alvin and Simon's dynamic where they'll work together as often as they bicker with each other...or end up doing both at the same time.
another one I like is Yin and Yang's which is pretty much the same thing, two polar opposite siblings who can't stand each other but team up when it counts...only difference is there's far more action.
