Takes me back to a much simpler time in my life. This band has brought me so much joy I can’t even express what The Offspring has meant to me over the years from my youth till today at age 32.
i'm 34 and i feel your sentiment. i've been into the offspring since pretty fly for a white guy. but that said, i do feel that all their albums since conspiracy of one have all sounded the same, making me feel like it's just become a bit too repetitive.
This song has one of the most beautiful inner-parts ever. The way Dexter's voice just blends in and the melancholic way it sounds like your flying around mountains or something. Beautiful.

Dexter holland is a real rockstar. 1. Punk band frontman 2. Businessman 3. Pilot 4.Doctor Goddamn... i can't really say anything but praises for this man.☺
Yeah, so true, he really seems to be a very cool, intelligent and talented guy that has managed to stay normal and down to earth despite all of his success. Other rock stars at his age have had a dozen rehabs and even more arrests, divorces and custody battles, he does his PhD in biology and has his own collection of planes.🤣🤣
The funny thing is Dexter is one of 3 prominent punk singers to have a science PhD, the others being Greg Bad Religion and Milo Descendants. To the guy who said HIV is not an STD, just so you know, that's the opposite of how a guy like Dexter would believe. Scientists go by data and evidence, and do not believe BS conspiracy theories. Such theories are for people who think they are being smart, but actually don't really understand logical thinking, cause and effect, proper evaluation of evidence. See: vaccines cause autism, 9/11 was an inside job, the moon landing was fake, Area 51, Bigfoot, etc.
I am not normally a fan of punk rock but this song really pertains to my life right now. I just earned a master's degree in supply chain management but my speech-language pathologist mother-in-law is trying to bully me into becoming a speech therapist like her. She has pushed me around since I married my husband in 2013. She thinks that her way is the only way in life. I was a truck driver when I met my husband and she thinks that I am trash. She tries to control every aspect of my life including how I dress, what hobbies interest me, and what religion I want to follow. The more that she pushes the more that I resist. I am pushing 40 and I want to live my life how I want. I survived 4 suicide attempts, a drug and alcohol addiction, and an abusive marriage before I met my husband. I have completely cleaned up my life and I'm still not enough for her and I don't meet her standards. I am a volunteer firefighter and I am planning on becoming a paramedic next spring but she is really against it because she thinks that paramedics are "uneducated". I already pushed and resisted my ex-husband so she doesn't stand a chance against me.
I forgot how I got here but this popped up in my head 😊. Prob defiance against pointless brats... but yeah, I grew up on this. Also, I can't be religious w/ freakin Satan worshippers around me... also, also it's really easy to break down a foundation when there was never 1 to begin with... offspring having offspring. Its never ending.
This is my favorite The Offspring song. I remember listening to that "Can you leave it all behind," and thinking, "No, I can't." I want to freeze that moment in time and live there.
This song always brings me back to my childhood of being bullied and beaten up. I never gave up and I rise up to any challenge any self-imposed authority because of lyrics like these. I was way more angry back then but I have overcome all of it now and I'm proud of the person I've become.
@alexdavidson7498 That's a really great question. Most of the time , I got jumped after school with nothing within reach, and it was over before I could do much. I did improvise some items like a pen when someone kept pushing my desk and I stabbed their hand with it or when someone kept knocking my waterbottle out of my hand and I waited for them to do it again only to smack them upside their head with it open. His friends chased me down and dumped water on me after holding me down and knocking the wind out of me. I mostly wanted to ever fight on the same playing field and use my fists against someone else only using their fists. I didn't ever win because I didn't know how to fight until I started training, and by then, it gave me more confidence to no longer present as an easy target.
This made me think of how my work always wants me to study, & now I have an 80 hr course to finish w/ in the week. While working full time. No advance warning or anything. Her laughing about it to the wrong ppl , they laughed at her bc her face was fd up. & I didn't even fight her dirty. But stay excited. They don't like u either 🤗
I remember listening to this during my high school years 20 years ago. I swear that to every situation ive been I could find an offspring song that helped me get over some problems. Mainly with selfconfidence issues. Now years later I never turn from complicated situations, always handle what needs to be done. Never thought I could be one day doing management, being a technical leader and mainly be able to help others grow. For a major percentage I thank that to the Offspring :) best band ever
1:56 Have you noticed that there is a continuity error in the video? Here we can see in the background that the girls have left the Stop & Go shop when Dexter decides to go for the bottle of water. How does he discover the kids kissing if the girl is already outside?

This song regularly cycles as being the favourite Offspring Song at that moment. The "whoa no-oh" at the end of the song I'd one of my favourite set of notes ever sing to date!!!!
They have such an extensive discography, I’ve only just discovered this song today!!! But I have a feeling it’s not well known, “can’t repeat” is still my favourite single currently
A dozen years ago, my life was in a spiral. Lost a job and a couple of pregnancies. Became heavily depressed to the point of almost going the distance. Managed to come out the other side to see a third pregnancy come close to being lost. My daughter was born and spend 10.5 weeks in the NICU to come out a tiny but healthy child. While she was locked in that plastic box, I would sing those lyrics to her so she’d come out the other side of her harsh start on this mortal coil. To this day, this remains one of my fight songs.
At that time I remember be in my car driving to the office; listening Offspring so loud… Life was easier at that time; no Smartphone’s, no social media, no millennial guys complaining

@pranav288 If you like this, you'll probably love just about anything AFI released around 1999-2000. I believe that an AFI song called "Total Immortal" sounds like what Offspring tried very hard to imitate here.

Wow! I saw the video back in my high school days. I still remember the instrumental break in which Dexter buys what appears to be Dasani water at the store, like he needs a freakin' drink or something. That brings back memories! :)
Yo escuchaba esta canción cuando tenia 12 años, siempre fue una de mis favoritas, igual que The Offspring una de mis bandas favoritas, me trae muchos recuerdos
One of my favorite Offspring songs. I'm almost certain this was written as sort of an anthemic reaction to 9/11. I remember this being heavily featured on the "Orange County" soundtrack. It's a shame that the album that came out just after this, Splinter, wasn't nearly as awesome.
This is their most underrated song.
I love this song! ❤
recorded too late maybe.... this tune would be awesome in late 90's or early 2000's...

It is early 2000s actually. 2001. I love it now but seem to remember it being considered pretty generic at the time. That Staind sounding bit in the middle was the reason I think...

if youre still listening to The Offspring in 2024 youre probably old enough to remember when MTV played music 🔥
1986 FTW!

Fuck yea!
Yep, and probably drunk, just like me now
Yes sir !! got tickets to the show in Amsterdam may 2023, cant wait !

Oh I hear ya...I feel the same..and music just isn’t as good as the 90’s..😊great bands, great times..

There's probably good stuff out there but radio has formatted the life out any chance of hearing it unless you have all day to surf for it.
Most of us Gen Xers do.
Such a cold and plastic world now.

Я из Беларуси. И с юношества слушаю вас, ребята. Спасибо за волшебную юность!
Congratulations Dr. Holland! For those who don't know - the leader singer just finished his Ph.D. in molecular biology, with a thesis on HIV.
I was really impressed when I read that. And "punk rock is for stupid people who cannot make real music" right?
TheronC2 dangggg
TheronC2 yeah he's a doctor and a genius as he's always been a genius though.

The drummin' in this song is SO GOOD. Thanks Ron Welty!

That beat is iconic. Main reason why I love this song.

Can someone recommend more songs like this
@pranav288 If you like this, you'll probably love just about anything AFI released around 1999-2000. I believe that an AFI song called "Total Immortal" sounds like what Offspring tried very hard to imitate here.
Люблю
Grande pezzo!!! Grandi The Offspring! My favorite band!!!
Iam 60 and play them at work people just smile
I love this song. It´s so diferent.
❤ ce morceau est génial !!! Un des meilleurs. Très bonne reprise avec Éd- Sheeran aussi. ❤
You may push me around
But you cannot win
You may throw me down
But I'll rise again
The more you say
The more I defy you
So get out of my face
You cannot stop us
You cannot bring us down
Never give up
We go on and on
You'll never break us
Never bring us down
We are alive!
The wind blows
I'll lean into the wind
My angle grows
I'll use it to win
The more you say
The more I defy you
So get out of my way
All my will
All my strength
Rip it out
Start again
You cannot stop us
You cannot bring us down
Never give up
We go on and on
You'll never break us
Never bring us down
We are alive!
All my will
All my strength
Rip it out
Start again
All my will
All my strength
Rip it out
Start again
All my will
All my strength
Rip it out
Start again
All my will
All my strength
Rip it out
Start again
Can you leave it all behind?
Cause you can't go back
You can't go back
You cannot stop us
You cannot bring us down
Never give up
We go on and on
You'll never break us
Never bring us down
We are alive!
We are alive!
Clássico e atemporal 🤟🏻🇧🇷
2022 about to turn 30. Offspring spans generations
I love the offspring and I love how they are still a band 😊
I have just 15 years, but for me the offspring is one of the best band of world🤟❤
Wow! I saw the video back in my high school days. I still remember the instrumental break in which Dexter buys what appears to be Dasani water at the store, like he needs a freakin' drink or something. That brings back memories! :)
I divide you with faith
Provide you your soul
Defy you to love
I divide you with your faith
I provide you with your soul
I defy you into love
2020 while the world is burning 🔥
Now Im 37 YO, i still remember when i was kids for the first time i hear the Offspring, i miss that moment
Convenience stores seemed to feature a lot in music videos and movies and stuff in the 90's
They are the Americana
1:31 nice production
Yo escuchaba esta canción cuando tenia 12 años, siempre fue una de mis favoritas, igual que The Offspring una de mis bandas favoritas, me trae muchos recuerdos
One of my favorite Offspring songs. I'm almost certain this was written as sort of an anthemic reaction to 9/11. I remember this being heavily featured on the "Orange County" soundtrack. It's a shame that the album that came out just after this, Splinter, wasn't nearly as awesome.
Que buenos recuerdos, por ese entonces yo tenía 18 años y la pasaba super!
Good party.
love that jump from Noodles @3:30
My anger grows i'll use it to win.
