Man, this guy and so many like him running IHRA modified eliminator back in the 1980's was the absolute best sounding class ever!

OMG, 40 years ago I was running a 2800 lb white 71 Vega with a 305 ci chevy. Pretty much the same set up. D/MP 9500RPM hole shot shifting at 9500, Doug Nash 5 speed, Dana 6.17 gear. I was going 9.4's at 145 MPH...I miss that ride. People would ask me if it was a Bill Jenkins car...The guys I sold it to, Dave and Dan, asked to keep the name and graphics. Now racing at Milan Dragway known as the Al Gary Pro Stock Vega. Thanks Dave and Dan.

Miss the NHRA Modified Production class. Those high winding C/SM cars were the bomb.

Never understand why NHRA dropped modified at the end of 1981. All I can say is that it must have been personal, someone in modified must have really pissed off wally parks.

@@stephengarrison6395 Yes sir. My SBC Vega with a Dana 6.17 diff, it was last yellow light, release clutch, hole shot, engage clutch and pull 2nd gear. It was quick. No time to think.
