It's crazy really. I was huge into mini bikes back in the early 2000's with Yahoo! Groups and BBS. Mini bike people were laughed at back then. My first "race/toy vehicle" was a Tote Goat back then. I've gotten back into them the last couple years, and I'm glad they are getting more and more main stream recognition and respect the past couple years.
I'm 40yrs old, building my first minibike right now. I own a big shop, built many engines, LS swaps, TDI swaps, etc etc.... my new BiL brought his mini over last month and I had to have one! Even my ole lady loved riding it! 😂 When the ole lady is onboard, you know it's a GO!
I love all entry level motorcycle drag racing! That’s why I love the dirt drags! At the dirt drags you have every level of the spectrum of drag racers! All the way through and up to Top Fuel!
Jack, I'm just absolutely loving this video..... and what a super nostalgic trend we're seeing her! - Hey, how about that guy on Sporty loosing his horsy!?😂😂😂
They never lost popularity and they have all he's been in style and I always been around they never went away or anything maybe in your area but they've always been in popular
I am 52 and have 2 mini bikes, 1 has a stage 2 performance kit in it,my other 1 is still being built. The frame was a baja warrior that was crashed and the guy who crashed sold the motor and gave me the frame and i cut it apart and rebuilt it . Will be posting pics and vids of the whole process on RUclips
Mini bikes are a great community sport. It's all about the people coming together for an inexpensive, fun event. It's not for spectacle or gathering crowds
My first mini bike was a little Indian 3 hp, put many of hour’s on that bike and loved it and now I’m 68 years old now and its darn cool to see these guys having fun again 🇺🇸👍👍👍👍
Shii i started off on a homemade chassis with a 150cc upgrade valve, belt, piston shiii she ran on METHanol💀 i was racing toyota tercels and dirtbikes on that thing, it was all we had at the time but we didn’t know it was all we needed, I don’t think a mini bike chassis is gonna be enough to get to that level tho I think you DO need to upgrade for a wider or girthy one like from a moped or sum😂
You haven't seen anything yet until you see mine. I have a 236 stroker which is basically a gx200 reinforced race block with a 58mm stroker crank, billet components inside and out, supercharged and nitrous. My head should be here within 2 weeks. So i can get this fresh monster fired up for the 1st time. I'm ready!! Its a completely fresh build
I love that this is getting pretty popular, like they say it's cheap to get 3 times the power, also a great way to teach a son of nephew the basic on combustible engines how they work which will help them later on in life ,cars - trucks ,Lawn n garden when they get there first home,IAM 58 and just built a motor for a mini bike just to have fun with older son n my grand children n it gets them outside instead of being inside on a game or phone
Nothing but ear to ear grins from me. I can admit a big part of my childhood was on a mini. Yep after a short period of ownership the carb, intake and exhaust saw tweaking. 92 mph in a 1/8th is stunning. I was not putting any faith in the Harley to win. Now I’m wondering if my ZX6R would do any better.
Mini vs bagger was cool man, but you nailed it, I don't believe they'll (mini bikes)be a money maker for the tracks, they'll need their own track or own time at the track, and have their fans come out to watch and help the sport grow
I'm a mini bike engine builder in my main reason for getting into this hobby is the affordability and there an all-around blast to ride on even off a racetrack you don't need a trailer to haul them mine fits in the back of my minivan
All I wanted to do was let some buddies run exhibition passes at Darlington a couple years ago and then Paul wanted more. Minibikes from racing to restored to custom shows are a national thing. You can build and store them in an apartment. Race in the alley. I agree that too many of them could be an issue. They are part of an overall show of many classes. So for an AHWS race, eight in three classes is enough to put on a show. But Farmington would be a great place for a big minibike drag race. Who thinks a Minibike Weekend at The Farm is a good idea???
In Wisconsin you see mostly oval racing with minibikes. Take very little room. They do it in small parking lots and now warehouses. You are right. 330ft drags and a small oval for minibikes and save the track for the more entertaining stuff.
I got my grandaughter a little 110cc knock off 4wheeler for christmas. She wanted someone to "race" with. I scrambled and patched up a janky go kart we had laying around. But it was to small for me(47yrs old). Found a running monster moto 80cc mini bike on marketplace for 125. Got it home, threw a 127cc engine in it. It was decent. The next payday, i got a 224 predator for it. It rips now. I see the appeal. Cheap fun
Excellent video! Love all the home built Mini bike chassis. You kinda sparked an interest here. I do have an old mini bike in the shop corner., bunch of spare C'moly tube.
I’m from the island of Maui. Being an island 2000 miles out in the pacific to get anything here cost big bucks. We have a drag strip and a community of serious drag racers with some fast cars. They’re super loud and spectators can sit at the start line about 50 get away, it smells and sounds like serious power. Only thing is there’s only about 20 fast cars. Then there’s the other 200 racers that show up in their daily drivers. As a spectator, it’s absolutely necassary to bring a bunch of beer or something to make it fun. For the racers it’s a blast, I’ve been in the pits . My brother races an old pimped out VW bug. Its a lot of work and slot of fun at the end of the day, but if your not pulling at least a 9 second quarter mile, nobody is gonna get pumped up to watch. It’s just the facts of life. That doesn’t mean the slower cars shouldn’t bevsblr to run it just means as a promoter , someone interested in getting g ppl in the gates, it’s something g that needs to be addressed. I have no solutions , I just know it’s like watching paint dry after about two drags. I was thinking of making a mini bike to drag matter fact. Something that nobody said, there’s a lot of. Reactivity involved in making the motor from your lawn mower pull 200 lbs down a drag strip in 8 seconds. Look at the crazy things people are coming up with. That’s the appeal. But you’re right there’s gonna be 600 mini bikes show up in a couple years as the trend catches more attention, like maui drags you’ll have a few fast pumped out minis run tgenn300 stock mini bikes straight off thr show room floor of the tractor supply store. It’s great for family friendly fun camping g out party timed but there’s nobody in the right mind gonna pay $20 bucks to sit and watch that. You can’t even pay someone to sit through a day of that. Anyways
Guess he hasn't herd about the 2stroke Motorized Bicycles, The old is new and will always be Fast👾👽👍 We like Mini bikes too,Buddy save a Doodle Bug, --
Mini bike scene is crazy in LA. It's a matter of time before it takes off all over the country. You can go from budget all the way to running low 7s and 6s if you want. Something really cool about being able to take a platform and build it to an extreme level without having to sink tens of thousands of dollars in. Allows the creative of us to show our engine and chassis building skills without draining the bank.
Not my personal way to roll in the quarter, but maximum props for the guy who chose this route and it’s working for him. All you need and nothing you don’t. Modified many different ways. But he’s not saying what. Obscurity is the racer’s edge. Making it go fast without spending a fortune. That’s what it’s all about for many of us. I’m thinking a Triumph triple putting out 150hp or so and is street legal. I think keeping the nose down will be the real problem for the hard chargers in the mini bike classes. I’m already wondering if I want to try to build one. Maybe with a hot crate motor. But I hate having to sort out all the classes and regs but don’t want to run open class. No blower, no nitro etc. Are people running grudge drags on quads? Any trike classes? And tell us when it’s an eighth. You can figure it out from time and trap speed but it’s a pain in the rear. -Matt’s dad Hooning for life. Much love and respect for your channel. Talking to riders, owners, mechanics etc. a nice extra.
Contemplating a mini funny drag bike. Ideally it would be a well built Duramax 440 stage 3 sitting behind the rear wheel, positioning the rider low and in front of the rear wheel.
Great video! Bringing drag racing back to regular people. Just like it started years ago. But your point about interest is valid. I don't have the answer.

Go to Gulf Port Dragway this month on the 28th Mini bike racing to the 330 foot small and big block classes and I’ll be there with the only electric race bike there. It’s definitely somthing to see in person . Hope to see you there 🤙💪
I think this is great, I am 58 yrs. old and had a mini bike as a child, it was red, don't recall the brand but i do remember it was powered by a, 3 or 3.5 hp Techumse engine.
LOL.. Honda Mini Trail 70, less than $500 would make you a star, where I grew up the neighbor had a gully that we could shoot down one side and up the other and then do a great big jump flying through the air over a driveway and onto the grass.. was both fun and dangerous as hell and sometimes we would do it with two or even three on.. in retrospect it was kind of hard on the motor mounts.. and the handlebars.. fortunately another neighbor had one of those pipe benders in a pinch
man this was a good video. well put together bud. first time ever seeing the mini bike drag scene. and you make a great point, its going to impact spectators. it can get redundant. CycleDrag, i always appreciate your content
Mini bikes and generator Stout engine modifications are what got me into motorcycles and two wheeled devices. I originally got into all this from drag racing mini bikes in the 8th mile. It's great to see how far things have come
Run the Mini Bikes on a smaller track ( iin the pit area Private ) and when you get down to the fastest four ortwo ( mini bikes ) RUN those on the big track so people can see and for those guys to mini bikes guys to get a new found support... Thats how it should be on every track...
I am 100% for it. Anything to get kids and young adults out racing works for me and I'm 74 years old. Been racing since I was 18.
Nice sir😎
I'm 76, built minibike with 350cc motorcycle engine back in '68... licensed as a Cushman scooter...
I like the minis. It is a wide open category of drag racing with an ultra low buy-in that anyone can learn and take to as high a level as they desire.
“I am a boy !”🫵🏼 Little man told you. 😂
That was funny had to replay a few times!
Dumb parents
Got him with that finger pointing too lol
Yeah I came to comment to he should of said my bad at least hahaha
😭😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm 40yrs old, building my first minibike right now. I own a big shop, built many engines, LS swaps, TDI swaps, etc etc.... my new BiL brought his mini over last month and I had to have one! Even my ole lady loved riding it! 😂 When the ole lady is onboard, you know it's a GO!
That’s impressive! My FTRs fastest pass in the 1/8th is 7.0 and 10.98 in the 1/4! Gotta start building a mini bike now!!
10.98? Really? 1320 feet? My 71 Norton 750 Commando E.T.was identical. Pee wee Gleason
That’s insane!
I love all entry level motorcycle drag racing! That’s why I love the dirt drags! At the dirt drags you have every level of the spectrum of drag racers! All the way through and up to Top Fuel!
I like dirt drags also! The way they kick up a huge rooster tail is more exciting than asphalt drag racing.
Jack, I'm just absolutely loving this video..... and what a super nostalgic trend we're seeing her! - Hey, how about that guy on Sporty loosing his horsy!?😂😂😂
This video made me go brush my teeth!
LOL I don't know about you but I was hearing dueling banjos in the background this whole video.
😂😂😂😂😂
Sooo glad these are becoming popular again!!! I have many built mini bikes even a drag in the 70’s!
Always loved them!!!
stop lying
They never lost popularity and they have all he's been in style and I always been around they never went away or anything maybe in your area but they've always been in popular
@@thebear6529 LOL right
OMG!! Love the T-shirt Mom with the Hot dogs had on..lol-John
I see a lot of slow bikes there. Although I must say the minibike at the end of the video doing a 6.79 is quite impressive.
I loved mini bike racing.
The Hally Davison overlooked the mini bike and he got his disgrace. I love that. Never overlook your your engagement.
Big upgrades from the ole Rups. :) Great to see all the fabrication- I look forward to more!
I am all for it. Inexpensive way to have fun, compete, and to use fabrication skills.
91 mph on a mini bike wow that’s fast👍
I am 52 and have 2 mini bikes, 1 has a stage 2 performance kit in it,my other 1 is still being built. Because It's fun man! I'm 60yrs down the road and I love mini bikes! Thanks for sharing. I'm going take mine to the digs this year... J.
Yesss! 😄👏 cheap, easy, and small footprint! Jr. Drag engines on the little bikes are pretty sweet!
15:11 Harley vs Mini bike! 3,2,1... Launch! =) Game, Set, Match!
6.79 seconds @ 91 miles per hour!

92 mph in a 1/8th is stunning. I was not putting any faith in the Harley to win. Now I’m wondering if my ZX6R would do any better.
I seen that shady side clip 🤟🤟🤟
Tim looked so stoned. Of course he’s on a mini bike.
MY 80" Harley Shovel Head did the 1/8 mile at 5.9 and 83 mph and it was stock with solid ifters
Mini vs bagger was cool man, but you nailed it, I don't believe they'll (mini bikes)be a money maker for the tracks, they'll need their own track or own time at the track, and have their fans come out to watch and help the sport grow

OK who else still comes back as a routine to rewatch this. 🤣🤣🤣
Love to see this!
Love how exhaust comes out of the intake and exhaust pipe. Overlap is fun
People better wake up minibike life ain’t no joke we live this love the video 🤟🏾

Mini bikes are the future 💯💯🇺🇲
I Love these little Badass Mini Bikes !! Promoters could put the faster mini's between the big bike drags. Captive Audiences??
I remember rolling around my uncle's shop back in 70's on one of those mini bikes. Cool to see!
A 6 Second Minibike In The 1/8 Is Much Funner To Watch Than A Top Fuel Drag Bike Any Day Wow Go Minibike You Are Definitely A Motorcycle 💪✌️
14:35 is the race that poor Harley 😂🏍🍻🤘
That was crazy! Not even close! It's the size of the fight in the dog!

330ft drags and a small oval for minibikes and save the track for the more entertaining stuff.

"caught too much traction i DO believe" 😂😂
Its only a gateway drug… leads to sportbikes.
I have friends who beef up riding mowers, wheelie bars and all
I want the mini bike with the Jr Dragster motor lol. Dude you do some amazing work.
Minibike life ain’t easy we out here smoking bigger bikes 🤘🏾
That’s awesome. That young man just said he did 9.6 that’s nothing to bat a eye at .
I built my first bike maybe a year ago. I’ve fell in love with the Motovox MBX10 frame and I have about 5 of them lol. Can’t wait to finish my wife’s
Mini bikes are badass
Was dying when (8:38 - 8:44)! 😂☠️
" how about you young lady, are you racing today" shakes head no.. " im a boy" lmaooooo

I think an industrial engine based class would be awesome, I'd build one.
That's the most missing teeth I've seen in 18 minutes in my life! 6.79? I'm impressed. Best I ever did with my Honda CBR 600 was 7.85.
Big weight differential!
Doesent the stearing get too sensitive at highter speeds with small dia front wheels ?
Steering dampener.

Hooning for life.
Much love and respect for your channel. Talking to riders, owners, mechanics etc. a nice extra.
The boys from Detroit Shure knows to build fast bikes!
Detroit hood TV?
Them guys on the west coast so far are the fastest hitting 100+ 1/4 Mile see it with my eyes.
Contemplating a mini funny drag bike. Ideally it would be a well built Duramax 440 stage 3 sitting behind the rear wheel, positioning the rider low and in front of the rear wheel.
Good commentator/host been, riding 50+ yrs worst take out I ever got was on a mini bike back in the 60's !
That was a badass minibike😮
is it just me or is this video jammed packed with memes!!!!
Great video! Bringing drag racing back to regular people. Just like it started years ago. But your point about interest is valid. I don't have the answer.
Who doesn't like mini bikes? Everyone riding one has a smile on their face. And it's fun to beat up on street harleys.....lol.
Hey, I’ve met that guy who pushes the mini bike back at the line, and who is interviewed after the race, cannot remember his name, but he is a genuine cool dude, if your reading this, I was the guy selling the Kart downtown by the skate park this summer.
Holler back if ya read this!!!
Few questions about the really fast bike at the end of the video where do I find a torque converter drive pulley that will reach those high RPMs with a 1 inch shaft or did you guys turn your shaft down to 3/4
Doesn't matter what you ride just as long as you enjoy the ride
Go to Gulf Port Dragway this month on the 28th
Mini bike racing to the 330 foot small and big block classes and I’ll be there with the only electric race bike there. It’s definitely somthing to see in person . Hope to see you there 🤙💪
I like them minis, Very cool
I think this is great, I am 58 yrs. old and had a mini bike as a child, it was red, don't recall the brand but i do remember it was powered by a, 3 or 3.5 hp Techumse engine.

Look at those hot dogs😱😂you glizzy🥒 gobblers 😂🤣😭
It's great to see how far things have come
Big bore snowmobile cvt. Stage 5 670 predator. Don’t know much with their fueling but that still has to be close to 5k to build
I went to a AHDRA event in Colorado WAY back in 2001. They had a Junior Dragbike class with many entries!
Great video!
What frame is that? I want to use something like that for my build. Any recommendations?
Awesome episode!
Ya don't need big bucks to go bad-ass.
Research, design, build, compete & HAVE FUN!
The little bikes need a wittle track… 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Run the Mini Bikes on a smaller track ( iin the pit area Private ) and when you get down to the fastest four ortwo ( mini bikes ) RUN those on the big track so people can see and for those guys to mini bikes guys to get a new found support... Thats how it should be on every track...
