I think a scooter class is a really good idea at 1/8th mile events, will bring people with lower budgets into the fold, ima take this idea and see how far I can promote it in my country 😁
It already is, most 1/8 mile tracks have a "trophy" or "juniors" class which usually includes sleds, motos, scooters, jr dragsters, go karts and mini bikes.
Arctic Cat snowmobiles have a 1000cc 2 stroke 3 cylinder engine made by Suzuki its pretty bullet proof in the 200 hp range but much more available if needed. You can pick up old Thundercat snowmobiles in Canada cheap the sleds are 20 years old now.
I remember when the banshee came out. After a few years us farm kids could find them blown up and get em cheap enough we could build them up. I can tell you how it feels to go 90+ on one. ONE HELL OF A RUSH. Now the only smoker I got is a basketcase 430 Husqvarna dirt bike.
I’ve got a gas tank frame, gas bicycle drag bike I have not hit the dragstrip yet but living on a dirt road it’s turned into a mud bog so it’s full of mud😢 can’t wait to get the gas drag bicycle cleaned up and ready for the dragstrip
Thanks for posting this up for us. I may be up north but your literally 10 miles away from my moms,15 from my aunts, and 7 from my friends. And I'm in the snow 1300 miles away clawing at my armrests watching. Imagining that smell ! 2 stroke, Alcohol, and Mangrove swamp > 75f @100% humidity So Fricken glorious! AAARGH !! I am sooo jelly of them right now...might have to take an Allegiant air, low buck day trip down by you next time your out..Ill say its to visit relatives,we know better.
yes banshee engines when built are tough no doubt but why not nut up and put a tripple two-stroke and call it a day? if you put one of those in that super light frame you gotta a pair that clank!

@@cycledrag I own a banshee and race just with friends in the sand at glamis sand dunes . So I liked the quads in the vid the best . I have only hit a top speed of almost 80 on my stock 2000 banshee
why do i see that banshee as a potential hazzard for the driver??? one of those pistons goes thru the top and the driver gets a face full of fuel on fire. might want to rethink that design...
I dont get it. I can go out and buy a gsxr1000-1300 for a couple of grand. Stretch it, remove weight, slam it, put -1,+2 sprockets with a DID chain, nitrous bottle and a cheap radial with a quickshifter. Runs flat 8s all day at the strip for less than 10k on 91 octane. Simple, fast reliable for 10 years.

This is great keep these young men off the street racing and involved in racing thanks for covering this event
That wasn't an "oasis of speed" it was an "asylum for speed"!
Less money but more crazzy equals lots of fun.
Love seeing that scooter and small bikes have a big following in drag racing.
I think this is as pure a form of drag racing as you can get.
Those Banshee's are awesome.

Those quads are surprisingly quick. I guess the extra surface area on the tires helps immensely.
5.72!!!!!!!!!!!!That's faster than Chris Moore went on his latest 1/8 mile drag video, with his set up R1M!

Is there anything like this near Chicago? Would like to know.
