  • Hi Guys,
    Just a little guide on what is needed to put a blacktop Zetec into a MK2 Escort.
    As you can see from the video it is a budget conversion it is not the neatest install but not the most expensive either! Excuse the poor filming/editing!
    Thanks for watching, any questions feel free to ask.
    list of parts I used:
    2L blacktop
    Home made water rail
    Home made alternator/pulley mount
    CVH 1.8 Sierra sump
    1.8 Zetec flywheel
    1.8 Zetec Mondeo MK1 clutch
    Luk 500018410 release bearing
    Standard Sierra 1.8 type 9 gearbox/mount
    Standard Sierra 1.8 type 9 starter motor

    Nice job, the way you are upgrading is the same way I would go. I hope it all goes well for you, it has given us a few ideas.

    Do you have a part number for the early mondo clutch you used? I want to go down the same route but want to make sure I get the correct one?

    Hi Ashley, did you buy the chassis mount parts as a kit? It looks like the bushes are the same as WCXM ones. I think some chassis mount kits use leaf spring bushes, which I would of thought transfer more vibrations to the chassis. Thanks for doing this video, definitely helps a lot with people looking at doing the conversion!

      Tom Gibbs hello, Yeah I bought a kit not sure where from though. Its fairly stiff but its not mega stiff that the car shakes. If you get what I mean!

    Is that release bearing a mk1 Mondeo part aswell or is that a specialised part, also, when you say clutch, do you mean clutch cover and pressure plate??
    Thanks this video has solved many problems already 👍

    • @AshleyBurch
      @AshleyBurch  6 лет назад +1

      Kristian Ellis hello, The bearing is a sierra part, similar to original escort item just has a spacer built into it. Yes clutch cover and pressure plate from a MK1 Mondeo. Cheers dude.

    Ashly, I know it's been 2 year since you shared this video, but do you remember what bellhousing did you use? Standard Type9? I'm looking forward to swap my 2.0lts pinto for a 2.0 Zetec, and still be able to use my stock 4spd Type E gearbox.

    • @AshleyBurch
      @AshleyBurch  5 лет назад +1

      Sorry for late reply. Yes I used a standard bell housing, I got gearbox/housing straight from a Sierra 1.8 cvh.

      No I have not had it dyno'd its not actually been setup yet! So I could be missing out on power! Well zetecs can be put in relatively cheap also can be very tuneable. Could also go st170 and use the vvt.

    I have a blacktop and a modified cvh sump, teh sump doesnt fit properly and the oick up line wont fit either because of the bolts on the internals, any ideas how I can get round this as I do not want to buy a retroford sump for 3 times the price of the engine lmao

    • @AshleyBurch
      @AshleyBurch  6 лет назад

      Dnoop_Sogg yeah you can get away with bashing it with a hammer, I extended mine slightly. If I was doing it again I would buy a Neil Dunne sump. Much better price than retroford and fit really well the few I have seen.

  • @1littlechris
    @1littlechris 6 лет назад

    Any pictures or a video off How did u make the sump fit and how did you bolt the pick up pipe on where it bolts to the crank bearing

    • @AshleyBurch
      @AshleyBurch  6 лет назад

      Chris a hello, the pickup pipe I just used a bolt with two nylock nuts to stop it moving (you can buy a adaptor thingy from retroford). I extened the sump slightly where people say you just need to bash it. Watch the video below you'll see what I mean by the bolt and the sump. Excuse the shite mic! Ashley Burch thanks that helped abit but my sump s catching on the oil pump Did urs catch there as its no letting the holes line up

    • @AshleyBurch
      @AshleyBurch  6 лет назад

      Chris a yeah. People said you can bash it but I ended up making a slight buldge with the welder. I drilled a few holes a few mm bigger and tapped 4 holes in the 4 corners. Honestly if I was doing it again I would get a neil dunne sump. Cvh was a pain to get it to seal properly. I found only could get it to seal was with engine out.

    • @1littlechris
      @1littlechris 6 лет назад

      Ashley Burch yeah I was gonna drill and tap the holes any. Any pictures off the bulge u make

    • @AshleyBurch
      @AshleyBurch  6 лет назад

      Just had a look and dont have any sump photos unfortunately. Unless you can just see it in a video but don't think I filmed it much. I'll try grab a photos in a few days when next up there. But its literally just a metal plate over the end then cut/grind away what was hitting the oil pump.

Im just going to swap my 2l pinto in sierra for a 2l Zetec engine (45mm dual carbureted, fast road cams, tubular headers etc)
