This looks absolutely beautiful! Imagine if you could put this entire thing on the workshop as a ploppable! I'd use it.. Would like to see you finish it though with the layout with runways etc, and see how it actually functions. Great stuff!
I really like the aesthetics of this one. You may want to have some sort of military presence to represent the increased security needs of an airport that was only accessibly by tunnel. Or maybe get more James Bond-y with a tunnel hidden in a hangar which goes back to the city. Even if the tunnel isn't connected, the backstory is fun
Nicely done. But don't forget fences inside the airport that would be around the fire station and police etc. They don't want people wondering in from the pick up and drop off spots.

I *think* you get an extra attractiveness bonus if you provide bus routes from your airport to "tourist" area in your city. Might help over on crater lake.

I travel a lot for work I have been to Denver Airport they do have that hotel at the airport and Puerto Rico Airport (SJU) just to name a few. I'm going to Japan at the end of the year so I will check out your statement about their airport. I also have a degree in Airport Management I really enjoyed your build. 👍🏾
You know, I spent last night trying to figure out a terminal arrangement similar to this. But gave up trying to figure out how to balance the airport transport options, or use some of the other MT hubs. I may need to try again. Gotta figure out why my underground view isnt working first though. And after this, i realized i need to up my landscaping game. I tend to make concrete jungles more so than open space. Only criticism I may give for this if you are going for realism would be flight line access for the fire department. I haven't seen part 2 of this yet, so perhaps you add it later. or another station. Other than that, this looks great. BTW, there are a few animated fountains on the workshop if you want. just search "animated fountain"
Thank you for mentioning the fountains. That would have been nice to have! I unfortunetally forgot to add more fire access. After recording part two I thought to myself adding fire helicopters would have been a smart idea. You will figure out your airport. It took me a lot of testing and looking on Google earth to come up with these ideas. Try toggling anarchy when switching between underground and above ground. I have found since the update that anarchy stops it and sometimes does something weird with the underground view. It is helpful though once you get used to it. Thank you for the comment!
@@CityZilla yeah, you know i originally did not purchase the natural disasters dlc because i don't like destroying my cities i build. But i missed the helicopters. So since i got this big ol airport dlc, I had to go buy the ND dlc too just to get the helicopters back. cause what kind of airport would it be without helicopters flying around (more than passenger helos) I like making military bases. So what kind of military base would it be without a few apaches flying around. But yeah, I'll have to try that. My ship and plane routes also werent showing. I think I'm just going start a new map. The one I was playing was supposed to be of where I live, but it wasn't quite to scale, so I couldn't even get a reasonable replication. of some of the most notable aspects.
Ah, that's sucks. It can be tough dealing with scale in this game. A lot of the distances just don't work well together. The helicopters are deffinitally worth it.
id love to beable to sit outside and watch the planes take off and land with the kids while we wait for few hrs to switch planes help in the trip something keeping kids not bored is a massivvvvvve feat bro 😂
I didn't really use a ton of custom assets for this. Mostly just the little planters and then the BIG parking lots. I use a decent amount of mods though which helped me to form some of the shapes and designs. They can all be found on steam in my collection. The rest is in game assets.
It is a nightmare! 😅 That's why I didn't really show it to much. In my test I only did it from one direction. Probably should have kept it like that. Thanks for the comment! : )
@@CityZilla just look at big international airports on Google Maps and u’ll see the spaghetti is above ground. Tunnels are expensive so they aren’t used that much in airports. And if they use a tunnel it’s a straight through road that certainly doesn’t have an offramp in the tunnel.
Off ramps in tunnels are a thing. Boston has these off of the 93 in its downtown. But I see where you are coming from. It's mostly about it all being underground when they would have other options. I think it would have been more realistic to place the turnarounds off of the island on either end. Only because the project calls for the tarmac to be above where the mess is right now.
Whoever at which dev thought we wanted this needs to be fired…airports require so many parts of the game that don’t work properly. FIX THOSE THINGS FIRST!!
Thanks for the comment! I think we will see a lot of the game mechanic improvements in a sequel. Based off of what I have read most mechanical issues stem from the outdated game engine this runs on. Based off of that I think this dlc is a good thing. It gives us something to hold us over until a sequal.

I think you should have some monorail going to a monorail metro hub so you can have some parking farther out but still make it feel included

How does the water look soo blue? When I build something with water it‘s always so dark.
I use a map theme that turns the water a different color. You can also directly adjust the color of the water using theme mixer 2.
