Your airports are growing so slowly because you only have planes departing. You need to have taxiways at each end of the runway as they are effectively one way roads.
A few tips: -You can build multiple airport terminals, for ease of access. The large ones are interesting for creating massive roundabout-like structures, and having multiple helps when one catches fire. -Runways and taxiways alike function as one-way roads. Make sure your planes don't have traffic issues and can access everywhere. Runways need a connection in and out of the runway, and they _will_ taxi up the entire length of a runway if you put both at the same end - the game has guidance markers for where to ideally connect them. It's best to alternate the direction of taxiways and create loops so they can get wherever they need. -Planes need a way off your runway as well as on. If you only have a way on, planes will spawn in, fly off, and never return. If they can't get on they will fly in, despawn, and be removed from existence indefinitely. -Airport style doesn't matter too much. Technically, ultramodern stuff has a slight bonus in terms of attractiveness. -Everything in the Airports DLC is very, very sensitive to terrain height changes. Most of it won't work when not on level ground. This is why the zone makes the terrain perfectly flat. -Concourse hubs have connections for metro lines. The airport itself can have added connections for train lines and for busses. Bus lanes are on the terminal roads. Take advantage of that. -The luxury hotel is cheaper because it turns a higher profit. Since it does, it can break closer to even with its expenses, though it still has _some_ cost. Budget hotels don't make the money to do that so they take more. -Concourse hubs don't have to be connected to the main section. The concourse doesn't have to merge at all, and as such it can simply be accessible either separately via bus/elevated station, or through its integrated metro line. This is helpful when dragging a concourse across the entire airport isn't viable, though you can do the same with a standalone concourse or another terminal. -Cargo airports don't have concourses, which are for transporting passengers, they have cargo roads for, you guessed it, transporting cargo by truck. Cargo aircraft stands connect to that and the taxiways and runways work the same with those stands. Trains can take cargo in to transport it by truck but I don't think they can move cargo directly to the planes. -The airline headquarters can go literally anywhere, including out of your airport zone and somewhere downtown. -Runways have no maximum length and nothing requires a runway longer than its minimum, 3000 meters, other than personal preference for aesthetics.
He also needs to learn how taxiways work, the way he set them up only let people leave. The taxiways being wrong make it so that regardless of if his city is perfect, tourist's can't enter via airport.
As a pilot, I've been nothing but yelling at you this entire video, and absolutely lost it when you put the control tower at the end of the runway. The insanity is amazing haha
Even tho they are just decorations when he boxed the hangers and the plans behind the terminal halls and between the hotels I went crazy and immediately skipped the rest of the video😂😂
The amount of pain I went through watching this seeing kibitz NOT PUTTING ANY ARRIVALS INFRASTRUCTURE DOWN. no out on the end of the runway, no loop for the taxiways, GAAHHHHH its like that round peg any shape hole video…
"So that's the whole nine yards then..." Well yes but actually no. U need to have the taxiways go both to and from the runway (and basically circle the airport once) since all taxiways are one-ways. I've been actually yelling this at my screen one or two times when Kibz was wondering why there were so few flight guests... Also, name suggestion for the Airport: New Venturium adventure ICAO Code: NNVA IATA Code: NVA xD
Kibitz the taxi ways are 1 way roads so you can only have planes departing so your not actually going to get any use from the hotels or transit hubs because no one can fly into your airport
You need to make the airport able to handle arriving planes to make money. That allows for people to come thus the arriving planes give you money. To do it it’s easy: Add taxiways from the other end of the runway and make sure they are going the same direction as the others and make every stand available to the incoming airplane traffic.
Kibz! The taxi ways are one-way! You only made it possible for planes to leave, but never to land. You need taxi ways from the runway to the stand, and back again. Also, the name of the airport: Schitpol Airport.
K the reason why ur airport was not doing well was because u did not connect the other end of the runway to the taxiways so no planes can lane they can only take off
I'm terrified if you ever decide to play Workers and Resources Soviet Republic.. Because that game is basically, Cities Skylines + Factorio + Tropico, with a map 10x the size of Cities Skylines. I'm terrified because of the insanity you might create.
You have to connect the Runway on the other end to, so arriving planes can go to the airport. People can only depart from your airport. That's probably why you are not making any MONEE!
OK, the taxiway for arrivals has been addressed. Your decorations such as hangers, plane lots, & fuel depots don't need to be attached to the concourse, they can be connected by taxiways, which is a lot cheaper to maintain than 2 miles of concourse. The extra terminal hub(s) doesn't have to be directly connected to the main terminal, you can plop it down anywhere, run extra concourse for more plane stands, then connect them via subway. P.S. can you callmyour airline "plummet airways"?
As a pilot i was screaming at taxiway design, terminal placement, runway placement, where he put the control tower, etc but i loved the episode so much and imma have to redownload city skylines now
Kibitz... I am.. almost disappointed with you... I was pulling my hair out watching this.. xD Which airports do you know that only have outgoing traffic?!
Your taxi way allowed for planes to leave but not for planes to arrive. Solution is on runway for arrival and one for departure. Also your gates need to be connected from both arrivals and departures. If you want you airport to be realistic, your runaway must be 3km. Love the Vids tho
Not sure how this all works but don't you need an arrival path for plans to get to the terminals? It looks like all of those taxing roads are one way. Right now all of your flights are going out or am I wrong?
17:00 that's all well and good until the wind comes from the other way and your planes are grounded because they cant take off right over that section of the airport. Or for that matter come into land over that section on a normal wind day. Also you're cutting off a good chunk of useable runway by not having the taxiway connect to the numbers side of the runway.
You built the airport so peps con only LEAVE. You need a taxyway leading into the parking from near ether end so aircraft landing can trolly back to the terminal.
How did you not notice that no planes were landing in your city? lol You didn't make taxi ways for planes to land and I actually wanted to shout at my TV while watching this.
I just imagined the life of the construction workers in the city. Like, you're not from the area and coming in for a new job on day one. You help finish off an airport terminal the city asked for a couple weeks in. Barely minutes after you left the spot, the next job comes in; "Demolish the whole terminal again. The Mayor has looked at the stats and is pleased." You protest loudly to your coworker. He just laughs and says that that's just the everyday life here.
Besides all the other comments about taxiways, you can increase passenger count by switching off "Allow intercity" at your train stations and closing any intercity bus stations, plus closing passenger harbours so they all have to use the airport. Make sure there is fast transit from those areas to the airport for maximum coverage.
It probably took years to get that many passengers because they had to build new planes each time they wanted to leave. Let's chalk that up to excitement shall we?
FYI, the concourse hub is for internal metro at the airport. Large airports are made up of different concourses and rather having passengers walk miles trying to reach their gates, they have metros that run to each concourse.
I used to go in and out of Tokyo airport a ton (the domestic one). The literally have too many planes for the gates, so tons park a little farther out, and the stair vehicles and buses and all that have to pick passengers up and bring them to and from the terminal.
The taxiways are one-way roads for airplanes. You've built ways for planes to leave the terminals, but no way for them to arrive at the terminals You need to have taxiways that will take planes that land on the runway over to the terminals. That will make the passenger count go up faster and make your money go up faster.
Kibz....you need to have a taxiway connected to *each end* of the runway for incoming and outgoing planes. Your not making any money because planes can't come *IN*. Hangars *can* attach to the concourse....but they shouldnt. Hangars should be attached to taxiways, not concourses.

One disappointment of your build, just some constructive criticism, was very upset when you removed the control tower from the end of the runway. Please put that back as you originally had it planned because I am sure there's nothing more that the airport crew would love more than a constant fear of having a Boeing 747 plow into them at 300 mph. Plus there is literally no other place that gives them as close of a view as that position!! Your airport fits this build perfectly, change nothing besides putting that tower at the end of the runway as it should be! Love the work bro, keep it up!
@11:38 there was a siren or something in game, well I'm under a tornado watch rn and I nearly shit myself cause I thought it was my town's tornado siren going off lol
I'm thinking about using DFW as a guide but damn if that Airport is not crazy. It has a highway running through the middle of it with concourses running over the top of the highways because the terminals are cut in half from the highways going through the middle. It was 5 or 6 runways with one more smaller one on the north side and one on the south side running perpendicular to the large runways in the middle. I haven't even played the Airlines DLC yet so that may be a bit too much to do on my first Airline.
USE any of the large parked planes. they are the best cost efficiency for attractiveness.. none of the "decorations" are functional except the hotels. and the hotels arent as cost efficent anyway just load up your taxiways with parked large planes and max out your ticket price.. GG
2 runways starting at the same point and going perpendicular to one another ( in and L shape) would likely greatly increase your efficiency for the runways, probably wouldn’t hurt to just make essentially a parking lot of taxi ways so the access to the runways is ezpz lol
As has been said in the comments a lot... You gotta have a place to get planes from the END of the runway, back to the stands. Or how do you get any incoming planes?
I think the run way also needs a place at the end to get off it to the plane parking areas ... after all how are the planes supposed to get of the runway when they land
So any name suggestions for the airport?
I hope the name of the airport is related to us screaming at our screens for the missing inbound taxi ways 😂
I can't land because no taxiways!
Taximare
Maybe to let them arrive too? So far ur allowing only departures, u will need to conect the other end of runway too
