So when games start failing, and companies have to start trimming the fat to stay out of the red, the underpreforming employees have to go first, which would be said unqualified female diversity hires. It would be men if men didnt actually have to work for their spots.

well... apparently Amy Henning was one of the writers in the story team and creative consultant of Forspoken...so yeah, I think why Uncharted -series worked so well was because it had both and they had to make compromises. Now when they work alone we got this TLoU part 2 and Forspoken shit okay some can argue that Uncharted 4 and TLoU part 1 was made with just Neil Druckmann, my guess is why those still worked was because there were still (non-woke) people who were willing to say Druckmann that his ideas where stupid

And Amy work on Battlefield Hardline - I wouldn't personally class this game as "good", but story was solid and she was only a writer for Visceral games/EA.

The original DOOM devs were a bunch of bros in a basement who had the absolutely brilliant idea of a FPS where you kill demons in space. And the reason? Because it sounded fucking amazing, and it was lo and behold it was!
You can feel it in final product it was made by someone making game they wish existed type of game they wanted to play. My go to example such games is Two Worlds other great example of this is Conduit.
Game devs dont make games for gamers. They make games for other game devs who came from a similar background as themselves (so mostly upper middle class to upper class background).

Being an old guy who was already suffering some back pain at the time, I requested that they pick and load the lumber, which is a standard service, Lo and behold, neither of them was capable of lifting a sheet of plywood, let alone load it into a pickup truck. I waited 15 minutes for them to try and locate a man to do their job for them before just doing it myself.
I doubt the man they were looking for would fare any better honesty. I work production and the number of people of both sexes that just can’t do the bare minimum or even place effort is high.

There have been studies that have shown that when boys and girls played with toys, boys would adapt and like to imagine themselves more as the toy they were playing with, whereas the girls would gravitate towards toys that they felt they could already identify with. Likely explains alot of the self inserts when these DEI women needed to feel like they identified with the character, rather than men who as boys find it fun to experience something through a different lens. Not bashing or hating on women, but I think it's part of why it's being rejected. It's a much smaller target audience that way.

It's not gaming but my cousin works in IT. He studied 8 years or something to get all his degrees but was layed off in favor for a diverse female in October. In January they asked him if he would consider getting his old job back, the women they replaced him with, according to his ex colleagues didn't know what she was doing at all but brought a lot of drama into the company. He told me it is getting common that they do diversity hiring in the field.

It's not gaming but my cousin works in IT. He studied 8 years or something to get all his degrees but was layed off in favor for a diverse female in October. In January they asked him if he would consider getting his old job back, the women they replaced him with, according to his ex colleagues didn't know what she was doing at all but brought a lot of drama into the company. He told me it is getting common that they do diversity hiring in the field.

If women did the same kind of work that men did, they wouldn't be getting fired. My own daughter got laid off From a major game dev company and she was no exception to this rule. They should have never hired her. It would have saved everyone a lot of grief if they didn't hire a bunch of women to fill these pointless bureaucrat roles that they don't need. The only reason these companies tried to hire these women is to raise their DEI score for Blackrock investors. Since the games suck so badly, they didn't sell and they had to lay off the women anyway.

Developing games needs passion, everything about the job is bad besides doing what you like to do - a HR job is something to bring food on the table, it's a cushy office job. And even though our best efforts to get women interested, no woman is as dumb as men and will go down the passion route to earn money. There is seriously nothing we can really do.
I worked in on a line in factory, most of workers were woman and I as one few guys we got all job requiring heavy lifting, for 8 hrs a day, but we had easy job according to them.

People are not only rediscovering Gender and Sex are synonyms meaning there is only two and you can't change them, they are also reinventing and rediscovering Genres it seems, or rather realizing what Genres were for.
Genres are for marking an audience group as a target and to let that group know you will be catering to those particular desires.
If I want Italian food, I'd prefer to go to a place that focuses on that, if I want Mexican food, I go to a place that focuses on that etc.
The place not to go to ever is a place that offers Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Arabic, Chinese and so on, all at the same time.

From what I have seen most companies prefer to fire their best employees because they make the other employees look bad. And the bad employees don't want to do a better job, they just want to get rid of the people who actually take pride in their work.
To give an example there is a movie that shows that kind of stuff in it. I believe the movie is called "Big". The movie is about a kid that wishes to be an adult and magically becomes one. He ends up getting a job at a toy company and is good at the job so most of his coworkers hate him.

Instead of wasting all that money on glorified HR positions and DEI consultants. The industry could've funded training programs for young women looking to get into art design, writing, and coding.
They could have. But that would have actually required work, forward thinking beyond 6 - 18 months and next financial quarter, as well as some sense of stewardship for the industry itself. Many of the people making these decisions see everything and everybody as a stepping stone, and likely don't have any practical experience or even interest in the industry or the products they're directing. If the Titanic hits an iceberg?... No worries, golden parachutes for the higher ranks in the wheelhouse.
It seems like that safe space dream world of "we have such a diverse team" is finally falling apart. I dont care whos making a game or any other product as long as thier good at it.

Then Earth might as well be Mars, but with nicer beaches. Best to let Mars be for the martians, and Earth for the earthlings: a dialogue on what works and why between them, sure, but let's not pretend that stripping the magnetosphere would be a good idea for Earth despite the benefits we might see to GDP.
