People arnt upset that Bill and Frank were gay in the show. Theyre upset that their story in the show is the complete opposite to the game. In the game Joel and Ellie meet up with Bill in his town who recently parted ways with his "Partner" Bill makes a couple comments about Tess without realizing she died recently and in the end they find Frank dead with a note saying how much he hates Bill. the whole story is to drill into Joel not to get attached because this is not a world that is kind to attached people. It also serves as a counterpoint to when Joel reunites with Tommy. Joel from the moment he started looking for Tommy was nervous about seeing him, not knowing if they were still in bad terms. But when he Meets Tommy again he finds him thriving with a wife and child on the way, and he has let go of the bad blood between them. Their connection is strong and healthy unlike Bill and Frank's

Especially when it’s not long enough to go into any more (substantial) depth than the game. The show would have to have TLOU 1 be 20 episodes or 2 seasons to have the room to gain anything new from. But it was only about 10, and they’re quickly ditching it for TLOU 2 when more people care about the original game.

In like 8 episodes we got 2 alphabet soup filler episodes in a zombie apocalypse shown 😂. Ive seen actually decent anime filler episodes get more heat...
One of the reasons actors should never, ever weigh in on any controversy concerning viewers not liking something - the actors don't watch this stuff. They're not fans of it. Some of them don't like watching themselves, others just generally don't have time/inclination to watch the show they're actually starring in. If you see what happened with Star Trek Picard, you'll see perfect examples - the stars of Star Trek: TNG... demonstrating that they don't actually have any idea what their own show was about, don't care about its lore, don't care about continuity or internal logic, don't care about the spirit of the thing. Because they don't watch it. They're actors, not sci-fi fans.
I’m done with zombie apocalypse stuff on tv when I can just go downtown and see it in person. If audiences don’t want to watch your show, they don’t need a reason.
Sorry Nick, it’s a gay story. The same way if you portray a story about someone loving a dog, it’s a dog story, not a love story. Love stories are man and woman because 95% of the population is straight and how children are created.
The fans are the route to success. The issue is that one must please the FANS, and not cater to those who admitted to not even playing the game in the first place. I'm an outsider looking in. Never played the games, haven't seen the show. I do know that the fans were promised one thing, and those promises weren't delivered on. Which is a serious issue facing a lot of media companies right now.
I say we coin a new term: Homorepulsed, or something similar. Homophobic insinuates someone is afraid of a gay person, when really we're just kind of grossed out.
The hilarious bit is that even if the gay couple were changed to a man and a woman, the episode would still be considered filler cringe nobody interested either in the source material nor the 'zombie' survivor, father daughter story in a broad sense would give a shit about. These are tertiary characters eating up an already limited run time. The main characters don't even have an developed and compelling relationship at this point (arguably it never happens in the show...) so taking the focus away from them is doubly insulting. We all know why the episode was included. Precisely BECAUSE it's a gay story and not a love story. Offerman is a hack.

Going on the meme thing. I follow a ton of Game of Thrones meme pages. And my God whenever a new season would air the first nano second of footage there were already memes. It was like people in a desert finding water after months of nothing. It was always fun to get the new batch of memes. Even when House of the Dragon came out those pages went full "Looks like memes are back on the menu boys!". So when a show doesn't have memes it really says something.
Of course. I am to blame. It is truly that simple. I didn't watch it. I am not watching anything from them. So definitely that is on me. Not their problem I have taste and standards.
You know what's insteresting about the Last of Us? How Neil Druckmann kicked the only person that was actually a talented writer so that he could for his crappy revenge storyline and then re-doing the original Last of Us in tv show format so that he could inject into the first story things that he wanted to do but couldn't at the time because there were still people saying 'No' to his dumb ideas back then.
TLOUs problem, is that we all know where its leads to. Its like if SWs was originally animated and then converted to film. We all know the shitshow that the sequel trilogy is, so regardless of how well done the OTs conversion is... it isnt going to be held in the same reverance.
It’s not about acceptance anymore it’s about shaming normalcy, attacking the family; and reducing peoples inner shame by attacking others. You know that empty feeling you get after a porn fap. People oriented towards unproductive sex lives life with that - and only that - forever.
An annoying thing about that episode besieds bing a being a usles filler is that in the first game, the 2 separated on bad terms and 1 makes for good interaction with the main characters while the other one...didn't make it, but they had to change that for the movie because gay people must be always depicted as magically better than human beings; symbols of perfection that can do no wrong.

Funny enough, I think The Walking Dead at one point many seasons ago had a gay couple in there, but their romance never overshadowed the actual events of the series. They were just there, did the things they needed to do and at some point died. Keep in mind, that was years ago and details are hard to remember.
Wait a min, I thought the show was "successful" based on their initial claims from HBO about the ratings and the high scores, so what are they complaining about?
They think they added to the overall series but in fact they wasted precious character-building time between the two main characters. The end result is I don't care about or recognize connection with the main characters at all. The main characters seem cringe and forced. Because they want to pull you in these non-essential directions to propagandize or at-best 'subvert expectations.' 6:25 Loras Tyrell and Renly Baratheon weren't in a gay romance in the books. Neither was Asha Greyjoy, in fact (quite the opposite, actually. She loved the D so much, she learned how to brew her own birth control). There was bisexual Oberyn Martell (played by Pedro Pascal in the show), Cersei's lesbian escapade with Lady Whatshername, and Daenerys with one of her Dothraki handmaidens, (maybe also a scene with the Brave Companions, but I could be misremembering it) but that's about it.
There were rumours and down right insult pointed at both i.e Margaery will stay a maid if she stays in Renly's bed, Loras being a "Knight of pansies", Jaimie snaps at Loras and says "Now sheath your bloody sword, or I'll take it from you and shove it up some place even Renly never found", but there was no POV or sex scenes of neither of them. In AOCK Renly pays more attention to what Loras is doing to Margaery even tho she's his bride. There are a LOT of references, but I'm gay and I do notice these things so...
@@Deniryer I remember the rumors about Renly (he's also described as being a bit flamboyant, at least compared to his brothers, when it came to clothing, IIRC). As for the lines about Loras, well... Knight of Pansies is a fitting insult to someone who's titled "The Knight of Flowers," as is "Ser Daisy." He was Renly's squire, so their relationship would've been close, almost fraternal, which would explain the line about the sword. Their relationship could be interpreted as suggestive (though I'd lean against it since old George hasn't exactly been subtle when it came to sexuality in other instances in a Song of Ice and Fire), but, in my opinion, it doesn't warrant making such a scandalous romance story in the show (that "Do you want me to get my brother?" line made me cringe), even if they wanted to explore it. There's a citation on the wiki "confirming" it, but it's frankly dubious at best.
@@RUclipsLovestoHideCommentsI know, I don't agree with this "expansion" and freedom that writers took in TV series, in the times there were in they would still hide, using excuses like going to pray together etc. There is also a mention that Oberyn knew about and that was only person that knew and did not mind since he was pretty much BI.

Did they try the commie town thing in the game?
@iambob6590 there is a town but you dont make it fown there, Joel runs into Tommy at the electrical dam they're working on, but no there is no mention of communism in the game as far as I remember

Never. The first one wasn't good either. Generic zombie game that took no risks with the story or gameplay. It was mid on every level.

My reaction to it was disinterest. I don't want to watch a show for a game I played 10 years ago.
@ga9I think the tv show was just a basic, hey remember TLOU? Don't you want to buy the remaster again? Which may have worked if they didn't tell 20-50% of their fans to f off. Hell writing this is reminding me of the TLOU2 Ellie merch gathering dust on the discount rack at my local store.

I do know that the fans were promised one thing, and those promises weren't delivered on.

Yep, would be more interesting and about as relevant, to watch 2 elephant skin rugs go at it.

6:25 Loras Tyrell and Renly Baratheon weren't in a gay romance in the books.
