- This is the last of my mini spacemen dioramas. This one is a spaceman in his element - in space! I am still working on improving at painting metallics and this spaceship was the perfect practice using holomatic chrome by Alclad.

OUTstanding !! The mini spacemen rock!!! lol And not a bad soldering job either!!! Yes, I'm a firm believer "variety is the spice of life" !!! Perfect timing too as Perseverance just landed on Mars !!!!!!
Another awesome idea and build. Your house must be full of dioramas and models that must give you constant enjoyment.
It’s overfull at the moment!
I think it would make an awesome night light, fantastic work thank you 😊
Complete brilliance!!
For a horrible moment I thought you were spraying in your bathroom, those little squares looked like tiles! Blame my old eyesight! That paint job on the rocket looked excellent, top job all round 🤘👌👍❤
Very clever and wonderfully done. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you! 😊
Thanks Kathy, Love the old Movies. 🐾🚂 BearCreek RR, KY.
Brilliant absolutely brilliant
Nice change of pace. Final results are awesome.
The new test rocket for Space X looks like a Flash Gordon rocket...great work...JIm
Very very cute! I love this!!!
Really cool! Love the space ship!
Hi Kathy, another fab video, I particularly like the back-lighting to create the glowing stars, stay safe, all the best from Scotland, Stephen.
Absolutely great! Great job
Cute and Love it ❤️❤
Great result Kathy!
Just superb Kathy
Fantastic work! Thanks for sharing this.
Very nice. Thank you.
I love this sooo much
Brilliant, love it 👍
The print lines with metal finish look like machined or rolled metal. Neat little project. 👍👍
I love this! This is so brilliant!
Thank you so much.
Love it.
GREAT IDEA!! I'm going to try that with a 1/2500 Enterprise from Planet of Titans I scratchbuilt. You come up with some great diorama ideas. FANTASTIC
Love it!!!
Wonderful!
Great video, thank you.
God I love your videos. 👍👍
Amazing. Congrats
looking very nice
well impressed ,,,,,thanks for great video
Well done Kathy another great project , I hope you wear a mask when you drill that MDF the dust is a hazard moreso than normal wood .
I am wearing a mask with anything that creates dust now as I do it full time.
Fun stuff.
I think it is fab that you experiment with different genres - from photo-accurate railway layouts to 'cartoon' sci-fi, like this. I'd love to see you tackle a cheap/basic tank kit one day - just to see you let rip with freehand camo and lots of weathering. There are so many photos of decomissioned / destroyed tanks in scrapyards that I'm sure you could make a small vignette along the lines of what Chuck Doan does with his agricultural stuff. In fact - that Miniart Lanz Bulldog tractor [with the all metal wheels], that we talked about a while back, would also make a great one off project of an unloved vehicle returning to nature. I can vouch for that kit, as I now have one!
I’ve built a Stryker and some more military may be in there one day.
@@KathyMillatt Flipping Nora! A Stryker..?!! I'm guessing one makes a cameo appearance in a shoot-em-up game / movie you enjoy?
PS - I have a small loco kit to build at some point.
@@paulosborne6517 I guess I did but the reason is lost in the depths of the past!
Hi Kathy, Made a nice change, am a train man myself, but enjoy the change, (with all the pictures who needs wallpaper?) All the best Brian 🤗
This is so good, Kathy! Really love this project.
Thank you so much!
Love all your build, especially your tutorial on static grass I must say you're an expert.
I think the layer lines make for an interesting look, in this case, especially with that holomatic chrome. Love it.
🚀 wonderfull 😍
What an excellent diorama, you always amaze me with your new builds.
That was lovely, thanks for sharing.
I’m a big fan of classic space ships and you did an incredible creating your diorama. I love it!
Huston, we have a problem.......it's cuteness overload, great little build Kathy, thank you, ever thought of doing a mash up of a sci fi and train set scale model?
I’d love to do a futuristic rail system. One day.
@@KathyMillatt And we would all love to watch you build it, thank you once again.
How enjoyable to have a Kathy Millatt video with my morning cuppa! And such a cute one as well. The spaceship was evocative of my childhood, and the "little" man is too cute - I'm almost sorry that this is the last project featuring our tiny buddy. But TRAIN modeling is cool too, so the future uploads won't be disappointing, I'm certain.
So many things to model, so little time!
Hi ya Kathy, being of a certain age, I love 50s spaceships. This was a fun little tutorial. Thanks. I enjoy all your builds. See ya next time.
Hello, I am a RUclipsr who produces Korean figures.
Every time I see it, I always admire it.
I'm always surprised by my good skills.
I became a big fan of yours.
I'll come back to watch good videos.
That looks great, thanks for making the video
Lovely work Kathy - Many thanks for sharing KR AndyT(UK)
looks good vid
Kathy where have I been? First I’ve seen of your Spaceman, will check my Subs and Bell. Looks amazing.
💜
Love to watch you Kathy, I also love 50s spaceships lol :) fabulous job x
Nice. Oi loiks it.
Gave me a notion to try something cool.
OK, I have successfully managed to create an STL file using a starfield photo to displace according to contrast, meaning, (in theory, I don't yet have a 3D printer to check practically, although I may well soon) it's possible to print out a sheet of resin with holes exactly matching up to each and every star with less than an hours fidgetting time.
OR
Assuming you have access to semi-translucent printing material, it ought to be possible to print a sheet with depth varying by the contrast of the image, meaning each star would be very thin, the space bits being thick, and stuff like nebulae being somewhat in between and varied based on glowiness. So, like, the degree to which a bit is light up wuld match the image over the top.
Whilst I canne go check this, yet, I'm pretty confident this' dwork pretty well. If you'd be interested in a little experiment, I have an STL and image file lying around.
Oh, also, on the off chance it didn't go without saying, I'd very much assume it'd be on the basis you might be interested, not that there'd be any kind of expectation of anything of any kind.
Sounds fascinating. What a brilliant concept!
❤ Love it! All your builds are so amazing and I always learn something new. Although I am a little sad to hear that this would be your last one of this series. 🙁 I was hoping to see one of NASA's new Mars rover. 🙂 But I am happy to watch you build anything! 🙂👍
I’ve definitely a few more sci fi themed builds coming but this guy was so cute.
Hi Kathy I’ve seen you on tv
Yes!
Watching it in 60th anniversary of Gagarin's flight🙂
Super diorama. How would you have disguised the metal rod holding the spaceship as a jet of plasma or rocket exhaust?
Hmm there's a youtuber whose name I've forgotten who does 'live' snapshots of an explosion, etc. He uses cotton wool teased out into a fine cloud, airbrushed with red/orange hues, and with flickering leds in the center. I'm almost sure I've seen steel wool used in a similar way
If the ship was moving then the umbilical would be towing the spaceman so I needed it paused in space. I have just finished something with cotton wool and do eventually have plans for an explosion...
No air in space Kathy so the umbilical would remain the same shape. Looking forward to seeing your work on an explosion.
@@graemehansell7642 But surely as the ship moved off, the spaceman would have no momentum yet so the umbilical would stretch into a straight line before starting to tow the spaceman along?
If the spaceship was already moving it, and all its contents, would have the same momentum. Moving out of the spaceship would be the same as if the ship was stationary. If the spaceship started moving whilst the spaceman was outside I believe that the entire structure (spaceship, umbilical and spaceman) would act as a single unit and move simultaneously. However, the diorama looks good whatever the physics involved.
I might (am) be dopy, but can I clarify, was it the gloss black undercoat then the metallic that gave it that iridescence, or did you use a specific iridescent metallic paint?
Definitely a black gloss. The metallics hardly show on anything else as they’re so thin.
Did you paint the star Field
It’s in the video! But it’s printed and adapted.

Going by the huge pauses in the build I'm guessing you're either in the US or UK. I can tell even with the sound muted. For some reason you both have this need to explain in depth things that are clear to the eye. In the end it was a nice piece. It's a pity you can see the print lines on the ship though.
