- This is a fully animated spaceport diorama with working cargo gantry, monorail, light up control panels, landing pad lights and flashing warning lights plus a siren when a ship is due to land. The spaceship is from a crowdfunding campaign currently running on MyMiniFactory for 2nd Dynasty. It is a Type S Scout/Courier from the Traveller RPG and is a classic design dating back to the seventies.
If you want to get a hold of the ship then check out the crowdfunding on MyMiniFactory with late pledges still open:

Nice seeing Traveller getting some love! Truly the best science fiction game out there as far as pen and paper rpgs goes.
I remember playing traveler 40 years ago as a game like dungeons and dragons we had little fugues and tiny ships most cast from led alloy and about an inch long ….this ship is great I wish we had 3D printing in the 80s
Not a single bloke in Battledress wielding a FGMP 15. Certainly not my crew LOL
@@ianrandall482 me a GM. Hey guys Stealth mission got to infiltratred the pirate ship.
That one play asleep while the npc explained the job.
Awesome work! It turned out quite nice, the flashing lights, the ramp details and moving trollies give it some life not usually seen in dioramas. Traveller fans are quite chuffed about this one, naturally! In the end it certainly makes for an impressive sci-fi display.
Incredible work Kathy! Thank you!
So many different vibes! For me, it simultaneously clicked as Aliens (and other SciFi movies and illustrations of that era) and some 80s anime like Bubblegum Crisis. Simply incredible.
What an epic result! The original Traveller 3-book boxed set was the first RPG I ever bought, and this amazing model captures the look and feel of the start of an adventure, with the player characters arriving at a new world. Top stuff!
This is a wonderful piece. The print of the ship turned out great! Bet it was a fun one to wait for. 😉
And I love all the electronic elements- that moving gantry is especially nice!
Thanks so much! The electronics were certainly challenging.
You make it look so easy but then this is a testament to a very talented model maker. The hours you must have put in to achieve this beautiful diorama is absolutely outstanding so thank you for sharing this project.
Wow what a fantastic build Kathy.! Just like everything you touch it's magical and comes to life. Definitely one of my favorites, Chris
Great looking landing pad diorama, if I had that made 30 odd years ago I'd be playing in there for hours. Superb background building, very Supermarination/Century 21. Top effort all over 👍👌🤘
This is some next level hobby, very impressive diorama.
!!!!! Traveller! I used to play that in the 80s. How fun the classic scout . Thanks Kathy!
This ship is able to be opened up as well and player traveller inside in 28mm scale
OMG Kathy, you're dioramas just keep getting better and more complex... what's next??? Another amazing build
Sell it and give me the money so I can repair the hole in the floor that my dropping jaw just made.
Simply awesome.
That is absolutely awesome. Get some more videos done like this.
Clicked on this the minute i saw a s-class scout.....have loved this game since the late 70's
I can see now why people say that Traveller influenced Elite (the 1984 video game).
Excellent work!
I have to say of all the dioramas you have made this is by far the most impressive! The amount of work, different techniques and skills resulted in a diorama that is simply incredible looking with lots of little stories in it. Thank you for sharing this work with us.
Truly incredible! I've never tried to build with LEDs or small motors but after watching I have to try! Keep up the great work.
Fantastic modelling as always 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great ideas there
Stunning work. Absolutely stunning attention to detail. Kathy, you are amazing!
You are a trooper! Great work on the ship and glad you got it printed and with the diorama :D
Amazing work! Definitely brings back memories of playing Traveller!
Wow! 🤯😮🤯😮. Been subscribed to you for awhile now and your work never ceases to amaze! The dioramas you make can be used in movie production! Wow! Great job!😁
Fantastic scene you created, watched it twice! Repurposing limit switches is a great idea for a small shelf layout animation. Great to hear your space pilots are sustainably conscientious XD. Thanks as always
The limit switches were great once I got them lined up properly. You can buy them fairly cheaply too.
This is absolutely brilliant! You're very creative and your dioramas are all well done! Just inspiring work!! 👍👍👍👍👍
This is incredible! What a lot of work this project was but my word did it come out absolutely wonderful! Fantastic job!
I'm calling you the official Martha Stewart of Sci-Fi dioramas and modeling.
Keep it up I learned a few tricks I didn't know thanks!
First video of yours I’ve watched. Excellent build! Looking forward to seeing your other videos!
WOW!!! Amazing work! Absolutely awesome!
This has to be one of my favorite videos of yours. Super well done and I love all the little details.
Thank you!
Wow Kathy, this was quite the endeavor. It turned out great! I always appreciate you talking about the trial and error when doing a project!
This thing is absolutely amazing! As someone who plays RPGs - I would love to have something like this for my Sci-Fi games! Looks like I will have to get crafting on it!
Phenomenal job Kathy, a truly inspiring piece.
Absolutely stunning!
Fascinating and so much detail! Throughly enjoyed the video! Thanks for making it!
Brava! I am consistently amazed (and amused!) by your imaginative solutions to issues and problems, solutions that only seem to enhance the finished project. The detail on this project is particularly germane to the overall effect - another Kathy Millatt triumph!
I wish i had half your modeling skills! Absolutely beautiful! Loved big mandalorian display as well.
Such a huge diorama yet still detailed to the max
Amazing job 👏
Very inspirational, I don't think I've appreciated before just how expansive your skill set is to bring these to life.
Thank you - I had to learn a bit more on arduinos for this but I do love learning new skills.
@@KathyMillatt I can tell:) On that idea, these relays work with Raspberry Pi: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057OC5O8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title? and might be a solution for higher power circuits controlled by an arduino.
@@stephenrider6107 I've used relays a few times and they are so useful. There is actually one on this diorama for the flashing lights to drop from 5V to 3.3V
Excellent work! Miniature photography is really wonderful.
When the overhead doors slid apart, and the whole ship rose on the platform, my brain screamed Blake’s 7 Scorpio opening my….
This is Outstanding Work Ma'am Well done! 👏
As a person who has played Traveller over most of the last 40 years I say to you "Well Done!"
Subscribed.
So cool to see somebody doing some Traveller stuff!
Great job, Kathy! Love the shout out to Jason Jenson too. His space port diorama is very cool too.
wow, what a project. a joy to watch :)
Industrial light and Magic could not have done any better.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
You made a lot of mistakes but your sheer dedication to move on and continue building this wonderful piece inspired me to keep pushing on with my projects even when discrepancies often came about. Gr8 work.
Absolutely amazing. Making it look effortless as usual, Kathy!
Thank you Kathy, that is one very impressive model and diorama, such a joy to watch you create.
Next time you try making carpet from LEDs, try this: ELectronics guys do prototyping with a process known as wire wrapping. You use insanly thin wite and a tool that winds it around pins that become the component leads on a prototype circuit board. You can get the wire and winder tool pretty easily from the interwebs. Poke the LEDs in, cut the leads to length, Strip / wind / strip / wind. Bob's your uncle. You may actually get away with no solder. Not sure I trust that on the thin LED leads. Parenthetically, That skinny wire goes everywhere. It handles the current from LEDs perfectly well.
Beautiful work. I could spend hours "living" in that tiny world.
Wow Kathy you really did a serious amount of work on this diorama ! it looks awesome and was well worth the time and effort you put in, amazing job my friend.
This looks amazing!! I love Titanfall franchise too :)
Traveller is a legend.
I just happened to stumble on this video and this is what I've got to say about it:
I've gotten really interested in the makers community what with 3D printing and a general love for Star Wa- I mean, Sci-Fi. That being said, this is by far one of the BEST projects I have witnessed here on RUclips and I cannot congratulate you enough on your talent, skill and hard work. This was incredible to watch from start to finish and I can't wait to go back and check out some of your previous works of art.
Truly awestruck.
Truly art!
Thank you so much!
One big word " WOW " great build!!
Thank you!
Fabulous. Just gorgeous.
I like the light workings with the sky tram. nice touch .
That's very impressive. What a great Diarama. You really do great work. The details you've put into this is just fantastic. Really enjoyed watching this. Thank you. 👍
Wow, that's a heap of work. Great stuff Kathy!
Loved it Kathy, copper tape is a great idea, will have to buy some of that I think, and the glass wash looks good also. Great stuff Andy
I wish I’d thought of the copper tape earlier!
An extraordinary model. Beyond most of us I should think.
Hi Kathy, once again amazing work well done :) your so spot on
The original prints for the Traveller RPG went to the printer about a week or two after the release of Star Wars, in 1977 (you'd have to ask Marc Miller for the exact date). I got into Trav in 1982, and never looked back -- in all the pen-n-paper sci-fi gaming that I've done since, there are few games out there that can match Trav's speed and flexibility in background design. This is an exceptional piece of work, and my hat is definitely off to you....Well done.
That is pure awesome.
This is just fantastic!
I have Star Destroyer (Svezda) and after I put it together, I just didn't know what to do next. The timing is just perfect. However, I doubt that mine will look as good as yours but I bet it will be better than just having it exposed on a shelf. Amazing work as always, thanks a lot for this video.
Whaou !!! A great diorama in DIY, thanks for the idea !
Another great build.
Love this. Fantastic build
I could almost see commander Shepard walking up the switch back ramp and later exploring the port where every once in a whole you’d see the ship out of a window. A wonderful build, thank you for all your hard work in creating it and documenting it.
I was heavily channelling Mass Effect with that ramp and most of the buildings.
Amazing!!!! I can’t believe all of the details!!!
KATHY MILLATT, IS EXCELLENT DIORAMA BUILDER I'VE SEEN IN TEN YEARS!
Awesome build
Completely unfamiliar with what you've modelled, but - cor! - that looks excellent.
Love this!!!!!
Brilliant!
I used to play Traveller as a youth, so it's so nice to see this diorama. Love the design of it, but a tip for the ship whould have been to use more washes instead, and to spraypaint it, with different tones, and use a simple card to disrupt the flow to get sharp egde tonings.. Plasmo did a great video of this when he built an Imperial Destroyer model, which is "bigger" but has the same problem with making the paneling look great...
There are so many ways to do this and the one you suggest is excellent - I was really channelling Gundam wear and tear when I started the ship but getting panelling that is all the same colour to look interesting is a dark art!
The Type S, in universe, is a venerable design, dating back literal millennia in various incarnations. It is a 100 ton craft with a 2 parsec range (considering that 90% of all civilian vessels have a 1 parsec range…), acceleration of 2g, and is outfitted with a crew of 4 in two cabins, an air/raft (hover car) in a dedicated garage, a single turret, and minimal cargo space. Several variants exist, almost all of them being retrofitted hulls released from the Imperial Scout Service. The Type S and its variants are notable for being one of the few ships that can be crewed by a single person.
And a starport looking janky and old and with things just breaking down or modified in strange ways is very Traveller. Most of the ports are just concrete slabs, a control shack or tower, and a few warehouses.
Super cool!
Excellent build. Thanks for sticking to 15mm!
Glad you like it!
Incredible
Lovely work. Seen quite a few Type S Scout figs over the decades but this is the most impressive to date. Even at half size it's not terribly practical for use in the RPG or one of the editions of the Striker minis rules, but a diehard fan of the IP would probably love it just as a display piece.
Wow! You really do fantastic work!
Excellent Kathy - many thanks.
Phenomenal spaceport diorama Kathy, this is simply fan-freakin'-tastic!! The sheer amount of details and small areas of interest, as well as the overall theme and style of this project is mind blowing. After watching this and seeing all the hard work you put in as well as the complexity of nearly every step along the way has increased my appreciation for your skill and talent immensely. 🙏🙏
I have never personally played Traveller, though I do vaguely remember hearing about it back in the 80's. So I may not have the fanboy level appreciation for this that players will have, yet I now want one of these models so badly it's on a molecular level. 😲
Awesome diorama, excellent job with the build, details and paint! Great stuff, thanks for sharing, stay safe and keep on keeping on!!
Thank you so much!
Amazing editing too
Traveller...the only game that you can die of old age in character creation.
I’ve never actually played but I hear there’s a chance your character can die before you even get to play!
Omg its really huge and beauty.
I have not heard of Traveller since I was in Jr. High school about 38 years ago. Wow.. that is awesome.
Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
love it,great work !
Excellent Job.
Great video. Thank you!!
Amazing work!!!!
One word 'Epic'
You've done a better job than anyone else that has tried printing such ships.
nice job Kathy ~ yes I did watch to the end!
Awesome
This so image to make movie your own lots amazing models! You can take many junkie left in any model box, circuit boards, and more you can find way cuts to fits assembly junkie pieces to a ship so great use the primer, colors coat, weather colors!
hi kathy ..... your awesome 💖 ........ great diorama
