    Really nice work, love the interior!
    One of my favourite spaceship-painting tricks when doing grey/metal hulls is to make a few separate greys and pick out a few panels here and there in subtly different colours to make it look like they've been replaced in repairs. Not overboard or anything, but the occasional slight colour mismatch can look great. Some panels can even have specific scratching, fading, corrosion and wear on them to make them look like they were salvaged from the wreckage of another ship, even an incomplete graphic so it looks like it doesn't belong.

    • @KathyMillatt
      @KathyMillatt  2 года назад +3

      That’s a great trick and I love the idea of a patched up ship.

    • @theladyfingers___
      @theladyfingers___ 2 года назад +1

      It's very easy to go overboard, but keep it subtle and it looks brilliant. Another tip is when weathering, to add a little silver to the forward/bow-facing edges of some panels, as thought flying through space dust wore the paint off. Also must be done very subtly.

    • @KathyMillatt

    Hi Kathy….I know what you mean about the print lines. I bought a 3d printed ‘Liberator’ (Blake’s 7), nice kit overall but the print lines are a nightmare to get a smooth finish. The only way I had any success was with a dremmel sander then using liquid putty (a lot of it) and sanding again… very time consuming and still not perfect. Normal sanding sticks or wet and dry don’t seem to touch it lol. Love your build and can’t wait to see figures added and the finished diorama.

    Hm, some of that might've benefitted from a bit more sanding (though with PLA that seems to be always the case no matter how much you do... I know the feeling there. :D ), the drybrushing really brings out the layer lines.
    I like the choice of colours, I might do mine in something similar.

    I bought this ship on the kick starter. Looking at the stl files, did you print your interior walls etc. with rafts? Some of the parts don't look like they would stay vertical for an entire print without falling over. Also how much filament did it take to print the entire project? Looks great btw.

      Brilliant. If you’re on Discord, join their server as there’s loads of great advice there. I used brims but most don’t, they use glue. I had no problem with any parts though. I don’t keep a record of filament I’m afraid as I’m printing so much all the time.
