Word! I have been natural my entire life and the struggles are real. When my mom combed me I never had any moisture issues or breakage but this whole adult thing makes me want to break down and cry sometimes. Oh and sometimes we have to take care of the insides for the outside to glow. Remember to drink your water ladies.
Yes! Water is muy important as well as making sure you're getting enough vitamins everyday. Even tho I'm vegan I'm still going to seek out a good multivitamin to take daily.
I was having this issue with my hair and figured it was due to the weather. It was because I needed to deep cleanse my hair! I did this by way of a bentonite clay mask and my wash and go is back to life 🙌
I been using aloe Vera rice water leave in and Indian hemp grease and hair last all week I use mane tail shampoo silicon mix deep conditioner have to do what works for u mom used these or orx as a child and I had long hair had to go back to the basics
If you let water run through your hair for a few extra seconds before adding the shampoo you will use less shampoo and your hair will become cleaner faster
Just like you were saying I've been natural for years now but I still haven't found a combination of products that keeps my hair moisturized for more than a day or two. Being a broke college student doesn't help because I can't just keep buying new products
IMO products that contain silicone have a rebound effect. They make your hair look moisturized and defined after washing but within a few days it dries out your hair which makes you have to wash it again.
I have 3c to 4b hair. Been natural for about 4 years. i do the L.O.C.G method Water (Liquid) - Shea Butter (Oil) - Camille rose naturals butter (Cream) - Eco styler Black castor oil (Gel) i either twirl my hair stands into coils around my finger after applying all the products or i two strand twist my hair . If i see any Flakes from Gel.....simply put a little bit of light oil (Example: Almond oil) and apply that on any flakes then they magically disappear . i wash my hair every 2 weeks and shampoo about once a month or if its seems really dirty then i ALWAYS DEEP CONDITION using Aussie moist 5 min miracle mixed with aloe vera gel plus any bit of oil around my house like almond, olive, sunflower seed, grape seed, melted shea butter, etc or any left over conditioners i have. i leave that in for about 2 hours or so (sometimes longer) then rinse out ......continue right back to the LOCG method . Usually i dont have to moisturize my hair along the way more then once a week with a light oil and the curls stay much longer .
Oohh I have a tip..when it's time to rinse your conditioner out, use cold water because it closes your hair shaft after being opened from the warm water you used earlier. That in turn makes your shaft smoother and therefore more shiny.
In the UK there is not that much awareness in the black community about how to look after their hair properly. I would love it if they had hair shows over here .
I was just dealing with this, this morning. I did a protein treatment yesterday and applied LCO, satin scarf and pillowcase; still dry. I was really pissed until you started talking about coconut oil and butter, now I'm hungry for an omelette. I shall go make eggs, spritz with some water, and seal with some shea butter. Thanks!
Thank you for the video. This helps as well during winter time. Thank you for taking the time to do this. Your videos are always very informative. Do you believe that everyone's hair grows up to a certain length? maybe genetic or hair care related. I am fully natural, as soon as my hair reached mid back, it seems as if it is not growing anymore. I still keep the same routines, switch up products as needed. I would like to reach waist length or hip length one day lol that would be great
Vanessa Allen I know your question wasn’t directed towards me, but I once heard your hair has a phase where it grows and then it stops growing and in the stopped phase is when most people either see a retention in length or they experience breakage.
How long the growth phase lasts varies by person. To maximize length you have to focus on length retention. Moisture retention is a big part of that, as well as trimming when needed.
It's hard to say. It can either be the fact that your hair has reached it's longest length due to genetics or it is breaking off so fast that you can no longer see growth. If you don't think it's due to care then your hair may have just reached it's longest length but there are some people that get stuck at a certain length for a long time and it starts to grow again. Just continue to care for it and you should see in time. Good luck!
Hi Chime! Thanks for another informative video. Learning your hair is a process. Also thanks for making my day. I can't wait to see you at the hair show in April!! I was not expecting that announcement. #excited 😊
jewjew tayloraybe try the search And destroy method and then baby your ends by putting oil on them and also try keeping hair in twist when applying the oil. That's what I do for my ends and they have been softer. Their is a Black woman named cipriani and she oils her ends extra and her length is on FLEEK....Good luck
I need to always make sure that I’m rinsing shampoo out of my hair thoroughly. I use oils & butters for my low to normal porosity hair. I’m still practicing product application on my hair which I know I’ll master soon, but I really need to master it when doing styles such as twists & braids. I’ve been using the LCO method since late May 2013 which my hair loves. I always DC, but I must be careful when finger detangling it through since I tend to deal with excessive breakage all the time. I have been natural since July 2008, but didn’t start learning my hair until I had to do a big chop on 5/10/2013 as a result of heat damage, and am still learning it. I have retained much length despite my struggles though.
Hi Chime💗 Thanks for this helpful video. I have a problem with shedding. I use oils and creams but still shed. What should I do? Also, does scalp messagers really work?
Yes I love scalp massagers. They're great for stimulating growth. It's okay if your hair is shedding naturally. We lose strands naturally everyday. If it is breaking off then there is likely a moisture or health issue. Make sure you're drinking enough water and getting enough vitamins. If you are using a cream then you may want to try a liquid based moisturizer or add it to the products you are currently using so you can try out the LOC method. It really is one of the best ways to moisturize your hair.
Hey Chime, very informative video. I'm High Porosity very dry and frizzy even after deep conditioning, can't seem to hold the moisture in, any tips??? Btw, your hair look great girl!!!
Love Ur channel. I'm in the process of growing out my color becuz I thing that's 1 of the reasons why my hair stays so dry. Also ive had losts of shading & breakage near the ends of my hair. Living in this dry Arizona climate doesn't help things either. I have 3 different textures: 3B 3C&4A. Is there any moisturizers that u can recommend?
Lon Monique make sure ur moisturizer s first ingredient is water. If it s not, then it s not a moisturizer. Try lightly spritzing ur hair with mineral water before applying ur products too
Lon Monique sounds like you have low porosity hair, definitely look up some low porosity videos then make your own regime.. Also a steamer may Love your hair.
I find that black hair care products are really expensive considering most of them run out so quickly and I have to buy new ones. Do you know of any products that are on the cheaper side ?
Could doing it everyday actually be drying? Like our hair becomes addicted to the products hence always feeling like it needs moisture...? I have this problem so that's something I wonder about.
PLEASE HELP: 🙏🏾 All 3 of my princesses have curly hair that is THICK. The oldest has a loose soft curl. The middle has a tight curl. The youngest has a softer curl that is more defined. I have thick strong hair. Our hair is VERY DRY especially my middle princess and myself. It is tough trying to do hair that is thick, dry and long. Not to mention the task trying to part hair that is curly is a whole other story. I go months without out washing my own hair because it’s too much doing my 3 princesses hair. I figured as long as their hair is done my hair is not a big deal. F.y.i. We are all tender headed. 😂 The struggle is real. Any tips helpful tips will Greatly Appreciated
Oooouuuu Girl!! I feel for you! I will send many prayers up for ya! lol When detangling, I would always sit some conditioner on the hair for 15-30 minutes to allow the hair to get soft. It will make it easier for the hair to glide through the comb. Also detangle directly under running water with conditioner still in the hair. Reapply conditioner when needed. Make sure you fully detangle the hair UNDER the water so there is no need to do so once you're finished washing. To moisturize apply a water based moisturizer first and for the driest hair types utilize the LCO method. Liquid, cream then oil. Apply a lot to the ends since that's the oldest part of the hair. Don't be afraid to drench the hair in product. I would set it in a protective style that can last a week to weeks lol My mom used to put our hair in plaited braids all over. Taking them to a professional braider may be the easiest on you. You could wash it yourself then pay someone to do a cute corn rowed style that will last for weeks. This will prevent you from having to do daily maintenance and also keep the hair stretched and detangled. I hope this helps!!
Chime (HairCrush) OMG YOU REPLIED🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Thank you so much!!!! Yes please pray for me because we are all in tears when it’s hair wash day over here. I will do Exactly what you suggested. The detangling under the running water is genius! I cannot wait to try the L.C.O. method. I just made all 3 princesses a appointment to get their hair braided for tomorrow. On my way to buy more conditioner too. Thank you sooooo much. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 I truly appreciate it. 💝 I will update you on our new hair regimen. Thank you.
Girl you will be less stressed about your hair's health once you go ahead and do it. Most people say they are relieved once they do and realize it wasn't as big of a deal as they made it out to be. Cutting off the damage is the first step in the right direction but you can also snip it off gradually if you choose to and do set curly styles (flex rods, curl formers, pin curls, etc.) to cover it up until you're comfortable enough to cut it.
Clarifying shampoo has changed my hair ! I figured that the silicones in my products weren’t letting moisture get in. I started clarifying and my curls are actually popping.
The fact that she never mentioned porosity makes me question her knowledge... I deep conditioned my hair yesterday and it’s dry today but it’s nothing she’s saying it’s because If you use an oil that’s too thick on LOW POROSITY hair like mine it won’t be able to absorb all of it so it will just sit on top and dry out !
asia_isalive I had that problem too. I use diluted Apple cider vinegar on my scalp when washing and once finished I apply sulfur 8 grease. When I 1st when natural...using sulfate free shampoo had my scalp on fire. Had 2 switch back

squidward poppin in the intro caught me off guard lol
Haaaaa!
lack of protein can also make your hair feel dry
Very true!
Chime for the win!!!! I love the magic you are doing with the typography!!!
haha Thanks friend!
I was having this issue with my hair and figured it was due to the weather. It was because I needed to deep cleanse my hair! I did this by way of a bentonite clay mask and my wash and go is back to life 🙌
How does new Chime look younger than old Chime??? 🤔
Do I?! Thaaaanks!!
Hairs Roxy maybe it's her skin care regime?
Hairs Roxy she’s aging backwards lol
i found that diet plays major role aswell.
when i haven't eaten a decent amount of healthy fats, it will show up in the softness(?) of my hair
Absolutely!
I been using aloe Vera rice water leave in and Indian hemp grease and hair last all week I use mane tail shampoo silicon mix deep conditioner have to do what works for u mom used these or orx as a child and I had long hair had to go back to the basics
Water firssttttt! That’s he only way you’re going to get moisture, WATER FIRST! Your hair is def gonna be dry if you’re only applying sealing products
Kaila Powell.. Water shrinks my hair and the products applied just sits on top and makes my hair brittle and flaky 🙄
Cantelope Jenkins same problem

I have low porosity hair. After I moisturize and seal, I baggy for 30 mins and let the products really sink in and then style.
I love how you got to the point and still gave much information.
Thanks for this video! ❤️ I needed to hear what you said in the end because the struggle is real!
I have 3c to 4b hair. Been natural for about 4 years.

Who hurt the 8 people that disliked this video? This was very informational and helpful! New subbie 💖
You are GORGEOUS and your hair is goals!!! This video was GREAT! The editing was bomb!! Loved it!!!
Can you do a video on how to rid frizzy hair? I'm still trying to figure out some things so thanks for the moisturizing tips
Caramel Mocha Aloe vera juice

For some reason shea butter works on my fine hair in winter months
Yaaaaaas to the intro
I'm going to try the clarify shampoo, Thanks
rawcrave Yeah me too. I don’t think I’ve ever used clarifying shampoo; I always look for a moisturizing shampoo.
I've been wearing my hair natural and heat free for 2 months now. I'm trying to build a regimen that works for my type 4 hair.
welcome back... thanks for sharing!!!
I needed this video so much thank you 😊
The intro super lit
Thank you so much I'm experiencing the same problem and you really helped me. I appreciate it 🙏
Thanks new subbie ..i needed this! Clarifying is what I'm missing

When my hair feels like that.. it's protien.
Marianne Macharia I know her. She's sensitive to protein. Idky
Glad you’re back! I’ve missed your videos! 💙 What program/software do you use to edit?
Great information..Thanks for sharing.
Love the video intro. I've been waiting on a video like this😃

Vee-Vee P shea moisture jamaican black castor oil leave in
I feel like my moisturizer just sits on my hair, even if I don’t put too much, my hair feels oily but my hair feels dry if that makes any sense
Lon Monique your products aren't absorbing into your hair strands. Try steaming first or change the order that you apply the products
Maybe applying heat is what you need

What if applying water makes the hair hard and brittle??? 😶 my problem right now 🙄
I find that black hair care products are really expensive considering most of them run out so quickly and I have to buy new ones. Do you know of any products that are on the cheaper side ?
mariama diallo A lot of naturals use the Aussie brand or Tressemé. Both are on the more affordable end.
Look up cheaper hair care routine on here you'll find some options
ORS .
Garnier Frutis
Aunt jackies is really underrated but it’s super cheap and is really great
So what kind of butter should we use? because that has been my problem i mostirize my hair with castor oil and water but it dry so faster....
Hi Chime!! Yeah I’m one of those that hair be dry Not all the time but my hair is dry and I do use a clarifying shampoo and I always DC.
Yea it can definitely be a struggle figuring out where you're going wrong but you will eventually:) Just don't give up!
I love your necklaces. Where did you get them?
"Your hair should be able to stay hydrated all day long after you use a certain product" it should??
I thought I was keeping my hair moisturized but I'm still experiencing breakage. Do I need to moisturize daily?
Yes start doing that. That is most likely your issue. I have to moisturize daily.
Could doing it everyday actually be drying? Like our hair becomes addicted to the products hence always feeling like it needs moisture...? I have this problem so that's something I wonder about.

I don’t have a cream :(
ILY XXXXXX
I get dandruff and nothing helps
Have you tried hot oil treatments?
Chime (HairCrush)
No
Try adding a small amount of tea tre oil to your shampoo as well
Ayurvedic herb teas or oils placed on your scalp with a thin penetrating oil will probably do the trick
asia_isalive I had that problem too. I use diluted Apple cider vinegar on my scalp when washing and once finished I apply sulfur 8 grease. When I 1st when natural...using sulfate free shampoo had my scalp on fire. Had 2 switch back
Why you don't post like that 😢
I overthink shit lol Imma do betta!
