What's your current regimen? Oh and come back for a quick hair tip vid on Wednesday! WATCH: Understanding Hair Growth & Damage for Long Healthy Hair ruclips.net/video/b3zzXi01D3Q/видео.html
There is so much information you should know. You should watch my previous video here ruclips.net/video/b3zzXi01D3Q/видео.html and watch the videos I'll be posting in the coming weeks. It has all the information you need know to grow your hair long and healthy:)
Chime, Thank you so much for this video! It was right on time for me because I've always struggled with perfecting my hair regimen even after being natural for over 3 years now lol! I've considered big chopping a second time because my texture has changed throughout the years due to over coloring my hair and being lazy with covering my hair with a satin scarf/bonnet at night. I'm in the process of trying to nurse my hair back to health! thanks again!
I went from basic to recessive to healthy. I've rededicated myself to my hair and taking care of it. Around this time last year is when I reallyyy started neglecting it, I really think it was a reflection of how I really felt.
Girl you said a mouthful there. Yea I think sometimes we neglect our hair based upon what's going on in our lives and sometimes our emotions. If we are taking care of our bodies and hair we are usually on track in most aspects of our lives too. So glad you're back on track friend!
Chime (HairCrush) thanks girl! You're actually one of the first youtubers I watched back in 2012, when I was first deciding to transition. It's crazy how far everyone has come now with their hair and life! Love and blessings🙏🏽♥️
I just wanna say Thank You for breaking the system down for a sistah...these last two videos I really needed to see...I'm a beginner so this really relieves the stress and headaches that I go thru with my natural hair.....Now I know that REGIMEN is key!
Thank you for the tips! I'm transitioning, 8 months post at the moment. I deep condition every week. I blow dry with low heat after washing which allows me to work w/my hair until next wash day. I actually use oil only after washing for moisturizing, seems to work best for me
Thanks for these tips.. I wash my hair every 2 weeks, I was washing my hair every week but noticed my hair doesn't like that so had to change up my regimen basically what worked for me before😄. Your hair and makeup looks flawless 👏🏾👏🏾 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Thank you Chime you're so good at breaking it down for us. Thank you for doing all the research you do to spread the knowledge to us! Retaining moisture is my biggest issue. I stopped using oils it seemed to make my hair dryer. I am doing a trial with aloe Vera juice to seal in moisture after applying my leave in and moisturizer! Then I apply my gel! I've done it for two wash n go's so far! Fingers crossed! Love your protective hair styles you're doing!
Very Helpful information, your videos are very well thought out and researched and I really appreciate that. The LCO works better for my hair. I will be 2years fully natural on the 30th of this month and I'm really enjoying my hair. My hair has always been dry even when I was relaxed so It has doubled since I did my chop. Heavier butters and creams work the best in my hair this far and helps keep my hair the most moisturized.
Love this hairstyle, saw it on your Instagram page last week, and liked it! Very informative, and you learn something new everyday. Chime, help me please!! I knew about the information involved in these regimens, but did know about the names of the regimens. My current regimen consists of me having wash day every two weeks since my 3c fine stranded hair is usually flat twisted or cornrow braided with my own hair for the first 2 days, and can go up to 3 or 4 days before unraveling those styles on the 3rd or 4th days. I usually have my hair out in a flat twist out or a cornrow braid out for 8 or 9 days, and then my hair starts losing moisture about 3 days before the next wash day. Wash day consist of pre pooing the night before wash day, and having wash day the following day. I shampoo my scalp & hair once in twists with a CG friendly clarifying shampoo while focusing on my scalp, rinse with warm water, shampoo with a CG friendly moisturizing shampoo once focusing on my scalp, rinse with warm water, dry my hair with a t-shirt, apply a CG friendly deep conditioner on damp hair while finger detangling and twisting, go under the dryer for 15 minutes with a plastic processing cap, rinse the deep conditioner out, style with CG friendly products using a leave in & a moisturizer & mousse, seal my damp ends with JBCO, dry my flat twists or cornrow braids under a hooded dryer, sleep every night with a silk scarf on my head and sleep on a silk pillowcase, and take down my style on the weekend with oil. I have always done this to my hair, and retained length, so I'm sure I need to be mindful of how I handle my hair when wet or damp as well as getting trims twice a year in a natural hair salon like I usually do. Since March, I have had to trim less than an inch of my hair 3 or 4 times, but my hair has retained length since then, because my hair is currently less than an inch from bra strap length when I stretch it in its natural state. I hope to go for a trim in a natural hair salon next month since I haven't had my hair trimmed in one since August 2015.
I am a natural who BC 10" of damaged ends yesterday (I was holding on to that length y'all 😭😄). This video will help me regrow my hair to its healthiest state. thx Chime!!!
lol Thanks. That's sweet! I don't know if I'm going to write one but you should definitely check out The Science of Black Hair: A Comprehensive Guide to Textured Hair Care by Audrey Davis-Sivasothy. This is where all of this information came from:)
This is a nice way to some it up; I definitely don't really think too much about what I'm doing and what works the BEST for my hair. And you are so educational and gorgeous!!!
by far the best hair video that really hits on levels of hair regimen we can find ourselves in... Going to the gym and swimming, 3 days a week is totally changed my haircare regimen, where I am cleansing more and sticking to low manipulation hair styles... also can you mention what eyecolor shadows and lipcolor you are wearing?.. love it!!
For a future video, can you touch on how you can tell whether a product has protein in it or not. Usually naturals know which products they can use for moisture and for protein purposes, but idk how to tell the difference other than searching online. Are there certain ingredients that you look for?
Wot a Great video Thanku for sharin ... Really informative an educacional ... I,m a Locd natural but I knw healthy hair is Lovin yr hair an I wanna c MORE Women take care of their hair Happy Healthy Hair Journey
First time viewer. Very informative video and you made it so much fun to watch. I would say the only thing missing was about hair porosity. Will definitely be subscribing to your channel and I look forward to more of your videos.
So my current regimen is washing and conditioning twice a week and doing a deep condition treatment with each wash, one wash is moisture the next protein treatment. Then I'll either put my hair in braids or i'll do corn rows for the entire week and sleep with a satin scarf. Of course before I style my hair I do the LCO method with coconut oil, and that's about it, I don't put any heat in my hair unless its to blow dry it when I wash it because I do this in the night and as a nursing student working and school I don't have time to wait till my hair is dry. and I had big chopped in April with a boy cut and I've seen some major growth. most of my information on transitioning was from you actually and I wanted long healthy hair. I only had a relaxer for like four years cuz i didn't know how to deal with my hair especially the detangling Ugh that was a nightmare and some of your videos as well as others have helped me and now I love my hair, I love my texture.
I haven’t had any adverse reactions. I use argan life sham poo for hair growth daily. I really like it and do see a diffe rence. I’ve used argan life argan oil and sham poo its a really good brand. It’s better than others i’ve tried.
Chime (HairCrush) Wow! I woulda never guessed! You took mac to a whole 'nother level!! You wear it so well!! I thought it was some exclusive lol. Thanks for the reply! :-))
These videos are so informative! Can you touch on I guess the logistics of moisturizing daily while low manipulation/protective styling simultaneously? I try to keep a style in for a few days at least but it would get messed up trying to moisturize daily leading to manipulating/styling daily as well.
Just stumbled across this video, and you are absolutely amazing! May I ask what kind of lipgloss/lipstick you're wearing? It's such a beautiful color that compliments your skin tone wonderfully. I have literally been looking EVERYWHERE for a similar shade, but I haven't had much luck! P.S. - LOVE the video. :-)
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it😊 Make sure you check out the first one, "Understanding Hair Groeth & Damage for Healthy Hair": ruclips.net/video/b3zzXi01D3Q/видео.html
I definitely needed tips on moisture. My hair is hip length and I just lost the patience to care for it for the past year. As a result, my hair has been VERY tangly. I rarely wear it out and thought to cut off about 1/2 of the length thinking it was damaged. I have no chemicals (8 years now) and seldom use heat. I knew it wasn't damage. Just 3 weeks of consistent washing and conditioning has made such a difference. I'd like to know how to get as much moisture as possible.
Yes with consistent care you will definitely see a big difference in your hair quickly. I think utilizing the LOC method immediately after washing is the best way. Also daily moisturizing and deep conditioning consistently. Choosing the right products are also important which is what I will cover in my next video.
To be quite honest, I have a hard time trying to differ between a cream and a liquid when it comes to the LOC/LCO method. I was told that the "liquid" portion is a moisturizer that has water as one of the first two ingredients..or just water (which isn't enough for my hair), but when I look at products to fulfill the "cream" portion, a lot of them that are labeled as creams also have water listed as one of the first two ingredients, so I am not sure if it qualifies as "cream". Lately I've been using Shea Moisture Moisturizing Conditioner, which can also be used as a leave-in, as the liquid (though it is pretty thick) and my homemade Shea Butter as the cream. IDK if that is right, but that's what I have been using. If anyone has suggestion as to what I should use and/or can help me better understand the difference between the liquid portion and cream portion of the LCO/LOC method, it would be appreciated. I have low porosity 4b/4c hair that does not like coconut oil.
Many creams have water as the first ingredient which basically means it is an excellent moisturizer too. Many people do it different but if it's a cream I use it as the "C" in the LOC method. I don't use it as a liquid. I like to use spray moisturizers or a light moisturizer (snot like consistency or runny) as the liquid or "L" in the LOC method. Aloe vera juice would be included as well. Giovanni's leave-in conditioner is another example of a moisturizer I would use for "L". If the consistency is cream like, I use it in a the C in the LOC method. And any butter and oil (coconut, olive, shea butter, etc.) I use as the O in the LOC method. It's the last step and butter and oils are meant to seal the moisturizers in. I hope this helps:)
I'm currently trying to handle my natural hair it's been natural for 2 years but it's so thick I can't put it in a bobble with ought using heat. Natural hair is still quite new to me because it has been relaxed all my life
Great video! Quick question -- should I dye or rinse my hair black since the bleach from dying it blonde has severely damaged It? Or continue cutting it as the blonde grows out?
It all depends on the quality of the hair (has it been bleached a lot, dyed a lot or just once). I've definitely done both. I grew it out that one time because it had been chemically treated a lot.
Yea if it's already damaged from color I would leave it alone. Adding more color will make it worse. Just gradually trim it away. I hear some women do that and they don't see a major difference in their level of damage after doing so but like amixeblu said it depends on just how damaged your hair is. Bleach usually does the most damage so be careful. Take your time and weigh the best option for your hairs health
Thank you for this video. I've been really trying to grow my hair past the neck length area and it's been there for the longest 😳. I don't know what I'm doing wrong with my regimen. I'm doing everything that I'm supposed to be doing yet I don't see any growth at all. I don't like this length either. I'm going to be switching up my routine to see if that would help. Once again thank you for this video. I really appreciate it.
Chime! Thanks so much for this video. Right now I believe I'm in the recessive state because it's so hard and stressful taking car of your hair and body in college. I'm trying to do better, it's just a matter of consistency. I do always struggle with one thing though. How do you moisturizer daily if your hair is out in a style without messing it up?? Thanks so much! Such an inspiration
You should reset it at night. So if you did a twist out, re-do them at night and use a moisturizer and oil. If you did a style using rollers, you can reset them and hold the curl by bobby pining them. Use a little moisture and oil before you pin them and it will preserve the style. It will look fresh each day. If using a moisturizer will ruin the style completely you can add a penetrating oil like coconut oil.
I had a great regimen going until I got protein overload from trying one product and I've had to cut so much hair off every wash day is hell none of my products work on my hair anymore. I'm protective styling with braids starting friday and praying for better days :(
You just have to watch how your hair reacts. As for as a moisturizer you usually can tell within a day or so. With a deep conditioner or conditioner some women have to wait 2 weeks to a month to see if their hair is really benefiting from using it and it's actually stopping breakage. Often times you can tell before then...if my hair just doesn't like a conditioner I can usually tell after the first use. If your hair doesn't feel moisturized or isn't styling properly after using any particular product, you should can it. It's not going to yield the positive results you want if your hair isn't being properly moisturized.
Quick question: What about people who live in very dry environments. There is like zero humidity in my state and retaining moisture is the worse!! I moisturize daily, but my hair still feels dry. Do you have any tips??
I've definitely learned a lot and still continue to! I might try detangling with the running water but my curly hair is not long enough in my opinion which is so annoying ugh
It might be easier in the shower but yea it probably will be a little more difficult. Yes, keep learning and trying new things. You'll be surprised at what works for you.
My hair was beautifully moisturized when I used to deep condition overnight, but my scalp HATED it. It wasn't that my scalp was dry, but it had too much moisture I'm guessing? if that makes any sense. But basically I had a reaction where my scalp started producing huge flakes and scales and would itch to high heaven, HAD TO STOP.
You should try applying oil to your scalp when you deep condition overnight. This may solve your problem. Product resting on your scalp over night can cause severe dryness. Try to mostly apply the product to your hair and avoid the scalp area.
I saw your thumbnail..your beautiful hair and face..and then I saw your beautiful white teeth.true story I had to stop the video for a minute to go whiten my teeth .Lol. Beautiful Goddess I had to subscribe you are stunning and very inspiring . much respect to you :-)
Great video Chime. You said in a previous video (titled 'Natural wash routine to stimulate hair growth') that you deep condition your hair before washing. Have you changed your regime now?!
I now mostly deep condition it afterwards. I used to deep condition my hair before to make my hair super soft and easy to detangle. I only had a little new growth then. Now that my hair has grown out more and it's mostly my natural texture again it's not a tough to detangle. Usually it's the other way around but it's working. Sometimes you have to switch things up when you find another technique is more beneficial.
Hi! I have a question. In the shower my curls are really defined and nice. Then when I get out the shower I use a comb and do the LCO method with a defining cream as the C. My curls immediately frizz and are gone how can I retain definition.
Rinsing with cool water helps wth frizz. Putting the cream product in the fridge then applying it may be a better option. Also sealing with a butter can help frizz stay at bay. Hope that helps.
I deep condition overnight too. 5 to 15 min isn't for afro texture in my opinion.
your teeth are gorgeous. I couldn't stop looking at them.
Awww thanks man!
Chime (HairCrush) I agree. What do you do and/or use for your oral regimen?

Great video! Quick question -- should I dye or rinse my hair black since the bleach from dying it blonde has severely damaged It? Or continue cutting it as the blonde grows out?
It all depends on the quality of the hair (has it been bleached a lot, dyed a lot or just once). I've definitely done both. I grew it out that one time because it had been chemically treated a lot.
Wow! Thanks so much!
Thanks so much! I love my blonde and I've cut majority of the straight ends so I'll keep it until it grows out.
Thank you for breaking it down like this!
Your 'old' hair is coming back!
I love your videos Chime!
Excellent breakdown....ur hair looks GREAT!!!!☆☆☆♡♡♡
Helpful ,love it .
if you have fine hair 15mins is the max for deep conditioning at least for me.
This was sooooo informative and helpful!!! Thank you!
A very informative video Chime, I loved it❤ 😆
Thank you for this video.
You're welcome. Definitely keep pushing forward. Eventually you will find the problem if you're actively looking. Good luck friend!
I really can't thank you enough
I learn so much from you !!
Ugh, I just love you so much😍
Great video, as per usual..
Thanks Krystin!
Extremely helpful! Thanks!
I had a great regimen going until I got protein overload from trying one product and I've had to cut so much hair off every wash day is hell none of my products work on my hair anymore. I'm protective styling with braids starting friday and praying for better days :(
Your hair is absolutely beautiful! My question is how long should you use a product before you know if it's working for you or not working for you?
You just have to watch how your hair reacts. As for as a moisturizer you usually can tell within a day or so. With a deep conditioner or conditioner some women have to wait 2 weeks to a month to see if their hair is really benefiting from using it and it's actually stopping breakage. Often times you can tell before then...if my hair just doesn't like a conditioner I can usually tell after the first use. If your hair doesn't feel moisturized or isn't styling properly after using any particular product, you should can it. It's not going to yield the positive results you want if your hair isn't being properly moisturized.
Keeping it real always✨
Loved the video, umm what blush are you wearing because it is popping!!
Thank ya! It's Raizin from MAC.
pretty hair, pretty make-up, pretty girl!
Quick question: What about people who live in very dry environments. There is like zero humidity in my state and retaining moisture is the worse!! I moisturize daily, but my hair still feels dry. Do you have any tips??
Try using a humectant eg. mixing vegetable glycerine (1 third) and water (2 thirds), and spraying it on your hair.
I've definitely learned a lot and still continue to! I might try detangling with the running water but my curly hair is not long enough in my opinion which is so annoying ugh
It might be easier in the shower but yea it probably will be a little more difficult. Yes, keep learning and trying new things. You'll be surprised at what works for you.
actually tried it a few days ago and it was pretty easy!
Very informative and your makeup is beautiful!
Very informative, thank you very much!
Beautiful Goddess I had to subscribe you are stunning and very inspiring . much respect to you :-)
SOOO PRETTY CHIME!!!! :)
I like to use EcoStyler as a styler. Do you think that EcoStyler can thin out the hair. Thank you.
You look so pretty! Love this hairstyle!
Thanks Keia!
Thank You for sharing!
Very informative. Thank you.
So gorg!! 😘❤️
Perfect teeth girl!!
I love your top. Is it a sweater?
My hair is so short and I'm so afraid of loosing definition when styling, detangling, and applying products. Any tips?
Great video Chime. You said in a previous video (titled 'Natural wash routine to stimulate hair growth') that you deep condition your hair before washing. Have you changed your regime now?!
I now mostly deep condition it afterwards. I used to deep condition my hair before to make my hair super soft and easy to detangle. I only had a little new growth then. Now that my hair has grown out more and it's mostly my natural texture again it's not a tough to detangle. Usually it's the other way around but it's working. Sometimes you have to switch things up when you find another technique is more beneficial.
OK thanks for replying Chime. Loving your hair. It's so beautiful!
How often do you deep condition over night. Thanks for sharing sis! Blessings
I did it every week when I grew my hair waist length. Now I fit it in whenever I can. I think I need to get back to that lol
Great video!!
Can you make a video about using too much products with protein. Cause I think that's my problem. I never thought about that.
Yes that will be covered in my next video about products.
Hey beauty ❤️❤️❤️ok ur teeth are perfect! What are your secrets😊
I had braces lol I haven't worn my retainer for a while and my teeth have shifted a little so I really appreciate the compliment!
Chime (HairCrush) you're so beautiful!!!! I have braces now & caught myself just staring at your teeth. So pretty and white!!!
Thanks Monae! All the food getting stuck in your braces and the pain from tightening will definitely be worth it in the end lol
Omg your smile is beautiful ❤️ thanks for all the info 💋
Thank you lovely!!
So informative.
