- The head of one of Haiti's most powerful gangs, and the de-facto head of a consortium of gangs that have brought Port-au-Prince to a standstill has told Sky News chief correspondent Stuart Ramsay he would consider a ceasefire and talks on the political future of the country if they were included.
Today at 2pm, Sky's Yalda Hakim presents a special programme looking at the Haiti gangs and the current situation in the country.

If Haiti is truly independent, let the people of Haiti decide their fate.
They now have the opportunity to pick leaders from the many warring gang members!

Where will they get money from to rebuild the damage?! Who will feel safe enough to go there to help with medical care and other necessary assistance?!

Just as a history lesson, the first democratically elected President post the Papa Doc/Baby Doc dictatorship Jean Bertrand Aristide was ousted in a coup in 1992 by the Haitian Military. Once Aristide was put back in power the first thing he did was disband the military due to the lack of trust. Funny enough the once popular Aristide was once again ousted in the 2000s by the people when he showed dictatorship tendencies.
The Haiti was re-formed in 2017 but is poorly funded and the US won’t sell them weapons or equipment.
