      Gangs come handy for Politicians and the wealthy families of Haiti: to control the market, putting pressure on the government, attack dissidents, create chaos, to keep Foreign Investors at bay, and win elections. Welcome to Haiti. Oops, they help foreign powers swing elections too.

      Only that Mrs. Palki has "forgotten" some important things. 1. that the first black ruler Jean-Jacques Dessalines immediately proclaimed the empire of Haiti and by no means had equality for all in mind. 2. that there were numerous massacres of the white population during and after the revolution. 3. that there was a civil war between blacks and mulattos. 4. the USA occupied the country in 1915 because there were more than a dozen governments in Haiti between 1883 and 1915. The country was constantly torn apart by riots, killings and unrest. Most recently, on July the 28th, 1915, President Jean Vilbrun Guillaume Sam was lynched by a crowd of people.

    It's true that Haiti has suffered at the hands of external powers. But at some point, they're going to have to take some responsibility for the current state of their country. There must come a time when they have to decide that enough is enough and do what needs to be done to retake their country from gangs and parasitic politicians and their oligarch backers.

    • @Kijaanamkaun
      @Kijaanamkaun 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@78vette11These things take time but should begin, even the tiniest steps can change the entire course.
      I noticed many Haitians are commenting here, which means they have internet access. They can start creating awareness using videos on RUclips or whatever video app they use. Along with this, they can start educating children because they're the future after all, and connect to teachers.
      They must better know how they can reach their people and convey such messages.
      Remember hate will only destroy, learning from the past is the only key.

    Not Toussaint Louverture
    The father of our liberation is Jean Jacques DESSALINES

    • @jkensainril4811
      @jkensainril4811 9 месяцев назад +13

      Toussaint Louverture was the initiator of the independence. When he was arrested by the french and put in prison at Le fort do Joux where he eventually died; the revoultion continued. He united Dessalines, Petion, Henry Christophe to fight against the french for one cause ( slave freedom) before he was arrested.

    Please add that when Haiti got its freedom they didn’t NEED US help. The US joined all the powers of the time to give Haiti an embargo. No country was allowed to trade with Haiti unless Haiti agreed to pay French a debt and stop fighting colonizers.
    Haitians, once freed, fought the Spanish on the other side and freed Dominican Republic. They also housed and trained Simon Bolivar when he wanted to free Latin America. Haiti gave Bolivar soldiers and guns to free Latin America with 1 thing in return. Free all slaves everywhere they are victorious. Latin America got rid of the Europeans but didn’t want to free slaves.
    The US hated the Haitians because Haiti had a law that paid any sailor that bring anyone black from any part of the world where there’s slavery to Haiti. Haiti was the land where everyone is free no matter your skin color. When the civil war happened… go to Savannah Georgia to get that part of history. I’m

      I assume by that you mean Haiti , the first official / successful slave revolt? The overthrow of Apartheid in South Africa? Should I go further? Thanklessly contributing to the success of two world wars which they didn’t start? Providing the mathematics and engineering that built the pyramids?
      Further back? Possessing the state of mind to risk all and explore beyond the African continent such that humanity could exist everywhere on this planet…
      "African culture is African culture, no matter where it’s found."
      African culture is human culture (as are Asian & European cultures, these are just labels) - if mistakes are made it’s because humanity has fallen short of the potential it should be aspiring to.
      What’s happening in Haiti is ridiculously tragic and fundamentally avoidable 🖤
