- Welcome to Little Steps, Big Gains and the 30-Day Better Balance For Ataxia and Instability Challenge!
This challenge is fantastic for anyone (with or without ataxia) who struggles with balance and instability. Utilizing a combination of sensory reweighting, weight shifting, tai-chi, core and strength training, and postural correction exercises, this challenge focuses on improving functional stability, coordination and balance.
Ataxia is a neurological condition which causes a lack of coordination, instability and balance impairments. This program uses exercises from current research which shows that exercise can improve symptoms and/or slow the progression even for those with degenerative neurological conditions (see video below)
In order to include everyone, there are five levels. These include: 1- sitting unsupported, 2- sitting supported, 3- standing supported, 4- standing unsupported, 5- customized challenge for each exercise. No matter where you are in your physical mobility status, you are included :)
I'm thrilled your jumping in and joining along! Keep up the amazing work- and know that you are AMAZING for being here :)

Completed day 22.🎉
Just AWESOME!!! You're getting closer! Keep up the resilience and determination!!! 👏👏👏
Do you have 3 or 4 dogs?😊
In this challenge I have four! :) Buddy (chocolate labradoodle), Tulip (wheaten terrier) and Lana (Bernese mountain dog) usually like running in first. Clark (Yorkie) comes and goes as he pleases during the videos ❤️ ... He snores and shorts quite a bit that sometimes I have to edit it out 🤣
@@LittleStepsBigGains I love them. Like how they take your exercise space. 😁
@@nyakarimaking20 aw thanks for sharing! They run in when I'm getting set up and do NOT like being left out 🤣
