In this episode of Adventures with Purpose, we are truly humbled in the experience of finding 17-year-old Nicholas Allen, in Linwood, North Carolina.
Originally contacted by Judy, (Nick's Mother) and aunt Trudy back in May, we couldn't dedicate time to make the trip from Oregon.
After being contacted by a local firefighter, who knew 6 vehicles had been identified in the river at the York Hill Boat Ramp, he knew that something had been missed by the local agencies, asking us to really consider making the 3000-mile trip to help Judy and her family bring Nick home.
After a short period of just 30-minutes on the water using side-scan sonar, we identified 3 vehicles underwater with one of them appearing to be in the shape of a Dodge Journey, similar in size and shape to Judy's car.
Sam and Jared suited up in their dive gear and within minutes, were able to identify the Dodge Journey, pulling the license plate, confirming what the family had feared.
The windows were up on the car and as such, we could not yet confirm if Nicholas Allen was inside the car.
After a short conversation with the family, the local Sheriffs Department was called, turning the case over to them with services being offered to help in any way our dive team could.
The local agencies pulled our team out of the area, taking over from there to remove Judy's car from the river.
After the car was recovered from the river, it was confirmed that human remains were indeed inside the car but could not yet confirm with the family that it was Nick.
Within the week, the Sheriff's Office has confirmed, it was Nicholas Allen.
    #scubadiving #foundcar #missingperson
So how did Nicholas and his car end up in the river?
Unfortunately, a late-night breakup with his girlfriend was just too much to handle, leading Nick to take mom's car and drive it into the river at the York Hill Boat Ramp.
Hug the ones you love and reach out to those in need.
We are humbled and thankful for this opportunity and experience to bring closure for Judy and her family.

@@purpleking6678 not by US Law, they have NOTHING they can use to prevent it, the places that passed laws making it illegal to film police, have all had their use of such slapped down as unconstitutional.
      know your facts.
and, when on duty, they are acting as govt official/officials of the govt/state, as such, they are not "private citizens" when on duty, they do not have the right to tell a citizen that they cannot film them, the only times they are allowed such, is preventing filming/shooting of active crime scenes, and even that has been slapped down more then once when it went to the supreme court level...
any cop who tells me i cant film them, is getting filmed.... for my own safety... and i have told them such... only one ever dared lay hands on and threaten me after that....when his supervisor showed up... due to my 911 call about the way the officer was acting... i was uncuffed, the phone i had, was damaged but, i was still able to show the supervisor how i and other had been treated, when we called the cops about some jackass kids trying to burn down a boat house...
anyway.... the cop actually faced some stiff reprimand... they made him hand sweep the parking lots both at the police/fire station, but church across the way, till an old woman, who REALLY REALLY LOATHED him, was happy with his work.... it took him over a week to get her approval on the church, by then, he had to do it again because they had church... he was pretty much stuck just doing busywork/community service...by his boss... they also made him replace my phone with a retail unopened one.. by the time i got it. i had already had a friend take it to his work, and one of the gals replaced the screen he broke as well as replacing the usb-3.x micro-b port with one that wasnt...glitchy... i full on used keys to clone my data and setup the replacement and, ended up giving the repaired one to a friend whos ex-wife ensured he couldnt afford anything but a flipphone till he proved she was using the child support for plastic/cosmetic surgery.... then he got the kids and shes spent over a decade having her wages garnished to a sever degree and isnt half way back to paying him back for all he paid her... so much he was living in a van in his company parkinglot till the owner found out... and had him talk to the company lawfirm and... well... it didnt take much for them to get more proof as well as find out the daughter knew where mom kept all her medical records... she brought them to dad without being asked... when mom had been gone for almost a month, and the power in the appt was out, no more food.. all the kids had stayed in like mom told them... turned out she went on a vacation overseas with her boyfriend of the month... and...well...forgot to pay the bills, and buy supplies... she had done it before... the very hostile cps gal got a call from his phone, from his daughter... and was confused sure dad kidnapped her.. when she found out he phone and elecricity was turned off at the appt and mom had been gone for a month... she ended up having to admit he was the good parent, mom was...using the support payments for her plastic/cosmetic surgery like he had said all along.. and was why she left him... he wouldnt pay for her to get calf and cheekbone implants...
the cops treated my buddy like a criminal when he showed up to get the kids, even though the cps gal who sent them over had said more then once, that he was the good parent to treat him well and help him get the kids ready to move... she was on the way... he was cuffed in the back of a cop car with a nice swelling mark on his cheek/side of his head from the cop hitting him 3 times... that cop faced ZERO reprimand, he won the court case against the PD but the cop kept his job, and one day, made the mistake when not on duty, to say something about it in front of my friends 14yo daughter... she turned around and had him hog tied with his own belt before dad got around the car... (she does calf roping... )
she then explained to him, the only reason his arms had not been dislocated in the process was....dad wouldnt approve... that she knew she would be out of jail, if arrested, faster then he got out of the hosp..if she went to jail.... (shes genuinely terrifying... always has been though... not a psychopath or sociopath, just way too smart, and...way way way too strong... and her temper.... she never "looses her shit" she just makes people suffer till they wish she had just punched them in the dick/cunt.....i say this from personal exp... i pissed her off and... eventually had to beg her to stop... i mean you can only deal with finding peanut butter in all your shoes... or that somebody sprinkled the fine hairs out of rose hips on your clothing/coat...that act like fiberglass... ichy as hell and takes scrubbing to get them out... ).. and on and on for so long, before... "how did she get into my house and room? they live up river..." (hell, i warned her boyfriend never to piss her off and some of why.. he went from laughing at me to a bit of fear to "ok, i will never piss her off, that sounds horrible" hehe... )

It's actually very embarrassing to be shown up by someone not in authority. The correct way it should have be handled would have been. The senior officer or agent thanking you for the discovery and informing you that it is a crime scene, taken your information and that you will have to leave. Then talk to their dive team what you encountered, any hidden dangers in the river. They should have thanked you for the locate and allowing the family to grieve privately. A typical government. LAZY is my nice word for them. His mother always said thats where she knew he was!
Jarrads team found the vehicle in a very very short time. They dove on it and WHAM!
The time it took for anyone to even turn up was atrocious.
The arrogance of the 1st officer was so far way beyond what he should have been doing or saying. He upset me so much as well.
The timeframe in which they were involved in this case was so long.
SLACK GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS who like to sit on their fat As and do anything that is easy. Nothing else.
They think theyre beyond anything else. It happens in virtually every country sadly. He should have been severely repremanded and stood down to be re trained and how to deal with this type of situation. If that has been part of training in the first place, MAYBE (some people you cant teach - you cant even fix it with Duct tape and Id say hes one if them).
Sad to say this but I hope HE has this situation in his family. That MIGHT be the only way he will PULL HIS HEAD IN and learn to treat everyone the respect they deserve, especially in regards to deaths and missing persons.
I dont know what chip he had on his shoulder bit he was so very arrogant!
Thanks Jarrad and all your Team. You do something that rarely happens. I also watch a few other sites and found youve all joined at some stage with what theyre doing. What a lot of very special individuals, all teaming together yo help mankind.

Plus they don’t care about not doing their jobs right & also, don’t care about anybody but the money & prestigious title. Shame on that officer, who was cruel & ungrateful to our guys in Adventures with Purpose for helping solve the case, but it really pissed me off that the officer was so unprofessional, hurtful, uncaring & disrespectful to Judy & her family. @ only a silly goose would make assumptions about what a stranger thinks on RUclips and think they know them personally enough to call them a _narrow minded moron_
But hey, if you actually read what I wrote...
As I said, police *hardly ever* want to search waterways because of the complications and training involved- also money and time. Facts. You can try to dispute it.. but it's well known within the law enforcement community that searching waterways is the last resort in a missing persons case. Which is why it is normally not until a fisherman stumbles across a body that they actually have the dive team suit up and recover them.
As I also said this could be seen as pure laziness by some people, on this departments side, considering they were told and given good reason to check there. And considering it's someone's life involved. Just like the lives of the other cases you're saying they are "stacked" with. So no excuses then. It's the same thing. No life is more important than another in their work.
Which is why I said in the end, we need more people like this willing to volunteer their time and knowledge to help families out who would have to wait much longer for the sheriffs department to get to it otherwise.
Now go have some coffee or tea and relax, no one's coming after you.

As an Officer of the law, You're serving the public. Its your legal and moral obligation to aid your community if the need arises, and theres no shame in asking other Departments or independent professionals for help, if your Departments own know-how and / or resources cant cover it. You dont just mosey on over somewhere else when theres real work to be done, pretending like you're occupied with better things to do. And while i get that the job might be stressful in terms of field conditions and the deskjob bureaucracy, its still a job that needs to be done. You can make your situation better by at least trying to keep your attitude in line.

      2. He is in public. There is NO EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY IN PUBLIC.
He made himself look like an ass. His ego and sense of entitlement is what got him in trouble. He’s mad that a someone else went out there and did his job in 1 hour what he couldn’t do in 8 months. He didn’t want to look bad, but made himself look worse by trying to cover his tracks.

If you look for more on this case, it became a big deal in NC after the team made the discovery and was on the local FOX8 news channel covering this story. It was so bad the Chief in Davidson CO. released a statement of apology to the family and the CO. about how this investigation was handled. So feel free to look it up.

She would have had to be the one to calm me down if I was there. This is an extreme case of power going to someones head and having zero compassion. And this man has a family, how dare him!! He's in Georgia with his girlfriend" tells me that they didn't take this case seriously and never really attempted to locate this vehicle in the river regardless of what they say. The cop stated that he knew that there were numerous vehicles at that location so did they check sonar, see the vehicles and then decide to do nothing about it?

@krvnjrcbs In the case of the war between minorities and the police force, I agree with you slightly. No case is black and white and I acknowledge the police is important for civilian peace and safety.
However, in this case it's about a human life. They should take it seriously. What if it was foul play? What if the body was another case? Just saying, not every police is bad, but not every police is good as well.

Detective Parks was the one being a jerk. The actual Sheriff shows up later in the video and is the guy with the tattoos on his arm that sent the film/dive crew and family to the bridge to watch. Parks has always been an asshole. He’s useless unless you need some teenagers harassed. He tried to search my house one time and used the plastic from a pack of chicken to try and make it out like I was selling drugs. I told him to smell it and his dumb ass almost threw up when he inhaled all that rancid chicken stank. His partner laughed uncontrollably at him and they went on with their day.

He's an incompetent coward. I've been fighting my whole carrier against ppl like this.

I don’t think you or anyone else with integrity is ever wasting their time. We have new generations coming in behind us who desperately need to know how integrity acts, talks & maneuvers! Point out what’s wrong but always highlighting morals and values. We have to teach the next to go about things the right way even when nobody is looking or others fail miserably. ~~For me this case was so much more emotional, simply bc of the pushback given from the local authorities. Even trying to say ‘it’s not worth doing bc some new decorations/rocks had been moved in’ or ‘yah the cars been identified with a license plate but he’s probably not in there’, when we all know this dive team offered him every help & locals will volunteer to remove & replace or do anything to help. These people needed answers for months and months. They could have had it in days.. it’s incomprehensible they had all the RESOURCES and A DIVE TEAM yet they did almost nothing. ~~When Jared said “we’ve done more” the officer didn’t let him finish before he said ‘oh no you haven’t’ and Jared finished saying ‘we’ve already done more sonars & dives this year than this county has’.. he was speaking about credentials.. but the officer gets defensive & doesn’t let him finish a sentence. ~~Divers not greeting other divers is also a great point about ethics. It’s not difficult to say ‘hello & what did you do or see?!!’
~~ Also the best point made here is for local fishermen to scan as they’re out fishing for a few minutes here & there.. & then call some local divers to get in the water & look.
~~Remember this type of interaction, a persons demeanor & sheer lack of empathy as a public servant when it’s time to go vote. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💯💯
