In this episode of Adventures with Purpose, we are truly humbled in the experience of finding 22-year-old Ethan Kazmerzak, in Hampton, Iowa.
Ethan went missing on September 15, 2013, just north of his hometown late one night after a party at a local quarry.
Ethan tried calling his mother from his cell phone at 12:15 am where his phone was last pinged at the corner of 190th and Olive, just a few hundred yards from where he was last seen at a party that night.
Ethan nor his VW Jetta has been seen since...
We returned to Hampton, Iowa a month after our first search aired on RUclips on October 2, 2020, after receiving new information from one of our viewers.
After just 30 minutes on the water with sonar, we identified a car underwater.
Within the hour we dove on the car, identified the car and license plate as a match to Ethan's car.
The Sheriff and Local Police Chief were contacted, meeting us at the quarry.
Location where we found Ethan's car.
    42.808763, -93.232556
The windows were up on the car and as such, we could not confirm if Ethan was inside the car underwater.
Because of agency protocol, the Sheriff had a police dive team arriver the next morning to document and recovery Ethan's car from underwater.
When the VW Jetta was removed from the water, it was confirmed that remains were in the back seat.
Ethan's parents were on the scene, but we respected their privacy and did not speak with them as this is a hard time for their family.
It has since been confirmed by the coroner that the remains were those of Ethan.
How did Ethan and his car end up in the quarry?
We are told that foul play is not believed.
Was this a late-night accident or something else?
    Where’s the $100,000 REWARD??
    ===================
We would be honored to accept the $100,000 Reward so we can further our efforts in helping other families like Ethan's.
However, the $100,000 Reward which has been renewed annually every September at the anniversary of Ethan missing, and extended yearly beyond its original 2015 effective date, is suddenly no longer available from the anonymous donors claiming the reward expired in 2015 even though it has been confirmed by multiple News Stations as late as September 2020 that the reward was still in effect.
In full transparency, Ethan's family was kind in making a donation of their own. We appreciate their gratitude for our efforts in bringing Ethan home.
Donations and rewards are how we are able to fund our operations in helping families such as Ethan's.
    ===================
Hug the ones you love and reach out to those in need.
We are humbled and thankful for this opportunity and experience to bring answers for Ethan's family along with the entire community of Franklin County, Iowa.

That is a huge lack of integrity on the part of the "donors" to claim the reward has expired after Ethan was found even though the reward was renewed in 2020. If a reward is going to be offered it needs to be paid out when the person is found.

Just a minor observation. I get confused with the licence plate, the Missing Persons Poster at 1:04 indicates it would read AUZ 382. That's what I read at 11:40 under water as well. @@4legs4paws55 the car is evidence, and it could be a crime scene... no one really knows what has happened... if something goes wrong and it is the fault of a civilian that civilian could be arrested for disturbing a crime scene.... it is the law.
Also.. as the officer said, they rather not have to subpoena them in case of foul play and they'd have to testify in court.
At the moment there's a crime scene, the police is responsible of it.. if they let a civilian without any legal qualification handle it, they will be liable for anything...

I see this video has hit the youtube algorithm so ill give you guys this: If you ever find yourself in a similar situation do this. Don't panic, the car will float for a minute or two, first remove your seatbelt, then try to open the window, if the window does not open get any sharp item (you can remove your headrest) and break the window, if there are no sharp objects you can use you can break the window with your elbow. If you can't break the window wait for the car to fully fill up with water, take a deep breath right before the car fully fills up, now the pressure inside the car is the same as outside and you can open your door after which you can swim to the surface safely.

All of these recovery rescues really hit home with me. I live in Monroe, Michigan. A friend of the family had a daughter named, Ella, who would play and hang out with my granddaughter. Fast forward, both girls have grown and went their separate ways. Ella had an accident in one of our nearby waterways and her car was jammed between (poles?). That’s unknown to me. I do know underwater divers eventually recovered Ella and her vehicle within 48 hours. Keep doing what you’re doing. I am a supporter, but not a very big one, as my income is limited. I hope somewhere in the future I can help much more, whether in clues or cash support or even buying your merchandise. Love what you all do. ❤️

The car belonged to a soldier who had been missing for a couple of years and his body was recovered in the car. Foul play was suspected but that case was never solved. This video is a very touching one, to see Jared and Sam choke up on finding Ethan after all this time. Even though he may have felt he needed to end things there, I am sure that he hoped that someone would find him so his parents can bring him home and lay him to rest.
It may be of comfort that they have found the body that once held his soul and can now let his soul rest peacefully. However, the way that they dismissed AWP as if they aren't welcome anymore, and that the team of people that should have found him just as easily as Jared and Sam has, now want to swoop in and take the credit for the find and recovery
I feel these two men deserve to be apart of bringing Ethan out of that cold water so his family can now have some closure, and for these two guys to know that he is recovered in a manner that is dignified and respected.

*If you ever find yourself in this situation, immediately roll your windows down and unlock your doors. When a vehicle is submerged in water it takes less than one minute for water to flood up to your neck and you will drown because you will not be able to open the door or windows after the water has gotten in. This happened to me in Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey and fortunately I knew about that possibility. As I was trying to drive my nephew's Jeep to higher ground I unintentionally hit a dip in the road that I was not aware of. The Jeep grounded to a halt and immediately stalled. A few seconds later the water was touching my chin. Because I opened the windows in advance I was able to easily open the door and escape. I thank God that I knew to do that otherwise I would have died that night. 🙏👑🕊️*

Yeah, this is only the third video with them I’ve seen, but I’m impressed not only with what they do, but also with their level of professionalism.
As for the local dive team, and emergency management, I can see them wanting to run the show, even if more professional people are available, and even though it’s just a recovery, it’s an excellent chance for them to go through their protocol and do the job, which they might not do much, and in doing so maybe they might be able to act fast enough to actually save a life.
God bless everyone involved in this recovery, but especially those from this channel who choose to go out, on their own, without any government backing, and help find loved ones so their friends and family can get some closure, give their loved one a proper burial and hopefully move on from this multi year nightmare of just not knowing where their loved one is, or if they are alive. It’s a terrible ending, but it’s far better than a never ending uncertainty over someone’s fate.

They are very respectful and professional in all they do. It’s the other five teams that sometimes get butt-hurt. When AOP gets disrespected it pisses me off. There is a human in that car that a family is missing, throw your ego to the side and get the job done.

They may not bash the previous search team. But I will. This county is full of trash cops especially the sheriff. And search team. Straight garbage. Somebody make these diver guys detectives and pay them double

I don’t understand why they kept saying a license plate ended in 387, when it was obviously 382. And then they told the cop on the phone that they had a license plate match?
And _THEN_ when talking to the cop in person, he said it ended in 357! The cop said “that’s correct.” Huh?? The plate is clear as day 382! Just weird!

As I posted elsewhere here, many years ago I was on vacation in Miami. I saw on the News a case where they found a car at bottom of a canal out towards Everglades. It had 4 or 5 (I think) missing teens inside, who had been missing for years. I forget how many years. This was probably 35 years ago or so. I think they had been missing for a lot of years.
