just to have something to get closer is better than not knowing.. as PMC/SOP vet myself I was on a OP in another country and the clinic daughter went missing and waited for a ransom call and nothing came up after 48 hours, me and 3 others got special promises for all involved at time to stay on to search and recover her 96 hours later again nothing found and it's been 25 years since and it still shakes me to my core beliefs not knowing what.. every year for 1 week me and that team go back in country to to ask and listen for new 411 on her were abouts are.. this just one of many things I live with to today..
@Dan Cooper not true. Ask divers who have seen fully preserved bodies (bloated) when they are jammed in a ship wreck. The body bloats but the cold water preserves it. I know divers who have witnessed this at a wreck dive in one of the Great Lakes.
I had a fisherman discover my 20 year old son and his friend in a lake. I can’t express how important your work is for the families. God bless you all for what you are doing. Be safe!
This sheriff has a big heart. He's how they all should be, no ego, first priority is to solve the case and be grateful for the amazing gift of help these men offer selflessly. Teamwork and cooperation = results.

This was a hard one to watch. Hearing the son say that he heard rumors that his mom ran off just broke my heart that he had hear that about his mom! Seeing the bicycle parts come up proved that she was on her way to the birthday party with the bike as a gift brought tears to my eyes. RIP Carey Mae Parker! Thank you AWP for going back to find the remains of Caery so her family can have closure as to what happened 30 years ago, your team is the BEST!!
Watching the last one when her sister was telling about how she found out Carey had never been listed as a missing person for all those years made me so angry on her behalf, I can't imagine what she felt finding out no one had ever even looked for her or thought she needed looking for. They put her down as a welfare check but clearly no one ever followed up on that. Negligence. It turned out to (seemingly) be a tragic accident, but imagine if something bad had been done to her (kidnap, homicide, etc) and no one in the police ever even looked. How many others out there have fallen through the same cracks? It sounds like the kids dad maybe had custody, given the way her sister spoke about her coming to the party. IDK their circumstances, but I don't understand why he wouldn't have pushed for an investigation into her disappearance on his kids' behalf (and to cover his own ass). Was he afraid people would blame him so he just ignored it? And those poor kids growing up with all kinds of rumours. When they found that bike - clearly meant to be her son's birthday present - that was what broke me. She had either just been to pick it up or was on her way to the party. Heartbreaking. It's so sad and surprising no one saw her go in the water, but perhaps the causeway wasn't as busy in the early 90s. I had no doubt she was down there from the moment they found the car on sonar right after find those old birthday balloons (it was like a sign). So sad seeing the car break apart, and I was angry that forensics didn't even seem to try to recover her afterwards. It was the confirmation when they found some of her that finished me off.
I wanted to hug that Sheriff. He just gets it! He gets why departments need to be more open to getting help from these outside sources and hes thankful for it. You love to see it. It's really frustrating when police refuse to work with AWP.

YES - I've seen several videos where the local officials told AWP to step back. AWP has the equipment, knowledge, and experience that the locals, could never get.
You boys take care about of your mental health .My uncle was a recovery diver in North West Montana ...He thought he could handle all the death. But he has PTSD now from the 129 body's he recovered .God speed to you and take care and thank you !!!
I wasn't diagnosed with PTSD until I was 32 years old, but among other things kids shouldn't have to see is someone you know being recovered from water after any period of time. My family had a small marina on a river that docked a couple dozen boats and dry focked a couple dozen more. It was really a place where friends of the family came to enjoy the summer water skiing and fishing or camping out. Long story short, I was 10 if I remember correctly when my father's good friend and my 1st "steady girlfriend's" Dad went missing from his establishment up the road a ways and was believed to have come to our marina late at night. Members had keys. Unfortunately his sister was the one to see him float up from under our gas dock. I had to help pull him in so the current didn't take him.😣😥So young and it was so devastating for his family. I'll never forget what a human body looks like after being in a river for nearly a week. I'd probably be OK to do find a vehicle, but I can promise everything after that takes a toll on you if you're a person with any kind of empathy or compassion. I couldn't do it. I'm too empathic and feeling what their familys feel is not something I want to have in my heart. I've already had enough heartbreak for several lifetimes. That's why I give these fellas the utmost respect. It reminds me that there are still people out there that do God's work without haggling on a price first. ❤🙏♾️✝️
40 is to much for friends i grew up with and lost to drugs. I couldn't change there life 3 is to much for a crew onboard an Airplane. I couldn't save with an uncle , father and 16 year old kid onboard .
I was worrying about same issue, as a former advocate who worked in disaster area for 6 months . Can’t help others if you don’t care for your own mental health, and take care of YOUR family. I saw marriages dissolve due to “survivor guilt” of Relief workers, after they returned home after hurricane katrina … you need to make sure you create “recovery” times after each Recovery of Deceased. “It” builds up and knocks you Down when you least will expect it. PTSD can happen even with just a few. Hugs

I know right. I hate when they try to act smug, I'm like finding this loved one is NOT about you or your pride as a detective/officer. It's doing everything you can to bring the missing home. That's the only thing that matters.

Funny, this isn't what they originally started out their channel to do. Originally, they started out just wanting to clean out lakes and rivers of debris to help the environment. They ended up finding a missing person and then decided to dedicate their time to locate others. I'm not much of a religious man, but I do believe that God had a hand in this. These guys exemplify the best of humanity.
I don't want to make light of the situation because my heart aches for the family and I'm always so relieved when you can bring answers, but I do find it funny every time Jared whistles, my guinea pig, Little Bear, whistles back. Always gives me a little comfort when I'm crying with y'all. Keep it up guys!

I’m glad they not only got to go back to this site, but that they were able to recover Carey. Not only for her family, but for Jared and everyone else with AWP. Jared was so clearly and deeply pained when the car came up in pieces, knowing Carey wouldn’t be in there, I can’t even imagine how he felt once they’d found her and brought her home. When Jared said "it was his birthday, that could be a bicycle for him".. That was reality and hit me right in the feels. Life is so precious and can be gone in an instant.. ❤️
I wondered that also. Back then 30 years ago, did they ever have information about a bicycle being purchased for such. Would have liked to know if indeed that was part of the story.

@@barleyhops38 it’s difficult to say, when we looked up the model it showed to be manufactured in the late 80’s. I did end up taking it home with me though.
When he said she's been missing since March of 1991, it felt like a gut punch and I felt the overwhelming urge to just cry. I was born shortly after she went missing. To know that this family hasn't had answers (until now) for my entire existence is sobering and heartbreaking. Thank you, AWP. I have immense respect for what you do and how you remind everyone with compassion that these are people, human beings with families that miss them terribly.
I will add that I was born Sept 91’, & also try to comprehend the fact I’m about to be 32 & she’s been down there before I even entered this world.. nuts 🤦♀️💔

It's amazing to me, the total difference between the police/sheriff departments. Some are so appreciative for the extra/new sets of eyes and others just wish you'd leave and never see you again. Thank you for what you all are doing.
It can also depend on the case as well, some depts want secrets to stay buried on particular cases so you may find the same dept that welcomes you for one case will run you off if you try to help with another!!! I have to say I was born and raised in Hunt Co and I know of another particular missing persons case that they’d probably run off anyone trying to assist with it/not welcome any help!!! But this case, yeah they wanted this one solved for the family, everyone did!!!
@@richlaue I mean to be fair. The police couldn't just look in water they literally had hundreds of leads or avenues to follow so have to give them a bit of a break. Atleast he was thankful.
I’ll tell you guys are the most respectful! I lost my dad in a drowning accident and it took the divers 12 days to find him due to the debris at 35ft of water and a diver almost drowned as well! We waited 12 days I couldn’t imagine 30yrs! I’m filled with emotion every time I watch these! You all are doing such a great thing God bless you all!
Makes me feel so glad the children know she did not run off and abandon them. Hopefully now that they know what happened, they can feel her love for them in their hearts. My heart breaks for them that they were in doubt. AWP, thank you so much for what you do.

You are correct. I worked as a LEO for over 33 years. Also EMT firefighter for 8. I recovered three drowning victims all teenagers within several hours of drowning. This was over 40 years ago and I can still remember each incident.

I've just found you through recommended vids. On February 24th, 1989. My father was sucked out of United Airlines Flight 811 after it left Honolulu along with 8 other passengers. No bodies were ever found. My family is still severely impacted for many reasons. I respect and appreciate what you have done for this family more than you can know. I hope that they get the closure they so richly deserve.
I will never forget that, I was to young when it happend but when I got older I saw it on the TV. And after that television episode I always thought by myself, this episode ends but for the loved ones of the people of the plane it never will because how could they ever get closer 😥 I hope you understand what I mean, I can speak and write English (not my language) but I find it hard to explain in English when it is such a emotional thing. I lost my 14 tear old son 12 years ago. I knew where and how he died. It took 30 years for this family. 30 years there is no excuse. My heart goes out to the parents AND the kids. This had to be extremely hard for them.

This case broke my heart when you could only bring parts of the vehicle up. Going back and physically bringing her home, while again heartbreaking, is beyond the call of duty and care. There is really no way to lift a car that is in that bad of condition up from 15 feet underwater without it breaking up further. Maybe a net pulled in from the side and under like a trawler net would work but, might be to dangerous for the divers. So glad they found her. What kind of guard rail was along that stretch 30 years ago?
@@jerryfrederick6610 I get it was always going to break up but the police rushed in to get the car out. Lifting it at night, with no visability to look at how they could encase the debris. AWP had offered advice but it wasnt listened too. It's all in the February 21 video. I believe that the guard rail has been improved since the late 80s but if the car clipped the side it could have flipped over the rail. However it doesn't matter, the lady is found, and her children know she loved them and didnt leave 💜

When I first discovered this channel a couple years ago, car recoveries were only really beginning (atleast being featured and posted) and I remember thinking how amazing it was for these dive teams to volunteer their resource, time and skill...what a difference they are making in the world at their own costs, true heroes. I remember seeing the evolution from the channel going from a hobby search dives into detailed, well produced, recoveries and the subscriber counting growing and everyone involved finding purpose on their lives. I went away from the channel and internet in general for a bit as I was busy and focused on finding my own purpose and journey. I've now rediscovered the channel and am blown away. And ironically it coincides with my life a little bit. Last time I saw these guys they were hobby divers using their skills trying to find purpose and start something and make a difference in the world, and I was doing the same exact thing in my own way. I've reconnected with the channel and they're all well established HEROS now. I went back to school and became a first responder and will be celebrating a year as an emt in a few months. When I started that journey and career change, I was a down and out unemployed, over weight, chain smoking 30 yr old with nothing but mess ups to show for my life, watching channels like this so inspired by ppl coming together and using their hobbies and skills to change people's lives for the better, with compassion and love and fuel and motivation. Like these guys, i found purpose using learned skills to help other people. They didn't achieve their dreams alone and I surely didn't either. If we all just helped and supported each other even a little bit...think of all the heroism, compassion and help we could offer one another. Thank you AWP for all the inspiration you provide regular ole folks and carrying the message of love and compassion, those two things will always get us through. And, congrats on where this channel and project has brought you guys. Its amazing.

Congratulations! I too decided to change my life years ago over 30 after a horrible divorce. Decided nursing school was the way to go so decided to see if my brain cells still functioned. They did. Presidents Honor Roll and a 4.0 all the way through. You’ll understand if I say there literally was no free time. Not a minute. Went straight to ICU and loved it but hubby didn’t like 12+ hour shifts and never seeing me. Applied with the government for a Federal position at our regional VA. Hired. Now retired and will never regret missing a couple of years of having a life to get through school. Loved my vets at the VA. Hang in there. Proud of you and your achievement. First responders are the heroes of the medical field. ❤️🙏🏻

I’m amazed that law enforcement doesn’t put more importance on recovery. You all do this over and over where family and friends pretty much know where their loved ones are, you do amazing work…
Sad to say the main reason is funding.. They just don't have the Tech or Dive team to carry out things of this nature. So glad AWP has found so many with this tech and their selfless acts to find these lost folks and bring them home.

The police department didn't even file her missing persons report correctly you think they would put forth a good effort in trying to find and recover her after so long? Maybe when it first happened they would have if they had actually investigated.
I love how this team (and others) has morphed in just a few short years from ... underwater trash collectors (no offense intended) ... to a very skilled and successful recovery team in these missing person cases. They have found a neglected niche in the world that desperately needed to be filled.
It brings tears to my eyes that these men spend countless hours looking and searching for lost loved ones so grieving families can put their loved ones to rest! I absolutely have a huge amount of respect for these selfless men! God bless you all
SO SO happy you were able to find some of her remains. Seeing the bike parts…ahhh chilling! Bc I remember she apparently had a bike in the trunk for her son’s birthday. THIRTY years. Just wow! This isn’t very far from us and I’m so glad y’all have been able to bring this family closure.

I just rewatched at the numbers there and there were several butterflies 🦋 flying by and one joining another one is so special because it means something even though we may not know but I can also see the way Jared looks at his fellow workers to see their facial look at time to feel their feelings as they are feeling some kind of feeling is what I see if that makes sense I might not be explaining as I’m trying but I see it and feel so much compassion to these guys and these family have their answers now RIP 🦋🌈🦋🥰

Agreed! All that experience doing magnet fishing and diving for cool stuff even like old bottles and such...it ALLLLL served an ultimate purpose. It gave him the experience and the confidence to KNOW he could and should do this.
That gave me chills. It is one thing to find a body in a vehicle but it's a whole different thing to just be recovering remains. Please look after yourselves, this search couldn't have been easy on any of you.
When she said she felt the love from her mom, brought me to absolute tears. My heart was broken for this family but now it’s complete. I couldn’t imagine what they were going through but I am so, so grateful for A.W.P! If it wasn’t for your crew, so many people wouldn’t have closure. You’ve done more for these families than I ever have seen anyone do. You’re truly amazing people and I hope god continues to bless you guys on this amazing powerful journey of yours. I am so glad you guys went back and were able to locate the remains. I remember watching the car recovery and when it broke apart my heart sank, thinking 'thats it, the remains are gone' but you guys came through and dove on it again and that is beyond wonderful because the family gets complete closure now. Fantastic.

This case hits home for me not only is it close but i have been across that lake a hundred times and never even thought that a lady had lost her life there. What an eye opener. Closing this for the family is one of the best and hardest things you guys do. Perseverance, gut instinct, and dedication to helping people find answers is what you are great at. Going back and finding her, not everyone would have done that. But then again, you aren't like everyone else. I was 10 in 1991, my mum helped me throw birthday parties (I was the kind of kid that invited kids to a party without telling my mum until the night before). I can't imagine what my life would have been like if this had happened to my mother. Thank you AWP team for bringing this woman home where she could be mourned and laid to rest. I've watched a few of your episodes (not too many), but this one made me sob. My condolences to Carey's family and friends. RIP Carey Mae Parker.
I know this families feelings so well. My grandfather on my fathers side went missing almost 20 years ago and was declared dead in 2010 but has never been found. I felt like I was ripped of the answers to what happened and where he is or what he went through. I also lost my father that year, I hope they are together again.
I couldn’t help but cry for the family. Thank you for giving them peace at last. Seeing that bicycle and knowing it was her son’s birthday present was bone chilling to me. Thank you for all you do.
*My respect to this team, and to the sheriff here in cooperating!* Unfortunately that's rare, and most agencies will refuse help -- in fact the more successful & effective it is, the more likely LE are to refuse it. Why? In a nutshell, because it makes them look bad (if they're honest about it -- if they're less than honest, they'll trot out some bs about not wanting to encourage "vigilantism" or "amateur detectives"). I come from a family of law enforcement and military going back many generations, so I've heard this first hand, and certainly I don't mean it to be a condemnation of police. Especially not of the 99% of average cops who don't get to make those policy decisions. The simple fact is, they have a high caseload to deal with, and more recent cases tend to take precedent. They also lack the manpower, time and budget to pursue cold cases. And the official agencies are the ones who must answer to the public when someone isn't found for decades and a team like this goes in and achieves it in days or hours. And folks forget that sonar, fancy expensive tech and easy access to diving didn't exist when most of these cases went cold. Be that as it may, it's very petty and self-serving for LE to refuse effective aid like this. _Again my serious respect to the sheriff here in accepting aid without hesitation. That is truly serving the People._

Same boat with you here! I found out about these guys through another RUclipsr who mentioned AWP having found the girl in CA (I know her name, but I feel terrible if I butcher the spelling), so I started watching and have been enjoying how sobering, heartbreaking, and impactful these journeys are -- both solved and currently still unsolved. The Samantha Hopper find broke me apart. Seeing her mother still burdened by the guilt of not having watched both children that night for 23 years was one of the hardest things I've ever watched in another human being. Giving that family the closure they needed is the definition to me of "healing the soul."
I’m new too as a subscriber as of today and have been binge watching. Hopefully one day they come to these smaller towns in Georgia where I am (which is about 2 hrs from Jax FL, I’m from a small town in Alma, Georgia). There was a documentary on the ID channel I think once for a case here. There are plenty this way also. They are doing a fantastic job and I am in complete admiration for their inspiration they are spreading! Much love to the AWP team! 💙
I'm not sure if anyone else noticed but at a little before 18:30 as Jared's getting ready to dive down again you can see a monarch butterfly fly between Doug and Jared and then just over Jared's left shoulder you can see 2 butterflies flying around chasing each other, playing. They say when you see butterflies then a loved one is near. I believe one of the 2 in this video was Carey. And that she was there guiding Jared as he recovered a jaw bone just after the butterflies where flying around him.. Just my opinion. Please keep up the wonderful if sometimes heart breaking, emotional work you gentlemen do to help bring family's the closure they so need.

Hunt County doesn't have the funds for looking into 30 yr old missing persons cases. They probably have to depend on other agencies for any dive teams. The lake itself is patrolled by Texas Parks and Wildlife, who might have individuals that dive, but no trained dive team. Lake Tawakoni is one of the largest lakes in the state.

I realize I'm preaching to the choir here but just throwing my two pennies in .... There was only one law enforcement agency (or officer) that I take issue with and that was the Nick Allen case. Didn't care for the snub of the dive team either. Otherwise, agencies have a lot of limitations, chain of custody and other potential crime scene issues, lack of funds for searches, equipment, training, other cases, safety protocols, etc. They should all be welcoming this team who's soul mission is to bring answers to families. They now have a lot more experience in search and recovery than any agency when it comes to water. They would still have any possible crime scene issues as far as who actually physically does the recovery but .....
I agree however, kindness costs us nothing and goes a long way. Sometimes we need to look beyond limitations and excuses and do the right thing from the start.
I'm finding the interactions with the police are becoming the most moving parts of these videos. The Sheriffs are responsible for providing answers and they feel that responsibility. With limited budgets and no personal expertise to question their own divers abilities they are somewhat helpless. You can hear the relief in their voices that they have a resource with proven skills to search as thoroughly as humanly possible. It's incredible that they have taught themselves and taught themselves to a standard higher than established police training protocols. I imagine a large part of the difference is the sheer passion to succeed.
Major respect to you folks. Im a first responder, and i can still only imagine the toll it takes finding the lost. If i could afford to support the effort i would in a heartbeat. Rest easy to thos lost, and easy thoughts to those left behind.
Everytime is see a video pop up that AWP has found another missing person, there is this sense of relief that their family and friends no longer have to wonder what happened and they can bring their loved one home. Keep up the phenomenal work you all do 👏👏👏

This is my favorite AWP video. I remember the agony on Jared’s face when the contents of the car poured out into the water. This was redemption time for Jared. I agree with Josh that not all the kids believed that their mom was in the car when it was found 30 years later. Poor kids never knew what happened to their mom just that she never showed up for a son’s birthday party. This was a redemption video for Jared and AWP, and for Carrie’s family. To carefully separate car parts from bone fragments was so respectful of the entire team because they believed as their leader does that AWP brings closure to families who have lost loved ones. The debris field was quite vast and to dive fully geared up looking for evidence in murky water was daunting to say the least….but the team successfully completed their task. Did I say this is my favorite video by AWP…God Bless AWP for persistence in bringing closure for her family. 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️

I relate my mother passing with a butterfly, there’s always a butterfly nearby when I think about her. Carey’s at peace. I know she loved those babies!

Man I can relate on the butterfly, my mum had myself and 3 of my sibling and she had 4 butterflies tattooed on her shoulder. 1 for each of us kids, every-time I see one flying around I think of her
She went missing the same month my mom got pregnant with me. I just turned 30 in December. I can’t imagine waiting all that time for answers. It really puts it in perspective.

as PMC/SOP vet myself I was on a OP in another country and the clinic daughter went missing and waited for a ransom call and nothing came up after 48 hours, me and 3 others got special promises for all involved at time to stay on to search and recover her 96 hours later again nothing found and it's been 25 years since and it still shakes me to my core beliefs not knowing what..
every year for 1 week me and that team go back in country to to ask and listen for new 411 on her were abouts are..
this just one of many things I live with to today..

@Dan Cooper not true. Ask divers who have seen fully preserved bodies (bloated) when they are jammed in a ship wreck. The body bloats but the cold water preserves it. I know divers who have witnessed this at a wreck dive in one of the Great Lakes.
He's a very strong empath and it has to be just as hard for him to find them deceased!!!

This was a hard one to watch. Hearing the son say that he heard rumors that his mom ran off just broke my heart that he had hear that about his mom! Seeing the bicycle parts come up proved that she was on her way to the birthday party with the bike as a gift brought tears to my eyes. RIP Carey Mae Parker!

Watching the last one when her sister was telling about how she found out Carey had never been listed as a missing person for all those years made me so angry on her behalf, I can't imagine what she felt finding out no one had ever even looked for her or thought she needed looking for. They put her down as a welfare check but clearly no one ever followed up on that. Negligence. It turned out to (seemingly) be a tragic accident, but imagine if something bad had been done to her (kidnap, homicide, etc) and no one in the police ever even looked. How many others out there have fallen through the same cracks?
It sounds like the kids dad maybe had custody, given the way her sister spoke about her coming to the party. IDK their circumstances, but I don't understand why he wouldn't have pushed for an investigation into her disappearance on his kids' behalf (and to cover his own ass). Was he afraid people would blame him so he just ignored it? And those poor kids growing up with all kinds of rumours.
When they found that bike - clearly meant to be her son's birthday present - that was what broke me. She had either just been to pick it up or was on her way to the party. Heartbreaking. It's so sad and surprising no one saw her go in the water, but perhaps the causeway wasn't as busy in the early 90s.
I had no doubt she was down there from the moment they found the car on sonar right after find those old birthday balloons (it was like a sign). So sad seeing the car break apart, and I was angry that forensics didn't even seem to try to recover her afterwards. It was the confirmation when they found some of her that finished me off.
People should learn to hold their judgements...

YES - I've seen several videos where the local officials told AWP to step back.
AWP has the equipment, knowledge, and experience that the locals, could never get.
You boys take care about of your mental health .My uncle was a recovery diver in North West Montana ...He thought he could handle all the death. But he has PTSD now from the 129 body's he recovered .God speed to you and take care and thank you !!!
I wasn't diagnosed with PTSD until I was 32 years old, but among other things kids shouldn't have to see is someone you know being recovered from water after any period of time. My family had a small marina on a river that docked a couple dozen boats and dry focked a couple dozen more. It was really a place where friends of the family came to enjoy the summer water skiing and fishing or camping out. Long story short, I was 10 if I remember correctly when my father's good friend and my 1st "steady girlfriend's" Dad went missing from his establishment up the road a ways and was believed to have come to our marina late at night. Members had keys. Unfortunately his sister was the one to see him float up from under our gas dock. I had to help pull him in so the current didn't take him.😣😥So young and it was so devastating for his family. I'll never forget what a human body looks like after being in a river for nearly a week. I'd probably be OK to do find a vehicle, but I can promise everything after that takes a toll on you if you're a person with any kind of empathy or compassion. I couldn't do it. I'm too empathic and feeling what their familys feel is not something I want to have in my heart. I've already had enough heartbreak for several lifetimes. That's why I give these fellas the utmost respect. It reminds me that there are still people out there that do God's work without haggling on a price first. ❤🙏♾️✝️

40 is to much for friends i grew up with and lost to drugs. I couldn't change there life 3 is to much for a crew onboard an Airplane. I couldn't save with an uncle , father and 16 year old kid onboard .
I was worrying about same issue, as a former advocate who worked in disaster area for 6 months . Can’t help others if you don’t care for your own mental health, and take care of YOUR family. I saw marriages dissolve due to “survivor guilt” of Relief workers, after they returned home after hurricane katrina … you need to make sure you create “recovery” times after each Recovery of Deceased. “It” builds up and knocks you Down when you least will expect it. PTSD can happen even with just a few. Hugs

When she went missing did the police look for her when the car went in the water there would have been signs of a crash the police must be crap

The children now know their mother didn't just leave them behind. That has to bring a lot of comfort knowing that her leaving was an accident.
Apparently they also located a bicycle inside the car that she had bought that same day as a birthday present for her son. Heartbreaking.

Funny, this isn't what they originally started out their channel to do. Originally, they started out just wanting to clean out lakes and rivers of debris to help the environment. They ended up finding a missing person and then decided to dedicate their time to locate others. I'm not much of a religious man, but I do believe that God had a hand in this. These guys exemplify the best of humanity.

When he said she's been missing since March of 1991, it felt like a gut punch and I felt the overwhelming urge to just cry. I was born shortly after she went missing. To know that this family hasn't had answers (until now) for my entire existence is sobering and heartbreaking. Thank you, AWP. I have immense respect for what you do and how you remind everyone with compassion that these are people, human beings with families that miss them terribly.

It's amazing to me, the total difference between the police/sheriff departments. Some are so appreciative for the extra/new sets of eyes and others just wish you'd leave and never see you again. Thank you for what you all are doing.
It can also depend on the case as well, some depts want secrets to stay buried on particular cases so you may find the same dept that welcomes you for one case will run you off if you try to help with another!!! I have to say I was born and raised in Hunt Co and I know of another particular missing persons case that they’d probably run off anyone trying to assist with it/not welcome any help!!! But this case, yeah they wanted this one solved for the family, everyone did!!!
Especially when AWP comes in and finds within a few hours, what the locals could not find in 20-30 years.
@@richlaue I mean to be fair. The police couldn't just look in water they literally had hundreds of leads or avenues to follow so have to give them a bit of a break. Atleast he was thankful.
It seems like it's mostly the old cases that they're kind and appreciative for the help, but in most of the newer cases they're hostile
I’ll tell you guys are the most respectful! I lost my dad in a drowning accident and it took the divers 12 days to find him due to the debris at 35ft of water and a diver almost drowned as well! We waited 12 days I couldn’t imagine 30yrs! I’m filled with emotion every time I watch these! You all are doing such a great thing God bless you all!

You are correct. I worked as a LEO for over 33 years. Also EMT firefighter for 8. I recovered three drowning victims all teenagers within several hours of drowning. This was over 40 years ago and I can still remember each incident.

I've just found you through recommended vids. On February 24th, 1989. My father was sucked out of United Airlines Flight 811 after it left Honolulu along with 8 other passengers. No bodies were ever found. My family is still severely impacted for many reasons. I respect and appreciate what you have done for this family more than you can know. I hope that they get the closure they so richly deserve.

I lost my 14 tear old son 12 years ago. I knew where and how he died. It took 30 years for this family. 30 years there is no excuse. My heart goes out to the parents AND the kids. This had to be extremely hard for them.

There is really no way to lift a car that is in that bad of condition up from 15 feet underwater without it breaking up further.
Maybe a net pulled in from the side and under like a trawler net would work but, might be to dangerous for the divers.

What kind of guard rail was along that stretch 30 years ago?
@@jerryfrederick6610 I get it was always going to break up but the police rushed in to get the car out. Lifting it at night, with no visability to look at how they could encase the debris. AWP had offered advice but it wasnt listened too. It's all in the February 21 video. I believe that the guard rail has been improved since the late 80s but if the car clipped the side it could have flipped over the rail. However it doesn't matter, the lady is found, and her children know she loved them and didnt leave 💜

When I first discovered this channel a couple years ago, car recoveries were only really beginning (atleast being featured and posted) and I remember thinking how amazing it was for these dive teams to volunteer their resource, time and skill...what a difference they are making in the world at their own costs, true heroes.
I remember seeing the evolution from the channel going from a hobby search dives into detailed, well produced, recoveries and the subscriber counting growing and everyone involved finding purpose on their lives. I went away from the channel and internet in general for a bit as I was busy and focused on finding my own purpose and journey. I've now rediscovered the channel and am blown away. And ironically it coincides with my life a little bit. Last time I saw these guys they were hobby divers using their skills trying to find purpose and start something and make a difference in the world, and I was doing the same exact thing in my own way. I've reconnected with the channel and they're all well established HEROS now. I went back to school and became a first responder and will be celebrating a year as an emt in a few months. When I started that journey and career change, I was a down and out unemployed, over weight, chain smoking 30 yr old with nothing but mess ups to show for my life, watching channels like this so inspired by ppl coming together and using their hobbies and skills to change people's lives for the better, with compassion and love and fuel and motivation. Like these guys, i found purpose using learned skills to help other people. They didn't achieve their dreams alone and I surely didn't either. If we all just helped and supported each other even a little bit...think of all the heroism, compassion and help we could offer one another. Thank you AWP for all the inspiration you provide regular ole folks and carrying the message of love and compassion, those two things will always get us through. And, congrats on where this channel and project has brought you guys. Its amazing.

Congratulations! I too decided to change my life years ago over 30 after a horrible divorce. Decided nursing school was the way to go so decided to see if my brain cells still functioned. They did. Presidents Honor Roll and a 4.0 all the way through. You’ll understand if I say there literally was no free time. Not a minute. Went straight to ICU and loved it but hubby didn’t like 12+ hour shifts and never seeing me. Applied with the government for a Federal position at our regional VA. Hired. Now retired and will never regret missing a couple of years of having a life to get through school. Loved my vets at the VA. Hang in there. Proud of you and your achievement. First responders are the heroes of the medical field. ❤️🙏🏻

I’m amazed that law enforcement doesn’t put more importance on recovery. You all do this over and over where family and friends pretty much know where their loved ones are, you do amazing work…
Sad to say the main reason is funding.. They just don't have the Tech or Dive team to carry out things of this nature. So glad AWP has found so many with this tech and their selfless acts to find these lost folks and bring them home.
theyre extremely low on funding, especially in small towns, so they decidate the resources to those who are likely to be alive sadly

The police department didn't even file her missing persons report correctly you think they would put forth a good effort in trying to find and recover her after so long? Maybe when it first happened they would have if they had actually investigated.
I love how this team (and others) has morphed in just a few short years from ... underwater trash collectors (no offense intended) ... to a very skilled and successful recovery team in these missing person cases. They have found a neglected niche in the world that desperately needed to be filled.
I’m glad they decided to turn into something that truly helps families heal. Must be a hard job, but I’m sure the families couldn’t be more grateful.

Agreed! All that experience doing magnet fishing and diving for cool stuff even like old bottles and such...it ALLLLL served an ultimate purpose. It gave him the experience and the confidence to KNOW he could and should do this.
That gave me chills. It is one thing to find a body in a vehicle but it's a whole different thing to just be recovering remains. Please look after yourselves, this search couldn't have been easy on any of you.

I am so glad you guys went back and were able to locate the remains. I remember watching the car recovery and when it broke apart my heart sank, thinking 'thats it, the remains are gone' but you guys came through and dove on it again and that is beyond wonderful because the family gets complete closure now. I was 10 in 1991, my mum helped me throw birthday parties (I was the kind of kid that invited kids to a party without telling my mum until the night before). I can't imagine what my life would have been like if this had happened to my mother. Thank you AWP team for bringing this woman home where she could be mourned and laid to rest. I know this families feelings so well. My grandfather on my fathers side went missing almost 20 years ago and was declared dead in 2010 but has never been found. I felt like I was ripped of the answers to what happened and where he is or what he went through. I also lost my father that year, I hope they are together again.

*My respect to this team, and to the sheriff here in cooperating!* Unfortunately that's rare, and most agencies will refuse help -- in fact the more successful & effective it is, the more likely LE are to refuse it. Why? In a nutshell, because it makes them look bad (if they're honest about it -- if they're less than honest, they'll trot out some bs about not wanting to encourage "vigilantism" or "amateur detectives"). I come from a family of law enforcement and military going back many generations, so I've heard this first hand, and certainly I don't mean it to be a condemnation of police. Especially not of the 99% of average cops who don't get to make those policy decisions.
The simple fact is, they have a high caseload to deal with, and more recent cases tend to take precedent. They also lack the manpower, time and budget to pursue cold cases. And the official agencies are the ones who must answer to the public when someone isn't found for decades and a team like this goes in and achieves it in days or hours. And folks forget that sonar, fancy expensive tech and easy access to diving didn't exist when most of these cases went cold. Be that as it may, it's very petty and self-serving for LE to refuse effective aid like this. _Again my serious respect to the sheriff here in accepting aid without hesitation. That is truly serving the People._

Same boat with you here! I found out about these guys through another RUclipsr who mentioned AWP having found the girl in CA (I know her name, but I feel terrible if I butcher the spelling), so I started watching and have been enjoying how sobering, heartbreaking, and impactful these journeys are -- both solved and currently still unsolved. The Samantha Hopper find broke me apart. Seeing her mother still burdened by the guilt of not having watched both children that night for 23 years was one of the hardest things I've ever watched in another human being. Giving that family the closure they needed is the definition to me of "healing the soul."
I’m new too as a subscriber as of today and have been binge watching. Hopefully one day they come to these smaller towns in Georgia where I am (which is about 2 hrs from Jax FL, I’m from a small town in Alma, Georgia). There was a documentary on the ID channel I think once for a case here. There are plenty this way also. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed but at a little before 18:30 as Jared's getting ready to dive down again you can see a monarch butterfly fly between Doug and Jared and then just over Jared's left shoulder you can see 2 butterflies flying around chasing each other, playing. They say when you see butterflies then a loved one is near. I believe one of the 2 in this video was Carey. And that she was there guiding Jared as he recovered a jaw bone just after the butterflies where flying around him.. Just my opinion. Please keep up the wonderful if sometimes heart breaking, emotional work you gentlemen do to help bring family's the closure they so need.

First off I have never commented on any RUclips page before I'm in my 50;s and can watch like a lot of folks any thing out there .AWP in my opinion is the best produced and filmed video out there. What yall do is amazing helping these families. God bless you all.

Hunt County doesn't have the funds for looking into 30 yr old missing persons cases. They probably have to depend on other agencies for any dive teams. The lake itself is patrolled by Texas Parks and Wildlife, who might have individuals that dive, but no trained dive team. Lake Tawakoni is one of the largest lakes in the state.

Sheriff Terry Jones… you’re right on sir, and a real stand-up guy. Giving credit where credit’s due doesn’t cost us anything but you wouldn’t know it by how SOME ‘professionals’ act. These young people are doing life-altering work and they deserve appreciation at the very least.

I realize I'm preaching to the choir here but just throwing my two pennies in ....
There was only one law enforcement agency (or officer) that I take issue with and that was the Nick Allen case. Didn't care for the snub of the dive team either.
Otherwise, agencies have a lot of limitations, chain of custody and other potential crime scene issues, lack of funds for searches, equipment, training, other cases, safety protocols, etc.
They should all be welcoming this team who's soul mission is to bring answers to families. They now have a lot more experience in search and recovery than any agency when it comes to water. They would still have any possible crime scene issues as far as who actually physically does the recovery but .....
I agree however, kindness costs us nothing and goes a long way. Sometimes we need to look beyond limitations and excuses and do the right thing from the start.
I'm finding the interactions with the police are becoming the most moving parts of these videos. The Sheriffs are responsible for providing answers and they feel that responsibility. With limited budgets and no personal expertise to question their own divers abilities they are somewhat helpless. You can hear the relief in their voices that they have a resource with proven skills to search as thoroughly as humanly possible.
It's incredible that they have taught themselves and taught themselves to a standard higher than established police training protocols. I imagine a large part of the difference is the sheer passion to succeed.
Major respect to you folks. Im a first responder, and i can still only imagine the toll it takes finding the lost. If i could afford to support the effort i would in a heartbeat. Rest easy to thos lost, and easy thoughts to those left behind.
Everytime is see a video pop up that AWP has found another missing person, there is this sense of relief that their family and friends no longer have to wonder what happened and they can bring their loved one home. Keep up the phenomenal work you all do 👏👏👏

These videos are a stark realization of how needed this specialized niche is in missing persons cases. It never fails to amaze, how just beneath the water are hidden answers.

This is my favorite AWP video. I remember the agony on Jared’s face when the contents of the car poured out into the water. This was redemption time for Jared. I agree with Josh that not all the kids believed that their mom was in the car when it was found 30 years later. Poor kids never knew what happened to their mom just that she never showed up for a son’s birthday party. This was a redemption video for Jared and AWP, and for Carrie’s family. To carefully separate car parts from bone fragments was so respectful of the entire team because they believed as their leader does that AWP brings closure to families who have lost loved ones. The debris field was quite vast and to dive fully geared up looking for evidence in murky water was daunting to say the least….but the team successfully completed their task. Did I say this is my favorite video by AWP…God Bless AWP for persistence in bringing closure for her family. 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
I don't think you guy's know, How much of a Gift AWP is to so many families. The amount of care and respect you share to families and others, is just an Amazing Gift of kindness & love that goes above and beyond. Again, Great Job!..

Thank you AWP for helping families who need closure. I can’t imagine having someone in my family lost for 30 years. I noticed a timestamp 18:27, there’s a butterfly flying around. I relate my mother passing with a butterfly, there’s always a butterfly nearby when I think about her. Carey’s at peace. I know she loved those babies!

Man I can relate on the butterfly, my mum had myself and 3 of my sibling and she had 4 butterflies tattooed on her shoulder. 1 for each of us kids, every-time I see one flying around I think of her

She went missing the same month my mom got pregnant with me. I just turned 30 in December. I can’t imagine waiting all that time for answers. It really puts it in perspective.
