I just wanted to pop in here and say, there is no shame in the joy that he's been found. I know so many people are so judgemental and berate loved ones and the search teams for being happy, and uplifted when the missing are found, but you should be happy. You should feel blessed. You have them back and it lifts such an immense burden from your soul. Ralph can rest peacefully now xx

Jared, I am a detective and have been in law enforcement since 1995. A back ground investigator once asked my husband what my best trait was he said, "tenacious" the investigator then asked what my worst trait was he said, "tenacious" You fall in that same title as me. This episodes reaction is proof positive you are the best at your work. Never ever ignore your intuition. Your dedication, determination, and tenaciousness is why you never gave up on Ralph. Keep up the good fight! Excellent work.

Jared, a professional grows with every intervention they perform. This is every professional in any field. I am a retired RN with 40 years critical care experience. I have done sleep studies as well as noninvasive vascular studies. There is a learning curve with everything you do. I have walked into a patient's room in the ICU and instinctively knew something was wrong. So you check and double check. You think on it and go back and check again. It could be that an EKG lead is a little loose. It could be anything. You said yourself the water is deeper than it was. There is a lot of debris. Atmospheric changes could have moved the debris and now the car is visible. Your gut led you back. You have not let the family down. Don't kick yourself around the block. But the fact that you question yourself is the sign of a consummate professional. When you question yourself you grow as a person. Stay safe.

He chased that gut feeling, he came back even though he thought he'd cleared the area. That's not failing; that's dedication, and a willingness to keep an open mind and consider that he may have missed something. 100%, He has never failed these families.

I could tell how torn up Jared was about having missed this vehicle on his other searches there. It's not your fault, Jared. There were a lot of circumstances that prevented you from seeing it on the sonar. My guess is that it was camouflaged by the trees and debris at the time. You trusted your instincts and didn't give up. You have learned and gotten more experience. Try not to beat yourself up. I know that's easier said than done, but remember, no one else found him either. You kept asking yourself "What if I missed something?" and kept going back to make sure; and in the end, you found him and brought him home. The fact that you were so upset shows how much you care. Thank you and Doug, and the rest of the AWP team for doing this. You are appreciated!

And that you've kept searching you've not let them down. If you would've said 'it's clear and we're done', that would've let them down. Jared, you found him when you were meant to find him. You’ve learned and continue to learn so much and so quickly. The important thing is that you didn’t give up and you listened to that voice inside you that kept pulling you back. Give yourself the same grace, love and understanding that you would give your crew, your friends or your family. You deserve that much for yourself. Beating yourself up isn’t going to make anything better or easier. Now you can take the knowledge you’ve gained to help other families and going ahead you’ll learn to trust that instinct or inner voice when you feel it.
You and Doug are really an amazing team. You talk things out when you disagree about what you see or don’t see but you understand that the other isn’t saying it to be hurtful but to help a family. It’s a kind of understanding we all should try to have for others.

Ralph was found because YOU didn't give up, Jared! He never would have been found otherwise. You have always been honest with the families, and did the best you could on every search, it's just that wonderful intuition that beats away at you, that gives you reason to try again. I recall Maria Shriver telling a story of her mom, who would ask each child what they did that day to help others. As each replied of their accomplishments, Eunice would ask them, "Did you do enough? Could you have done more?" and I happen to think you are a shining example of someone who always does more. This video certainly proves it. Doug is such a motivational and inspirational person and he truly understands that your expertise grows over time and revisiting cases and areas with new info is what can make you successful. Sir, if I were the decedent’s family and received a call that you located my lost loved one, I promise you the question would not enter my mind why did you not find him before? I would be sad and grateful that you found him, when nobody else did. You have a skill that most do not, persistence that very few possess, and are performing a service that many law enforcement agencies don’t have. Perfect is the enemy of good here.

I love how comfortable the police were! Like usually theres a least one point where they question or eye the camera before seeming to be okay with it, these guys even let some cinematic/creative shots fly 🤣 love it. Proud of y’all for bringing Ralph home! ❤️

This doesn’t define you in a negative manner. You turned around and tried one more time. You listened to your gut. If anything, this makes people believe in you even more. The point is, you found him. Doesn’t matter if you cleared it three times, you didn’t give up. You found him! The emotions. The heart. You’re amazing and so is your team.

Don't beat yourself up Jared, all that matters is Ralph is going home because you guys never gave up on him! You guys are learning so much so fast and another year from now you'll know even more.
Sending you all lots of love and thinking of Ralph's family x

I’m 2yrs late but this is so beautifully done. As always. You’re all so respectful and diligent. To show that level of emotion for your recoveries and the victims shows your heart. Even down to the sheriff! Hats off because law enforcement isn’t always so smart to take a step back and say let the professionals that began this finish it.

Jared, don't ever second-guess yourself or feel bad because you miss something on sonar. You have brought so many families closure, sometimes things just happen.

Every time I see a car coming out of the water, with almost a 99% certainty contains the body of someone's loved one, I get chills, then I cry. Thank you AWP for the wonderful volunteer work you do. Not enough words for how awesome you all are.

Jared, your tenacity and dedication to improving your skills is what brought Ralph home. Thank you for what you do. As someone who lost a grandma to dementia, it’s heartwarming that complete strangers are taking their time to understand them even if it’s after they’re gone.

I cried many tears in this episode. I felt so many emotions, but when Jared was so hard on himself made me hurt even more. The AWP team is amazing. The respect and dignity that you give not only to the family, but to the person who is being recovered is so warm and loving. There are no words to describe how the closer you give to families other then love and compassion. God has given you a mission and you do it with such passion. God bless all of the members of AWP.

Jared, you are an amazing person and you have found people that have been missing for years that NO ONE else found. No one is perfect and what makes you so amazing is your humility, your integrity, your selflessness and your heart. Please never stop what you are doing, never doubt yourself, and do not beat yourself up. If I ever have anyone go missing you will be who I call for help!!!!
