I think it's cool that Edgar handed the spirit of Tangerine dream to a new generation and now it lives on. TD can live forever!
Tangerine Dream: The Next Generation. I say they are worthy. The spirit of Tangerine Dream is completely safe with them. Edgar Froese is smiling. Fabulous concert.
go to go with that and even a little more . Great movement and organic growth .
My words man! 🤗
i agree. it could be TD with edgar, even with chris franke and j. schmoelling. thanks to them that they go on with TD. i wish them every luck in the world.
Claus SCHULTZE. just went
I think they absolute crap
Edgar Froese live in his music he is immortal♥R.I.P.
Pink Floyd made 4 amazing albums. TD made 100s. They just never cease to amaze.
only 4.....I've got 6....
Been a fan since 1977. Edgar can rest in peace. TD is in great hands.
my words man
Ever since Edgar's passing, I was a little reserved in checking out what the latest incarnation has put out, because I thought there was no way it would be nearly as good as their glory days of the 70's and 80's (Once Chris Franke left, I thought it was downhill from there, save for a few tracks on the Miracle Mile soundtrack and Optical Race.)
But, much to my surprise, I was totally wrong. These guys really do Edgar a great justice, I really like what I heard and saw!
That exactly what I think. Maybe the hype around synthpop (Stranger things and co) help a bit to bring back the good vibe and kick out sax and new age FM sound... Their last album Quantum Gate was my best TD since Poland !!! Happy to know they are on Steven Wilson label Kscope, now. Hope they will made more albums of this quality !
@@mycophile new studio album about to be worked on - release date 2020
You're absolutely right because this new version of Tangerine Dreams found a high spiritual vibe🔥
Edgar's legacy lives beyond him ...
I've loved TD since the 70's. Sadly I never got to see them live. So many years later here I sit watching them in concert. And this current lineup certainly does a great job of keeping TD alive
Santana
I got to see them a handful of times in the 80s. Amazing each time.
More than 40 years later ...still the same sound ...beautiful and amazing! ....bravo TD ,!!!
I love this lineup. They have gone back to TD's roots which is the band I fell in love with when I was younger. I'm glad they chose to carry on. Edgar would be proud!
R
Back to "Berliner Schule" you mean? Agree with you totally.
Greets
I must give this a proper listen
I'm thinking the same. I was one of the people who loved the Froese, Franke, Baumann era, and thought the band could never survive, but I honestly think they're better now than they were for the last decade or longer.
i agree. this could be TD with Edgar, chris and johannes. TD like in the 70s 80s. thanks that they chose to go on. love it.
Got goosebumps when Stratosfear startet at ca. 39 minutes. One of the best synth tracks ever!
Edgar Froese would be proud, that his fantastic fine art work have this nice continuation and is able to impress so many younger and older fans of electronic music!
Great concert, excellent sound! The former sound (Ricochet/Stratosfear) was very mystic, a normal matter for the time of the late 70s, a great time.... regards to H. Y.
As "no-writed" music, very good remaining of the Masters.....
You're absolutely right!
TD is in safe hands. Long may they continue!
With Tangerine Dream you can just feel the music through your entire body, being.. I know it sounds cliche, but its true. It´s like they have an entire frequency of their own. And when you listen to them, you get to tune in on that special frequency.. its beautiful!
I started to tune into this "alien" frequency of theirs when I was 15 years old back in 1985. Really nice to know that another has found and recognised the same thing I've felt in TD for years. Edgar found and cultivated something magical.
Been a fan of Ulrich since 2003 and very glad that he's part of this.
In 1985 I was 20. I discovered JMJ, Vangelis, KS, Kraftwerk and of course TD. Now I am 54. I am addicted. Not to drugs, but to EMusic. TD is the best. I listen to them every spare second. Dirk - Belgium.
Who is ks ? Thanks.
Klaus Schulze
That's right sister that's right!
The style and sound of my old young years when I started listening to the space music of TD
I see fans, in general 40+ generation, like me, greetings from Poland
Against all odds with the sad loss of Edgar Froese I for one am so pleased the spirit of TD is alive and well and goes from strength to strength.
Wow, first heard TD at Windsor festival in 1974 , it was Phaedra (a record) played to an amazing light show and with some sci fi background story added over it, I asked for it again about 20 minutes later and to my utter amazement got the repeat! I have been hooked ever since, but never seen them live, this was a real treat. Thanks!
Wow I was 2 in 1974 but I've got Phaedra on vinyl bought years later... Even took it to the other side of the world when I moved... Love Tangerine Dream

A 1 hour and 15 minutes long electronic musical improvisation on a Saturday night in Oslo.
14:24 sublime...🇮🇹
Fantastic concert, and I look forward to seeing TD live once again. Edgar is sadly gone but Tangerine Dream lives on and is in good hands - long may they continue!
I was lucky enough to be there; it was a fantastic concert. TD fan since the the 70's. TD has always been more of a concept than a 'band'. As this concert attests, the concept is alive and well anno 2018. :)
One thing is to make this music in studio, other thing is to perform, absolutely beautiful.
Steve Jefferies They should definitely bring this out on a CD and DVD and yes, Edgar would be proud
Awesome Show been a fan since late 70's and on!! One and Only Tangerine Dream there will never be another band LIKE THEM! PERIOD!!
this is a period . .
Wow, beginning at 7:40 takes me back to the 80's--believe the song is called "Betrayal." We just had cable TV installed in our house and the movie "Sorcerer" came on, starred Roy Scheider as a mobster turned truck driver transporting dynamite/nitroglycerin to a remote South American village to extinguish an oil fire. This music and more played during the movie--very intense movie, very intense score by Tangerine Dream.
+ about 30+% of the music used in the movie comes from Keith Jarretts Hymns/Spheres Part III, sometimes it is even mixed in with TD's score
In the 80¨s i heard Tangerine Dream, was phenomenal and this is not only electronic music is progressive rock. My regards from Guatemala, Central América.
That rendition of Love on a Real Train was superb
Edgar would be very proud of you all...fantastic.
Just absolutely great. The two pieces from Quantum Gate are great with complex sequenced lines ! And renditions of classics are subtle. And the visuals behind are hypnotic. I put this among the best things from TD that I think about (but I don’t know their work between 1988 and 2005), that is :
Rubycon - Ricochet - Cyclone (Yes, I like Cyclone) - Wu Wei part on Tangram - the last short part of Logos - Mojave Plan (best thing with Schmoelling, I think) - Poland - Horizon - Streethawk (short and efficient) - Love on a Real Train - Song of the Whale parts 1&2 (beautiful guitar) - the end of Alchemy of the Heart - Sphinx Lightning 2008 part 1 on London Eye (totally hypnotic) - Kiew Mission 2009 on Rocking Out the Bats (intense and loud version of part 1, good saxophone version of part 2) - Insight (on Autumn in Hiroshima) - Passing all Signs (on Views from a Red Train)
So I add these two Quantum Gate pieces which I can’t stop to listen.
Recently we had also three other great electronic pieces in a row : Oxygen 15, 16 and 17 from JMJarre
That groove just before the end was amazing.
The spirit of the old sequencer lines but with a swing.
Poland Love Tangerine Dream ;-)
4.12.24: Tangerine Dream, Poznań, Poland
5.12.24 Tangerine Dream Warsaw, Poland
6.12.24 Tangerine Dream Kraków, Poland
every note has a precise space and function. The overall function is to haunt you, not just amuse or entertain you
Violinist is not Hoshiko, not Yoshiko... It's me.
So sorry - it's fixed, thanks for pointing that out. :)
no problem. anyway thank you for the video!
Thank you three! It was spectacular!
wow ! nice to meet You , TD fan from Poland (not Holland), last time I've seem You in Admiralspalast Berlin with RiP Edgar, from Poland with Love, Mat
Before the release of the album tangram I didn't know tangerine dream even existed . My brother had listend the album a week earlier , and when the radio station Chez 106 in Ottawa was going to play the album again my brother told me , listen to this .
It was late November and it was snowing big large snow flakes , and I was stunned and amazed with the sound . The snow was a perfect setting for this new sound which at that very moment I was hooked !
And i have always been a major TD fan every since . Edgar was a musical legend and genius , and
I love the original sound .
But I have to say I really like the way things are going with this new sound .
Thank you so much for your contribution .
💙TD universe .
“Love on a Real Train” is so sublime! It’s so heartachingly beautiful!
Sounds a bit Vangelis to me, but yes, beautiful.
@@alexanderkuptsov6117 Always thought the very same. Vangelis-like.
Try the original version ...
So happy TD is back to their roots with this line-up! Their interpretations of the 70s tracks is perfect, top sound and composition. Saw this line-up in Berlin in 2019, nice concert in a church.
simply beautiful! Edgar would be proud. His legacy is truly living on.
When Edgar passed I was skeptical about the band continuing with the TD name. I'm so glad they did now as they've done him proud. So nice to see the set opening with Tangram too, first TD album I heard...
It's surprising. After Edgar dies, his son Jerome said that TD will end with his passing on Facebook. So I guess they changed their minds
Dumb bitch!
Loving the latest tangerine dream members and music. Really great.
Thorsten Quaeschning - keyboards, guitar, drums
Hoshiko Yamane - violin/viola, cello, ableton push, looper
Ulrich Schnauss - keyboards, sequencer control / ableton, FX
Ever heard of *Jerome Froese* ? I got one CD bought in the 1990's (wow long time ago) by TD and the line-up included *Jerome Froese* Any idea, what happened?
@@isallah1kafir196 He left the band in 2005.
@@isallah1kafir196 Yes, Checkout "Loom"
If this doesn't get played at my funeral i'm not going...
lol
Well played
😅🤣😂
Wow! They're still here and good as always. I know them since the 1980's. Tangerine Dream music is unique.
Saw them live in 74
@@kayspielman5298 I saw them once on June 28,1986 at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. I had been a fan for a few years before then. Still awe inspiring now
23:51 I freaking love her
100%
Man!! What an incredible performance this was!! These guys are really moving forward!! LONG LIVE TANGERINE DREAM!!
I am truly loving this incarnation of TD; fantastic interpretations of classics, and their improvs are excellent. So glad they continue to perform and keep the name alive, brilliant.
My thoughts exactly..
AGREE
I will miss Edgar Froese forever . . . yet, his genius lives on.
spot on!
Station Lightyears h
very beautiful even if the libene up is completely different from the beginning BUT THE NEW MUSICIANS ARE GREAT AND KEEP THE HEART OF TANGERINE DREAM (sorry for my basic english)
I just tuned 76 and this music is timeless and it takes you on a journey any where you want to go!
❤♾
... in 1974 I painted the image of the lp phaedra, a white dove, on my 1 bedroom apartment, I was totally imersed in the sound of tangerine dream, day and night.
I'm 73yo now and I still love their sound, despite the demise of edgar, td kept on going strong.
I remember those days quite fondly.
greetings from portugal.
Bravo amigo!
43 years ago Stratosfear sounded quite refreshing, now it sounds........ Still as refreshing... What a rendition....... Powerfull yet with all the emotion it always had... My God I was 15 at the time, never had the chance to see TD... I definitely want to see THIS Line-Up!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome back to your roots, TD. Tangram, Stratosfear, and at least a spice of Richochet. Sooo impressive even on YT!!! Thanks for sharing, and cudos to Hoshiko.
I lost interest in TD for a long time, but 2018 was a big turning point. The 90’s new age thing is finally gone, they sound more dynamic and futuristic than they have in a long time, which I attribute to Thorsten taking the helm.
I was lucky enough to meet them in 1983 and see their concert in Santa Monica CA, and that is what got me to switch from playing drums to synths. This new TD band is just as good!
avant gardistes , créatifs ...chercheurs de climats ! en tant que musicien professionnel batteur-compositeur,j'adore ! I LOVE IT !
14:14 Love On A Real Train ... imortal!
where have i been? just found out ulrich schnauss is a member this great band. may they keep carrying the torch of td's legacy for generations to come. come over to indonesia please.
Very great. Remembers me of TD's music of the late 70th/early 80th. In memoriam Edgar......Listening to Tangy since middle of the 70th, I am very astonished to hear 2018 same way of music since these early years: Wonderful - I love it.
The performers do justice to the tradition of Tangerine Dream. Great memory makers!
the first album of TD i bought was Stratosfear, 40+ yrs later this, i cried n Edgar smiled, excellence beyond belief
My 1st was also Stratosfear, then went backwards to Rubycon and Pheadra. (i have the clear vinyl version of Force Majuer)
Stunning, many thanks for sharing this! To any fan of this amazing band keep supporting their dream and make a purchase.
Love how she plays the vilon. Beautiful.
Vilain
My only previous exposure to TD was the mindblowing music in their sound track to that James Caan jewel thief movie, "THIEF." The more I hear the more I'm enamored.
Fantastic performance and nice to hear them play Tangram. Not heard very often and deserves so much more credit. Tangram is the one album that got me hooked on TD at the age of 13. Still got all their albums before 1990 on vinyl. Just sounds so much better.
Dream on!
I love Tangerine Dream . They are the best Electronic group in the world.
Yes and the founders of dance trance along with Kraftwerk so late 70's early 80 got it covered
Of course yes. But don't forget about Jean Michel Jarre, the founder of the genre.
Absolute D´accord!!..
@@garis1161 "Tangerine Dream are considered a pioneering act in electronica.". When Jarre released his first record, Tangerine's debut was 2 years old. The same goes with both's hits: Jarre's Oxygene 1976, TD's Zeit 1972.
Not listened to TD since Edgar passed away so thought i would see what's on RUclips and come across this gig, well i can truly say that you guys would make Edgar proud i loved this it has old school from my time when i first bought my TD album (Cyclone) and new material a great performance guys you done Edgar proud !
Definitely my thoughts entirely, Edgar must be smiling down. So sad he's gone.
@Kreuhn Kohrman Ulrich Schnauss is no slouch
By time they only get better. Like Gary Numan. Mind blowing music.
lucky ones who were there
I LOVE THIS GROUP ! since 1970 !
Love Ulrich's solo stuff. Heard about Tangerine Dream a long time ago because he said they were a big influence of his and now he's in the band. What a wild trip he must be on.
Thorsten, Yoshiko, and Ulrich, please do never stop this.
It gives hope and confidence!
Personally I need these things sometimes (who not?!) and in your music I do find them.
Thank you so much!
Marcus, her name is Hoshiko Yamane, she is a namesake of one of the greatest game composers ever - Michiru Yamane.
Thorsten is TD all the way dali edgaresque….Ulrich same. Hoshiko...well...totally adept. thank you.
The most wonderful sound layering. So glad to hear classic TD within this incarnation. Thank you.
That's what I am talking about, nice one guys !! Ur fan from Iran since 1977.
From start to finish.lWonderful!
They are like the Pink Floyd of Electronica :) great music and visuals
TANGERINE DREAM will be playing their first U.S date, since 2013 at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, at Parish March 16/17 2023:
Can't believe I have only just found Tangerine Dream, this is sublime
Me too! Only just 30 min ago
My first time listening to this band. Holy Smokes. Where have I've been all these years? This is mind blowing 'great!
@Donald Moore reach back about 50 years and then work your way forward for one hell of a Kosmische Musik ride. Welcome to the world of Tangerine Dream.
my thoughts exactly
Same here, it's cool having information shared from other fans so I can search more of their early music
They are rubbish compared to their early stuff . Try exit , Poland , hypoboria, thief , tangram. Le Parc. Ricochet, white eagle. A different level the last ten albums are interchangeable.
@@sirdamianmental Awesome list, apparently all good early material..
What are your top 3 favorites?
Oh how I LOVE THIS ENTIRE CONCERT!!!!! Perfection!!!! Thank you so much for posting!!! I am in my HAPPY
PLACE!!!!!! ❣️❣️❣️❣️
this was effin' great. thank you TD.
No Edgar Froese. But still, I think he would like to have Tangerine Dream to continue without him. He is with his musicians, his spirit is guiding them through this performance. We miss you Edgar, but you will be in our hearts, soul, and your music for as long as we live.
Merci
Keeping the flame burning so well....thankyou!!
Lovin the Stratosphere bit, hell take me back 40 years!!
Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful performance!

IT'S REALLY AMAZING!!!!
"Love on a real train" is an ageless, wonderful masterpiece.
I just cannot fathom the genius behind that piece...
Unbelievable

Many thanks for a wonderful performance, 'Q', Hoshiko and Ulrich😎
Stunning performance!!
I was dancing. Thanks a lot for this retransmition. Very good job. Long life to Tangerine Dream.
TD take you to another place, where ever you imagine, they will take you there with this phenomenal piece of music
I always loved the TD three member lineups. This seems to be further confirmation. Thanks for the amazing music from the future made in my lifetime.
thanks to ---> Thorsten, Hoshiko, and Ulrich!
unbeleaveable emotions come true while hearing this sounds.
As a 20 year old, I hope music like this will become popular again. . . Too many are being fed ignorance on purpose for the sake of an artificial culture that is easier to control. I find it appalling. Music like this, it calls to the soul. Electronic or classical, music that is meant to be emotion evoking & I'd even argue esoteric in a sense... it's undying. It's also timeless. I just hope it lives on.
You have great taste, my friend. I like TD because the music lets me put my own commentary on life in with it. It speaks, and my soul resonates. (I don't always like music with words. Words written by someone else commands or tells me what to think). Tangerine Dream sets the mind free with their music. Wondrous and soulful. THANK YOU for seeing this truth at a young age.
i'm 46 and you're totally correct.
Yeah, music without words is literally the best.
It's overrated is what it is. Especially when most "singers" are trash, attempting to state their quality of talent is excellent. It's just what it is. Trash.
@White Baron Synthwave sounds too artificial.
@White Baron in my...opinion..
Wow! Thanks for posting! :-)
Just brilliant remember there music in the 70 s and they are just as good we wil always listen to them plus memories xxx
