Who wouldn't be happy with a zr1? The c6 in my opinion is one of GM's best chassis. People try to talk their shit but you can't argue with performance.

Trade spots and I bet the ZR1 pulls a few seconds each lap! Because on the Nurburgring the ZR1 had a better time than the way to expensive LAMEborghini!
So what if the ZR1 has a better laptime at the nurburgring, Thats means nothing, We all no the ZR1 is faster, But judging from one lap is retarded and proves nothing.
Which car I would take? Obviously the Lambo. Then I would sell it and buy two corvette ZR1 one red and one black, 5 sport bikes, a $500k house with a huge ass garage, a snowmobile, a four wheeler, a side by side, a $5000 barbecue, a 2000hp diesel tractor and a 500hp v8 lawnmower. I would probably still have lots of money left after all this. Chevy did an awesome job with the corvette. A fraction of the price but yet its still faster than the Lambo. Of course the lambo is more composed, its built better and a lot more fancy, but its also got 15x the price tag. But both awesome cars! Fan of both!

Kinda looks like he had to back off in the Vette a couple times so he wouldn't smack the Lambo up the ass. Had the road have been wider (As per American specs) he just might have been able to pass the Lambo.......Oh the horror!!

Yeah that’s what I mean. This Vette and the Viper were the last drivers cars, but now the C8 is another driving computer and the Viper is dead.

For what it's worth, on a track of course the lambo will handle better, it's AWD but it has that advantage and it has automatic transmission, even with those two huge advantages the vette still kept up, I think the vette is a better car with that being said.

It takes a stripped out track ready Lambo to go against a ZR1, And still loses on tracks, Certainly not a bad thing, But that ZR1 is damn impressive.

"The ZR1 is better behaved and handling is miles better than the Z06." Uhhhh... not according to every other automotive journalist I've ever seen, read or heard of. My cousin became QC Director at the Corvette plant in 2004 and we've been a "Corvette family" for many years before and since. I've owned both the C6 Z06 and ZR1 platforms (2007 Z06, 2013 ZR1 and recently bought a low-mileage 2010 Z06) and the Z06 is lighter and much more forgiving. Having substantially less power, it's also easier to put that power down. That's why both cars have very similar times on strips and tracks. The braking definitely goes to the ZR1 unless you have the Z07 package on your Z06. The ZR1 is a great car but the Z06 is a far superior platform to work with. There's a reason it's the preferred model for race teams (including the factory Corvette Racing team). Just my opinion. Cheers.

Ha ha ha! Vette=Lambo killer. The ZR1 is much harder to drive than the new ZO6 ZO7 let alone the Lamborghini with 30 more horsepower and all-wheel-drive . I can only imagine what kind of a spanking that Lambo would get from the new ZO6. I can smell the brand new Pilot Sport cup 2 tires!! Vette 1, Lamborghini none.

PLUS you can drive into about a million chevy dealerships when it needs service.....try to find one for a Lamborghini.....remember the huge difference in price too. No comparison. +Bruno Miguel Why would that matter? Just means it's not as expensive to fix and you get lightness for a lot less price. Plus the stiffness of the body panels wouldn't do anything as the chassis is what deals with the twisting forces.

I honestly think corvettes in general look way better than any European supercars... they put too many areo dynamics in them witch make them look like air planes too only look cool.. in my opinion the corvette looks 100% better

Highly agree and especially when it comes to the ZR1! The C7 ZR1 is a garish mess, looking like some kind of fast and furious nightmare. I run a shop that specializes in Vettes and after 20yrs of working on and driving dang near every version ever made, I would still pick the C6 ZR1 over all the rest.
Lambo has made some beautiful cars....this isn't one of them.
Perhaps you should try and wipe clean your PC monitor and maybe just maybe see a whole lot clearer. The Murcielago SV is one of the best looking exotics Lamborghini has ever created. No word of a lie here.

Lol. The car is called a z r 1. Not a zee r 1 or zed r 1. English pronounce the letter z like it was intended to be said. It has nothing to do with accents. Either way epic car :)

What i was getting at is english people say the letter z as zed. Its not an accent thing. This how the english intended to say the letter many years ago. For some reason in the usa you guys decided to say it differently. Us english can quite happily say zee but why would we say that when the letter z was intended to be said like 'zed' . So if we see a car called Z R 1 we will call it a zed r 1. Not being a dick though mate :)

This is so biased, of course the vette could keep up with the lambo because the lambo was in front. The lambo driver had to judge turns and corners and he really couldnt push it to the limit. All the vette driver had to do was follow the lambo and keep similar speed. If the tables were turned im sure the lambo would keep up with the vette. Also the vette has horrible traction so im pretty sure with the lambos 4wd it would be able to puul turns faster.
I paid for mine in full from a dealer. I wanted to have the build your engine experience but I couldn't due to scheduling purpose. I went to a dealer. I said I wanted a ZR1. I was taken to an office with an assistant manager. I had to make a few calls to confirm that I really had to finances to afford it. Once I proved it, I showed them the build sheet from the website and told them that I want every option on it. I paid for it in full ahead of time and picked it up 7 weeks later.

Carbon fiber is now used on C6 ZR1 panels. The hood, front spoiler and roof panels are all made using carbon fiber composites. Carbon fiber panels are significantly stronger and lighter than SMC or press molded fiberglass panels. Carbon fiber has a greater tensile and compressive strength than fiberglass at a lower density resulting in stronger panels at lower weights.
The ZR1 vs SV makes one of the best duets I've ever heard.
Let me put some irony in this, I tested both of these cars randomly on the Indianapolis Road Coarse in Gran Turismo 5, their times are tenths of seconds from eachother. The Vette actually pulls a bit harder than the Lambo, but the lambo is more stable and the LP670 does in fact, as Jeremy Clarkson stated have "a suprising amount of understeer"
Both cars are beautiful. The Vette could keep up with the Super Veloce.The problem with the vette is the body just isn't that great for the price. Over 100k and it still looks too close to a stock one.

Great demo of how competent the C6 (possibly C5) and beyond corvettes are . Growing up I didn't care for Vettes as I found them too brutal in their power delivery, with little regard for suspension and driveability. But they've gotten to be extremely good cars. Keep in mind in this video, the Vette is still at a disadvantage being front engine. You can tell in the video a few times the Vette gets a little loose in the back and can't take corners with quite the finesse as the Lamb. That said, the new mid-engine C8 ZR1 is a supercar that can easily run up with the best of Europeans.
If you're comparing the ZR1 to such a "Plastic Tractor", that's even worse on your part.. Cause it's still kicking ass!

I think they're both pretty amazing cars. I'm an american so there's nothing like getting behind the wheel of a Corvette and feeling all that heritage flow through your veins. Never driven a Lamborghini so I can't really say, but I'd love too!
This is a great fun way to stack two cars up agaisnt one nother. It looks/feels far more like the road than a the racetrack, and is more entertaining. Id like more of this with better sounds/cameras etc. Good stuff

Apples to Oranges, Lambo all wheel drive, ZR1 RWD, $450,000 for Lambo, $112,000 for ZR1 and the car still staying up with this beast of SV. Not a fair race but I am impressed with ZR1.

There is a few ZR1 guys in Florida that got a new ZR1 recently for a mere 99K dollars for ZR1's that were left over after the arrival of the new 2014 Vettes and some of this guys challenge (bet) Lambo owners for a race and some of this Lambo owners were actually very scare and don't want to bet nothing. HA. Seen this scenario in south Florida recently several times. HA.
It is my next car, I've had Porsches, and 2 Z06s but man looking forward to a nice low mile 2010 or 2011. Should be in the $80's or $70K by then, SWEET car.

It's not the same thing. It's a proper supercar or some people call it a hypercar.
It is beautiful, a piece of art in it's own right. It doesn't only go fast but is one of the best looking things on earth right now.

This V12 is a Lamborghini in house design and can trace its roots to the 1960s.
The design is all Italian and it is built in Italy by Italians.
Both of these drivers have alot of skill.

Cars like the GT2 RS and Nissan GT-R posted just as fast times around the ring, on tyres you can use everyday on the street. The Vipers and Vettes which go around the ring use semi-slick tyres, that's why when you average Joe jumps into those cars on the basic tyres, they always end up going off the track/road.
I love how he doesn't mention the price of these cars. Bang for the buck, the Corvette has the Lambo beat...dollar for dollar.
I understand, but the ZR1 was not designed to appeal to people who need the best interior quality and stuff like that. It was designed to give the ultimate bang for buck.
The ZR1 at 100K dollars is a bargain.We tested a ZR1 back in July with a 0-60 in 3.772 and a Lamborghini Murcielago at 3.889 and the quarter of a mile at 11.449 for the ZR1 and 11.553 for the Murcielago, both test by a professional race driver from the state of Georgia , here in Florida in Miami. However,what I see with the Lambo is a "scandal" when you go out with that machine.Even with the super looks of the ZR1,most people associates the ZR1 as simply a Corvette.You never see a Lambo.
You are correct, I apologize for the incorrect statement on the ZR1 not running the mono leaf design. Just looked it up; my mistake on that part. That still doesn't change that I personally don't care for the design but hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it right?
To pick up someone to go get a coffee in the city on a warm summer day, I'd probably take the Lambo. On any other day and for any other occasion I could think of in 5 minutes, I'd take the ZR-1.

The ZR-1 isn't just a well-made car; it's motoring art and technology of the higest degree. Let's not forget craftmanship, gentlemen: The Vette has sodium-filled intake valves, titanium connecting rods, and variable-valve timing. The Italian car has none of the above; it just has more pistons (and far cheaper technology). And while both are handcrafted, the Vette is handcrafted by techs in the US. Italian workers for Lamborghini? Not nearly as talented or as educated...
I love the ZR1. Before you guys flame keep in mind the kind of build quality comes out of Europe. You get the whole package with the Murcielago, you get a great interior, you get an incredible V12, doors that go up, not to mention the thing is built to incredibly high standards and looks like a spaceship
The ZR1 is an incredible car, don't quote me but last time I checked corvettes outer body work is plastic. To me corvettes lack the "wow" factor that a Lamborghini offers.

that is an awsome piece of ROAD/track... we need more of those places around the world or major cities.
Just because something is faster and cheaper doesn't mean it's better, cars are about so much more than speed, they're about passion and character. No point in comparing a Murcielago and a Corvette, The Vette is a fast car, but the Lambo is just special, the essence of a supercar.
Steve should have taken the lead and seen if the Lambo could keep up.
He was clearly faster in many sections and probably would have pulled away from the Lambo.

the fact that he has to slow down multiple times to stop from passing the lambo says alot about the raw power of the corvette, i rather spend my money on the heart of the car than the name and the look
I'd have to say, I'd take the vette in this pairing, when it breaks as all cars do, I could actually afford to fix it, I was watching a deal in which they replaced a clutch in a lambo, the part itself was 2k, had to gut the thing to get the engine out, looked like they had to disassemble half the car.... so a clutch would run you around 5k in parts and labor, the vette, you could change in your driveway... in an afternoon and get one at the local auto parts place... actually if I truly had my choice.. I'd have a 69 charger black and chrome tinted.... done the way I like... hotchkins suspension, modern hemi from the hellcat and matching transmission.. then that'd be a car... not saying it would outrun anything, just be a joy to have and to drive...
Tim Vincent just throwing this out there but changing the clutch in a C5-C7 is not an afternoon job at all, nor would I want to do it in my driveway. Entire differential and trans at the rear have to come down along with the torque tube that runs to the front. At a shop it's at least a 2k job altogether.

This is VERY ironic...why..because in Gran Turismo 5 When I bought the LP670 I took it to the Daytona road coarse for a trail lap, and when I bought the ZR1 not too long after I took it to the same track...and they got the nearly the same time

I haven't driven a SV or ZR1 but I had the chance to do laps with AWD and RWD front engine and I have to say RWD is far more fun and gratifying. It's so hard to make a mistake with AWD, it just doesn't feel like an honest driving car. If you do make a mistake it just tends to understeer.

The SV specs are: 0-100kph - 3.2, 0-200kph - 9.7, 0-300kph - 29.7
ZR1 specs are: 0-100kph - 3.6, 0-200kph - 10.7, 0-300kph - 32.3

I get your point but America is also the largest market for companies like Farrari, Lambo, Porche, etc... we buy more of those cars than any other country. Just cause we make price point cars doesn't mean we are ignorant on what good cars are.

Honestly I don't live in a terribly rich area, (woodstock, GA) And i have seen 4 different GT-R's, 2 Lambo's,(Gallardo, Murcielago). The Gallardo is blacked out and actually lives right next door to one of my best friends, the guy that owns the lambo is only like 24, so i dont know how he afforded it. I have seen an old Ferrari 305 GT. Just recently I saw a Mclaren F1. Plus there is a car meet that happens every friday and saturday night near me and there are always cool cars there.
For everyone who's saying the lambo is better in every way, keep in mind how much cheaper that corvette is, and it can still keep up with the SV. that's the whole point of corvettes, sure they don't have quilted leather on the inside or 7 gearbox settings, but they are balls to the wall fucking fast
Volkswagen have put out a car called the XL1 and I am totally in love with it. I think it could be a world better in the way the beetle was. I love it not because its fast because it is not fast. Its just a fantastic machine in the same way Citroen DS, Concord and the SR71 were.
ZR1 is the only Corvette that doesn't run leaf springs so yes this Corvette handles better than the Lambo with 355 section tires. The highest performance Corvette with leaf springs is the Z06 and I believe even without the hp the Lambo would leave that for dead.
There is something to be said about the performance that Corvette has attained in running the mono leaf design. Hell it's a design that's been around for almost as long as the Corvette has been in production and I wouldn't for a second say that for being a street car with some track performance such as the Z06 that it's a bad or poor design. In my personal opinion and experience I think there's better setups with more to be gained while as you said having a more pleasant characteristic.

I drove my buddy's 335xi BMW and thought that it was marvelous. You'll the only person that I spoke to that have negative reviews on BMW. I say that the Germans have the best engineering because they made the first car, created forced induction, and developed the Porsche 918 spyder. Now tell me who is the real engineers and why??
Volkswagen have put out a car called the XL1 and I am totally in love with it. I think it could be a world better in the way the beetle was. I love it not because its fast because it is not fast. Its just a fantastic machine in the same way Citroen DS, Concord and the SR71 were. Form follows function and when something does a job well it is usually beautiful too.
