Diane, I love listening to your videos as much as watching them!! Whether its the animals, the determined swish of water cleaning your brush, you talking about being the new PM !! or things in general. I Love that you show us How you mix colors, don't clean your brush and go in the pans again !! You are teaching me to let go and I thank you for that !! You make it all look so easy. This is a lovely wreath, thanks for testing out this palette for/with us!!
Thanks so much for your comments Angel! So glad you enjoyed the videos, I have to say they are very enjoyable for me to do too! And even better when I read the comments!
Diane, it’s lovely to actually see you paint. Your viewing angles truly help when I replay to paint along to because I can literally see how your hand moves when making marks. Thanks for a very helpful video. 😊
I have this set and I LOVE it! I just didn’t like the purple/violet color so I added a pan of W&N professional Dioxazine purple. This and the 48 pan of Paul Rubens in the pink tin are some of my favorite “budget” paints. I guess they don’t have the 48 pan on Amazon anymore but the 24 is just as amazing if not better because you learn to mix a little better. I love Paul Rubens paints, I think they’re excellent for learning and beyond.
These are lovely, it I am totally hooked on the Kuretaki set plus the starry light set. Thank you for telling us all about paints so we know what’s out there! Love the lesson too! Take care of yourself.❤️
They're fine, and certainly good value for money. But personally I prefer the bigger pans of the Kuretake set. It's just a habit thing. Glad you enjoyed the little wreath!
You just painted that out of testing those paints and it looks amazing 😍. You're so good at that. I liked those paints even the weak ones 🤭. You made them look wonderful as usual. Thanks Diane 🙂
Thanks for reviewing these paints. They look great. Loving the brightness of the colors. Or it could just be your wreath that made them look good! Either way I may try them out myself.
Oh my, I was watching your 3-hour long tutorial and I had to come over here and see what paints you are using... they look so much like MeiLiang! 😂 Beautiful palette and wonderful colors. ❤
@DianeAntoneStudio I believe MeiLiang is Paul Rubins off-label 'student grade'. Then they seem to have an amateur grade and different generations of professional grade? I find the brand a little confusing... I jumped from MeiLiang to Daniel Smith, but it is still one of my 'play' sets.
Just noticed your superthanks Marie and THANKS SO MUCH for your SUPER GENEROUS donation!!!!! Really appreciate it love from Diane and Tamsin and the Crew!
I noticed a difference right away in the channel settings. Minor, but looks good! Interesting paints, ones that have loads of pigment! It’s so fun to watch you mix…a pro that knows her colors….always continued process for me. Thank you again for the lesson….!
It takes a long time to learn how to mix paint intuitively Denise. Don’t beat yourself up if you have to follow some guidelines to get there for awhile. But I do recommend trying to break away from the conventional. For example one of my most useful set of greens comes from mixing purple with yellow or black with lemon yellow. Get some great slutty darks that way!
Hi Diane, thank you for the great review on the paints. I have used Paul Rubens paper and for the price I thought it was good. I am a beginner so my opinion may not be worth much.
On the contrary Penney, your opinion is very valuable. As a beginner you are very sensitive to good and bad paper. Once you are more experienced you will be more able to disregard the quality of the paper and paint no matter what. So it’s always very helpful to hear from beginners what they think of any product. So thank you for contributing, and I hope you’re enjoying your painting journey!
Yes possibly, but I’m just used to having the intensity adjusted by the manufacturer so that one doesn’t get caught out by sudden over or under egging so to speak.
Hi there, to tell you the truth I don’t think I’ve ever noticed much difference. As long as you wet the pans before you start they should release quite a bit of colour. I do think that in general if you are painting large pictures though you need to use tube colours because you need access more quickly to paint than you can get with the pans. But for small things pans are fine. I like the large pans of Kuretake sets and their colours are very very strong. Hope this helps!
Thank you for showing us these. I was wondering about them. I really like the tin...and I have their shiny colors which are really nice to use, especially on top of normal colors. But I am like you, I prefer large pans. Maybe they have these paints in tubes as well.
The manufacturers told me that they are out of stock of the Professional grade tubes. You can find their tubes of professional Neon and the Student grade watercolors on Amazon, but not the tubes of Professional. I did originally ask them to send me the tubes but they said they didn't have any and couldn't say when, so I took the tin instead. I'll make them work for me somehow!
I love your paintings and your style. I have to ask what brush(es) do you use to create such fine lines. I don’t seem to have anything like that. Thank you. 😊
I’m using a Maestro brush from Japan which I order direct from the company. You can too. If you want more information you can contact Drawell from their website. Let me know if you can’t find the reference in the description below. I think that the brushes are very good value for money - they have two ranges, one red and one black. The red one is a great workhorse brush, and the black one is extremely good for fine work.
Can you please point me to where you buy your paint brushes and sizes. Also , what small size did you use in this lovely painting. I cannot find what I saw on this last evening...it was helpful...did not write it down, sorry. Love watching your channel.
Hi Mary, I get the brushes made by this manufacturer, "Drawell" brushes in Japan. They are very inexpensive, and if you order several the postage isn't too bad, they still work out at a good price. The ones I use are Golden Nylon Series 11-2, and I use mostly sizes 7or 9 and 10 and 13. I also use the Maestro ones, and I have sizes 3, 5 and 7 for more detailed work as they have a better point. Here's the website. The owner is a very friendly and polite Japanese gentleman. If you email him he will send you a pricelist in dollars. www.drawell.co.jp/english/product.html
If you buy yourself a few good quality round nylon brushes you will do fine. I suggest the Princeton Snap brushes for beginners. Something like this amzn.to/3VrYTZU

Yes, the angles that you place each leaf or berry makes the eye see how they flow into a circle. Thanks for the demo.

What a great way to try out new colors and blending
I love my Paul Rueben paints!
I used to get excited about a new lipstick colour ! Now it’s watercolour paints 😂😂❤
The wreath is lovely! These may not be the best but the colours are gorgeous.

Loved this sweet little wreath. Enjoyed watching how you put the colors to paper to experiment with your new colors. Such fun.
Thank you so much!

Strange how all the Chinese paints are so similar to one another… :)

Thanks for the color tips. I have been adding to my paint collection. Thanks for another great video.

My first palette was Paul Ruben paint. Love them
Yes, I think they are very good. I'd like to try some of the other colors they do.
Love this painting. I will try it. Like how you talk about the different products.
Thanks Kathleen!
Beautiful
Always so helpful when you show us how products work, Diane😊

I'm glad you like the violet. Each color and density of product has its place depending on the intent.
Yes possibly, but I’m just used to having the intensity adjusted by the manufacturer so that one doesn’t get caught out by sudden over or under egging so to speak.
Diane, I wonder what you think. Generally, are the solid paints brighter than using watercolors from a tube?

Oh I saw those on Amazon. I l almost bought them just for the beautiful pallette.
Or maybe it's called a tin palette.
LOL!
😊
