So, it is possible to place things on top of each other, and closer together *if* you're willing to do it the ol'timey "Oblivion" way (holding "A" or "X" over an item and then using the crosshairs to move it, the left joystick to alternate the axis, and the left and right triggers to turn it). It's wonky as hell, and takes forever, but it'll allow you to stack dishes and place more than 4 books on a shelf...eventually. Lol
That's an option but as soon as anyone goes near the stuff you place that way it'll go flying. The advantage of using the build menu to place things is that they become static, avoiding that issue. BGS might improve things in a future update but I've got a hunch that in the end that manual placement will become the best option though, once we get a mod that will make objects static, much like we had in Fallout 4.
Very nicely done. I own the bigger of the two places in Akila. I built a bed, one chest, couch, two chairs and a table. One day when I stop going “ oh what’s that, oh what’s that over there” I’ll eventually make it back to decorate lol.
Nice cozy little place. I wouldn't mind staying there if it were in a back alley of NY, London, or Hong Kong. I can't wait till we get some dlc to enhance stuff. Enjoyed the video! Cheers!
The apartment looks pretty nice. I can't be bothered to buy it as I just live on my ship lol. Also, it sounds like a Starfield version of the Place Anywhere mod from Fallout 4 would be useful for this game as well.
Tbh, in a practical sense I'll probably live on my ship too. Having somewhere to store and display things is nice though and building/decorating is fun for its own sake too. I'm not too sure about place anywhere as I never used it in FO4. I could see it being useful to get things placed a bit closer together though. That's pretty much what the issues with this apartment boil down too.
Looks like Bethesda needs to give the ability to switch out the ridiculously dim lighting for brighter lighting. I detest the dim lighting in this game. Both from room lighting to the unreliable light levels from your "flashlight/torch" the character has. Hope they patch that soon. Also been enjoying your living space building/decorating videos since Fallout 76. Gives me a lot of ideas for my own in-game living spaces. Cheers!
You always go the extra mile with your builds brother, you're just like me. You've been one of my main inspirations for building for a while. Probably THEE inspiration. Just gotta bring myself to record and upload some tours of my own. Would love to see what you think, if I had the honor lol Sick detail in here. Nothing pops out more than loads of crap at the bottom of the stairs.
Thanks! Loads of crap under the stairs felt like a must. It's an enclosed space in my house but otherwise... much the same! 😂 You can always send me a link on twitter if you want to show me a build. That's probably the easiest option.
i didn't think to buy this place tbh now i'm rethinking it for my next playthrough, it'd also be nice to have at least the make world objects static for our ship interior. And yeah along with lighting i'd like to see some fences for outpost building
I'm pleased to see Bethesda incorporating that into the building mechanics. It would be cool to have it in spaceships too. I suspect we'll have to rely on mods for that though. I'm wondering if it might interfere with ship building though. As it is everything gets stored when you modify a ship if it's static I wonder whether that might not work. 🤷♂️ I'm hoping to see them change that storage system when modifying ships, but if they go with deleting stuff instead that could cause problems too.
@@DarthXionGames I mean we can use the armoury on the ship to display weapons, and those default back to the ships inventory when you change it so it's not an unrealistic idea. Though yeah I spend to much time selling or jettisoning a great deal of misc stuff after modifying my ship..
All the stuff that gets moved isn't static though. I'm not quite sure about the mechanics of the armoury displays. They're more like containers I think which may make a difference to how they're able to move stuff to the cargo. Or maybe modders will come up with something that works fine. We'll have to see I guess.
It's in the menu with the other beds. You might not have unlocked it yet though. The outpost engineering skill will open up a bunch of options at the research station that will expand on what you can build.
You can still buy CDs, and those portable players. It's kinda like vinyl, go out for awhile then brought back later for nostalgia. Was in Walmart the other day and was blown away when I saw vinyl records being sold again. What's next 8 track tapes?
Vinyl never really went away though. There's always been some around even in places like hmv. I imagine CDs will be similar as they took off so spectacularly. Tapes though I don't see making a comeback. Those portable CD players though we're trash at the best of times. I wouldn't even know where to look for one now, which given that digital files and Spotify don't skip when you walk isn't really surprising. We came across one in a museum on stream tonight though, and that seems like the appropriate place for them! 😂
@@DarthXionGames wo wo hold up, where'd you come across a portable cd player in a museum? I also doubt you're old enough to know what an 8 track player is to be honest, I remember them cause , well I was there, LOL. Normal cassette tapes I doubt will ever make a come back, but the reference to 8 track specifically was more a joke than anything else, gotta be an age thing. LOL no worries, I'm just old.
@@DarthXionGames I had a car with an 8 track player, lol, and a stereo that was a big as a couch that had both a turntable and an 8 track player. Gonna have to check out Titan now.
@oldman1973 I've got my dad's old stereo. No 8 track and the record deck sadly wore out ages ago, (not that I have vinyl anyway), but it's still a chunky set up. Never heard anything else quite like those old speakers either. 🔥
If you're following on from the way that storyline starts on Tau Ceti you're on the right track. It's a good chunk of the way through the questline before it unlocks though.
I'm not quite sure which bit you're referring too but I'd guess you're a little way off yet. If you keep working through the questline you'll get a whole bunch of significant rewards about half way through the story including being able to buy the apartment.
You can't place a pen on a notepad but you can drop a pen onto a notepad and there's a chance it won't just bounce off... Also, what level of outpost building do you have that you unlocked the big bed? I have to place two singles next to each other at 0 building skills.
I have rank 3 unlocked, though I think there's at least one double bed available without any ranks. I'd double check you have researched everything you can. If not it was probably rank one.

I'm planning to pick up as many of the houses as I can. I've started picking up piles of clutter now to decorate with..😎

It does have that old city back street vibe. That's definitely one thing I do like about the place.
"Daaaaaaaaamn!" - me as soon as you opened the door after the furnishing.
Thank you kindly! 😊

I'm surprised we e don't have better lighting options tbh. Hopefully we'll get something added soon.

Nice. Can you fast travel to the apartment like you can to the Lodge or do you have to go through several loading screens?
Good question. I don't know actually, I haven't looked! 🤔

There's a museum on Titan with some very random old earth objects in it.

You should have access to both then. I'll be doing a video on the penthouse soon too. It's going to take a while to get done though.
for all of the old stuff..head to titan
