    This was the birth of metal , it arrived screaming and kicking into the world . Imagine the effect of this musical mayhem on kids , this was in a world before mobile phones and personal computers . For most it would have 2 tv channels in black andWhite, the kids would have listened to Soul Motown TheBeatles The Stones and this came along . I first saw Sabbathi in 1973 and this music has lasted.

    Absolute classic Sabbath, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward giving it some… and more with Ozzy screaming out the vocals! It was actually a protest track about the Vietnam War. The original title for the song was Walpurgis, which was more about evil, witches and Satanism, but got changed to Warpigs when the connection with the Vietnam war was suggested by the lyrics; in fact when performing live the lyrics could change depending upon the audience.

    "War Pigs" - one of my Black Sabbath's favorite. The composition and virtuosity aside I think the lyrics are brilliant and universal even today - especially regarding a new European war raging. War Pigs will never die out, they only change their appearance and flags ...

    The guitarist Tony Iommy got his tips of his fingers on his left hand cut of in a factory he worked at right before they were to go on tour and he made his own rubber prosthetic finger tips so he wouldn’t cause the band to miss any shows .if you look at the video during the guitar solo you can see them .

  • @DRAONWEED
    @DRAONWEED Год назад +7

    Black Sabbath are without a doubt the founding fathers of Heavy Metal music. The deep dark tone they played at was accidental. They tuned down Tony Iommi's guitar after he suffered an industrial accident the day before going into the recording studio for the first time, severing the tips of 2 of his fingers on his right hand. So he could continue to play, they fabricated plastic fingertips for him & he tuned down his guitar to drop-D giving that deep tone notorious in heavy metal, the first band to do it. If you want a good laugh, watch the video where Ozzy meets Mac Sabbath, it's hilarious. ruclips.net/video/hAYZ6mEwLsY/видео.html

    My personal Diary I wrote the next day after the last show of Randy Rhoads in Knoxville Tennessee! RIP RANDY! YOU ARE SORELY MISSED!
    OZZY OSBOURNE: THURSDAY MARCH 18TH 1982: RANDY RHOADS LAST SHOW AT THE KNOXVILLE CIVIC COLISEUM: DIARY OF A MADMAN TOUR:
    Upon entering the coliseum after buying my tour shirt and ticket 🎫 stub processing: I noticed the stage was set up like a medieval castle with arches and bats 🦇 flying around the top of them. There was a staircase leading up to Tommy Aldridge’s Drumkit. The top left of Tommy was where Donny Airey’s keyboards were set up. Stage right and left had to cages with which Randy Rhoads would appear from the floor stage right and Rudy Sarzo stage left. OZZY had a throne of which he would appear out of to start the show to Over the Mountain. Tommy had his drum tech dressed as an Executioner stand beside his kit with his arms crossed. The staircase had a small section that would open and a small dwarf named: Ronnie (after Ronnie James Dio the new singer for Black Sabbath-replacing OZZY) and hand OZZY towels and water between songs. Little did we all know that later in the show: the executioner would bring the dwarf out to be hung from the rafters and later he would cut off his head using a guillotine! At the end of the show OZZY climbed onto a giant mechanical hand that OZZY stood on top of and launched unspecified meat 🥩 🍖 into the audience! Of course it was all an a theatrical act as the dwarf appeared to take a bow with OZZY and the band. When OZZY smiled we noticed he put vampire 🧛‍♀️ teeth in! We laughed hard! I went to the show with my friend Richard and his older brother Greg who was 18 at the time. We were 13. Greatest show on earth! Richard and I were both terrified and thrilled at what we witnessed! Unfortunately the next morning all that excitement and energy was gone as we learned that Randy Rhoads perished in a plane crash in Florida. Richard and I played drums but Greg played guitar 🎸 and he definitely took it the hardest! One of the greatest guitarist of our generation and had just won the new guitarist of the year by Guitar Player magazine. Rest In Peace Randy Rhoads your music lives on!
    Sincerely,
    Gary Lagstrom

    Great band and a cool tune whose lyrics are true even today sadly
    If you look closely at the guitar player (Tony Iommi) you will see he has plastic tips on two of his fingers......he had an accident at a workplace and cut the tips off both fingers......he made some plastic tips himself and taught himself to play again using the tips

    First of all, yes, of course this vocalist is Ozzy, no doubt about it - his style, the way he sings... second, yes, you're right, Bill Ward killed It! But, in my opinion, we can't forget to mention the amazing performance in this video and in each and every Sabbath's concert of this guy - one of the greatest guitarists ever - Tony Iommi!! In the 70's, we saw the birth and growth of heavy metal bands, each one with a great guitarist, and the best ones were Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple) and Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath). Suggestions of Sabbath's songs to react to: "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath"; "Black Sabbath"; "A national acrobat"; "Paranoid"; "N.I.B."; "Changes"; "The shining".

    Yes, that’s the same Ozzy as the zombie shell you see today. You have to remember; what seems so, not so out of the ordinary today, was extremely extraordinary back then. I was shocked seeing Sabbath back then. Didn’t know what to think because there was really nothing to compare them to, at that time. They were like a Halloween nightmare, set to music. They were something else.

    Hi Inna great Reaction as usual from you. I quite enjoy how you catch the spirit and get right into so many styles of music. Did you notice that Bill Ward was banging those drums with the heavy end of his sticks? I didn't notice until someone pointed it out in a comment. He was a fantastic power drummer and I'd hate to accidentally get my hand in between his sticks and his skins LOL Tony lommi the lead guitarist had the top 1/3rd of 2 his fingertips on his right hand cut off in an industrial accident (sheet metal) before they made it big and had to get some custom designed prosthetics made to be able to become one of the top guitarists in the world again.
    Love how this supposedly Satanic Metal Band spoke of the immorality of our dear ''War Pigs" and how God will judge them as sinners and punish them as they are on their knees snivelling and begging for mercy. I soooo look forward to Judgement day when all politician War Pigs finally get their well deserved eternal torment in Hell for profiteering off of their ''Crimes Against Humanity!

    This is the difference between classic/heavy metal and modern metal genres which typically favors incoherent screaming vocals (we all know Ozzy is more coherent when he sings than when he speaks), monotonous blast beats, and non-melodic song structure. Great choice for a reaction! 👍😎

    Those drums still have a restraining order out against Bill.
