- I love this band! This Video is in no way a jab or to be taken in a negative way ! in my opinion Xero has done an amazing job and I really appreciate how well he performs these songs. this is a side by side comparison on how awesome of a job he has done! what do you think? please comment! let me know your thoughts on the direction of this band and if you think Edsel Dope is indeed the infamous Xero? R.I.P Wayne!

I saw static x with Wayne 14 times. Once so far with Edsel. They could not possibly have picked a better person to do justice to Wayne

You're absolutely right. I've been a Dope fan since Life and never in my wildest dreams would I have thought it be so, but Edsel is absolutely the only person I'd ever want behind that microphone since Wayne passed.
He proved to me, long ago, that he is unbelievably talented and criminally underrated when he released Makeshift Romeo with Tripp.

Indeed, I shall keep calling him Xer0 out of respect but yes, he sounds eerily like Wayne. 100%? Nah, but he is absolutely close. The mannerisms, energy, growling vocals, everything, all present and accounted for, and it all sounds amazing. His presence is ominous, just like Wayne's. I have to hand it to Static-X, they didn't just hire a new vocalist and call it good. This was a labor of love from them and it shows.

He definitely has a lot of power in his voice.. Wayne would be proud of his band today if he saw them.
For someone to give up their own identity to carry another is pretty damn cool and selfless. credit to Edsel, normally bands just evolve to new band members, this is something else.

I think Edsel was a fan of Wayne. He's really giving his best.
In an interview, Tony says that Edsel and Wayne were really good friends. And with Dope and Static-X touring a lot together, Edsel knows Wayne’s movements, picked up on his style of writing and vocal approach. IMO, they couldn’t have picked a better person to help resurrect Static-X.

No one can replace Wayne but Edsel is doing a fantastic job(if it's him wink wink). On top of that Dope is my favorite band. Can't wait to see them both live in March

Absolutely love how Static-X continues to live, and how they pay homage to Wayne during their shows. Xero kills it.
Indeed, they couldn't have picked a better man to fill in the huge boots Wayne left behind when he passed. The sheer amount of love the band shows to their fallen comrade is just insane. Adding to this, the Wells family gave their blessings, there's an interview of Xer0 where he talks of when he met with the family, and holy shit, it eliminated all doubt about whether or not it is a cheap cash in on the name. Hint: It isn't
I can't wait to see them live next year. A friend of mine whom is also a huge X-head is getting tickets and wants the VIP package too so we can meet them in person. I intend fully to shake Xer0's hand and tell him that he's a hero for bringing Static-X back from the dead, and tell the rest of the band that they are doing an incredible job of paying homage as well.

One of the very rare examples of where “just be yourself” doesn’t apply. Edsel is amazing as Xer0.
Anyone who is a Static-X fan, even from the beginning, needs to go to one of these shows. I saw them twice with Xer0 (yes we all know who it is but out of respect I refer to him as such) and oh my God they were some of the best shows I have ever been to. It was as if I was a kid again listening to Wisconsin Death Trip for the first time and it was like Wayne was still at the helm. An amazing experience and Dope is incredible live as well.

Aye, Xer0 sounds eerily like the Static man himself. They couldn't have picked a better vocalist to take front after the original band reunited. Wayne is one of a kind, and he is absolutely missed, but Xer0 is as close to perfection as you can get. He nails the vocals, movements and has a ridiculous amount of energy too.
seen the OG line up in 2004, was one of the best shows i had ever been to, ive seen them twice with xero now and it is just as fun, not the same without wayne obviously but the energy and groove is still there
I was a fan from the moment Machine was released. It blew my head off.
I immediately bought Wisconcen Death Trip...one listen and I was stunned at how phenomenal a debut it was.
I still play Static X to this day regularly and Wisconcen is still my favourite album of theirs tho I absolutely love all their music and Wayne's solo album is epic too.

I think it's sick. Xero functioning as an android version of Wayne is such a cool tribute.
Xero sounds like Wayne in 99s - best era of Wayne's vocals for me.
I got to see Static-X play probably around the year 2000. Still one of the best performances I've seen.
This whole gimmick with the face mask has turned out phenomenal for this band and I'm really glad everyone is pretty much accepting of it. I don't think they could find anybody better to do it.

You should hear him do "Cold" live, holy fucking shit, I got shivers up my spine during the chorus, that's how powerful and ominous he is. Much like the Static man himself. Seriously, I dunno if it's Edsel or not but whomever Xer0 is, they couldn't have picked a better person to help ressurect the band.

He may be the best fill in we have available but Wayne was so unique that you just can't copy him.
Xer0 sounds eerily like Wayne, not 100% like him but holy fucking shit does he nail the mannerisms, energy, growling vocals, everything, down pat! This is not simply Static-X slapping a new lead singer on their band and calling it good. This is them showing their love for Wayne, and their regret that they were never able to make amends with him before his untimely passing. A labor of love and a show of respect for him and it shows. They are doing this right folks, I hope they keep this up even after Project Regeneration Volume 2 releases. Can't wait to hear "All These Years" live if they perform it. Because that is my favorite song off Volume 1.
Tonally edsel is more on the higher end of it but man you really see just how close their vocals are and I love that, definitely a great choice for the spot
I love what they did by creating a new character based on Wayne, an incredibly creative way to do something right. Oddly, I was thinking of this yesterday and today it shows up in my feed. I'm pretty sure my phone is reading my mind.

I've seen Static-X at least 20 times in my life before Wayne past. And I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see him that many times. I miss him every single day
Wow! That’s incredible, and you paid well tribute fandom and support to Static-X!! I’ve been to almost 40 concerts now in my lifetime, but I have not seen any one band more than three times live. That will soon change for me though in the near future! I plan on seeing Static-X again once they have their Rise of the Machine Tour (which was postponed until 2023) at House of Blues, Chicago!!
Nobody can replace Wayne, but that’s not the point. Xero is who was needed to carry the torch in honor of. Like many others I’ve seen static x in the late 90’s and early 2000’s up close and from a distance, every show was killer, I imagine these shows now are even better, and rightfully so. Keep on killin it!
I do like the way Xero is carrying static on, and the vocals are awesome Wayne, but at the end of the day R.I.P Wayne, you will always be a legend

Xer0 recognizes that, and isn't trying to replace Wayne. He's showing a huge amount of respect to his fallen comrade, and he's doing so with the blessings of the Wells family to boot.

I had tickets to see Wayne static and pm5k 13 days after his death. Edsel is doing an amazing job keeping his legacy alive.
David Williams from drowning pool passed day before I was going to see them.. I still went to the show.. what effed is that people was PISSED that they did play demanding money back and jazz.. like the dude just passed away.. people are asses for sure

Edsel is a rockstar in Dope. But he knows that Static X is not “his” band. I love the costume and I love that he makes Wayne Static look good even after he’s been deceased for years.

Both live performance recording have bad quality, not much fair comparing with such bad audio quality, but thank you anyways for the video.

No one can replace Wayne, he was one of a kind but Xero....Edsel does Wayne credit snd I have seen them live with Edsel and they were still phenomenal.
We still miss Wayne in the same manner as Kurt, Chris Cornell, Layne Stayley and Scott Weiland and all the other passed on greats.
Still wish the current line up well too and hopefully they play the UK again soon.

I went & seen static x 8-6-22 in council bluffs ia. I wasn't real enthused to see them. To me Wayne is static x. I'll tell you they kicked ass. Edsel/xero isn't wayne but he did one hell of tribute to him. I am going to see them again in april 2023 & can't wait to see them again. In my opinion they killed it & blew rob zombie, mudvayne & powerman 5000 off the stage.

Mudvayne did steal the show at Tinley Park, IL’s Hollywood Casino venue, where I saw them, Static-X, Powerman 5000, Rob Zombie as the headliner..but honestly I love and give respects most to Static-X. One hell of a performance by the entire band of Static-X; Xer0’s vocals are high-octane, and well-delivered. His stage presence even near matches that of the late, great Wayne Static. I now have seen Static-X live three times!! Unfortunately, none of those live performances were when Wayne was alive 😞
@@blkspiderstryker i got to see static x 6 times with wayne & seen wayne 3 times solo. I was supposed to see him again with powerman 5000 & he died the day before the show. I met him in lincoln ne, he was high energy at first & than he calmed down & was just really nice down to earth guy.

I saw the tour in Dallas. It was nothing less than respectful to Wayne and a perfect tribute.
I saw Wayne perform back in 04, and loved every minute of it. Glad to know that Edsel is doing him justice. Love Dope too.

I agree fully it has been a GREAT way to bring back the band.....And a GREAT tribute to Wayne. BUT....there will only ever be one Wayne. Edsel is bad ass on his own merit. I suggest at any random show he come out as himself and Continue the Mighty Static X that way. We will never forget Wayne, he was a true trail blazer in this music. But, Edsel is too.....and he shouldn't have to live in the shadow of someone else forever.
I (like many other Static-X fans I'm sure) was skeptical of the band's attempt to replace Wayne with anyone. I've seen Static-X twice with Edsel/Xero and got goose bumps pretty much the entire performance. One of the only bands who've successfully been able to maintain not only it's musical integrity but also pay great tribute to such a gifted soul. RIP Wayne.

I'm going for the 1st time in July and then next April I will be going again, am *new* to static-x, I knew who they were but never really listened, saw they were coming soon and was like ok, lets listen... waynes voice Ive heard several times but didnt place it... Sad I missed his shows but I'm ready to see this!! *This video is what I was looking for to see just how close it was gonna be*
Its basically a Steve Perry, Arnel Pineda situation. Their voices are almost identical, but you can spot the differences easily if you listen close enough

It kind of pissed me off when I first heard about it but they seem to have done it the right way. Was never a fan of Dope at all but Edsel is doing a fine job in Static. I have to admit it's kind of weird to see though.

Damn great show and Xero did an amazing job, great fit but honestly, the void left from Wayne could never possibly be filled. To me, StaticX will never be StaticX without Wayne. I had very mixed emotions.
