Making excuses for a lack of effort is part of the reason why he doesn't have a team now. When your attitude outweighs your talent, your out of work in the NFL.
Been a panther fan literally from day 1 and this was by far the most heartbroken I've ever been as a football fan. It crosses my mind every single day at some point. Also my tar heels lost the championship that year with a last second (literally) 3 pointer. Great and horrible year for me as a sports fan
Sucks that cam didn't want that smoke. Sucks worse that he deflected when asked about not diving for the fumble. Obviously he thought about the concussions, figured his lineman would get it anyhow, or at least hoped he would. So, as a panthers fan, how do you feel about him being back? Seems to me they got him for sales and marketing purposes, and not to compete, but lots of fans love him no matter what, which I think is lame. If I'm McCaffrey, the true gamer that he is, I'd be disappointed deep down.
Tarheels were lucky to be tied and the NCAA gifted them one the next year after they lawyered up and denied creating fake classes to keep athletes eligible. Yeah, must really suck to be a fan of college basketball's golden child...
Cam was a positive energy on the football field. I think people were jealous of him being true to himself. There is life after football. He is financially secure. I always liked what Cam did for communities to help less fortunate.
Lol. And he did everything he possibly could, to not win that season. 9tds to 18ints, "injured foot", and basically got benched for Brock Osweiler. Before getting the job back, because Brock showed you, you couldn't trust him during a playoff run. If it wasn't for that defense, Peyton wouldn't have gotten close, to winning the chip that year.
I love the people accusing the nfl of being rigged 🤣 look at Denver’s defense that year they had the best stats in every major category Peyton almost got benched for the playoffs if it wasn’t for Brock fucking up the last game 🤣. Damn there’s a lot of nutcases in the comments
Zach Ingram obviously your one of the many ignorant dumb People, all the sports and entertainment is set up for money or their own people especially qbs like Manning. It's all entertainment under law just like WWE or basically entertainment slavery why do you think they don't pay collage and stopped the collage football games on consoles because they didn't even want to pay for player likenesses.
VW DT right. He got carried to the championship by the bronco season. The guy was 38 and dealt with serious neck injuries and yes he injured his foot. He probably could’ve retired much earlier than he actually did so the fact that he was even playing at that point was pretty remarkable. His game had took a sharp turn at that point but that doesn’t mean he didn’t deserve it
Peyton Manning is one of my favorite quarterbacks of all time, but in Super Bowl 50 he threw for half as many yards as Cam Newton, rushed for 0 yards compared to Newton’s 45 yards-neither QB threw touchdown and both turned the ball over. Gee, I wonder why the Broncos won the game 24 to 10...Football is a “team” sport.
@@elihathaway6784 He did have an interception lmfao🤣🤣🤣 It was fuckin right before halftime. I shud kno bcuz that int saved me from losing a bet so I shud kno. Denver was in fg range already so thank the lord.
The Bronco defense came after him relentlessly. It would seem he wasn’t prepared for the Broncos, as the more he got chased and hit, the more tentative his play became.
It was the most bizarre thing. I’ve seen him dive headfirst into piles during 7 win seasons. His original shoulder injury was running down a DB after an interception. But not doing in the SB? Something was off.
Joshua Kovacic and he was able to come back from it now he’s a super bowl mvp and winner and is gonna be first ballot hall of fame can’t say the same about cam
The whole season Cam was laughing and having a good time. For some reason in the Super Bowl, even during the warmups, he had this serious look about him and didn't look comfortable at all. I thought for sure he got some bad news before the game or something.
You're right. He was confident, cocky and very braggadocious all season. And for good reason, his team went 15-1, won the NFC and he was league MVP. He couldn't stop gloating that year. Every time a camera was present,. he always had something to say, Then, he gets his ass kicked and becomes belligerent and petulant. Like a spoiled ass brat kid. Cam got humbled by that Broncos D. Good to see it too. It shows what kind of character he doesn't have. He wins and brags. He loses and cries
But you're taking it out of context. That game was meaningless for the Chargers. Brees goes out, who cares if they win or lose, hell they had a good enough team for any acceptable QB to play efficiently (although obviously not at Brees level). The Panthers only shot at winning that Super Bowl was Cam Newton. He carried them to the game and if anyone had a chance to win it, it's him. He would of gotten injured on that play, and then Panthers lose, no chance, Derek Anderson ain't winning that game even at his best. They ultimately lost but him not diving protected his health which was the greatest asset the Panthers had at that time; a healthy Cam.
Austin Stone That’s just it though. Panthers were losing & Cam getting hurt would hurt the team. He had played so well in the previous 18 games that he thought he could make up for it if he stayed healthy. But I do get your point.
@Joe Cool Berry no disrespect but if he wins that ring and has a decent career he will be in the hall of fame without it with a decent or above average career it would be hard to imagine Cam newton in the Hall of fame
"It's hard to imagine a cognitive thought was even processed" Bull 💩 if you grow up playing football you know protecting the football is EVERYTHING. It literally becomes instinct to dive on the ball anytime it's on the ground. He made the conscious decision to not dive on that ball. He may have had his reasons, but this is the super bowl! No reason is good enough to not get that ball at all costs.
Bro just got done covering Cam’s own explanation for not diving on the ball then defended cam by saying he didn’t have time to have a cognitive thought lmao well done guy
I coach youth football for 25 years and in practice my boys were never allowed to jump on a fumble, but we did run fumble drill in practice to lower the chance of an injury. And never wanted my QB to sacrifice his body, I had other players to do that
I always felt from looking at the play that at 1st, Cam thought he'd be able to scoop the ball up and continue the play- but then the denver lineman got his hand on it as he is standing near the boy. Now once he's THAT CLOSE to the ball, and other players around the ball, THEN AT THAT POINT it's an awkward movement to go straight down on it, and instinct would be to NOT to fall on it due to injury.
That Broncos defense was one of the greatest ever. The Panthers offense that season was one that overwhelmed the opposition with brute force. But unlike any other team they played that season they were unable to dominate the line of scrimmage against the Broncos. It shut down their entire offense.
@@sheabuddhah1672 They would have just kicked me out of the league. I would have recovered the fumble. Then get a game winning touchdown. And thought to myself 🖕Peyton riding off in the sunset.

He shouldn't be judged because he didn't want to speak to the media who at the point seemed like they were blaming just cam.
I know what you mean but when you use the media to make your name bigger and bigger by little antics and putting on a show for them then they will feel you owe them to answer their questions after a tough loss. It's pretty hypocritical to accept the fame they help you achieve but then run and hide when you had a bad game. In other words, if you live by the sword you die by the sword.
Yes but he had no problems with rubbing the other teams face when he was winning. Also he is supposed to be a “ professional”. No sympathy for the proms Donna.
If I don't recall Russell Wilson answers all the questions ask of him the year before right after he thrown an interception to lose SB 49 at the 2 yard line when they should of given the ball to Beast mode. It was easy for Newton to talk to the media when he was winning and showing off. But hey who doesn't want the M.V.P. to have the ball with just minutes left and down by 6 against one of the greatest defense in history in a Super Bowl. Go Broncos

@@datboigeurmoc3626 Patrick Mahomes played through a broken ankle to win a superbowl. Cam Newton is a grown man not a fragile 12 year old. Though he acts like one
I'm really starting to believe the NFL is rigged. Someone told Cam in his helmet mic don't fall on that ball, giving the fan favorite Payton Manning his second Super Bowl before retiring.
People hated Cam, especially the league, because he played for the Panthers. A small market team. Big money over small market always. It's been the same formula for a long time.
@Marshon MVP King Ok Cam dives, TJ ward hits him helmet to helmet, also Ware is on him and I think two more Dline men were there, Cam not only gets a concussion but is out of the game an wait his throwing arm is hurt too an might not play football again, yea definitely worth it
@Marshon MVP King he couldn't the QB is strictly taught not to join piles if it was only a couple around the ball sure but he already was having head and shoulder issues that might've made it worse
I don’t know why he didn’t just grab the ball and strip it from Ware. It looks like it was possible after watching it now, but when I watched it in real time; I truly believed he didn’t jump on the ball half hazardously because of the way D Ware had his arm stretched out. His elbow is just about pointing straight upwards at the very moment, plus his hand is on the ball. There is a lot of space between his arm and the ground. I think Cam knew if he would have jumped on the ball he would have broken Ware’s arm, elbow, or shoulder. Or all for that matter. BIG UPS to Cam. I think he’s more than people give him credit for.
Sports are sold out, nothing to respect. Cam "hesitated, choked" because manning was retiring and the bigger name has to go out with a bang, not retire losing to some chump. Retjring with a ring solidifies mannings name forever in the industry necause of it mannings market rose instead of dropping and his face is everywhere now.
I can't remember for sure, but I think Cam took a nasty helmet to helmet shot during that game before the fumble. Maybe he had a concussion when that fumble happened. Maybe he couldn't think clearly. Cam really hasn't been the same since that game. Much like Vernon Davis wasn't the same after he was hit while defenseless in an NFC championship game in Seattle. Jimmy Graham was never the same after getting knocked out in an NFC championship game in San Francisco. Pretty sure Cam took a huge hit in that game.
I'd sure hate to be giving everything I possibly had to give for my team to become champions and find out my leader wasn't willing to do the same,, that one play show's a predetermined mindset because his instinct should have dove for ball automatically
🙄... Every player does. Whether it b for vanity (not diving) or for glory (diving), he chose either one, he does it for himself. The problem is, he only had a split second to choose, and glory hounds r gonna eat that shit up. Especially Cam Newton. To question Newton's toughness is absurd. That kid has taken more of a beating than anyone not named Vick or Cunningham. That's a fact. His toughness has never been a question. His vanity and ability to handle adversity, especially when the chips r down? That's what I personally have always questioned. If he's afraid to take a beating by the media and fanbase, how is he expected to lead men on a field? Hence, the downfall of his career. He will never recover. I don't think he has the balls to admit his mistakes, and grow into anything more. That's the real problem with Cam Newton. Unfortunately, really. Cuz he's arguably the most talented QB I've ever witnessed play the game. That's just me.👍💯✌️
I typically enjoy TPS videos because they typically offer an objective examination of certain situations or individuals. This, however, was not that. I am a born and bred Carolina fan who always errs on the side of building up our team and players. This was more of an individual’s exposé and blatant support of Cam. Not at all what I usually enjoy from TPS.

Facts.....Peyton was actually my favorite QB but this game rubbed me wrong cuz it just seemed laid out from the start that the Panthers weren’t to win this game..especially since Eli had 2(not better than Peyton tho)
How can you call anyone Superman when they wouldn't dive on a fumble in the Super Bowl?? The Super Bowl is many times a career defining game. You never know if you will ever get back there again. Just ask Dan Marino about that fact. Being a good guy off the field and being generous is a great thing but it has nothing to do with football. You cannot use the name Superman for anyone that is afraid to dive on that fumble in the biggest game of your life. I wonder how his teammates REALLY felt and how many of them will never get another Super Bowl chance again. Don't make excuses for a situation in which there is no excuse. He has great athletic ability but perhaps his "eccentricities" (and that play) are the reason he still hasn't been picked up by another team after being cut by Carolina. Hopefully this snub will light a fire under him and allow him to use the fantastic God given talents that he has.
The Panthers, they had not won any Super Bowls at all. The broncos had a powerful defense to destroy the 15 - 1 Panthers in the super bowl in 2016. WOW.
Robinhood Hustle I agree. It’s not fair to compare a young team to older teams. I think that if a team makes it to a super Bowl, they deserve at least some credibility. And FYI if a team is young and haven’t won anything, don’t say they will never win one. They will one day.
For Cam’s personal reasons since he’s worried about his money over SBs then yeah sure don’t dive... but for the Carolina Panthers, they want to win SBs and need someone to take one for the team just like most would do
Not to discount your explanation, but you gotta put caution to the wind when a super bowl is on the line That being said... many people try to hard to think the SB is “just another game”, and maybe he didn’t make the risk because he wouldn’t have done it in any other game.
Bro if you think they were going to let Payton retire without a second ring you’re crazy. Think about it, that entire season Cam ran the ball whenever inside the 5 yard line. The dude is the size of a tight end but that game they threw three passes inside the 5 not one qb run. We know the untold truth. The NFL is an entertainment business.
Your whole career could be defined on whether you won a SB or not! So when you’re in that spot you DIVE on that ball! You can use the off-season to recover from any possible injuries... That was a chicken shit move to avoid the ball, simple as that, and says a lot about what he is as a player!

Sucks that cam didn't want that smoke. Sucks worse that he deflected when asked about not diving for the fumble. Obviously he thought about the concussions, figured his lineman would get it anyhow, or at least hoped he would. So, as a panthers fan, how do you feel about him being back? Cam definitely hasn’t been the same since that game
They informed him that he had to throw the game!
Watch Drew Brees go after a ball like that on his LAST play as a Charger where he dislocated his shoulder.
Yeah, if brees did it then, Cam definitely should have in the SB.
And then went on to be one of the best QBs ever

Tbh the Panthers offensive line was lacking that whole game
That Broncos defense was one of the greatest ever. The Panthers offense that season was one that overwhelmed the opposition with brute force. But unlike any other team they played that season they were unable to dominate the line of scrimmage against the Broncos. It shut down their entire offense.

Go Broncos

Newton was so absorbed with himself that he was thinking only about how he might get hurt by trying to recover the fumble and completely ignored what would help his team.
No he thought the ball was going to bounce back to him
If he literally got hurt the game is over, if the broncos recovered it there was still a chance the defense could lay a stop

@Marshon MVP King Yeah, risk getting injured in the Superbowl. What he did was smart
@Marshon MVP King Ok Cam dives, TJ ward hits him helmet to helmet, also Ware is on him and I think two more Dline men were there, Cam not only gets a concussion but is out of the game an wait his throwing arm is hurt too an might not play football again, yea definitely worth it
It’s worth giving your team another chance it’s the super bowl
I wish I woulda heard Cam be honest and say I chocked/ hesitated or something along those lines. I woulda respected that more. JS
@@MiguelRodriguez-tm2yc Exactly exactly exactly...

Not diving on it, as the QB, in the superbowl is inexcusable. Thats the unavoidable truth, and Cam put himself before the team and fans.

If you’re going to risk your body, imo doing in the Super Bowl wouldn’t be a bad idea to increase the chances of being a champion afterwards
If he touched that ball, TJ would’ve lit cam up, not only that Derek Wolf and Von would’ve been right there to do the same
You gotta make that dive tho in the SB
will4XX most likely woulda got a beating if he did let the man do what he does
Ware had one hand on the ball and that was it, all Cam had to do was dive on the ball
Your whole career could be defined on whether you won a SB or not! So when you’re in that spot you DIVE on that ball! You can use the off-season to recover from any possible injuries... That was a chicken shit move to avoid the ball, simple as that, and says a lot about what he is as a player!
Nice job. Keep it up.
In the end...so called Superman was a sissy
Pam newton
More like Scam Newton
He gave himself that nickname.
Compare his reaction to 37 year old John Elway in Super Bowl XXXIII lunging for an extra yard and spinning like a helicopter.
Ya this seemed kinda rigged so manning would retire with a SB, I wouldn't doubt if they did the same for Brady🤷🏾♂️
No 40 year olds in the Superbowl this year ! Y'all should jump on the Raven bandwagon, I'm sure there's room . 🤔
Why y’all acting like Manning was the only one who won a super bowl the year he retired..🤦♂️
@@supersylar4753 i know whats up with everyone making up excuses saying it's rigged. Cam didn't dive on the ball how is that rigged????
@@whodatking26 I bet Even tho Cam made it clear he didn't dive because he thought he was gonna get injured again
Or Brees
