Look at his track record in the years since that fateful moment in Santa Clara under the bright spotlight of Super Bowl 50. Cam has played in at least 14 games each season since despite battling concussions and enduring shoulder surgeries.
During the 2019 offseason Newton finally went in for an arthroscopic procedure on this throwing shoulder, so perhaps now that he has had a chance to actually recover, the nagging injuries will be less of a factor going forward and NFL fans will get Superman back, which, if you ask me is a good thing.
Love him or hate him, Cam Newton is undeniably exciting to watch and the NFL is much more interesting when he’s on competing.

Not using a qb run heavy game plan lost them that game, they should have had 30 points by the time the fumble happened, denver wasn't the best vs mobile qbs; ruined his career not knowing the gameplan script the winners of big games (if that fails then you get bad calls to help).
I think they called 1qb run for their mvp qb in that superbowl lol, yeah that's his fault, the qb that couldn't change plays so he was pissec and heartbroken by the 4th quarter knowing they were made to lose. Had he gotten hurt diving for that fumble he'd be called soft anyway (only qb we ever see trucking defensive linemen and people are calling him soft lol)

My QB in high school got in a four wheeler accident before the season started. He was in real bad shape, brain was swelling and he had internal bleeding. He was sent to Charlotte and Cam took care of most of his hospital bill, he was in the hospital about a month. I have nothing but respect for him.
Living in Charlotte Cam goes above and beyond doing things for people in this city that he never had to do right up until the sorry new owner and coach cut him plus he was the first Superstar in the city before Dababy and Lamelo Ball which is why he will always be loved here no matter how bad the media tries to portray him

Peyton Manning is one of my favorite quarterbacks of all time, but in Super Bowl 50 he threw for half as many yards as Cam Newton, rushed for 0 yards compared to Newton’s 45 yards-neither QB threw touchdown and both turned the ball over. Gee, I wonder why the Broncos won the game 24 to 10...Football is a “team” sport.

Manning also didn't have an interception and fumble the ball twice, so I would say the shell of Manning we saw actually played much better than Cam.

It literally becomes instinct to dive on the ball anytime it's on the ground. He made the conscious decision to not dive on that ball. He may have had his reasons, but this is the super bowl! No reason is good enough to not get that ball at all costs.
The whole season Cam was laughing and having a good time. For some reason in the Super Bowl, even during the warmups, he had this serious look about him and didn't look comfortable at all. I thought for sure he got some bad news before the game or something.

He probably could’ve retired much earlier than he actually did so the fact that he was even playing at that point was pretty remarkable. Cam was a positive energy on the football field. I think people were jealous of him being true to himself. There is life after football. He is financially secure. I always liked what Cam did for communities to help less fortunate.

I always felt from looking at the play that at 1st, Cam thought he'd be able to scoop the ball up and continue the play- but then the denver lineman got his hand on it as he is standing near the boy. Now once he's THAT CLOSE to the ball,and other players around the ball, THEN AT THAT POINT it's an awkward movement to go straight down on it, and instinct would be to NOT to fall on it due to injury.

I coach youth football for 25 years and in practice my boys were never allowed to jump on a fumble, but we did run fumble drill in practice to lower the chance of an injury. And never wanted my QB to sacrifice his body, I had other players to do that

But you're taking it out of context. That game was meaningless for the Chargers. Brees goes out, who cares if they win or lose, hell they had a good enough team for any acceptable QB to play efficiently (although obviously not at Brees level). The Panthers only shot at winning that Super Bowl was Cam Newton. He carried them to the game and if anyone had a chance to win it, it's him. He would of gotten injured on that play, and then Panthers lose, no chance, Derek Anderson ain't winning that game even at his best. They ultimately lost but him not diving protected his health which was the greatest asset the Panthers had at that time; a healthy Cam.

I can't remember for sure, but I think Cam took a nasty helmet to helmet shot during that game before the fumble. Maybe he had a concussion when that fumble happened. Maybe he couldn't think clearly. Cam really hasn't been the same since that game. Much like Vernon Davis wasn't the same after he was hit while defenseless in an NFC championship game in Seattle. Jimmy Graham was never the same after getting knocked out in an NFC championship game in San Francisco. Pretty sure Cam took a huge hit in that game.

I typically enjoy TPS videos because they typically offer an objective examination of certain situations or individuals. This, however, was not that. I am a born and bred Carolina fan who always errs on the side of building up our team and players. This was more of an individual’s exposé and blatant support of Cam. Not at all what I usually enjoy from TPS.

I don’t know why he didn’t just grab the ball and strip it from Ware. It looks like it was possible after watching it now, but when I watched it in real time; I truly believed he didn’t jump on the ball half hazardously because of the way D Ware had his arm stretched out. His elbow is just about pointing straight upwards at the very moment, plus his hand is on the ball. There is a lot of space between his arm and the ground. I think Cam knew if he would have jumped on the ball he would have broken Ware’s arm, elbow, or shoulder. Or all for that matter. BIG UPS to Cam. I think he’s more than people give him credit for.

That Broncos defense was one of the greatest ever. The Panthers offense that season was one that overwhelmed the opposition with brute force. But unlike any other team they played that season they were unable to dominate the line of scrimmage against the Broncos. It shut down their entire offense.

The Panthers did lose the game on that play. Denver recovers inside the 20 and scores to go up 14, even a field goal makes it a two score game. The chance of Denver scoring if the panthers recover and either fail on fourth down or punt are much lower because of field position. Carolina had the chance to save their season and didn't.

While it is silly, I think of Johnny Knox's injury and can understand where Cam was coming from. He probably saw similar injuries and that made him reserved in that split second moment.
