      @@willvandermeer4733 So you hate every player that played for the Panthers then because they never won a Superbowl right? But you're right. Getting to the Superbowl isn't important or anything. You can definitely win a Superbowl without getting there.
      Winning and carrying a junior National Championship Blinn College team and then carrying Auburn to a National Championship the following year is nothing.
      You probably loved Jake Delhome trash talking though, oh right, it's called fiery passion correct. Or Aaron Rodgers championship belt, or Mac Jones dancing or Tom Brady's passion. You also probably loved Jake Delhome when the Panthers went 12-4 one season and he had 5 interceptions and 1 fumble in that playoff game.
      He only complained when he was not getting the roughing the passer calls, hits to the head, in the pocket, that other QBs were getting. You know, because they called that a defenseless position. Not while he was a runner.

    His career resembled that of a hard running RB who peaked early and was worn down by the time he hit 30. If he could have changed his game and became more of a pocket passer, I think he could have played well into his 30s. Fun and dynamic to watch on the field.

    • @sterlingwilliams8645
      @sterlingwilliams8645 3 года назад +59

      He did develop into a pocket passer. If you watched any tape of 2018 he was putting up better numbers from within the pocket than he did during his MVP season. And then he took a hit from TJ Watt (in the pocket) which messed up his throwing shoulder, which is why you saw the steep decline. I don’t understand that narrative that him running was the reason he got hurt. He got hurt like most QBs do, standing tall in the pocket.

    • @woodeymaynard7711
      @woodeymaynard7711 3 года назад +15

      @@sterlingwilliams8645 He did develop into one, too bad 2018 wasn't his rookie year. He missed almost all of 2019 with a foot injury, he missed time from his shoulder injury, then the injuries from his car accident, he had rotator cuff damage, two years later he had more issues with the shoulder, knee injury, ect. I blame a lot of the health issues with the coaching staff and owner with how he was used. Carolina absolutely stunk when they drafted him, he was their key to everything, so they used him extensively.
      If you don't understand the wear and tear aspect, listen to players and coaches talk about it. Listen to them talk about how they had to change their style of play in order to last in the league. Major league baseball players will change their pitching styles as they get older to accomodate for the wear and tear so they play longer and not fade out.

    I am german, so American football wasnt really a big thing for me, until I started dating a boy playing it in 2014. Slowly, the interesst started to grow and 2015 was the first nfl season I ever watched. I remember seeing the carolina panthers, and especially Cam Newton and being completly captivated by his personality and his playstyle! I am a huge Panthers fan since the first time I saw them play, and still remain to be, even though they are struggeling again. Cam really started my love and passion for football. I own a couple of different Jerseys from my favorite players, but his one, the Black and blue with the number one, will forever remain my favorite, and I wear it everytime I watch a panthers game.

      I believe that if Jerry Richardson was still the owner,Cam would have been the starter till today.Jerry Richardson, being a former football player,had a degree of loyalty to his players.

    Gettlemen took Steve Smith away from him & Cam went for years without a true #1 receiver. Even in 2015, all of our WRs came together & got us through to the Super Bowl…..After that, it just seemed like Cam went downhill. So many negative comments centered around that “fumble” and his commitment to football has been questioned. In one interview, one of the analysts (don’t remember who) brought up a comment that Cam had made “I want to be an Icon.” Naturally, it was taken out of context, but then came the lies about how he cared more about his clothes, being cool….wanting to be an “Icon” gave many the FALSE impression that Cam wasn’t a team player….He made it all about himself…. more untruths. The injuries just kept leaving their mark. I still have my QB#1 Cam Newton bobble head on the mantle and my husband knows not to move it!! LOL He gave the Panthers a chance….on any given Sunday….he left his all on the field. Let the man be “CAM!!” He doesn’t need our approval!!

    In high school our QB would do the SuperCam when he reached the end zone. Even in small town southwest Kansas, Cam Newton was a name we associated with excellence. Hope his post-football life is just as rewarding!

    I literally told my girlfriend at the time they had made the playoffs, THE GUY WONT RUN UP THE MIDDLE. He only ran outside the tackles every time he took off running. When the Super Bowl came around, I literally said that I'd just play tight coverage and watch the sweeps, then dare him to run up the middle. Sure enough, he would stand there, with an open middle of the field and wouldn't run. Go back and watch it! They lost.

      The conspiracy theorist in me says they were paid to throw it so Peyton can ride off into the sunset a champion

      Well think about it. If the outside is open and there’s less big bodies in there you’re gonna take that route as opposed to defensive takcloans linebackers. Who would you rather run into, a 330 pound DT, a 240 pound linebacker or a maybe 200 pound at most corner that you’re like six inches taller than and outweigh by at least 50 pounds.

    As a Broncos Fan 2015 was a great year. It was also the last time we had a winning season.

    When some players are that talented, they don’t work on reading defenses, learning the game, etc. Of course his body broke down playing like that and he had not made himself a student of the game like successful long term QBs do.

      100%... having those physical advantages make it easier to coast, and especially for QB's it will hurt them in the long run as NFL defenses accumulate more and more tape to study. This also happened to Colin Kaepernick, once they had the book on him he was simply ineffective to the point of getting benched for Blake Gabbard.

    I feel like there are moments where you can see dynasties vanish
    For example, the seahawks’ interception in super bowl 49 practically ended their #1 defense and legion of boom
    Cam’s no-dive
    Brady Leaving the patriots (obviously)
