I remember that after the playoff win with Pittsburgh he said that "My team mates make me look better than I really am". No wonder that they loved him.

@@josephfilocamo2186 I remember that game and will never forget it. He won passing what happened to he can't pass. All he did was win. Only the patriots finally stopped him. I will never forgive the jets for not giving him a season I loved him
Some said there was no way he could fail, some said there was no way he could succeed. Tebow found a way to simultaneously fail and succeed in the NFL, and in a weird way proved everyone wrong and right at the same time. Fascinating.
He threw for 10,000 yards and dominated in the SEC for 3 years. He won games wherever he played. He never got hurt. He could run. He could deliver and take hits. He may not have had the greatest or most powerful arm, but he was a winner.
Thats why I almost fell out of my chair about the Mel Kiper quote on him lacking the "intangibles" to succeed in the Pro's, this guy had more intangibles than I have ever seen from any athlete!
I agree. He's a Legend college QB with unlimited tangibles. But as a NFL QB, he was setup for failure. He has horrible passing mechanics which lead to bad passing completion. He couldn't read an nfl advance defense. NFL QB have 2.5 seconds to throw an accurate pass. His college game would not translate to the NFL. Amazing human being and college QB. Couldn't hack it in the NFL.
Yes - but between the two who would you choose? Tebow was 9 of 10 in games where opponents scored less than 33 points, took the worst team in football to the divisional round while producing a 6 game winning streak on the way. Cutler in Denver once in 37 starts had a 3 game winning streak and took over a team that had gone 13/3 and produced 2/3, 7/9, 8/8. All coaches that worked with Tebow as a starter got promoted and since all failed. Every HC/OC that has worked with Cutler has been fired except Adam Gase.
@@jenspetersen5865 They lost 3 of 4 to back into the playoffs and the game after the Pittsburgh win, he got waxed 45-10 while barely breaking 150 yards passing. Tebow sucked as a NFL qb.
@@kwamestamps35 You obviously did not watch. There were 1696 players in the NFL and the players voted that he was better than 1601 of them. Tebow has a lot of racists hating him and a lot that hate him for being a Jesus freak but as a QB for the Broncos we have never had a young QB ever do what Tebow did in his first 16 games - and that includes John Elway.
As a lifelong broncos fan, I gotta say that Tebow’s season was one of the most memorable and exciting seasons I can remember. And that playoff win was epic. Say what you want, he made it interesting.
As a Broncos fan, maybe you can explain to me what happened. I'm a life long Bearsss fan. It took awhile, but Orton developed into an average (great for a Bearsss) QB when we traded him to you for Cutler. He seemed to put up decent stats with you guys (Great for a Bearssss QB) but got benched for Tebow. Then you guys started winning. If Tebow is so bad, why were you winning after benching Orton? Orton wasn't really that bad, was he? Was that just a weird lucky fluke? I remember you guys coming into Chicago and the Bearssss Defense were laughing and making jokes about how bad Tebow was. And we shut you guys down for most of the game but Tebow lead Broncos down the field for the win at the end of the game. So much for all that talk. You even won a playoff game. How can Tebow be so bad and yet....not? Was it just the Gimmick offense that worked for a little bit? Would/should they have been better sticking with Orton?!?!?!
@@cheeseburger12 As An NFL QB he was not good. Orton had a better overall career, Denver just wasn't the place for him. If the Patriots couldn't do anything with Tebow then you knew he wasn't worth looking at as a QB (maybe a running back with throwing potential). He was able to make some big plays when needed but it was never really expected until late in games and you never knew when it would happen. As far as Orton, just look at Cassel and Garoppolo after they left New England. They were never Great QB's but in New England they improved and excelled helping the team. Only to fail in another city and under another system. College is a different game and you expect the QB to be able to run, however the NFL catches on quickly and defenses learn how to play against certain QB's that like to run or get flustered.
@@chrish7336 Forget career. I'm talking about Orton being benched for Tebow. If Tebow is so terrible, couldn't they have been better with Orton. Yet they weren't! How?!?!

Tebow may have been better for Denver at that specific time with what they had over Orton, but Orton was the better QB overall.
Let be clear here --- he played 4 years of high school football at QB, no one changed his throwing motion. He is a D1 QB at Florida with big time coaches , no changes to his throwing motion. He is drafted into the NFL and no one adjust his throwing motion. He is an athlete. So, he is either not coachable or coaches had little interest in working with him.
There was no try. They didnt even get that far, because the problem never was his ability to play, the biggest issue that ruined tims career was the kneel downs and praying in football games. It became a controversey for some reason because fans thought that it was stupid, that they didnt want to see it, and they thought it was tim trying to force religion down their throats.
@@patrickleblanc613 I've seen clips of Tebow over years training and attempting to speed up his throwing motion. A habit like that is hard to break. When it takes almost a whole second to throw and release the ball it gives the defenders an extra step towards the target to deflect or intercept the ball. That's why his career completion percentage was below 50%. He played Johnny Manziel style which won him many games initially but it wasn't hard for NFL defenses to catch on. That pass to beat Pittsburgh in OT was amazing. Unfortunately for him, he had to go up against a Bill Belichick defense the next week. He was exposed and ultimately his ability to play the QB position at the pro level WAS the issue.
His mechanics, accuracy, and decision making in a pro offense were awful and he was never going to translate to the NFL. But honestly he was a fantastic athlete, spirited, and didn't give up. And he had a flare for the dramatic. It is hard not to root for him. In the end he had his moments but that was all he was ever going to have. I thought his baseball run was a joke, but there too he actually did far better than there was any reason to think he could have.
@@jfry7145 We will have to agree to disagree. Anyone who can pick up baseball after playing in high school 12 years ago and be a serviceable triple A player a couple of years later has an enormous amount of athletic ability.
But he couldn’t put on football pads and play tight end, if he was that good a football player it should have been easy. I was kind of a fan till he couldn’t make that happen.
Peyton Manning made them a top 10 offense and greatly improved their passing numbers. They did lose in the playoffs that year but they also didn't get blown out like Tebow's Broncos did either. They also took the team that would go on to win that year's championship to OT. He also made them a much more efficient offense converting an additional 15% of their 3rd down conversion with them. You're deluding yourself if you think the Broncos were the same level of team both years simply because they lost in the same divisional round.

Agreed, if he would have changed positions upon immediately entering the league he might have had a chance to find a fulltime job in the league. Belichick even wanted to give him that chance as a multi positional chess piece for the Patriots offense but story has it Tim was stubborn and would only play QB.
Facts! The dude would have been very good playing alongside Gronk on the Pats but Tebow didn't want to change his position. Edelman changed from QB to a receiver and he got three titles out of it.
He could have been coached during college and been fine. He was so good at running that they didn't bother messing with his game to fix his deficiencies, so he never improved his form, style, or reads.
All around a good guy regardless of his nfl career. He’s still made something of himself and has always been on a straight path. A very good role model for anybody in todays world
What people never mention is that in a high school game Tebow: -threw a td, -run for a td, -caught a td pass, -kicked an extra point and field goal, -played defense the entire game, -kicked off and punted, -sang the national anthem -baptized a baby during the coin toss, -ran up in the stands at halftime to deliver a baby, and -gave a blind girl back her sight by touching her eyes during the post-game interview. Wild game. Steelers should have lost in regulation if not for a blown call. Tebow such a bad passer that they run on 1st down nearly or possibly every single play for the whole game. 1st snap he gets in overtime, perfectly placed over the shoulder, game.
There is one missing element that seperated him from college and Nfl. It was the throwing motion. When he was in college his throwing motion was the long wined up but it was accruate. When he went to the nfl everybody was telling him to change it

After that one season, Tebow never was given a real chance. He signed with the Jets who are stupid when it comes to quarterbacks. That's not a failure of improvement. That was how bad the Jets and Broncos are at developing quarterbacks. He barely missed signing with the Patriots because they already had a good backup quarterback that year. Similar situation happened in Philadelphia who had a lot of options that seemed good that year at quarterback. So where was he supposed to show signs of growth? The man got screwed from day one. Tim Tebow was a phenomenon. That run with the Broncos was amazing. That playoff win against the Steelers was epic! He had his moment and it shined bright but quickly faded.
@@MDK2_Radio Its not that actually, the real reason he never got the opportunity to prove himself after that season with the broncos is cuz screwed over John elway. Actually, Denver's home field advantage in all of sports is probably at the top. For decades the Nuggets used it, until the franchise tanked. Teams fell apart in the 4th from the altitude. Elway had a bunch of comebacks at home too.
He is a 1-2 read QB, and it works for him because he is such a threat on the ground. If his primary and secondary receiver are both covered, he doesn't continue through his receiving options, instead he starts looking for a running lane. If that is covered, he looks for the unconventional... like a wr breaking off his route, or a halfback just over scrimmage. He played like I play Madden. I would use Mike Vick, or Vince Young, Pick the 2 routes I like best on a pass play, and if they both get stuffed, I scramble. Sometimes, receivers get open, and it makes for a wild play. I dont like having to keep an eye on the pocket collapsing. Thats how QB's suffer concussions. 2 Reads and scramble.

Not trying to take away from this video at all, but Joe Burrow did break the SEC and NCAA single season touchdown record with 65 over Tebow's 55. Still very impressive but the info presented in the video is off.
Tebow exploited "prevent defenses" that NFL teams use late in games to protect leads. These defenses allow QBs to throw underneath coverage for short gains while defending against long passes. Tebow could complete these high-percentage passes and run for big gains late in games against this defense, which explains all his come from behind wins. Against New England, Belichek had figured him out and tightened pass coverage against Tebow to make him throw with accuracy (which he can't do) and assigned an LB on him at all times to prevent him from running. As a result, New England won 45-10, and Tebow was carted off the field in the second half. The following season, the entire league had him figured out and put intense pressure on him in the pocket, took away short passes, and made him throw down the field, because they knew he had no accuracy. and his completion percentage got even lower. Tebow could never become an NFL QB because he couldn't throw the deep out route, which is a necessity because it's the one that converts 3rd and long and moves the chains. If you can't throw it, you can't play QB in the NFL.
Very underrated comment so let me thank you. At that time, I really wanted more of his fairy tale (there are many poor QBs, but at least he had personality), but now I see you are 100% right.

Because the college game is totally different. If you notice in college fb theres no huddles and the Qb gets the plays/ pre-snap reads from the sidelines and the Qb is never under center always in shotgun. Most of all schools runs the RPO system & the Triple option. you rarely see a Pro-style offense The college game is spoon 🥄👶🏼 feeding these guys almost hinders them for prosperity imo

@yossarian I'm not arguing that his mechanics were great or he was great at reading a defense but fact is he won at an NFL level and never got another shot. Phillip Rivers throws funny too and not every QB reads the defense like Peyton Manning.
@yossarian Get the fuck outta here... couldn't read defense at a DII level when he was arguably the greatest college player of all time... your level of derangement is appalling.
Tim Tebow had full-grown, retired pros sitting around on a panel at ESPN debating on whether divine intervention was real. Those were serious discussions. So take that however you want, the guy didn’t seem all that great most of the time but there was something special about how one player could have such a drastic impact on what was otherwise bad team until he stepped on the field.
Someone once sold a grilled cheese sandwich that looked like it had Jesus' mom on it... for $28,000. Later, a piece of buttered toast with Jesus sparked similar discussions. After Tebow left the team, the Broncos won their division four consecutive times, twice beating the Patriots in the playoffs. The fact that they made it to the playoffs in 2011, with an 8-8 record, *despite* having Tebow at QB, is a testament to how good the rest of the team was (and how utterly lousy the AFC West was...).
The only hate I remember Tebow getting was the media relentlessly attacking him for his Christian faith. “He’s praying OH NO!” Making fun of him many times Honestly thats what I remember with his NFL career; showing how controversial the media should’ve been seen as
most big dumb football players are christians! Tebow caught shit for it because he was an awful player not worthy of the celebrity. Kurt Warner was annoying as hell with the religious nonsense when he came up, but he could play so nobody cared... if Tebow could play nobody would care about the goofy religion
@@anthonyfoutch3152 I saw that a bit too but I think the OC is exaggerating since I heard media also congratulating it. My guess is whatever echo chamber you choose to focus on, you're going to get bombarded with negativity from "the other side".
In an alernate universe, if somehow Elway would've kept him on the roster, he would've won the Broncos a Super Bowl. Manning was all done his last year.
That's stuff he should have learned at 10, not after you get drafted into the NFL. He did have people work with him on his mechanics, he just wasn't good enough to adapt.
He had five different NFL coaches trying to teach him mechanics and one of the best NCAA coaches of all time. At some point you have to admit that it is the player not the coaching.
I liked watching Tebow because he was unconventional. It’s like you have to run a wildcat offense every down if he’s your starter. His run with Denver was a “what if” scenario in real life.
@Jason O'Daniel Fornicate ourselves? What's with the anger? Taking over at 1-4, leading his team to a division title, and winning a home playoff game is unconventional. Fantasy football stat-guy, throwing the ball away or running it reduces turnovers that overzealous QBs throw when they force the ball (or get sacked). It also lowers the completion percentage and yards per pass. That makes for less passing yards and a lower passer rating. It won games though. Unconventional. What's with your anger? Face your feelings. Tell me about your issues.
Tebow fanatics swear to this day, this man wasnt given enough of chance. Nfl supposedly should develop quarterbacks from garbage to average capabilities. Meanwhile theres like 100 other quarterbacks that are backups and have their mechanics in check
@yossarian I've always believed that Tebow had potential, and was the victim of circumstances as a pro. Consider - In two seasons in Denver, he played for three head coaches, and two different offensive coordinators, and two quarterback coaches. Add to that the horrible labor issue in 2011 which prevented him from any offseason work or study. The lockout from March to July of that year stopped any work with the team he might have been able to completed. Then, just to drive the final nail in the crate for him, when Denver acquired Peyton Manning in 2012 I had hopes that a then-24 year old Tebow could learn and study under Manning, and come out with much better skills, particularly in reading defenses and improving his passing accuracy. Sadly for him this was not to be the case.

Dude he would have been their second string water boy and probably would have fucked that up too. He was terrible in the NFL. I mean if you just look at the numbers he makes Ryan Leaf look like he was mediocre.
At 8:12, you state he was the least accurate QB in league history with 10 or more starts in a season with a 46 percent completion rate, making him the first QB with under a 50 percent completion rate in a season with that many starts. Doug Williams had a 41.8% completion rate in 1979, starting all 16 games with Tampa Bay, and he started 10 games the previous season with a 37.6% completion rate, so certainly not the first QB to do that or the worst all time.
That was true, but I was referring to the season where they were competing for a position. You play the player who is currently the best option. Sanchez was completely ruined by his offensive coordinator who wanted to shape him rather than continue what was successful in his first two season. It is as much of a shame what happened to Sanchez as it was to Tebow. Typical Jets though.

As a lifelong Tennessean, yeah, except for that one game every year, he was a great one. It was like a 1960s QB showed up to punish would be tacklers. LOL. Hope the young man is doing well and still doing the Lord's work.
I’m convinced Tebow like many QBs were just ahead of the times. If he came out of college now teams would change their entire offense to fit him. 10years ago they were still against the idea of the mobile QB taking over and catering offenses to match it
@@sturdevantphotography5726 Taysom Hill legit has a role on the Saints. There are offenses that work. Any coach that says they can’t use a hybrid player etheir just doesn’t want to or is making a statement.
Tebow had lots of positives. He was a great leader on the field and in the locker room, he was indomitable on the field. Where he fell short was in technical ability. Nonetheless he was a gamer. You can't take that from him.
@@billcame6991 Tom is plenty loved. I even like him now that he left the Patriots. It was the whole cheating stink, and the hair plugs that made people not like Brady. Now that he’s a Buc he’s liked by a wider audience. He should have moved ten years ago.
Tebow took over QB for a 1-3 team in his FIRST year starting, led them to the playoffs, won a play-off victory -- then was promptly traded to a coach who REFUSED to let him play (rex ryan) despite that team having a shitty record. Many in the NFL actively worked against this guy. Who knows, maybe his throwing could have improved a little, certainly his reads, progressions, game management should have.
i would have wanted to sub him in as qb for short 3rd downs. He would get 4 yards half the time with a busted play. His willpower and leadership was great. Ive never seen a D play as hard for a qb as the broncos did. They were believers and he showed them he might suck at throwing but hes not quitting and will try as hard as humanly possible
To me this reeks of any coach unable to fix his mechanics. Being an AFC West fan, I know all about Tebow, and that one season where it seemed he came back in every game, It was amazing. It seemed like the league all got a phone call saying he's not any good. How can you have this kind of success without being a winner? And that's what Tebow is, a winner.
I've always felt bad for tebow because he always came across more normal than people seemed to realize. Seemed like the people he was surrounded with didn't necessarily have his best interests at heart. Once people became obsessed with him becoming the face of "Christian athletics" his credibility took a nosedive. Awfully difficult to convince me that tebow was "blacklisted" for being a Christian when upwards of 70% of the league identifies as Christian. Had he listened to coaches earlier in his athletic career he might have been more prone to changing positions he would have had more of a future
It seems disingenuous that you don’t recognize Tebow is a different kind of Christian than the 70 percent you cite. He prays more openly than most and is unafraid to talk about his faith and conservative stances. He was an awful quarterback, but let’s not distort the reality of the situation.
High school state championship, NCAA national champion twice, Heisman trophy winner, first round selection, took the Broncos to a playoff win. How bad was Tim Tebow? Really?
@@1984LHR There's a long list of QBs that took a team to 1 playoff win that were bad to awful players. That Broncos team won based on defense and running and a few surprise Tebow plays. You saw what happened when he ran into a good, prepared team
I'll never forget turning on First Take on ESPN in 2010-2012 and hearing Skip Bayless go on and on about how great Tebow was while Stephen A and anyone really were trying to talk some sense into him 😂😂😂😂
It was sad that he basically was a gimmick quarterback at Florida. If he had coaching in college to refine his skills against amateur competition he probably could have been at least a solid backup in the NFL, but he developed so many awful throwing habits he could never just throw like a normal quarterback. What made him good at Florida was what made him useless at the NFL level. It's the ultimate example of a guy who mentally belongs in the league but didn't have the skill set to play the position he insisted on playing.
Tebow had all the intangibles, and none of the tangibles. There was a reason he wasn't drafted high in the first, despite his reputation as a leader and a great teammate.
Well said, but I would add that he had all the tangibles for his college scheme. The NFL plays so differently today there's no way he could fit. Thankfully his defense was nuts and we got to watch him on the field for a while a little longer than we should have, but man that was fun.
Yes. If there was a Mr. Intangibles, Tim would take 1st place. I'm shocked that a coach at UF did not sharpen his passing skills. UF had 4 years to improve this. In high school he was a man playing with boys.
The only tangibles Tebow didn't have was arm talent, which is fairly important as a QB. He had the rest though, he was big, fast and ran like a freight train. If only he had average or above average passing ability.
His throwing motion is really slow. TE or Fullback is a better fit for his skill set. I agree he should have honed his skills more but his reluctance to shift positions ruined his chance at longevity in the NFL
@paul jones Moon could accurately throw the ball. The CFL would have destroyed Tebow. With only three downs the other team has to at least believe you might run a pass play.
I watched Tim Tebow play a lot of games. I wasn't a fan of his or any team that he played for. What I saw were the times the coach allowed Tim to do his thing and make the plays was when Tebow Time would spark up. Tebow Time was the fans acknowledging that when Tebow was given the reigns, he had the ability to make plays with either running or throwing to a WR doing a route Tim knew well. I think the problem with Tim could have been his leadership position wasn't there enough to force the coaches to design a better NFL team to his abilities.
You have to be careful with narratives like this because you're making it sound like the only thing that kept Tebow from becoming a legend in the NFL were his coaches not letting him play Tebow Time ball all the time. The truth is that Denver defense was playing lights out and keeping them in games and Tebow Time wasn't consistent at getting comeback wins like you make it sound. They limped into the playoffs because teams were starting figure out Tebow was a one trick pony and starting to adjust accordingly and the Denver defense was getting tired from having to play extended minutes because the Denver offense couldn't move the ball. The main reason they beat the Steelers was because Demaryius Thomas decided he was going to be Usain Bolt for a game and just outrun defenders for 50 yards per catch. I also think the Steelers defense was a little banged up but either way once they ran into a legitimate title contender Tebow got decimated. I think the coaching staff knew that Tebow style ball might get the team .500 wins, if that, given their defense and the talent around Tebow but they knew they had a championship caliber team and Tebow wasn't the one going to make that happen cause teams were already figuring out how to stop him. And with Tebow taking so much punishment that his shelf life was probably a few seasons at best. Honestly I think we saw the best of what Tebow had to offer and it was all going to be down hill from there if they kept him.
Tebow was a hero of mine as a kid, his Florida team was fun to watch. The Pittsburgh OT game is one of the greatest sports moments of my life. My other hero was Peyton Manning, so I was a Broncos fan for a few years.
Manning is a fraud. Phony, terrible person who threw his teammates under the bus after he came up short when it mattered most. Get better heroes than guys who sexually assault women and then try to attempt to intimidate them into silence..
I'll never forget being at the LSU jump ball game as a kid. Hearing all week about the Tebow hype and then him totally living up to it against future first overall pick JaMarcus Russel. Good times.
I still dont understand how anyone could hate the guy. That whole working harder speech, and the way he walked off from it, was one of the best things ever in sports
Nobody “hates” him. But people who try to force a false narrative of greatness denied because of his faith, which he bears some blame for, are very tiresome.
9 and 7 as a starter. Lots of guys in the NFL have worse numbers and still have a job. Good team mate, hard worker, leader, proven winner. Plus, you were NEVER going to get the call that Tebow shot a hooker and ran from the cops with blow and a stolen car.
@@seoulglo1999 Thats a pretty cherry picked statistic when you break it down. In his first 3 years he was 24-7-1, his last 3 were 13-24. Lets not do this revisionist history that Kaepernick was at the top of his game when everything went down. Hell if you look up articles about him a few weeks prior to his first time kneeling the talk of the NFL was the Niners planning to cut him. His kneeling absolutely hurt his career but lets not pretend his performance wasnt a huge reason as well.
In Denver, he was pretty good, especially that playoff game. John Elway has probably been biggest problem with the Broncos for many years, changing coaches and QBs far too often.
In my view he could have stayed in the NFL had he not insisted on being a QB for most of his time in the league. Forgive me if other commenters have said the same.
that completion % is just brutal. He managed some desperation wins on a Denver team with an amazing defense, but there's not a coach on the planet that wants to be stuck with a QB who can't throw.
Credit to you for at least acknowledging that he was not the starter for his first year. Gary Danielson (professional football analyst) flat out ignored Chris Leak during a telecast. Stating that Tebow was the starter and led the team to a championship.
Tebow was a great college player, and regardless of his performance as a Pro, he can be proud of himself for his accomplishments. The way he lit up the Steelers in the playoffs will go down in history. I don't think Todd Blackledge has any regrets about being a great college quarterback at Penn State and flopping as a pro, nor should he. It happens all the time and is far more common than not.
@@BooneeXCdad Yes 10. But 31.6 yards per completion that day was a record. He set a couple of other playoff records for long completions that day including a record 300+ yards passing in only 10 completions. The steelers were 12-4 and defending AFC champions and did not give up the long ball all year. Tebow gobsmacked them hard, but still they almost pulled it off. Tebow's 80yd touchdown pass in overtime sealed it for the Broncos. As a Steeler fan I was just devastated, but all week long we were being fed stories about how Tebow was not a good QB and could never beat the Steelers. I think that really motivated him to prove everyone wrong.
@@TSimo113 You were fed stories that were true. He was 10 of 21. He only averaged 15 yards per reception and that's with an 80 yrd final throw. And this was better than most of his starts. I grew up a Pittsburgh fan. Nearly named my first son after Lynn Swann. Pittsburgh lost that game. Denver's didn't win it. Tebow is a charlatan on the field, in the booth and in the church.
@@BooneeXCdad I think we play that game 10 times again and the Steelers win 8 or 9 or even 10 of them but it just was not in the cards that day and Tebow made the throws he needed to make. Falling behind 20-6 and being torched by this mediocre NFL quarterback unhinged the Steelers and they were lucky to tie the score and take it into overtime. The 80 yarder to win the game was a fluke too. But even Chuck Noll said "I'd rather be lucky than good". I grew up during the 70's and it was a magic time to be a Steeler fan. My great memories dwarf this one sad blip. Tebow joins a large list of very fine College Quarterbacks who just did not have the skill set to make it in the pros.
Athlete with elite skills, bad attitude, and bad morals = worshipped and idolized Athlete with average skills, great attitude, and impeccable morals = hated and mocked I never understood why he was so hated. You don't have to agree but the scriptures tell us why.. It's because this world is ruled by the Devil, (1 john 5:19) it's only natural that bad behavior be promoted and celebrated. Spirituality & Physical minded individuals can't coexist
Simply not true. Tebow was loved and every sports channel talked about his during his season. People loved that he was Christian and loved he did the Tebow kneel. He was loved… but sorry he wasn’t a good nfl quarterback. So why should he be allowed to continue to play
I think the issue is that you want to demonize Kaepernick for kneeling for his beliefs and idolize Tebow for kneeling for his. Which is a big reason why people are so anti Christian today. The arrogance of Christianity knows absolutely no bounds.
@@bobby_c7671 Christianity is arrogant beyond belief. They have the audacity to cry about being persecuted whenever people do not allow them to persecute others. This is the religion that killed the son of their god, then put him on a pedestal and began killing others who would not worship him.
I think people also tend to forget in college how talented and fast the receivers were in his 4 years there. They had incredible speed that helped them get open so even when Tebow wasn't accurate it didn't matter. They could also go the distance off of short routes by just blowing past everyone. Like Tebow was an athletic freak for the QB position and his ability to run was great and he could make some throws pretty well but when people wonder why he could throw for so much in college the receivers he was throwing to mattered. Also a really strong OL helped. Man I forgot just how talented those FU teams were at that time.
@@GundamGokuTV He probably wasn't fast enough to be a true every down back. He may have had success as a FB although that is kind of a dying position. TE probably offered him the best chance outside of QB cause he did have some size on him.
He had Aaron Hernandez and Riley Cooper to throw to. But more importantly he had the Pouncey brothers in the middle of the OL, where he looks to run at first chance he gets. One is an all pro and might make the hall of fame, the other only managed to make the pro bowl multiple times.
To me it just seemed like Tebow was always out there having fun, yeah he was a little vocal about his religion than most people would prefer but at the end of the day he seemed like a happy dude who was just enjoying playing the game he loved.
@hello I can't stand the dude. He was incapable of speaking without turning it into church. I really don't care what people's religion is, but I'd you can't speak without talking about it then I really don't want to hear you speak at all. Dude was annoying AF

His last year at Florida he was knocked out cold by Kentucky 😂
@rocjones6543 That was a big hit. Came from his right side. He lacked field vision and pocket awareness.
Hands down, the best crying QB the SEC has ever seen.
As I always said… if Jay Cutler had the motivation and heart of Tim Tebow… he would be an all time great
Good point.

He was able to make some big plays when needed but it was never really expected until late in games and you never knew when it would happen.
As far as Orton, just look at Cassel and Garoppolo after they left New England. They were never Great QB's but in New England they improved and excelled helping the team. Only to fail in another city and under another system.

Or maybe he tried but just couldn't change that throwing motion and it was what it was.
He was exposed and ultimately his ability to play the QB position at the pro level WAS the issue.

ever heard of college football?

Tim Tebow had full-grown, retired pros sitting around on a panel at ESPN debating on whether divine intervention was real. Those were serious discussions.

This was a great lesson on how difficult a job is that of NFL quarterback. Many are called, but (very) few are chosen.
Tebow fanatics swear to this day, this man wasnt given enough of chance. Nfl supposedly should develop quarterbacks from garbage to average capabilities. Meanwhile theres like 100 other quarterbacks that are backups and have their mechanics in check
I wish Denver would have kept him as a 2nd or 3rd string and see what he could have learned from Peyton Manning.

Doug Williams had a 41.8% completion rate in 1979, starting all 16 games with Tampa Bay, and he started 10 games the previous season with a 37.6% completion rate, so certainly not the first QB to do that or the worst all time.

I’m convinced Tebow like many QBs were just ahead of the times. If he came out of college now teams would change their entire offense to fit him. 10years ago they were still against the idea of the mobile QB taking over and catering offenses to match it

Exactly. His numbers speak for themselves, sadly, but he is a great human being. Which can't be put in numbers.
Tebow had lots of positives. He was a great leader on the field and in the locker room, he was indomitable on the field. Where he fell short was in technical ability. Nonetheless he was a gamer. You can't take that from him.

I think that was his great problem, perhaps better coaching might have corrected this
Tebow took over QB for a 1-3 team in his FIRST year starting, led them to the playoffs, won a play-off victory -- then was promptly traded to a coach who REFUSED to let him play (rex ryan) despite that team having a shitty record.
Many in the NFL actively worked against this guy. Who knows, maybe his throwing could have improved a little, certainly his reads, progressions, game management should have.
That’s how it always seemed to me. The NFL went out of its way to keep this guy from having a chance at succeeding.
He had plenty of opportunities @@donkeysaurusrex7881
i would have wanted to sub him in as qb for short 3rd downs.

Good times
He had plenty of tangibles in speed, strength, and athletic ability. Just not throwing the ball accurately.
He won ball games at every level. That is what I thought the owners wanted.

Spot-on!

Tebow was a great college player, and regardless of his performance as a Pro, he can be proud of himself for his accomplishments. I don't think Todd Blackledge has any regrets about being a great college quarterback at Penn State and flopping as a pro, nor should he. It happens all the time and is far more common than not.
