Isn't that a beautiful place???? I toured the area some years ago. Loved the Crockett cabin. So historic!!! Love anything historic. Morristown is one of the places that aI traveled several times when I lived in Johnson City,. Thank you for this wonderful video,. Take care sweet people.
Have a safe and blessed 4th you two. ❤🎉🙏🌹🇺🇸🇺🇸 Appropriate Video for this weekend.
This is going on my list of towns to visit.
I'm from east Tennessee and I do country driving scenery videos we live in a beautiful area
I too live in east TN
me to!
Great video Shane and Melody Happy 4th of July love the learning of Davey Crockett and the beautiful area have a great day and God Bless you both 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Really cool downtown area - so much potential! There’s a restaurant called “The Little Dutch” next door that you can’t pass up!
That is my hometown.
Yay at 3:23 you see my wife and me driving by on our razor before you go up the steps. Great work on our history of Morristown guys.
Happy 4th of July, to all. God bless America and Thank You for all those who have made freedom a way of life.
Love the city and I enjoyed it earlier as well. I think we want to hear you two perform a song together on one of your videos.😃 Think about it!
Thanks for visiting my hometown, I've been here for 57 years. You guys should have checked the west end out, that's where all the growth is now but our downtown in the one of my favorite area. I still remember it as a kid and working at my uncles bakery. Morristown use to be a small town but not anymore. Hamblen Co is the 4th smallest county in Tennessee, as far as area but it's ranked 21st out of 95 counties in population so it's crowded today compared to when I was a kid. Still a great place to live.
My parents are from Dante VA, the subject of one of your other videos that I enjoyed ❤ and my dad went to high school and college in Morristown in the late 40 and early 50s.
A place I'd love to visit. Very pleasant. Thanks!
I like your videos just as they are. ..like we are on a trip with you and things aren't too perfect like a production.
Thank you so much! We love to hear this! - Melody
At the 6:20 mark, there used to be a section of the sidewalk that extended over the street to the other side, so it did make sense at one time. It was removed for safety reasons. I do agree though that the lower sections dead ends.
I’m a Canadian , but we have a rural property in Sneedville, about 45 minutes away from Morristown. I have been there a couple of times , but only the get building supplies for our cabin. I can’t wait to get some time to actually enjoy this place. Looks great! Thx for sharing. We love the appellations, and the small town people! Never would we want to see it change.
Good ole sneedville. The tazewell area around it has some beautiful land near the mountains
I worked at the LITTLE DUTCH years ago. Loved George and Nina the owners but there are lots of photos on the walls as you enter, very historical but I do remember a photo of lily Tomlin on the wall as I didn't know she was from morristown then and always heard that she wasn't very proud of that fact
I’ve lived here my whole life and for some reason I’ve never been to little Dutch. I need to go try it
Very cool place, thank you Shane and Melody! Love that walkway.
Morristown downtown there especially had THE BEST AREA photographer in Pete Michaels, I encourage you to look him up. He has since passed on but he did the best photos there and was a wonderful friend as well
👍👍👍
Happy July 4th. Hope you ghave a great day. Thanks for all the awesome content
Oops. Watch those oxymorons. Lol. It's OK, Shane, we forgive ya. Give Melody a hug from all us old codgers.
We have bridges like that here where I live. I got a bit queasy and nervous when I had to walk across them. It was worse when had to walk across the New River Bridge.
i went from philadelphia pa to morristown tn the second story shops i have never seen that before it was very cool
Morristown Tenn. In 1980 I worked for a roofing company..Working on the Morris town courthouse, and I fell 2 stories.. crazy.. ohhh. My back..lol....God bless..
Oh goodness that’s terrible! Back problems are horrible! - Melody
@@realappalachia hello Melody and Shane.. Thank you for your kind words. Also showing the videos you do of the old towns... use to live in st.paul Va, and castle wood Va.. work in tazewell Va. Long john silvers... Take care. Enjoy your 4th. Stitch....
You ran a 🛑 sign, lol. Right in the middle of downtown at the "Skyway Walking Bridge."
Marshall Mills was also from Morristown. All State in football and basketball and a great receiver at WVU.
They have started to make some of the second floor into studio apartments, and lofts. ☺️
That’s great!
The skywalk is an interesting idea. Unfortunately, the modernist 60s style skywalk looks ugly as heck in that beautiful town.
Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸
Greeting from Switzerland Europe
I love the video . I am a Tennessean myself. I was curious if you sped up the speed? Most appalachian folks talk a little slower 😊 . I really enjoyed the road-trip .
I loved that Skymart. That was cool. The courthouse and the churches you showed were beautiful. I was interested in that brick church next to Bethesda Cemetery. I hope we get to see it again.
We have a Morristown too. It's the county seat of Morris County, which is way up north. But our Morristown only has 20,000 people. It also has beautiful churches. But I haven't been there in decades. We also have a Mauricetown (pronounced the same way). My Dad and I were there on Saturday. We also have a Moorestown.
Yes the church will definitely be on the video of the cemetery so stay tuned! Thank you! - Melody
Please include Bethesda Church in your new video on the cemetery. Also, just down the road on 11E is the General Longstreet Museum, they give tours. I used to live near it and was very happy when the historical society bought it, saving it from destruction. A developer wanted to tear it down and put (yet another!) Dollar General there. Rose Center is named after Judge James G. Rose, Civil War Hero and Chairman of the School Board at the time when plans for construction of the school were initiated. You drove past East High School which was built in 1923. Morristown also had teams compete in the Little League World Series, and the Morristown girls' Little League Softball team won their Series in 2007! Lots of history in this 'little big town.'
I like the little town. It is neat.
The church will definitely be on that video so stay tuned! - Melody
I'm from morristown!❤
I wish I could meet you guys. I live outside Morristown TN.
I have been there 🙂
I’m just curious, you don’t have to answer but are you two married? I love your channel ❤️💜
I know this area have you all ever been to the elks 😊
No, not familiar with the elks - can you tell us more?
I went with a friend to watch a band play
Love the channel and concept, but if I’m being honest the editing could use a lot of work. The videos just have no kinda flow.
Well...after much deliberation, here's the problems with the overhead sidewalk. First...it's butt ugly. Not at all nice to look at. Had they created something with more of an above railroad pedestrian type of look, something more ornate in the overall structure of the thing, probably would have helped the overall concept. Ugly 3X3 concrete pillars are not ascetically pleasing to the eye. Iron pillars of a long gone era, like those common around railroads in the day as part of the superstructure would have gone a long way to improve the look of the thing. And with that, continuing the look in other ways throughout the bottom level, such as street lights and what have you. Barring that, they could have put a fake facade on the concrete pillars, such as sandstone blocks or something like that to cover the eyesore of oversized concrete pillars. Also...it's uncovered. Put a roof on the thing...keep people out of the rain and it would have also helped in the winter a little bit. Parts of the walkway deadend...why? Not even stairs...makes no sense. A good idea...a bad design.
Those are all good ideas!
