A safe, peaceful quality town can only exist with good quality people. With so many of America's once great cities looking like war zones and filled with criminals, it is refreshing to see Dandridge. Well done citizens.

    Hi John and Jodi!
Dandridge, TN. Wow! I'm am totally enthralled! This place is beautiful, peaceful, and blissful. If anyone wants to know what a true Town Ambassador looks like, tell them to meet the spectacular Mr. Bob Jarnagen . His elation for Dandridge, the town he was born, grew up in and still lives today, is so obvious, evident, and truly fascinating! He is definitely "the" ambassador of this town, and an indisputable indispensable walking history book of the town's origins, founders, people, religions businesses, streams, buildings, history, culture and everything else; good, bad or indifferent. That's how a town historian is supposed to be, truthful about its history, period, and the fact that Mr. Jarnagen fosters that modality is very much appreciated. Mr. Jarnagen is also knowledgeable of and gives homage to native Americans who resided in that area way before there was a town there, which is truly noteworthy. It is obvious that he really loves Dandridge and being an important part of its business sector, community, and history. Mr. Jarnagen's graciousness and kindness are blatant. It is also obvious that he is a man of GOD. As he strolled the town, he bestowed the town's story/history in a manner in which you could actually invision what he is saying with precision. Wow! John, this video is awesome! You just captured another important oral history from another spectacular person, and I thank you so much for doing that. Please also thank Mr. Jarnagen for his time and for sharing this treasure of a town with us! GOD bless!

This was so great to watch, what a beautiful old town, and so good to see the enthusiasm of the residents in preserving it. Greetings from North Wales.

Wow....this is an awesome town! Bob is a historian of his town that I could listen to all day long. I loved my Davy Crockett hats that I grew up with and my sons played with them too. I have visited before but see now that I missed alot of information. Again people like Bob make a difference and four generations has to this day. Enjoyed this so much.

Surprising to see a town that has survived til now. Unfortunately this way of life has ended in so many wonderful towns throughout the U.S due to the open border policy that brought wide spread crime and destruction to American way of life and traditions.

Best day of work my Dad ever did (besides marrying my Mom) was to buy two lots on a point looking upstream and downstream at the bridge and downtown. A Summer cabin, we lived there for 8 to 10 weeks each Summer since both Mom and Dad were Knoxville city school employees and had Summer break like the students. Dandridge is a special place on earth, rich in history. Bob does a great job as our historian! There are 5 Revolutionary War Hero’s buried in the downtown graveyard. Most of the gunpowder elements that won the Battle of New Orleans were shipped by Samuel McSpadden from Dandridge. He is one of the Revolutionary War hero’s buried in the graveyard. Dad used to call this area of East Tennessee “God’s Second Eden”. I think he was right.

I assume that McSpadden Avenue in Knoxville is named after him.
