A safe, peaceful quality town can only exist with good quality people. With so many of America's once great cities looking like war zones and filled with criminals, it is refreshing to see Dandridge. Well done citizens.
Dandridge has low crime because its population is 90% white and 4% black.
You can't compare the two. The quality of the people has nothing to do with it.
You are correct. Unfortunately a lot of small towns are being invaded as well. My mom told me recently that there are homeless everywhere in the town that she lives in where the last time I was there no homeless.
@@donyoung7874 The quality of people is everything. There is no magic dirt that turns people with bad morals into good people.
Amen to that brother we need to preserve, protect, and defend
The worlds most gorgeous pharmacist!
No Doubt, Dang Her Husband is One Lucky s.o.b

Dandridge is a gem of an American town. Had lunch at the Smokey Q and it was the best BBQ ever! Loved the downtown as well.
I've found Tennessee in general to be extra polite and friendly. It's one of the reasons we moved here.
Yes, genuineness is a bit hard to find these days. Nice to see there are still small pockets of folks who share old time values!
The owner is stunning, her eyes, wow, some lucky guy out there.
Yes Sir, I've visited that Soda Shop She's Even more Stunning in Person just A Gorgeous Lady I say that with The Utmost Respectful Way ..... To not offend...
As a native life long Texan I moved to Dandridge 3 years ago with no regrets. I love this peaceful quiet town. I especially love the vintage history and ease of antique finds. My first house in dandridge was the Presbyterian manse built in 1890s .
Dandridge and I are a good match....
Hi John and Jodi!
Dandridge, TN. Wow! I'm am totally enthralled! This place is beautiful, peaceful, and blissful. If anyone wants to know what a true Town Ambassador looks like, tell them to meet the spectacular Mr. Bob Jarnagen . His elation for Dandridge, the town he was born, grew up in and still lives today, is so obvious, evident, and truly fascinating! He is definitely "the" ambassador of this town, and an indisputable indispensable walking history book of the town's origins, founders, people, religions businesses, streams, buildings, history, culture and everything else; good, bad or indifferent. That's how a town historian is supposed to be, truthful about its history, period, and the fact that Mr. Jarnagen fosters that modality is very much appreciated. Mr. Jarnagen is also knowledgeable of and gives homage to native Americans who resided in that area way before there was a town there, which is truly noteworthy. It is obvious that he really loves Dandridge and being an important part of its business sector, community, and history. Mr. Jarnagen's graciousness and kindness are blatant. It is also obvious that he is a man of GOD. As he strolled the town, he bestowed the town's story/history in a manner in which you could actually invision what he is saying with precision. Wow! John, this video is awesome! You just captured another important oral history from another spectacular person, and I thank you so much for doing that. Please also thank Mr. Jarnagen for his time and for sharing this treasure of a town with us! GOD bless!
I love the hospitality of a small town. I'm a native of NH, resident of VA. It's definitely not a friendly state. I 💕 the old stores, every one seems to be friendly in TN. Beautiful town I must say. John keep up the good work 💯
John, this Gentleman was most interesting of all - and great historian. Thanks, Larry from Arkansas

Wonderful!!! I really enjoyed the gentleman who gave the tour. Sorry I missed his name but it was truly fun and fascinating. Thanks John. This is my favorite channel.
What a wonderful town! I was born and raised in West Tennessee, but had no idea that a town with this much early America and Tennessee history still exists!! We've been to Gatlinburg numerous times, but never been to Dandrige. As soon as we can, we will definitely visit your awesome historic town. We don't live too far from Davy Crockett's last home place in Rutherford Tennessee. Thanks so much for sharing this with us!!
Now this is interesting history. And another well versed historian. Good find John, I look forward to more on this town. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it and Thanks for being Fan Member Supporter of the Channel!!

Glad you enjoyed the video and Thank you for watching our videos! John & Jodi
I have done some historical research of that area for two Hudson Brothers, who went to that area from North Carolina, c. 1780's.KEEP THE HISTORY ALIVE! I was kind of looking for a place to settle down in about 2 years,..and it just so happened that this came up. Thanks for the historical tour. From another historian.
Ole Bob does a good job telling us about his beautiful City. His family is a part of that History. The owner of the Inn reminds me of Burl Ives. Be a great place to visit and see a Mayberry town of today. Thanks John and Jody….Dandridge,Tennessee….
You’re welcome
Mr Jarnigan is a local treasure and I am happy to call Dandridge my home, too.
I live in Marville, TN and just love your videos about our history. I remember when Maryville was just a small town and we all used to call it Mayberry because of its size and lack of resturants, stores etc. and had to go into Knoxville to aquire certain items. Thanks again John and thanks to Bob for sharing his knowledge.
An older lady who lives in Pigeon Forge told me that when she was a little girl, they could sled on the parkway when snow was on the ground, because vehicle traffic was so sparse in the wintertime. And now today, it's a six-lane highway with nonstop traffic.
Anyone else be reminded of the movie Groundhog Day with this video? Lol Such a great town! My daughter and I are going on a girls weekend soon to see NC mountains. Would love to include this area.
Stop by but everything is closed on Sunday there. Thank you for watching our videos! John & Jodi
@@theappalachianchannel yw thanks for the heads up on sundays!
We love our town. Bob should have mentioned Roger Kelly in the visitor center. He has written several books in the history in the area including the Civil War.
Yes I agree. History is cool!
What a fantastic video. So much history in a wonderful place. If I ever make my way across the pond i think there would be a stop off and a few days in Danbridge.
Love These Small Towns,The History. Thank You For Taking Us Along...

What an interesting town! Really enjoyed learning the history/background of it and the people that are preserving it. Bob sure did a great job relaying the history of Dandridge and thank you both, John and Jodi, for filming it. Enjoyed the bonus footage of the fall foliage from last year, too.
This is my love of country.. Save your main streets Historical structures.
Dandridge is great place to visit and thank you for watching our videos! John & Jodi
the corporate chain pharmacies (cvs, walgreens, etc) have power in the government, with the PBMs & with the distributors (better buying power) to destroy the small business pharmacies. I hope this pharmacy lasts for generations to come.
What a wonderful tour of a beautiful historic Southern town. Mr. Jarnagin obviously a great guy and historian. God bless him and thanks.
I was born there, it has never changed much. My ancestors homesteaded around this town way before the Civil War. There a reason why it has never changed.
Beautiful town and people would be a great place to live
Great work John , loved it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks you for watching our videos! John & Jodi
Bob Jernigan is a very amicable fellow! Enjoyed his town tour & history lesson very much! 😊🌺
I really enjoy videos like this full of history and hometown feel.
The lady owner at Tinsley Bible is gorgeous .
Hey John great story. Dandridge is a beautiful little town we spend the winters there. We are from Michigan the prison state. And during our stay we always make it a point to stop by the visitor center to talk to Roger. He is very knowledgable about the area including the Civil War. He has written several books on it. Great guy to talk. He's what Dandridge is all about.
Interesting info: Gentlemen in the visitors info center in Dandridge told me of a 95 year old tourist from Germany who came in and told him that He had been in a specialized military German unit that was practicing to destroy the dike in dandridge During World War 2 and wanted to say it before he died.
That was probably Roger Kelly. He is a wealth of knowledge.
I have a good time feeling watching this video and the amazing history this town has. That bank vault is amazing and the architecture of the buildings is so overwhelming. Thank you for sharing your town and I know everyone is proud there to be a part of it.
Glad you enjoyed it
God Bless America

Wow....this is an awesome town! Bob is a historian of his town that I could listen to all day long. I loved my Davy Crockett hats that I grew up with and my sons played with them too. I have visited before but see now that I missed alot of information. Again people like Bob make a difference and four generations has to this day. Enjoyed this so much.
Thanks so much
OMG...absolutely beautiful!! Well done guys/ gals!! God Bless
I'm not American but have always been in love with the small towns of the USA and the feel of comradery and family they give, very nice video, hopefully the USA will return to this soon enough.
Surprising to see a town that has survived til now. Unfortunately this way of life has ended in so many wonderful towns throughout the U.S due to the open border policy that brought wide spread crime and destruction to American way of life and traditions.
What an amazingly beautiful little town, so much pride in their town is obvious.❤
What a beautiful, peaceful, friendly Town. So much history.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video, it was very interesting.
This is great.I really enjoy these videos.

I love listening to this man's classic TN accent. He is as good as Huell Houser.
This is a great video! Love it and would like to visit Dandridge. So wonderful we have communities like this one still around‼️ 😊
Great info! What a wonderful town!
Great info really enjoyed watching about the history
Best day of work my Dad ever did (besides marrying my Mom) was to buy two lots on a point looking upstream and downstream at the bridge and downtown. A Summer cabin, we lived there for 8 to 10 weeks each Summer since both Mom and Dad were Knoxville city school employees and had Summer break like the students. Dandridge is a special place on earth, rich in history. Bob does a great job as our historian! There are 5 Revolutionary War Hero’s buried in the downtown graveyard. Most of the gunpowder elements that won the Battle of New Orleans were shipped by Samuel McSpadden from Dandridge. He is one of the Revolutionary War hero’s buried in the graveyard. Dad used to call this area of East Tennessee “God’s Second Eden”. I think he was right.
I assume that McSpadden Avenue in Knoxville is named after him.
Great job John thanks
Fantastic video of history. So much to see, that's for sure.
Thank you for the video John and Jodi , very nice content.
You’re welcome
