  • I recently rented a Gravely Pro Turn 660 after my main mower went down with an oil leak. This mower is built like a tank, but the cut quality just isn't there. Check out the video to find out more.

    I have a pro turn 660 and do not have any issues digging into the ground on slopes or cutting straight lines and my lawn is cut perfect with my 660. I also use it to cut horse pastures that are not being used in the current horse rotation. Cuts fantastic. When I start seeing grass not cutting right... time to sharpen the blades... pro-tip. Not sure what your on about with the "swoop" business.

    The cbt system in theory was good, in practice horrible. Mine breaks around 4-6 springs a season. At $25 a spring. The arm eats up support bushings , not an easy repair.

    Those types of brakes do not hold very well, my proturn 152 has the same setup. Mine has the pin type system for the deck though, those wheel type deck adjustments are no bueno, it's what kept me from trying john deere zero turns. I've been happy with my gravely 52" so far though, got almost 700 hours on it so far.

    It has an indicator line on the deck height setting . It’s common sense dude. and I don’t see the swoop being an issue. I’d take a gravely over a toro anyday.

    • @LansingLawnServiceLLC
      @LansingLawnServiceLLC  Год назад

      This machine did not have an indicator line any where that I could see. I owned a gravel pro stance for a year and I never did get used to the swoop out the side. I’m sure it’s a personal preference thing, but I couldn’t get used to it. I also tried every kind of blade to get the gravel pro stance to cut good and all it did was tear the gas. I never did get a clean cut out of it. I think I spent over $200 on different blades to get it to cut clean and it never did. I mow tall fescue and I have heard from many other guys that gravely just doesn’t cut tall fescue well. There are a lot of guys down south the swear by gravely, but up here in Michigan I have only seen one company running them and their lawns don’t look too good when their done. If you love gravely stick with it, I just like whatever cuts the best and for me in my area gravely ain’t it.

      With all due respect, do not listen to this guy. He is using a rental. God only knows what kind of treatment it has had to endure. I have run everything on the market and Gravely, BY FAR is the best. I have had two. The first one I sold when it reached 6,000 hours and the man I sold it to is still using it. It now has 9,400 hours on it.

    • @BigSouthOutdoorsTV
      @BigSouthOutdoorsTV Год назад

      I came across your video by accident and I must say, with all due respect, you can't give an HONEST/ACCURTE review of a machine from a rental. I have been in the lawn/landscaping business for almost 25 years. My first commercial zero turn was a gravely 152 xdz. I now have a 452 proturn. I have ZERO issues that you've described. For one, the deck rail in the front is BENT. That's one of many reasons why it has no suction. Second, there is a steel plate missing on the discharge side of the deck. Third, the blades you showed need replacing. The lift edge is eaten away at the end of the blade. Toro makes a good machine, but they'll never measure up to a gravely. Again, with all due respect, you wouldn't know that because you have never owned one. I know of what I speak. I've run gravely for the last 15 years. Best machine BY FAR on the market.

  • @MrSteve8511
    @MrSteve8511 11 месяцев назад +1

    I didn't hear you mention that this machine goes 15 mph!

    • @LansingLawnServiceLLC
      @LansingLawnServiceLLC  11 месяцев назад

      That’s because the capability to go 15 miles an hour doesn’t matter. You can’t mow at 15 miles an hour so that is why there isn’t a reason to mention it.

    • @MrSteve8511
      @MrSteve8511 11 месяцев назад

      @LansingLawnServiceLLC true... but the ability to have power to cut faster and get place to place on big property is important. That's why we don't use residential movers in these situations... too slow.

    I like that mower but i like all commercial mowers lol except maybe dixie chopper/grass hopper lol all 60 inch decks can dig in some cause no brand has there wheels that far apart. My scag patriot is really wide on the back but it can still happen but i agree on the cut issues of gravely we have owned them

  • @grgygantz6760
    @grgygantz6760 Год назад

    First off. Change those blades. Use some type of mulching blade. I prefer Copper Head. I run Copper Head blades even on my edger and also on my little trim mower. When you sharpen blades. They must be done at a 30 degree angle. Cutting in Florida, for several older people. They’ll let you know if you miss something. At 67 I am cutting both Bahia and St. Augustine grasses. Not on the same day. If doing Bahia change every day. Nice and sharp.

    • @LansingLawnServiceLLC
      @LansingLawnServiceLLC  Год назад

      I am in Michigan and we had completely different grass. We are cutting tall fescue and rye which means in order to get a clear cut we have to have lots of deck suction in order to pick the grass up and cut it. I run high lift blades all year long. If this is a good mower it should mow great stock as is, but I have yet to meet anyone who hasn’t had to do something to their gravely mow in order to get it to cut just “good”. Unfortunately, the deck design just is no where near the quality standard I expect from a professional grade mower.

  • @michaeldiamond3372
    @michaeldiamond3372 Год назад +2

    Give me a break. The seat is the most uncomfortable ride I have experienced. The platform jigs and jags over uneven terrain even at low speeds. The cut is not good. The parking brake gets mucked up with grass and will not lock and thus the engine will not start. Oh ya, the lock that holds the deck in position just falls out of position. Hard to believe the engineers actually drove this piece of crap.

      Would you rather see a review where all I talk about is how glowingly great this machine is and that it has no draw backs at all? If it is going to be an honest review I need to say everything that I find that I personally don’t like. That way after watching the video people have a much better picture of what the machine is actually like. The value is not in a glowing review, but in an open and honest, unsponsored review. I have no skin in the game with this mower, it’s a rental. I would hope people would appreciate my honesty and showing all the little details I found that I didn’t like. Maybe someone watching wouldn’t even think about some of the things I brought up. That is the value of an unsponsored, honest review.

      They'll have a 300 and 500 series this year. I returned my 660 last year and order two 360's Kawasaki efi and I'm adding the air ride seat. They got rid of that awful 600 platform
