    Sunday morning and I’m watching someone cut grass. I told the dealer in December to put it together but next day I changed my mind. Decide to stay with my Toro Groundmaster 3310 cab unit I have ordered. It is expected in march. This Mach one does blow out some clippings. $12,000.00 vs $65,000.00. Hope my a/c works good.

    How does it do against heavy pasture grasses such as Pensacola Bahia, and tall fescue? A gravely sales person is telling me it will do it, but then again he is a salesman. I want to hear from a pro. I am not a professional landscaper, but I have about 10 acres of rough property. A small tractor and rotary cutter is about 16 grand. If this will work I'd rather have it.

      I live in northern alabama, I have 7.5 acres and about 1/2 of it sits low - and isn't dry enough to run a mower over until late May or early June. By then, the grass is crazy tall and thick. I demo'd a 260, and it did fair job, but I had to go slow and double/triple cut a few sections. I'd come across a thread about the Mach1, which is what made me take a good look at it, and ended up buying: www.lawnsite.com/threads/new-gravely-mach-1-w-tunnel-deck.492344/ I bought the Mach1 and it handles the tall, thick, moist stuff much, much better than the 260 did.
      I also have a ~3 acre section that was covered with sweet gum saplings up until 4 years ago. I've been bush-hogging that for the last several years - and now that it's grassy, I've switched to mowing it with the ZTR. The Mach1 handles it great.
      Now that fall is approaching, I'm really curious if the Mach 1 will do a decent job mulching up my leaves. My concern is that with a deck designed to blow the clippings out fast and far - it may not do a good job of churning up leaves into itty bitty pieces. I will be installing gator blades and a Bad Boy "advanced chute system" to block off the discharge port. Hopefully that will do it.
      Also of note: The 31hp Kawi FX921v and 35hp FX1000v are *exactly* the same engine, except the 31hp version has the throttle stop screw set so the throttle can't open up all the way. A few minutes with a dremel to grind down the screw will allow the throttle plate to open all the way - and gives you +4hp. You can look at this two ways: You can add the power if you want/need - or... If the engine meets Kawasaki's durability/reliability specs @ 35hp - then it isn't working as hard at 31hp, and should last longer.

      @razorblades7688 4 года назад

      @@GroovesAndLands If you block the discharge opening like you say and use the wavy mulching blades, as they have very little lift, it will chop up the leaves pretty well...maybe not quite as well as some decks but well enough to substantially reduce their size.
      I have been using a Gravely Pro Ride since 2011 and it has the same deck shell as the Mach One. That's what i have been doing when leaf mulching time comes.

    I just watched your video. I had a Gravely ProTurn that would not do what I saw in your video especially with the grass being wet as yours was. But I had Scag with the velocity deck and a John Deere with the 7 iron deck when I lived in South Texas and they cut very well. How does this compare to the Scag or John Deere with the 7 iron deck? Do you know?

      Not trying to answer for The Chunky Cajun but.i have a Gravely Pro Ride and have used it side by side with both the John Deere 930 series and a Scag Wildcat a few years ago and it will handle tall, thick grass every bit as well and IME it handled it slightly better. I can’t say whether it will handle wet grass better, as far as dispersion goes because I didn’t get to use the JD and Scag in very wet grass.

      @@Texas1987 No adjustable baffle. They use a different method of adjusting the deck angle I think. My dealer has no clue but there are four corner adjustments that might work. It may void my warranty if I do it myself. I just wear a face shield for grinding metal and tightly sealed goggles to keep dirt and grass off my eyeballs. Also a N95 mask so I don't cough up blood the next morning. Other than that and the ridiculous cutting height adjustment system it can really cut the grass. It is not user friendly.

    SCAG velocity deck best cutting deck ever. That deck is crap. Leaves clumbs and clippings. Scag cuts better than any other deck. It cast iron spindles and is almost 1/2 thick.

    • @razorblades7688
      @razorblades7688 4 года назад +1

      I demo’ed a Scag a few years ago and run it.side by side with my Gravely Pro Ride, which has the same deck as the Mach One, and it didn’t cut any of the grass any better, if as good as my Pro Ride. Neither left any clumps on weekly or bi-weeklyyards. Both left visible clippings on the bi-weekly yards, and so did the JD, Hustler and Exmark mowers that I demo’ed at various time on the same yards.
      I mow the southern grass types, don’t know what grass type you cut?
      Btw, which model Gravely were you referring to that left clumps?

    • @ronniestellyii4224
      @ronniestellyii4224 3 года назад +1

      @@razorblades7688 the pro ride is not the same deck as the Mach one. The Scag Velocity doesn’t compare. We tested it. The Mach one deck on another level.

    • @razorblades7688
      @razorblades7688 3 года назад

      @@ronniestellyii4224 I will clarify…the deck shell is the same deck shell as the pro ride. It has different spindles and bracing etc but make no mistake it is the same deck shell. This deck was originally built by EverRide under their Warrior model, introduced in the early 2000’s.
      EverRide’s parent company Auburn Consolidated inc., got in financial trouble and Aries Company bought them out and after a couple of years brought out the Gravely Pro Ride, which was basically an EverRide Warrior painted red with Gravely decals and all.
      The only real difference in performance between the ProRide and Mach one is the more powerful engine on the Mach One.
      I demoed a Mach one for a week or so earlier this year so I have experience with it and took pics of both mowers side by side that show differences and similarities between the two mowers.
